    Evening everyone,

    Mine for today
    1. It not being dark still when the alarm went off this mornig, lighter mornings are here at last:T
    2. Bought a set of make up bags to put away as a present in Debenhams with 70% off price
    3. Few YS bits in Waitrose. Struggled to get them in the freezer though as it is ful to bursting. Next week is going to have to be just shopping for bread and veg and use up what we have.
    4. Really easy dinner of cheese toastie, chips and beans. Everyone really enjoyed it as well
    5. Placing an order with the milk man for a small grocery delivery on Saturday and as used an MSE offer only costing 55p for bacon, breakfast muffins, hot cross buns and Orange Juice:money:

Hugs to all who need them.
Ladyhawk - good luck with the interview on Thursday

Bit of a mixed day today. :-S

Bad things - there is something terribly wrong with the steering on the car. Yes, I should take it in immediately but it was intermittent, the local garage is booked up for days in advance, I can't afford it and need it to take the boys to school. (Nearly 4 miles down country lanes). I had new front tyres for Christmas (from mum and dad!) and had the tracking done last week because I thought it might be that. It'll be fine for miles then suddenly, with no noise nor warning, will "jump" to the side as though the car has been hit by a massive gust of wind. I'm thinking something is coming loose on the steering column/rack thing. When I say "jump", its not flying to the side so other cars notice! Its more of a sudden, sharp wander.

The other bad thing - the ex... His fiancee has stolen from him, they split up, he withdrew police charges and attempted suicide, they got back together. He is on bail for fraud. She is an all round bad egg. He has lied so much to the court that he has only got supervised contact with the boys. He decided he didn't want supervised contact (i.e in a contact centre) so hasn't been seeing them at all.

Cue a gormless social worker writing an update to her report about him. She KNOWS all the above. She also knows his police files and ambulance attendance records have still not been obtained so she is working "in the dark". But still, in her report, she has decided that my boys should have lovely, unsupervised contact with the ex AND his fiancee. It really beggars belief!

I shall now try for 5 good things....

    1) Worked in school today.

    2) Took left over last night's dinner (spag boll) to re-heat for my lunch.

    3) Smaller son did so well in his numeracy (and so much of it) that he had to see the headteacher to show him.

    4) Bigger son had after school science so little son and I went for a walk through the forest (its behind school) and tried to identify deer poo. (Random fact - male deer poos are round, like marbles. Female deer poos have a pointed end like a tear drop shape).

    5) My brother came round after school to play on the Wii.

    6) Cheating tea - Mr Dave's balti (I have a feeling they are sold only in the Midlands-ish) and rice.

    That's it from me!

And there have been no flowers whatsoever on my Christmas cactus. But our sunflower and pansy seeds in seed trays on the windowsill are growing very well.

Eliza your weekend sounds divine you lucky thing!
Carolyntia, ccp, Acey, Caterina, Sparrer your posts always make smile :) a cop out I know, but I have missed a few days and you all did such lovely things! And Im trying not to waffle (thank goodness for delete button!) Sparrer, any chance of a shed on freecycle / freegle? I see them all the time (buyer collects ofc) and we got one not so long ago that a lick of creosote and £8 on roof felt made it look like new!
Saving for Oz - do we get to ermmm "proof read" the story :D:D:D we heard so much about it and I would love to read it, especially knowing it makes you happy:) Also, of mr possible lets you go, his loss hun.
Reverbe - I felt for you at OS meet thing, and I am so glad you had nice times other than that :) please dont give up on it :) I love your posts - but how come you get all the freebies i apply for!
Girly, Zara, Nutty, again love your posts, the more I read this thread the more I love it :) if you scroll back, alot mention washing drying outside, the sunshine, the moon, the spring time signs of bulbs etc, true oldstyle pleasures that cost nothing, we just all need to take a moment to stop and look around us! I love it, it brings me out of my stressy mood!

