Hi All - So lovely to hear everyones news - its like walking down a village street and stopping to chat to friends at every house!! I so admire all the strength you all show in face of your difficulties.
Here are mine from yesterday
1. Managed some tricky quasi legal letters/emails with just the right degree of firmness. (Trying to buy a house - dont ask!)
2. Walking to a village "do" in the sunshine and enjoying the views over the valley.
3. Seeing 2 bees flying in the garden, imagining them having their first poo for weeks (they only poo out of the hive and wont fly if its too cold so will have been holed-up for weeks!)
4. Sharing memories of Scotland with a guy at the History Soc meeting
5. Having a lovely chat with my son and dil. (Son has got his compensation for having his leg, hand and face mangled by a woman in a car when he was riding his bike to work.Totally her fault - a case of SMIDSY. Had to wait nearly 2 1/2 years. The accident has ruined his sporting career and will cause him great difficulty as he gets older (probably have to have knee replacement). The compo for this £21000 ....) Anyway glad its all settled now and they are coming down to stay with us for a few days soon.
See you all tomz. Hope to be able to start my list with good news about the house. Fingers crossed!

Good Morning all :hello: - looking fairly bright so far - fingers crossed that it gets as nice as yesterday
.
savingforoz - wtg to your brother for getting you that scart-lead :j.
Good luck with the trip-planning for Easter Island and Chile. Is that Gizmo in your avatar pic?
pepsimax - hope your son enjoyed his birthday party and wd you on making your own cakes for it. awww don't they look gorgeous when they're sleeping :A.
Reverbe - wtg on all your lovely trial products :T AND another focus group.
newlywed - it must be great to be back to normal again - and you now have one of those 'horrendously hilarious family stories' to recall in the future- never remotely funny at the time of happening, but always side-splitting in the retelling :rotfl:. Best of Luck to your OH with his training and his run
.
Caterina - wd on your bargain zip - one of those things that I never throw away when clothes are getting dumped - 40p is brilliant! wd on your bargain Co-op shop and great to hear that your cousin is back home again now.
zarazara - good luck with the veg planting - your post sounded lovely and cosy.
nuttybabe - 'fairy monkeys' sound good! wd to your ds1 with his reading.
GirlySquare - your dp does sound wonderful - such a supportive chap to have around.
Ladyhawk - awww sorry to hear that you fell foul of the congestion charge  - must be horrendous working in London now. Best of Luck for your interview. By the way, your HM Soup sounds .
jem1276 - good to hear that your cat has stopped limping - I used to hate it when I knew Tiggy-Tiger had been in a scrap.
CCP - Wd you on your No.4 - they take too many liberties! My bug-bear is unsolicited phone calls that originate outside the UK :mad:.
Kittikins - wd on helping your friend to get a job :T. wtg on your CC refund into your holiday fund :j.
Tealady - I love these lighter mornings too and always hate when it changes again in a couple of weeks after we put the clocks forward. wd on the pressie stashing
.
ACEY - omg - please get that car looked at, ACEY - can't take any chances with steering problems. Can you make an appeal or a complaint about the SW's report? Surely that can't be allowed to happen in view of the last report. lol at the 'deer poo identifying' expedition in the forest :rotfl:.
jexygirl - lol at the 'great escape'. Good to hear that you've done your interviews and chosen for your 'Team' for the coming season - hope all goes well and that they all gel together. Exciting time of the year for you - good luck with your plans.
sparrer - at your washing machine - something so simple causing those problems - hope you can get it sorted quickly. congrats on your phonecall to the airline and wd them on how they've helped you :T - great to hear of GOOD Customer Service for a change :j.
alisong - busy day you've had thereand wd to your team :T.
bella - enjoy your trip to see your Aunt, I'm sure she'll be delighted to see you - safe journey.
Megs mum - good luck with the letters - hope they have the desired effect. Wd to your son on finally getting his compensation - ridiculous how long these things can take. Have a great weekend with them both.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Delicious toast, marmalade and porridge for brekkie.
2. Progress made on a couple of things in work that had been 'hanging around' for ages - good to see the back of those particular problems.
3. Visit from DS2 and Billy-blue-eyes in the afternoon - weren't here for long but lovely to see them both.
4. Spicey Turkey and Pasta for evening meal with some Plum Crumble for afters.
5. More work on my family tree in the evening - coming along nicely now. Furthest back is Oliphant 1777 in Cockermouth, Cumberland :j.
That's me done for now - need to get ready for work - pop in again later - bye for now - love Ollie xxx0 -
Just a quick visit, as I'm passing!
jexy - have you ever seen the film Chicken Run? It sounds like your hens have been getting ideas!
Acey - I'm really sorry you're still having problems with your ex. I assumed that, once the judge had made his decision, that would be the end of it - it's a real shame (to say the least) that that doesn't seem to be the case. And please try to get your car looked at if you possibly can - it doesn't sound at all safe at the moment.
sparrer - that's brilliant customer service from the airline - it's nice to know there's still some companies around that know what the phrase means!
Megs mum - I'm glad your son got his compensation eventually. It's quite ridiculous how long these things take, isn't it?
I'll pop in again later and catch up on how everyone's doing.Back after a very long break!0 -
Here's mine for yesterday (started out in a bad mood ended up in a good mood luckily):
1) DS1 got an invite to a regional Scout prize-giving event for getting his Silver Award when he was in cubs.
