Sorry to hear about your colleague, Sparrer. Sounds like it was a shock.

Well, I'm in a bad mood with smallest cat. We awoke to sick on the breakfast table. Came home to poo not quite in the cat tray. And I've just discovered that (AGAIN!) she has done a massive wee in the worst possible place - where all the cables join the TV to the Wii, the TV cable comes through the wall, the homehub plugs in etc. I've had to dismantle it (AGAIN!) to clean it all up and there is still a smell emanating from that bit of the living room. :-( And Charlotte cat can't stand to be in the same room as her.

Anyway, after nearly an hour of cleaning up for no good reason, here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Got smaller son to school eventually. His "trousers were wrong". It took him from 8.40 - 9.30 to come to terms with this.

    3) Brother mended my car exhaust.

    4) Took his dog for a walk while he was mending it.

    5) Brushed the dog which left him all fluffy and looking peeved!

    6) Cleaned the kitchen bin out properly - in the garden with boiling water.

    7) Looking forward to One Born Every Minute later.

Ampersand: Hoping you have a lovely time and wonderful weather.
VJsmum: Have a wonderful few days.
DD: Ahh dear groan worthy squidoo.
McHags: So sorry for the loss of your young colleague, such a shock.

1-5 for many days. we have been away in South Wales and it has been amazing, we visited beaches bays, forests and lagoons. it has us seriously discussing changes – watch this space. We ate things like wild garlic, samphire, toasted lava seaweed, and have come back loaded up with natural honey from the onsite bee’s, cuttings of elderflower and hawthorn but not sure they travelled well they are in the green house now to see if they recover. And a dozen big ol duck eggs in exchange for electronics help from DH. While there as their lidls stocks different things to down South we were able to only shop at Lidl for the bits we needed and it worked out fantastically well. I packed a lot lighter in the new van but I didn’t take enough clothes. The weather was amazing for all but one day. We spent an afternoon and a day visiting friends over there. We saw so much wildlife with all of the birds nesting and coming around the van for food and the spring flowers changing by the day.:):)

I don’t normally suffer from holiday “come down” blues, but I really am now I can’t deny.

    For today
1.Lots of washing loads drying naturally on the line, I don't want to use the extortionate leccy....:p

2.Threw out 3 pairs of trousers and 6 tops which are holey:o
3.Tidied out the greenhouse, which took an age and planted up 3 hanging baskets and re potted the tomato’s.:)
    4.Put out bird food
    5.Tastey freezer curry for lunch.

A belated happy birthday to Kittikins. :bdaycake:

As for Cadbury World, we were give 4 bars of chocolate and then a taster of liquid chocolate. Apparently, when I visit with the children, they will bag up the chocolate and I'll only be handing it to the cherubs when we get OFF the coach, once we've returned to school. :D I'll allow them the liquid chocolate as they can't put that into their pockets. :rotfl:

mhagster - So, so sorry to hear about your colleague.

Having said that, I almost feel bad having pleasures for the day. :o

    1) Pasta and sauce for supper. Nice quick meal.

    2) Governor in charge of Gifted & Talented children was impressed with my rigorous marking and high expectations. Also the fact that the children have to respond to the feedback and sign their name to say they've read it (whether they actually respond to it is a different matter....). :A

    3) Had one of my bars of choc from CW for pudding. :D;)

    4) Went for a run first thing this morning. I'm exhausted now!

    5) Loads of stuff for recycling is now in the recycling bin. Still loads more to work my way through. :o

    night all

Mhagster, so sorry about your young colleague. The thought came to me that if her mother asked for you, she would have spoken warmly of you.
    Kittikins, belated HB wishes :bdaycake::bdaycake::bdaycake:
Good to hear that you had such a good time.
It was little Boo's birthday yesterday, Angrove Mumsbuns, she is no longer 'little' Boo, but a very grown up looking yearling.
VJsmum, I love hearing about Seoul...

    My collection:
    1. Discovered a new Judith O'Reilly book (the author of Wife In The North), published last year but I had missed it. (A Year of Doing Good) Amazon Prime free trial meant it came post free and ASAP. Torn between wanting to read NOW and saving it for my holiday.

    2. Reading a piece Judith had written about a bus journey from Durham Bus Station. I have had countless journeys from Durham Bus Station, sadly arthritis means these are a largely a thing of the past.
The trips to Newcastle for 3 courses well under a fiver at Luigi's (now something else, if it still exists). Catching buses with bags and suitcases for teaching, in far flung parts of the county and beyond.
Trips to Durham itself and especially stepping off the bus to the anticipation of the steep walk up to the cathedral. Walking up those worn, worn flagstones and then out on to Cathedral Green. The absolute glory of the Cathedral and the surrounding medieval buildings, and the knowledge that I will never, never tire of that sight .

