Thank you Kittikins and DfV , feeling much better today. Might see GP re increasing arthritis pain in hands/fingers, I didn't realise it can be quite so debilitating but I do appreciate there's very little one can do about it. Having said which a lovely friend who came to see me yesterday gave me some tiger balm to try, which has made some difference, so will get myself a jar next time I'm shopping.

    1. Working through my list I've cleaned all the mirrors in the house including the two mirror fronted double wardrobes and the 1.5 x 1metre lounge mirror. Have to use a step ladder for both cos I'm too short to reach otherwise :o
    2. Dug over and cleared out half the strawberry bed, goodness those runners hold on tight! Will do a bit more while the sun's shining
    3. De-badgered my roots using 1/2 a box from the £1 shop. If you can read this chicken I'm still keeping it frugal :)
    4. Did 12 mins on the treadmill, a record, usually only manage 6 mins at a time. Walked 0.5 mile, and burned 66 cals. More to follow later
    5. Yellow thing certainly helping keep the spirits up, long may it last
    6. Hope & is having a safe flight and not too tiring.

Have a sunny rest of the day :)

You are so right dfv the security guys have fixed the squeaky door in the silent zone and, when i mentiined i'd have to buy something from the shop to get bus change, pointed me in the direction of a change machine. Hope all peas safely planted. All mine last year were eaten by slugs :-(
    1) saw soman struggling with squeezing her newly acquired flatpack greenhouse inti her wheely. Offered her a lift. She was thrilled and we had the inner glow of a deed well done
    2) very foggy day. Took dogs to tentsmuir and much less foggy. Super walk
    3) i am on the last dr who blanket square
    4) decluttered my magazine pile
    5) did some weeding. Decided 30 mins enough for day 1

Good morning all, quiet in here

    Echo, echo, echo......

DforV, dib, dib, dib well done you

SS I like being left alone sometimes too
Sparrer doubled your output, no mean feat :T
DD well done on Dr Who squares

    For yesterday (sat)

1 ate lots of cake for breakfast - including a tim tam slam :D
2 teaching was good, but class is rather shy and silent. Need to do some group work today to liven them up a bit
    3 bibimbap for lunch
4 went to the fish market with my "employer" . It is one of my favourite places in Seoul, like an alien world from dr who. Even seeing them kill a fish didn't bother me, if it had been ours I would still have eaten it
5 bought our crab, langoustine and clams and took them to a restaurant who prepare it for you. Was delicious, especially the "alive 10 mins ago" langoustines.

    Sleep tight all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Quick pleasures for today.

    1) A lie in.

    2) Wraps for lunch with chicken, pepper and lettuce.

    3) Brought nearly all the remaining logs in from outside to stack round the fire. Looking forward to having that part of the garden back! I have burned nearly 2 tonnes over the winter. Last winter the total was 4.5 tonnes.

    4) Had a bit of a go at cleaning the porch out (we tend to use it as a shed).

    5) Dad and brother came round and we had fish and chips from the van.

    6) Crumble for pudding!

    7) Game of monopoly (dad went to sleep on the sofa and the smallest cat sat on the sofa arm and kept staring at him!)

    8) Smaller son did a bit of homework with brother.

    9) Watched Casualty.

    10) My school friend phoned.

    Yesterday's goodies....

    1. DD and I went for lunch with my chum, nomnom.

    2. I had a quick, freebie 'hand treatment' in C&Evelyn, using my new favourite stuff - and didn't buy a thing :)

    3. We took photos of graffiti around the town, thankfully not as many as we anticipated (homework).

Can't think of any more.......not like me!

A few of my weekend pleasures:

Road trip with OH, we were up in the hills! It was cold, damp and misty and the scenery was stunning. The colours of autumn trees are just glorious this year.

Saturday snoooooze on the sofa with blankets piled high on top of me. It's so chilly but absolutely refusing to put heating on , gas bills are to go up by 17% this winter , which is ridiculous. More jumpers please!

Woke up at early o'clock and gave my friend from home a call and had a good chat with her....even took her out in the garden to hang out washing at 7am....in my jammies, 'twas freezing!

Today was back to work, which was fine. I've not seen my main colleague for 10 days and it seemed like ages...lots to chat about.

Went out with OH, he ate...and virtuously, I didn't. I'd had lunch at work so wasn't really hungry....this wouldn't normally stop me but trying hard not to eat crap.

