MegsMum - I'm chuckling at the thought of bee poo!
1. N0rthern Exposure DVDs arrived, second class post is the best! Posted on Monday afternoon in Scotland, down in Brighton Wednesday morning. Gawd bless the R0yal Mail
2. Qu!dco money arrived and has been transferred, I only need £11 to hit my spending/petrol money target for Whitsun. Then I'll move on to the 2 weeks in France holiday......shame I need 2 new chests of drawers, carpets, new back door, yadda yadda yadda....holidays are more fun ;0)
3. A lovely friend went to a neighbouring town to pick up my new computer cupboard and lug it up my stairs, it looked very heavy...and it looks gorgeous at my house. It's not yet where I want it to be, but I need to ask someone to dismantle my desk and put it back up in the loft where it came from a week or so ago, lol....but I will have a lovely spare room !!! office soon and will hopefully work from home a bit more, yay.
4. Managed to keep my cool when a gazillion people who have absolutely nothing to do with my team came up throughout the day to ask me how to do X, could I show them the right way to do Y, and who should they speak to about Z!! By the time I left work, I was itching to tell the next person to naff off though, grrrrr.
5. Lost 1lb yesterday but won't be losing any tomorrow as I kind of lost the plot this evening and have eaten naughty food. Oh well, no point beating myself up about it!
6. DD was very helpful at the school book fair we volunteered at this afternoon, I can't quite believe I was the only parent who volunteered in the entire school though and will be doing it again tomorrow (poor show fellow parents, books are important!!), and she was very proud of her sticker in 'payment' for helping. She was exhausted though and asked if she could go to bed at 6, in the end we turned the light out at quarter to 7, but it's an improvement on the usual 7pm get ready for bed routine.
7. Wore my favourite new dress today and was told I don't really need to lose much more weight now, shame the scales say I still have 4 stone to go, lol, but nice all the same!
8. Realised this morning that I'd been overcharged by a huge amount on one of my YS items in yesterday's shopping, so poppped in to Mr T's this morning to get a refund0 -
Hi there all!!
New to this thread but I love the idea of counting the simple pleasures in life so thought i would give it a go.
1. Several of the kids at school saying they really liked my top and it was a great colour, completely without prompting or hidden agendas!
2. Finally getting round to sorting out all the costumes from last drama performance and getting a shoe tidy and a couple of scarves for myself out of it.
3. Phoning my Grandad and hearing he is ok and thanking him for the wonderful sewing box he sent me. Good to know he's ok.
4. Admiring the lovely roses BF got me. :happyhear
5. Using the materials in my new sewing box to sew the lining of my coat, fix a pocket and sew some trousers! Nice warm glow.0 -
I've left our old tapeplayer (for bedtime story tapes) at mum's so I've got YouTube blaring from the laptop so the boys can hear it from their room! Its a bit distracting when I'm typing... (its Saint Saens, finale from Symphony no 3, by the way, they usually ask for The Planets!)
Anyway, 5 for today...
1) Wobbled the car over to college and did another 2 hours of assessment! Only got an hour more to do next week then we find out pretty much straight away if we've passed this part.
2) Went into town on the way home to get my hair cut. They had double booked but I got a nice turkey baguette from the sandwich shop.
3) Got the boys from school then we went to our most local garage (sadly, 2 villages away so a good 5 miles). I described what it was like and the man was very chatty and not at all patronising. He took it for a drive and came back looking a bit scared! Up on the ramp, you could see the near side wheel wobbling about as the wishbone (like a strut thing?) is falling apart! Weirdly, I had the same thing happen on my last Fiesta. The same thing is happening on the other wheel and a gaiter thing is leaking oil so the total bill will be £157. The whole car only cost me £250! Its 18 years old but has only done 67,000 miles so I hope its worth this repair...
4) My brother picked us up from the garage and had been here in the day and replaced the gate post for me so the garden gate has something to shut against now.
5) Just working on my bigger son's costume for Viking day tomorrow. They also both have to have costumes for Friday (for World Book Week). So far I've sorted out one of my shirts to make him a tunic, a belt, my ancient 2nd hand suede waistcoat, some beads and I've made him 2 plaits!