    3. Freebies from pal and in the post, posh shower gel, posh foot cream, posh body cream. A snazzy solar charger for Dr C.

    4. Friends dropping by, warm chats dipping between black humour from dark places, light humour from sunny places and shared cups of exotic teas. Ok, just Earl Grey and Chai, but nice to step outside the norm, perhaps. (Everyone who is offered a cup of tea at mine usually goes not for Yorkshire Gold, the best there is and always on offer, but for one of the more exotic offerings.)

    5. Liver and bacon stuffing topped casserole for tea. Barely a recipe it is so easy, and only took up 5 minutes of precious friend chatting time to make:

1 lb defrosted lambs' liver bits from Heron (£1)
250 g - 500g cooking bacon (I used value back today that needed using up)
Packet of sage and onion stuffing.
Made up stock or gravy mix, to cover meats
2 finely sliced onions, if liked. (Optional)

Layer liver, bacon and onions in small casserole. Cover with gravy/stock. Make up the stuffing and layer on top of meat and gravy.
Cook for approx 1 hour at 150 deg C. Serve with mash and veg. (We had peas.)
    Serves four.

    6. Posting my much - lower -than - bill - estimate meter readings online and switching to a fixed tariff. Awaiting a revised bill with hopefully lower Direct Debit.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Frith it was mhags colleague, not mine, who passed away. Sorry to hear about the cat but pleased you have your exhaust mended now.
My deepest sympathies mhags. Pleased to hear that sparrers are alive and well and have their place in Oz even if the seagulls did interrupt their meal
DD think it was me who mentioned the squid squad, sorry it was the best I could do on the spur of the moment! Congrats on finding the yellow square :)
mcculloch I'd choose Yorkshire Gold, I have EG much of the time so would be nice to have something a bit different. I love liver and bacon so thanks for the recipe
PK Wales sounds lovely, we don't appreciate what we have on our own doorstep in our rush to chase the sun

    1. Roasted a turkey drumstick in the sc
    2. Turkey salad for dinner
    3. Muttley had turkey bits with his dinner
    4. Repotted a photina which my NZ friend gave me. Took a photo to send to her, she can't believe how much it's grown since December - nor can I, hope it stops soon!
    5. nsd/npd

    Sweet dreams :)

Late Tuesday afternoon here, cosy in my house...absolutely chucking it down with rain outside, our crazy Melbourne weather...5o yesterday morning ..20o this morning. Which was rather bizarre considering I was all wrapped up for going out!! Then a cool change and heavy rain from late morning.

Drove to work at 6am, traffic quiet enough .....drove home at 3.30pm and remembered why I get the train! Crazy drivers ! The rain didn't help.

Got my teeny tiny pay....only worked 2 days last week..which was nice at the time! I'm syphoning away parts of my wages for different funds. I have car rego to pay for my car in July, this is like road tax ( but more expensive) and paid yearly. They have just announced it's to go up again. It's around $800 a year. Then there's my holiday fund and then there's my orthopaedic sandals that will be around $150... Don't they sound glamorous?

Home with enough grub to cover tea tonight:) there were only 2 of us today , as there was yesterday . Normally 3 would do a shift . We managed and I stayed on a bit extra so we could both close in half an hour rather than one person taking an hour.

Came home to a quiet house as everyone was out and about. It's nice and peaceful and all I can hear is the rain on the roof and the windows, which is a sound I like.

That's been my day! Free car parking space, free food and free water for my veg patch....can't ask for much more! Have a lovely Tuesday :)

So how do you know BoP is real and a man? Answer on a postcard to …
5 Dunno what was wrong with BoPsie yesterday. No, not that type of wrong, but she was chirping away like an old lady. Well, not old lady, but chirping. And she explained that Raffles has decided that my jeans are soo good, they are now his. And raffles is getting very picky with his fish. On Sunday he decided that he would not wait for the Cod, before eating. This morning, he is off his food! Then BoPsie stirred it up and it has been wolfed down as sorts.

4 Raffles, after his climbing expedition on the conservatory last week, has endeavoured to seek further activities in and around the yard. Fortunately we have a ping pong ball that keeps him occupied

3 Last night we finished watching, tv tax free, Ross Noble. His freewheeling series. Bit irrelevant amd funny. Was on Dave catch up. Thinks BoPsei had a spot for him!! But, then she has me. She had her antefurion top on, one without the zip back. So that way, I cannot grizzle my chin on her back. Mind yiou, I need a trim this week.

2 You can tell & is on holiday, she missed the cricket reference yesterday.

1 The froth at the top of the glass soon clears depending on what you drink, but be careful of nuclear coffee, that white stuff may not be milk!

You can tell BoP is real as he completely missed another birthday. I did buy some flowers for BoPsie once and they were in a can, wobbleade type.
