Evening all
CCP - Thank you so much. I am really enjoying my new found craftyness!!
Ollie - Thank you for being my first follower and the comment. I really appreciate it.
Right mine for today quick as I have to finish my angel thing, have 3 to make that are ordered :T and the little boy who I made the sock dog for ages ago no long has it. His brother lots of so will make him another. Or at least start all of these and finish them at weekend!
1 Toddler group today. We played with playdough (homemade) so I got covered in flour - makes a change from paint!!
2 Under 5's cooking. Dd and ds2 made cheese scones and raisen scones - very nice with strawberries and cream that the teacher brought in especially for the mums!!
3 Dh getting home early so he could actually see the kids today - must be first time this week he has managed to spend time with them!
4 Cheesey pasta for tea and it was lovely!
5 Kids having an early night as all really tired for some reason so I am can get on with sewing!!
Have a good evening all.0 -
1. Went to DD's first school assembly today
2. Bumped into an acquaintance I've not seen for about 18 months and enjoyed the compliments on my new figure
3. More healthy/YS bargains in shops
4. One of my friends reimbursed me for theatre tickets, I'm now starting my next savings target, amazing how much I can save when I put my mind to it!
5. Remembered a blessing from yesterday - theatre has told me that I can transfer tickets for a children's play to another date as the original date now clashes with DD's tap exam.
6. Free Mr W magazines to read tonight
7. DD and I made vegan fairy cakes this morning and they're rather yummy...but DD doesn't like them, grrr. I think I need to tweak the recipe a bit, or maybe if I put some icing and sprinkles on in the morning, they'll taste better for her.
Off to bed in a moment, DD is up there as a special treat but I'm not feeling 100% so hope I'm not coming down with something before my night out tomorrow!! Night all0 -
Evening everyone,
Mine for today:
1. DD being up and dressed this morning when I got up so didn't have to nag and shout at her to be ready in time which is the usual in our house on a morning:D
2. Chatting to my mum on the phone this morning on my way to work. She has been out of the country for a couple of days so haven't spoken to her. We normally talk to each other every day so good to catch up on two days of missed chatting.
3. Being invited to both my step nephews weddings this year, one in april and the other in August. Just need to sort out holiday and travel as both in the north.
4. Very busy day at work but I much prefer that to being bored. Tomorrow is going to be manic though so maybe not so good.
5. Not OS but yummy had fish and chips for dinner followed by a YS cream doughnut
extra one tonight;
6. Getting a farm foods leaflet through the door so 4 more money off coupons for shopping at Mr.T, have managed to use a voucher every week so far this year and have enough to last till mid April now:money:
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening all
I'll have to be quick as I'm feeling really sleepy and I'm slightly worried I'm going to doze off mid-post.
Bella - I'm sorry to hear your aunt is having trouble adapting to her new circumstances. I really hope she'll settle in soon.
Ladyhawk - well done with your interview, even if you / they do decide it won't come to anything. At least you've tried and know you're OK where you are (subject to the pay rise, of course).
Kittikins - sorry you're feeling off-colour - I hope you feel better in the morning.
Tealady - fish and chips and a cream doughnut? You lucky, lucky bunny!
My five for today:
1) Nearly all my daffodils have buds on now, and the one nearest the house has started showing a bit of colour (it's a white one - they were new last autumn, from a mixed pack, so it's quite fun waiting for them to come out so I can see what they all are).
2) Made porridge for breakfast and it was just right - not so thick I could cut it into slices, and not so thin it was like milk with oats floating in it. Looks like I've finally got the hang of porridge, just as we're getting to spring and I won't want it anymore.
3) Filled out my appraisal preparation form at work - I've been putting it off for ages as it's such a nuisance job, but it's good to know it's done.
4) Went to the last of my evening classes. I couldn't do much as my cut thumb's still quite sore, but it was nice to sit and chat and eat hobnobs.
5) Retrieved my last project - a pair of yellow glass beads that I will turn into - yes - more earrings!
Have a good evening, everyone - I must go and zzzz....Back after a very long break!0 -
What a lovely thread...... :A
I hope you don't mind me joining in. Spring was really in evidence today as....
1. I saw my first fully opened daffodil this morning.
2. Watched the first two little lambs I've seen this year in a field with their mum.
3. Two blue tits are going in & out of our nesting box with twigs and moss etc (is this not early??)
4. I got a huge line of washing line dried :j (Thank you sun)
5. Buds are on a plant in my garden, but I can't remember what it is
All this gave me great pleasure, and all were free :j:j:DNow thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker0 -
5 for today!
1) Took a small Viking to school this morning! He had my shirt (like a tunic), my suede waistcoat with fur, a belt with a pouch hanging from it, hat and plaits!
2) Booked 2 appointments for parent evening and got consecutive slots.
3) Came home and changed the bunk beds and did various admin type jobs and had a tidy.
4) Mum took me to Sainsburys (car not mended yet) and I thought out 6 meals, got the right stuff and stocked the store cupboard up a bit.