6) Going to make some flapjacks now, I think.

Evening Peeps,
Feeling verrrrrry sleeeeeeepppyyyy tonight... 12 hour day in the office with 10 minutes for lunch. All very stressful and tiring.
1) Telling HR that I am not going to sign my new contract as my working hours are 4 more per week than anyone else my level for no benefit (previously I had 3 days extra holiday - now everyone has the same number of days). So hopefully my pay will stay the same and my hours will reduce....
2) One of the dessert suppliers came in for a meeting and brought samples... I had a strawberry creamy moussey thing
3) Getting a hug from a friend at work because I am going on hols and he is going to miss me. I am not a touchy feely type of person but he's a nice genuine guy that meant nothing by it.
4) Selling my old sofa and computer desk on ebay... they got a bargain but I don't care, I just want them out of my flat!
5) Got a nice email from my friend in Swaziland... always good to hear from her.
Right... am off for an early night...
Sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening everyone,
Acey - glad to hear you had your car looked at
Jexy - Please keep posting, your posts are great
Mine for today
1. Waking up this morning to birds singing

3. Receiving a free simple lip balm in the post so DD happy as she claimed that
4. Bolognaise with Gnocci for dinner and DD going back for seconds. She is having a growth spurt at the moment and impossible to fill up.
5. Realising that the freezer door hadn't been closed properly  before everything defrosted.0 -

2. Watching the cats lol about in the sunshine
3. Downloading a new podcast to listen to
4. Making some lovely soft rolls for the week
5. Watching a dvd and eating popcorn instead of spending my money and going out to the cinemaFeb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
ARRRGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Just got to the end of my reply post, that took AAAggessss!, and was uploading pics for my 5.. when firefox crashed.... it restored my tabs, but lost my post - that SUCKS!
I am too tired to redo it, which is probably a relief to you all !!!! ( you lucky people!)
Thank you for the lovely words all, and glad you all found 5 pleasures:) , and welcome to Aberrisford
my five - without pics in case it does the crash thing again!
1) My lovely girls layed 5 more eggs again today, and are more trusting by the dayI love going into the house (followed by 2 or 3 that "talk at me" as I go in) and finding fresh eggs, so I scrambled them and we all had scrambled eggs on toast before we opened which was lovely
2) took buster for a walk up the back, its been too boggy to go far lately, but with yet another frost, I decided to brave it (its much easier going up than coming down!) and along the edges of the burn are some beautiful icicles that must have formed when it was running faster, as we went higher, I was able to take a picture from a point I cant usually stand in due to water, and it was beautiful.
3) everyone who we gave jobs too is over the moon, which is nice, just hard to tell the ones that didntthinking about us all going for some pasta together before the season kicks in.
4) Delicious magazine arrived, so spent ages poring over it! decided to send them a pic to their letters page of a dish I found in there, that has proved popular on our specials board, here is hoping for letter of the week and a nice case of wine!
5) Already made tomorrows staff meal (bacon roll inspired by the thread on OS!) and because it was quiet tonight, but we have late bookings tomorrow night, our weekly thursday deck scrub of the floor (4 buckets of boiling hot water thrown across kitchen floor, after sweeping, then using deck brush to "scrub" it all, then floor squeegy to push water down the drain, then usual mopping) was done tonight instead of tomorrow! (we sweep after each service, and mop once a day, but once a week its the dreaded floor scrub! I know it isnt a "requirement" but it makes me happy to know we do it) It takes about 45 mins and usually means a later finish and alot of sweat!, but although being quiet wasnt great, knowing the dreaded floor scrub for the week is done feels great!
Sorry firefox lost my even mroe epic post, I did reply to all, I promise, but sometimes you gotta know when enoughs enough! I cant re do another hour much as I want to.
Have a good day all, will try and not lose tomorrows!
JexI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
Lol at the euro ironing mountain alisong, I so remember those days - today there's just me at home and I get about three bits to do a month, more than enough!
