It's surprising how many schools go to Cadburys World! Bigger son went because his class did a project on South America - bit of a tenuous link! (We've also been as a family)0

It's Thursday morning here and I am typing on ye olde netbook, which constantly seizes and freezes and is usually used once a month for banking. My ipad (which I use all the time) charger has broken, so until I get a new one, it's internet the olden days way!
I had a lovely Wednesday off work and again was most industrious with a little break in the afternoon to recline on the sofa with my book.
I semi gutted my son's bedroom. He can do the rest but I needed to pull his bed out so I could get in to wash the windows. Just yuk! I ventured upstairs to the other room of doom and tiptoed back downstairs again...that's todays treat. One very tidy daughter... one an absolute midden.
popped up to library to hand in some magazines to swap box, including some UK mags I had from when we were home. I always feel a bit sad but I've read them and will let someone else have the pleasure of reading them. Borrowed a few more mags and one library book.
Posted letters.
Popped into Salvos (Salvation Army Charity Shop) and bought a nice dress/long top. A couple of weeks ago I had seen an unusual blue (kind of denby blue shade) pumpkin shaped soup tureen, ladle and 6 bowls. i liked it for it's quirkiness and pumpkiness. Anyway, I asked had it been sold and no it hadn't and she would take $10 off if I wanted it...oh, okay then! DD2 asked if I had been Salvo-ing?
Home, sausage roll for lunch and a flick through mags and then ironed and ironed, had washed all the kids beddings and just about got everything dried on the line, although my days of washing in and out in half an hour have gone for the next 6 months!
Then I started to move furniture around ....more to be done today. Our family room is very dark as it's wood panelled throughout and not much natural light coming in.( compared to beautifully light front room) It's the only room with a TV point so if you want to watch telly you have to sit in there. I had asked about painting the panelling and landlords had said yes but paint is very expensive here ( about 4 times as much for a tin in UK) and I have not had the spare cash to spend on several tins of paint for a house that isn't ours. Anyway, I moved my large cream dresser bottom that was in our bedroom( with my clothes in it.....now scattered across bedroom floor) and that has lightened the room enough to satisfy me for now!
I then sorted through clothes and have various piles....some for Salvos, some for DD1 if she wants them and some for jammy tops!
Made a very tasty dinner of chicken and leek pie and mashed potatoes and veg.
Today, more of the same and grocery shopping required as public holiday for Anzac Day and back to work tomorrow.
Purple Kitten and Skintos , I hope you are okay? And our wee chooky chicken wherever you are?0 -
Frith I think I can guess, it's your mention of the little jacket that gives it away? And the likeness to your sister?
Kittikins the placement school sounds lovely! And close to home too, a bonus
VJsmum hope your leg is feeling a little better each day
1. Turned the heating off last night - I was warm then but it was blooming cold getting out of the shower this morning!
2. DD and I had our shopping morning today (late due to Bank Holidays), got some bargains but left a bag of shopping at the self service till in @sda. Fortunately someone had handed it in so I have to go back for it tomorrow
3. Went to @ldi and bought supplies for Weds fellowship meetings. Got enough for 3 weeks and saved about 30% on Mr M prices
4. Mowed the lawn, squeezed a few more plants in the tubs/troughs. It rained just as I finished, perfect timing
5. Fun meeting with friends this evening, celebrating 3 birthdays! Chocolate cake all round
Sweet dreams0 -

It'll be the first time that I've ever been with a class, but our topic is "Chocolate". We'll link that in with history and geography too & all our writing in Literacy. Also good for Numeracy... (this is what I'm convincing myself!)
Kittikins - I will confirm whether or not there is a river of chocolate. There MUST be....Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Snap! DD's school all did chocolate as their topic last term
One of my friends is a chocolatier and went in and did workshops with all 4 classes, nomnom.
Wonder what topic I'll be doing at my new school? Dying to pop over, but as it's secret squirrel at the moment, I need to wait until Monday to call.....(and the school website is pretty pants, so no clues there).0 -
Morning
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Even though not been shopping this week managed to put together a decent packed lunch for OH and DD.
2. I went out for lunch with some people I used to work with. Great to catch up and yummy food
3. DM liked the birthday presents we had left at her house for her to open today. We had taken her to the theatre last week so just a few bits for her to have something to open on the day.
4. While DD was at parents she did some digging on the internet about a court case she was involved in several years ago and while we have never not spoken about it she now has more details. I didn't enjoy the conversations about it but the pleasure is she is facing what happened head on and hopefully will help in the continuing to move on.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Let’s get ready to Jumble
Alas, & you forgets to read the rules on games when playing BoP. My Ace was laid, on my down faced King. You quickly laid you Knave, some so called Frying Dutchman. He may be good in the far off distant land, next visit shall be one way, but my King is Becketts. Ernie Becketts that is so, Market Plaice, Cleethorpes, just opposite Steel’s Corner House. In pontoon, banker takes all. I thank you. Oh, and always the Jumbo Haddock, with mushy peas. Jelly and Ice cream to finish on.
Anyone else want to chance it with Fish the Boys from Grimsby water?
Now, we have had pictures galore this week, from barges to groups. Tatties, but no tattie field. Stories and typewriters. And even more chocolate than you could shake a … But if you look, it has to be real chocolate, not that vegetable fat stuff. On secret squirrels, Raffles has seen of the grey!
5 Have you noticed that you can never pass an eye test. Now, do optometrists deliberately fail people to keep themselves in employment. We need answers to this and other question we have in this corner of the parish. Such as I BoP really such a jolly decent ruffian or the thing of nightmares
4 Is Raffles the biggest bundle of fluff since Isis thirst appeared on the parish newsletter. Or is it ffriths kittens that have been let loose that creates all of our bother. Any how, there is still no visual signs of the feast he bought himself last eve.
3 Still on abouts last eve. Rescued a BoPsie from the ravens, and we had a curry and a pint each. That was after a visit, to get Raffes some cat food at W8Rz. And we got lots of delicious Lindt mini eggs cheap. Other varieties are available, but they a no so nice. I nose hows to keep BoPsie sweet! There yous see, proper stuff, not that fun fair, and the chocolate made in Poland!
2 Nite I have not decided what to do yet! Still Thursday and curry is being eaten the now
1 Abandon all hope those that play cards with BoP0 -

Ampersand - I'll be the one who doesn't look like my sister! I've got short black hair and was wearing a polka dotty dress.
Pleasures for today:
1) A lie in.
2) Sons are coming back tomorrow, not Sunday. :-)
3) Went to the allotment and all OK there. Did weeding and watering.
4) Went round the charity shops and bought Monopoly for smaller son (can't believe we have never owned it!) and a jumper for my brother.
5) Popped into B and Q for paint and varnish for dad who is doing lots of jobs while mum is on holiday.
6) Went to Sainsburys and (as well as groceries) got a new kettle! The switch broke on my old one months ago and it wouldn't turn off automatically and sometimes turned itself on without warning.
7) Sent late Easter presents to my college friend's children.
8) Popped to see dad and brother and had my tea there.
9) Sister and brother in law popped in on the way home from their honeymoon.
10) Planted some spare nastursium and poppy seeds in the front flower bed.
11) Made a banana cake so will have a slice in a minute whilst watching Ripping Yarns (one of my most favourite series ever - BBC4).
12) Rather enjoyed the Archers this evening!
13) Cleaned all downstairs here.
14) Fire is going nicely.
15) Just spoken to my mum in Malta!0 -