5) Went swimming with sons and my brother.
Always a bit of bad news, though! Dad gave us a lift to school this morning and someone shot out of their driveway and hit his car. Dad is a bit funny about cars (he used to build his own!) so we had a lot of muttering and peering at the paintwork. :-( There was no damage, thank goodness.
Then after tea tonight, one of the boys next door had to go to hospital in an ambulance and I looked after the others until their mum got there (not for long). He's ill very often so I think his parents probably have a routine for it but it was quite awful watching him being carried out by one of the paramedics. There were 2 ambulances and an ambulance car! so 3 other neighbours came to see what had happened.
One more good thing!
Both boys are dressing up for World Book Day so I've been getting the costumes ready. Bigger son is going as Grandad Joe from Charlie and the C Factory so he's got his shirt, Dad's tie, trousers and a flat cap. Little son is going as Harry Potter so ordinary clothes, glasses, a besom (courtesy of mum and dad) and a felt tipped scar!
L0 -
1. Did a little bit of work in the garden, preparing my raised beds for planting.
2. Made a massive amount fo dog mixer/biscuit.
3. Ate the last of my home made yoghurt...i'm reserving a bit for the next batch.
4. Visited my folks and we stayed for dinner, Mum had used some soup mix I gave her, in a lovely casserole. Very filling and warming.
5. Had a supper of some home made date scones my mum had baked and given to me.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
NSD Challenge: October 0/140 -
Yoooooooooohoooooo! Im heeeeerreeeeee!!!!
Get a large coffee (*or gin!), sit back, relax, as regulars know, this could take some time! (alternatively you can scroll my post, I wont be offended!) So going from where I last posted *touches ear Phillip Schofield styllee* In no particular order ...
Sparrer - by the time you get this, hope you had a fab time! Can't wait to hear all about it
Houself - we dont get TV where we are, but I do watch catch up on the PC, what channel is pie in the sky! Im curious now! Unfortunately, we tried unsuccessfully to contact the guy, the number he gave us was not in useso we didn't manage to interview him. Lucky you on free lunch! And cant wait to see the costume pics of peach
Megsmum, well done on the invite, some of these groups are pretty particular on invites! Hope the list went well
SavingforOZ - was the film good? I have seen it advertsied, but am always sceptical as they usual show the best bits in the ad, and the film is a let down - would love to hear. If you feel brave enough to post the link to your story, I would truly love to read itAnd in fairness, I am classed as strange!
Ollie - wonderful post as alwaysand I was trying to upload to imageshack,so I could post the link to the pic, have used it for years but i think its a firefox thing lately
. What a wonderful relationship you have with your daughter for her to want you at her session
I have virtually lost contact with my mum (long story) and I dont even think she knows I had councelling for two years....
CCP - its how i got into it! Writing my questions and thoughts, then not wanting to miss anyone! And ofc Ollie helped with her tips of how she does it! Sorry to hear your thumb is still playing up - Im sure the hobnobs were medicinal tho! :rotfl::whistle:
Nutty - your blog is fabulous! You are so clever, are they really made from socks???? or is it just the name? Its a great blog, the links are fab, keep it up, I will be watching with interest, Im just not brave enough to have my pic taken so havent joined as such. good news on orders already!
Bella, so sorry to hear your aunt is down, it must be so hard for her to adjust all of a sudden, and a worry for you. As she gets better though, her independance will return, and she will brighten, its just a shock to discover we aren't invincible, especially at her age. Glad the wardens etc are being a support.
Caterina - the pie sounds yummy! Is it just like a fish pie using only mackeral? I can imagine the topping worked really well. As for scales and book, In my lost post of last night, I said they would be worth it, and if it made you happy, its all goodGlad they are what you wanted
Ladyhawk - glad the interview went well, and that regardless of the outcome, you got something out of it either way
Kitty - awww at DDs assembly, bet it was lovelyshame she wasnt impressed with the cakes lol! And its always good when your sacrifice (thats the other word for diet !) pays off with compliments
Tealady - sounds like a busy day! and 2 weddings - 2 new hats! (wanted to say shoes, but they are everyday things! :j
Westywoodpecker! Welcome to the best most lovely thread on OShope to see you as often as you have time
My daffy bulbs arent through yet and you have open ones ! Im not jealous - honest....
Acey - the costumes sound great! very imaginative, and Im sorry about your neighbours kiddie, good job you were there, but it must have felt horrid, as I am sure the car accident was - glad there was no permanent damage.
Katholics - how do you make yoghurt? I truly have no idea but it sounds yum! Also interested in HM dog food / mix but it doesnt sound quite as yum!
Oki so mine... its been a mixed bag of a day!
1) I posted some ingredients I had to use up, and got loads of responses (they werent your typical ingredients as you can imagine, and am so grateful of the responses, it was lovely, and the choccy brownies were yum !