Bella I'm really pleased for you that you're still finding a market for your cards. Hope you found your poor Aunt okay
Congrats to your son Megs mum. My DS is a motor bike rider and some of the things car drivers get up to is almost criminal. Whatever makes them act like a vampire at full moon when they see two wheels?
Yummy plum crumble Ollie, my favourite pud . The family tree is really coming on, what will you do with it when you get toward the end? My DF had plans to put it into print when he'd finished, sadly he died before that happened and DSis and DD have taken it on. Don't know that they'll go as far a book form though
Funny isn't it Blimus how something which upsets routine when you're in a hurry can turn out to be an eye opener. I like to drive the scenic route to town, it really makes me appreciate whats on the doorstep
Caterina you were right to treat yourself, after all what are we MSing for? It would be very tedious if we couldn't have a little treat now and again, it's not as though you do it all of the time so enjoy your purchases and don't feel guilty
Is the laptop covered on your household insurance house elf? It's worth looking at the policy, sometimes they'll cover accidents which need a repair. Mind you at £500 it's almost worth considering buying a new one
(((Reverbe))) sorry you're in the doldrums, I'm sure it's just a moments lapse and things will look better in the morning
How beautiful to have celandines CCP, aren't the old flowers the best?
GirlySquare I'm going to make chicken and stuffing pie, it sounds delish!
Congrats on the blog nuttybabe, you're really clever. I wouldn't know where to start with something like that
I'm jealous Kittikins, I love France and all things French. Where are you going?
Hi ABerrisford :hello: welcome to the family
ACEY what a relief you're getting your car done. For sure it'll be worth the repair cost, you can't put a price on safety
Stand your ground over the new contract Ladyhawk, why do companies think they can get away with whatever they want to do? You show 'em!
Lol Tealady whenever I get freebies my DGD's want to know what I've got. I have to hide the mascaras as DGD1 loves the stuff!
wssla I don't think there's anything much more relaxing that watching the mogs sunbathe, stretch, and settle to sunbathe a while longer. Wish I was that supple!
jexygirl for the way you write and describe the surroundings, the hens, the views...have you thought of putting pen to paper? Perhaps when you've been there a while longer you'll write your memoires, it'll make fascinating reading
My 5
1. Managed to write a note to everyone (I hope!) as
2. I'm off to Jersey in the morning and
3. Wanted to say thank you for being here and making the ends of my days so cheerful with your posts
4. I splashed out too and bought a Yin Yang wall clock (did you guess it's my favourit symbol? Also the names of my mogs)
5. Postie brought me a free wash ball. How exciting is that?!
Back on Tues/Weds, meantime stay safe (((everyone))) night night n God bless
S x0 -
Morning Folks.
Sparrer - Depending on when you read this hope you have/had a nice time in Jersey.
Jexy - I have looked at your lovely pics on your website, but in my head I see 'Pie in The Sky' which I am currently watching on Sat lunchtimes. Especially when you were talking about giving your new staff a chance which others may not. :A How did the person with the carer get on?
Reverbe - great list of books you have to read, I have been looking at the 'Fay' cook book for ages and I just love 'Captain Jack'We saw him in pantomime two years running.......he is sooooooo lovely!
My 5 for yesterday
1. Admin day cos no kids and I didn't have any reviews. (Did have lots of interuptions from parents with students in other year groups poping in for a chat about their progress. (This is lovely, but meant I only got half of what I wanted done  ).
2. My free tree arrived from the Great British Elm experiment. We are going to plant it at the local community garden if possible, and look after it for 30 years! I hope I will be able to hand on the responsibility to someone when I retire:eek:
3. The Head provided a lovely buffet lunch for all the staff. :A
4. Took the dog for a walk while DH went back to work to check a document. Wandered around the town centre noticing how beautiful the old victorian civic architecture is and even admiring some of the modern stuff! I do envy all of you living in the countyside, but I know I couldn't do it. I need the orange glow of street lights in the sky:rotfl:
5. Devised a World Book Day character for DS2 - James and the Giant Peach. (Guess what his name is?).
Have a lovely day HE x0 -
Good Morning All - Just a quick contribution as I have a to do list as long as your arm... worst first then its all plain sailing I hope ... Anyway here are mine from yesterday