2) I will very begrudgingly admit that the extremely long detour cos of the road works is at least taking us past some very nice old houses, a farm and a Norman looking church that I've never seen before.
3) Sun is still shining.
4) Getting excited thinking about what veg we will be attempting in pots this year. Have ordered some blue and red conservation seed potatoes to try this year.
5) Roast chicken dinner was stretched to four meals, including a roast dinner soup, chicken, sweetcorn and noodle soup plus chicken pasta for tea tonight.
Wishing everyone many pleasures and blessings today.:)DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi all
I have lost it a bit today and spent some unplanned money, got myself the 40s look book, the We'll eat again book and also a vintage looking set of scales from Amazon - I know it is not so very much money but for someone who was meant to do a low spend in March I am not exactly exercising caution! Never mind, tomorrow is another day...
Anyway, here are mine for the day:
1 - Porridge for breakfast with DS (in true Ration Book diet style), only a teensy weensy splash of syrup and a teaspoon of sugar on it - made the porridge with half water half oat milk, too.
2 - Morning spent tidying up bits and pieces, managed to give away all my Prima mags to a friend (after removing some of the patterns that I liked) and a lot of other mags to another friend. I am going to put the permaculture ones on Freecycle and have promised the Italian eco-mags to an Italian woman who lives locally and is interested in all things eco.
3 - The cleaner let me down, which is good because it saved me some money and made me decide that as soon as I have 3 hours free in a stretch I am going to do the bl**$£^** cleaning myself!
4 - Nice "wartime" soup for lunch, red lentils with carrots, celery, onion and a little macaroni - decided I am not really in wartime so I am going to allow myself spices, so I added a tsp turmeric and it was lovely! Only a few drops of oil on it so very healthy!
5 - Got my Prima mag in the post, nice reading with cup of camomile in bed anticipated!
6 - Planning nice bean soup and coleslaw for dinner
7 - Managed to keep the heating off during the day and will be off during the evening too (dubious pleasure, this one!). Kept hands warm while working by drinking lots of cups of (very weak - to keep ration ok LOL) tea.
8 - I suppose that the stuff I bought on Amazon classes as a lot of pleasure, even if I am feeling a bit guilty for the money spent.
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi Everyone.
Caught up on another couple of days worth of pleasures
Boy did I need cheering up after yesterdays 'trying' day:eek:
DD had her college laptop stolen and her own laptop will cost £500+ to repair. (Both her own fault:mad:). DH working late, so I was 'it' last night. ACEY don't know how you do it. I would be rubbish as a single mum.
Somehow 5 for yesterday
1. Stopped at Mr M on the way home from work and got lots of YS bargains. Just about managed to stuff everything in the freezer!:money:
2. Lasagne for tea was yummy. DD and DS1 cleaned their plates. If only DS2 would eat propper food I would be v happy.
3. Caught the end of a programme about Skippy on BBC4 (?) Must try to find it on iPlayer.
4. Dog liked the Lasagne. Should have called her Garfield?
5. No school work last night as there were no kids in today as it was an Annual Review day.
Will do todays later. Need to cook tea..........
Laters HE0 -
I've still got a lot of catching up to do so will be back soon. Not many pleasures today - seems to be having one of those ones.. discovered that last night when I was at my focus group something must have ripped my only pair of best jeans(a very beloved pair of skinny Levis they dont make the style of anymore) then that reminded me of the other new with tags pair I have at my OH's house who I havent seen since May 2008.Then this afternoon I was on my facebook account tidying my profile when I noticed that the last lad to ever pay interest in me had actually posted a pic(I found him but wasnt sure if it was him til he did this). Turns out he got married a couple of weeks ago and now I am just feeling very down and feeling a failure in many respects. Will do my best to find some pleasures tho ..
Hope everyone else is having a better dayWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Good evening everyone.
Here's my five for today:
1) Had a shower this morning without the water temperature disappearing and the shower dousing me in ice cold water, which it does with depressing frequency usually.
2) My celandines have buds on them.
3) Managed to acquire a pair of earrings that I have had my eye on for several weeks with 20% off - I shouldn't really have bought more earrings but they were a bargain and will go so nicely with my new purple jumper.
4) We've had to cancel a planned meal out with friends from work as several people can't make it on Friday after all. Just as we were starting to think about rearranging a 2for1 voucher for Pizza Hut landed in my inbox - pizza here we come!
5) Made a chicken pasta dish for dinner (it's cooking as I type) - it was meant to be the last of last weekend's rubber chicken, but there's still plenty left for a chicken, lettuce and mayo sandwich for lunch tomorrow. I love this rubber chicken - it's gone on for days!
Have a nice evening, all!Back after a very long break!0 -
savingforoz I agree, do we get to proofread your magnum opus?
Ladyhawk good luck for the interview
ACEY please take your car to the garage, like jexy said, you'll get the money back somehow

Reverbe you're so definitely a success, just look back at your posts here to prove it!
My five for today:
1) tea and porridge in bed courtesy of dp
2) cuddles from dd this morning
3) discovering that mum got back to the hospital okay yesterday, though step-dad is still ranting over consultant's letter. She told my sister that the house was freezing, here's hoping this will help her decide to consider sheltered housing instead
4) hot chocolate with cream at Costa Coffee today
5) yummy hm chicken and stuffing pie for tea using last week's leftover roast
6) receiving Good Housekeeping and Glamour mags in post today
7) finding hair straighteners for dsd's Xmas stocking reduced from £30 to £8 in Lloyds chemists"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