Everyone is out and the house is perfectly quiet. I'm going to make a chilli for dinner and light some candles to see if I can create some heat!

Do have a lovely Sunday , almost dark o'clock time, I reckon ampersand should be passing about now, so shall send a wave up towards the sky!

Afternoon all - I'm back! I've caught up on the thread and am pleased to see that all are well, except for the wildlife foolish enough to live near arch-hunter Raffles!

Some of many pleasures for the past few days:

    1) My trip up to London didn't start well - my taxi turned up 20 minutes late so I missed my train, and the next one was cancelled so I ended up hanging around on the platform for nearly an hour - but all was fine once I got moving and I arrived in time for a late (but not very late) lunch.

    2) Hotel wasn't as posh as I was expecting - more like a glorified B&B - but was clean, and quiet, and only a couple of minutes' walk from the river. It was definitely worth booking in advance as the walk-in rate was £375 a night , more than double what I paid.

    3) Saw lots of your namesakes, sparrer - good to see when they're an increasingly rare species.

    4) The tabby cat which had snuck into Southwark Cathedral and fallen asleep on one of the chairs: I don't think it had paid its entry donation, but no-one seemed inclined to wake it up and ask it to leave!

    5) Exploring Shad Thames, an immensely atmospheric area of the old docklands, then eating dinner in a restaurant overlooking the river: I couldn't help wondering, though, what my ancestors who lived and worked in the area would have thought of me sitting there admiring the view and nibbling chargrilled asparagus with anchovy foam!

    6) Saw lots and lots of handsome churches: I have a great love for church architecture, and managed 22 in three days, albeit some from the outside as not all are open every day.

    7) Lunch yesterday, overlooking the marina and eating pizza, and concluding with a free shot of limoncello...

    8) ...which I regretted slightly when I got to the station to find no trains running on the Central line. I got a taxi instead, which wasn't very OS but gave me some great views of London as the driver took a route along the river and through Westminster.

    9) Super-cuddly, super-purry Isis when I got home. :D
Back after a very long break!

Hello - it looks like it's me again!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A decent night's sleep - the hotel was pleasant enough, but far too well heated for my taste so I didn't sleep as well as I might - I prefer a cooler room to sleep in.

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) My LL knocked on my door to hand over a parcel which he found in the flowerbed outside - it was meant to be delivered back in September, and the company which sent it has long since claimed the cost back from Royal Mail as being undelivered, as strangely enough I never thought to search in a flowerbed for it!

    4) Put my new chest of drawers together, quite easily as it proved to be the type which just slots together.

    5) Easy dinner tonight, of a pasta dish from the freezer, as I don't feel like cooking.
Back after a very long break!

ccp glad to hear you had a good time in london. If you visit in the summer vacation london university has very reasonably priced accommodation
The fish sounds lish vjsmum i bought six squid from lidl yesterday. Sadly frozen but allows me to think up sick squid /six quid jokes ;-)
Decisions decisions. 5 rows from end of last square wool ran out. Do i do last 5 in different colour or do whole new square in diff colour? I suspect the latter.
    1) walked dogs, lovely breakfast of overnight soaked oats, yoghurt and frozen fruit
    2) after church dd2 took me to m&s cos she'd seen a dress she thought would look good on me. It did :-) (ok so not very mse but very me)
    3) used up ledt over rice from last night to make special fried rice nom nom
    4) gbf came round to take photos of me for his latest photo group homework. Of course i wore my new dress :-) (projext all about different lighting - very interesting)

    Evening everyone :hello:

Great weekend, but how come it always goes far too quickly?

My pleasures for the past couple of days:

    1) Free entry into Cadbury World for DH and I. However, it was part of a teacher preview thing to do the risk assessment. Well worth it as I can prime the cherubs for things which might frighten them. Just hope the packing machines are working when we visit as a class - they'll love it!

    2) Stayed with DH's twin sister last night & went out on the town. Well, a couple of drinks and a meal. All very lovely and good to see her & her boyfriend. When does a boyfriend become a partner?? They've been together for 12+ years and yet we still refer to him as her boyfriend.

    3) DH has cleaned the bathroom. :j

    4) Visit to T*sco for a bit of a shop. Stuff for packed lunches etc. Used a voucher for my shampoo. :money:

    5) Planning done!

    6) Rail tickets bought for a few weeks time. Earned Nectar points on some as they've linked with the First group to offer Nectar points. Cashback on another journey (oh, the joy of split ticketing!).

Right, time to head to bed. Night all. x