2) Got a response from a lovely man on ebay that means staff tee shirts this year are a great price - £120 for 30 tee shirts (£4 a shirt!!!!) inc delivery to me, he isnt charging for delivery, (we are classed as highlands so is normally ridiculous!) I still have to do the embroidery of name, but the investment in a machine that does it 2 years ago is paying off
3) A bad potentially turned out not so bad as first thought! The other day one of my 2 microwaves ate itself (think I posted lol) and they are £1100 new. Checked ebay £300 for 2nd hand oneBUT! went on ebay today having received a quote to repair it at £400, (its a magnetron! remember that!) Went to ebay, not only was a magnetron £23.99 + 6 postage.. and we have nothing to lose if OH cant mend it (having never mended one, but he is quite handy and practical lol) there is one just outside glasgow for pick up preferred at 99p! I cant be that lucky lol! watch this space!
4) The girls.. my five would not be complete without a girls post! Its not enough that I dont sort out food fast enough and they have to help, today, I went in, and one flew up onto my arm! not a big thing to none hen keepers! But they just dont do that! They like company, will follow, peck your shoes, anythign shiny on you etc, but arent eager for fuss or direct contact, so I cant believe she just jumped up at me and onto my arm carrying food! Ok so it was for the food, but it was still a lovely thing to experience
5) It was all going so well, then the Ice machine packed in.... it never rains it pours, just when you think you are getting somewhere. New ones are ridiculous, but the man who came to service my fridges at the same time as check the Ice machine was lovely (and only 2 of my 4 fridges needed re gassing halving the anticipated bill!) not only did he say he knew of someone wanting to sell an ice machine in the area for a reasonable price, but he also thinks he knows of someone who wants a glass fronted fridge that we happen to have standing doing nothing in the cellar, so hopefully it will go towards paying for a new ice machineHe also said they could take the machine in part ex if needed!
*sneaks in a 6!*
6) what do you mean its supposed to be 5! There is so much to tell (proving this life is sad and i need to get out more seeing as I am reduced to being happy about bins!)
A lovely lady came from the council today about our bins! what with the composting, the hens eating most of my leftovers etc, I felt we could reduce to one bin, if we could get a cardboard recycling bin. (we already recylce all glass and cans) turns out, if I get a cardboard bin, I will SAVE yes SAVE £600 per year on reducing one of my 2 normal bins, and paying for a cardboard one great for the envoronment and saving too boot!. Also, I can get a plastics one BUT! In the discussion, I was talking about me waiting on ordering plastic to make my old coal shed into a greenhouse, but it was £70 for the plastic, she came up with something she had seen, which may also be of interest to Houself and all you guys who teach or help at nursery as well as those who think a greenhouse is just too expensive, an easy project - its a greenhouse made of old plastic bottles and looks so easy and amazing! - pdf linky : http://www.reapscotland.org.uk/reports/greenhouse%20v1.pdf
I will make only the panels i need to convert my coal shed, but am thinking of making the full thing for another area I have earmarked as potential growing space near the hen house! The other thing as well is that apparently we own the actual bins, so I foresee a very neat and tidy composting bin once we know for sure that we only need one!
Sorry, I waffled and I just cant seem to do one line here are my 5, I envy people who can!!!! I start with the best of intentions, then it all goes wrong!
As I said feel free to scroll!
Have a lovely day
JexI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
Good Morning Everyone - What a wonderful thread. I am so pleased to be a member of this forum. I must be quick because the dogs are nudging me with their damp noses to remind me that the woods wait (the puppy loves to snoofle up all the rabbit poop from last night and the ball-dog feels that life isnt worth living unless you are chasing a bouncing object ...) So - here are mine from yesterday ...
1. Cleared up a broken washing up bowl, choccy bar wrapper and orange peel from the woods on our walk yesterday and binned them when we got home. Our little wood was bought by the village (donations from all who wanted to/could afford) and is managed for all to use. The kids make Ray Mears type dens and we all keep an eye ... anyway I did my bit yesterday and made the world a more beautiful place.
2. Nice chat with a neighbour about keeping hens. She is coming on Sat with her daughter to see about having our old henhouse
3. Home made lemon curd on HM bread. Mmmmmmm
4. Chatting to another friend about the virtues of always wearing matching underwear! lol
5. Hubby being home before it was dark!!
Off to the woods with the dogs!

Morning everyone!
Jexygirl, no, I wouldn't recommend "The Lovely Bones" - it was OK, but pretty cheesy in places. The book was much better.
My 5 for yesterday:
1. A lovely sunny day in Bristol, and the dock area looked lovely in the sunshine, and I saw lots of beautiful crocuses and snowdrops as I drove home.
2. Completing my short story to first draft stage - yay! Now comes the hard work of polishing it up so it's ready to be published. This is the part that I really enjoy, but it's not easy.
3. Unexpected visit from my brother and his girlfriend last night.
4. Big plate of yummy savoury rice for tea, with plenty left over for lunch today.
5. Getting an email from my friend who's in Vietnam right now, telling me what a good time he's having. Makes me look forward to when I go there later this year.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0
