5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Quick pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons OK at school.
3) Had a waffle, strawberries and chocolate sauce in a caf! for brunch.
4) Watered stuff in the greenhouse and put slug pellets down on the allotment. Too much rain to do more.
5) Good old NHS this afternoon. They sorted bigger son out quickly then I showed them my little finger. Nurse went "Oooooo!!" and got the doctor in and within an hour or so I had gone to minor injuries at the hospital, seen a nurse, been X rayed and I'm seeing a consultant tomorrow!
Seems top joint on little finger might be slightly "out" but not enough for the nurse to "pull it" (I was secretly glad!) But I'll see what they say tomorrow.
6) Fingers taped together so Mr Sainsbury made our tea.
7) Sons helped with lighting the fire and washing up.0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
A day or two of being AWOL soon makes me realise that it's better back here... Just so, so manic. I was team manager for the school's Year 3/4 football team at a tournament last night. Despite also being the ONLY Year 3/4 teacher, meant that I had to be there! However, the children had soon demoted me to chief cheerleader as one of the fathers was far better at tactics than I was! "Score a goal" is about my limit.:rotfl:
My poor little car also had to be taken in for a service.Well, it's a necessary thing. Still doesn't make it pleasurable. However....
1) Car service was paid for easily as I put aside a little money each month to cover this. Therefore, I barely notice it leaving my account as it's all budgeted for. :A
2) Good, long run last night. Hoping that I can do the same tomorrow!
3) HM carrot & leek soup tonight for supper, followed by bread & prosciutto. Yum!
4) Long chat with a friend. Great to catch up with her.
5) Sorted out my groups for tomorrow's school trip to Cadbury World. Yum, yum, yum!!!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

3) nice lunches at both conferences
4) watching the dogs playing

CCP: Big hugs.
1.I went to Mr T tonight and 2 things came out of it, I walked around and mentally used what we already have to make other things, and wished I had gone to lidl instead. I did pick up a few packs of fresh raspberries for 20p
2.Came home and got food out of the freezer to defrost
3.And cooked a turmeric rice and curry from scratch, not what I wanted to do after a shop.
4.Work was ok.
5. I didn’t get the gardening I wanted done as I wussed out in the rain I was surprised when I saw a neighbour gardening out in the rain thou on the way to the shops tonight.
6. Edited to add DH was sent a £4 coupon for complaining to betty crocker, so reluctantly we bought 2 cake mixes I hope they are better than the other rubbish we actually complained about.0 -
Frith, hope your finger gets sorted, I treated an injured little finger myself a few years ago and it healed at a slight angle; the end joint is fractionally off the vertical and more noticeably off the horizontal, if that makes sense.
1. Getting bits and pieces ready for a few days away. I just hope I don't forget anything too vital that I can't buy easily!
2. I want to defrost the fridge freezer now that I have a shiny new second freezer for storing food so not spending much. Very little in fact.
Dr C. eats lots of veg, tuna, chickpeas and chicken when left to fend for himself so he'll be fine whilst I am away.
3. Anticipation of being able to read a book, out of bed, without feeling I should be doing something else, whilst I am away. Selecting books to take!
4. Didn't have to go out today in the cold and wet, so my joints were happier. Will have to go out tomorrow though...
5. Succumbed to temptation and bought myself a completely unnecessary shower cream for a quid in Wilko's, under half price. It smells of raspberries and vanilla and was rather like showering with a milkshake. Which was not unpleasant.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
sparrer - I had a fiddle and got things back to normal! Thanks for the suggestion x
1. ham-ish soup...third day in a row
2. scone pizza and chips...dude this below the line is starchy!
3. washed up
4. read for a while
5. come on LFS, there are lots of good things...didn't sting myself when I pulled up nettles!
I'm feeling deprived...and its making me miserable. I have everything I need to make a great big chocolate brownie, but I won't, not till fri night, so its well chilled for saturday. I may even have it for breakfast on saturday. Now I see why mum's go without food so their kids can eat. I get it. I've made sure DS has the salad he loves for lunch and OH has had all but one piece of the cake.onward and upward x

mhags hope you're okay, not working too much.
CCP be good to yourself
Frith hope your finger gets sorted soon. It's surprising how much we need them, which we only find out when there's something wrong with one
DD definitely jealous, you gadabout!
Rain - filled up the water butt and watering can, and made the grass grow. Pity I'll have to cut it again, rather like this (sorry it's rather long)...
GOD'S THOUGHTS ON LAWNS
GOD: Frank, you know all about gardens and nature. What in the world is going on down there on the planet? What happened to the dandelions, violets, thistle and stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect, no-maintenance garden plan. Those plants grow in any type of soil, withstand drought and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the long lasting blossoms attracts butterflies, honey bees and flocks of songbirds. I expected to see a vast garden of colors by now. But all I see are these green rectangles.
ST. FRANCIS: It's the tribes that settled there, Lord. The Suburbanites. They started calling your flowers "weeds" and went to great lengths to kill them and replace them with grass.
GOD: Grass? But it's so boring. It's not colorful. It doesn't attract butterflies, birds and bees, only grubs and sod worms. It's sensitive to temperatures. Do these Suburbanites really want all that grass growing there?
ST. FRANCIS: Apparently so, Lord. They go to great pains to grow it and keep it green. They begin each spring by fertilizing grass and poisoning any other plant that crops up in the lawn.
GOD: The spring rains and warm weather probably make grass grow really fast. That must make the Suburbanites happy.
ST. FRANCIS: Apparently not, Lord. As soon as it grows a little, they cut it - sometimes twice a week.
GOD: They cut it? Do they then bail it like hay?
ST. FRANCIS: Not exactly, Lord. Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.
GOD: They bag it? Why? Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?
ST. FRANCIS: No Sir. Just the opposite. They pay to throw it away.
GOD: Now let me get this straight. They fertilize grass so it will grow. And when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw it away?
ST. FRANCIS: Yes, Sir.
GOD: These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back on the rain and turn up the heat. That surely slows the growth and save them a lot of work.
ST. FRANCIS: You aren't going to believe this Lord. When the grass stops growing so fast, they drag out hoses and pay more money to water it so they can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.
GOD: What nonsense. At least they kept some of the trees. That was a sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. The trees grow leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer. In the autumn they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to keep moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes. Plus, as they rot, the leaves form compost to enhance the soil. It's a natural circle of life.
ST. FRANCIS: You better sit down, Lord. The Suburbanites have drawn a new circle. As soon as the leaves fall, they rake them into great piles and pay to have them hauled away.
GOD: No. What do they do to protect the shrub and tree roots in the winter and to keep the soil moist and loose?
ST. FRANCIS: After throwing away the leaves, they go out and buy something which they call mulch. They haul it home and spread it around in place of the leaves.
GOD: And where do they get this mulch?
ST. FRANCIS: They cut down trees and grind them up to make the mulch.
GOD: Enough. I don't want to think about this anymore. St. Catherine, you're in charge of the arts. What movie have you scheduled for us?
ST.CATHERINE: Dumb and Dumber, Lord. It's a really stupid movie about ...
GOD: Never mind, I think I just heard the whole story from St. Francis.

Yoohoo, I am here and have just been zonked out early at night before posting! Had a couple of 6am starts ( at work for 6am) as just 2 of us were doing the work of 3
been a sad week at work and we still don't quite know what happened to colleague.
So a few pleasures for my week.....
Phone call on Wednesday.....' Help, I'm locked in your toilet' hung up! She was indeed locked in the loo and was rather distressed and had only 2% charge left on her phone! It's a double lock and I think she just kept locking herself in! Made me laugh:)
Bought sunflowers from florist , I've been getting 3 weeks out of them.
Succumbed and put heating on yesterday ....was lovely
Had a day off yesterday , bit of a pyjama day...well morning. Did all my housework in my pjs, then went out shopping ( dressed!) groceries are so expensive here and I just can't get the price down, I've been writing in a diary my weekly spend this year and it just seems to go up and up. Yet when I asked the others at work today what they spent they thought mine was really cheap!
DD1 brought 2 friends home for tea last night...one I knew about and then a text can S come too....course she can! Macaroni and garlic bread and then brownie for pud.
Lots of autumn weather , bit of rain, bit of sun , beautiful colours on the trees.
Today's colleague saying to me this morning ' I like working with you' Aaawh....I like working with her too....even though it should've been my day off!
Have a lovely day0