Oki, ladyhawk... give him a chance! You liked him before date 3! I think you have it in your head that date 3 is make or break! go for date 4 and see what happens! read the pre date 2 before and after, then the instant "ITS DATE 3 ITS GOING TO GO WRONG" post :) and.. WTH are TANGFASTICS!

quick 5 to finish (still hitting delete alot! I feel like an addict resisting the urge ! :))
    1) catching up with every day goings on here :) and deciding to post - and not waffle (50% is ok right? lol )
    2) the escapee hens yesterday - 3 have been hatching (excuse the pun!) a plan for weeks, and yep, 3 escaped... nothing out of place, no idea how they got out, buster proved to be an over zealous "herder" and almost got himself and a hen run over... crisis averted, finally number 14 appeared strolling down the mountain path not a care in the world, wondering waht the fuss was about... so all were reaccounted for and safe... will never know of the excape route! I updated the hens page on the website too, which meant spending an hour talking to them and interviewing them, ofc with pics lol! (means I legitimately had a reason to spend time out there watching, laughing, talking without people knowing im crazy :D)

    3) Had an exhausting 2 days of interviewing almost non stop, I find it so hard to pick people and especially in this climate, I think we have got some superb new staff for the summer now which is a relief, but stressy as I would have given them all jobs if we had enough. They were all impressive and I felt they all had a reason, or wanted the job all be it waiting on tables or kitchen work, its hard work and I think we have the makings of a great team, I just wish we could have employed everyone, the thought of turning people down when they are so eager to work makes me sad. We took on 2 people, who for personal reasons others may have not taken on, and the courage they showed in being honest with us was amazing, They didnt have to tell us, we would have taken them on on what we saw, but they were honest, and its sad today that that isnt always the case. People that want to work should be given a chance, and I felt that we were getting the right people, not simply feeling sorry or giving a chance, its great that we have a great new team, but sad for those that were also so good, the standard was really high. We kept all numbers tho, and I hope we can offer some part time or one off things for the ones we couldnt take on.

    4) the sunshine - even tho its cold, the mountains still have snow on the tops, the hens water is still frozen in a morning, but the porridge and hot water helps :) the view is lovely and I take a breath and think that despite everything, I am lucky to live where I do and be healthy :)

    5) the lovely posts and news from "normal " people here, everything always looks great from the outside, but I would swap with any one of you in a heartbeat! You guys keep me sane reading your posts :) OOoooo maybe we could do a real life swap! Anyone up for it????? :D

    See I still waffled!
    Sorry

Acey, hun, as I said I cant begin to imagine.. but Im here, PM me as an outsider if you want to, I admire your strength and courage, it must be so hard to be "neutral" as in wanting the boys to know their dad, but wanting to protect them to, hug to you and you are being so strong - everyone is here for you to vent if needed. sorry if that sounds patronising, it isnt meant to at all.
but PLEASE take the car to a garage, it sounds like a balljoint to me (my dad when he was alive was a mechanic who could run a car on elastic bands - but I am a bit out of date since I lost him some 12 years ago :( but OH says anything steering needs looking at,no matter how sporadic, and he knows car basics, so please take it in to be looked at, the money will come from an ebay sale or lottery win, but please take it in, it may not be so bad as you think :)
    Chin up hun

I agree jexy, the grass often looks greener but it does bring back some very happy memories of childhood in the Hampshire countryside. We also had hens, I was found sitting with them one day trying to imitate them and eat a worm . Well I was only 3! Good to see you back and posting :)

    My 5 -
    1. The washing machine 'on' button disappeared inside the panel, so I did 4 wash loads by hand. That's really OS...and really tiring :(, but it was a beautiful day so a lot of it was hung outside
    2. A lovely friend coming by this afternoon looking for ideas for her partners 50th at the end of the month. I've offered to do the food and decorate the house, as they're both at work all day. Something for me to plan and get my teeth into, it's ages since I've catered on that sort of scale and love it :D
    3. Phoning the airline to buy some more weight as I thought it best to be on the safe side, and they gave me 20kg free hold baggage as I need to have my neb etc in my hand luggage. She was very helpful and has emailed me a letter to print and take to check in with me. Seems some of them understand the term customer service :)
4.Applying for a cheque as one of my survey sites has reached the required level after 16 months. That's another £50 to sift away :j
    5. Being exhausted and ready to sleep before the usual 3am...

    Night night (((hugs))) everybody

Jexygirl good to see you're back, please keep coming.
alsong keep on going you're doing fine.

    Yesterday's pleasures:-

    1. The sun shone again.

    2. The washing dried.

    3. More seeds sown.

    4. Made a couple of cards, must get cracking on these as my customers are asking for them - and I need the money.

    5. Crochet 'ripple' blanket coming on well, and more yarn sorted out to do the next blanket.

I'm off now to Yorkshire (120 mile trip) to visit my 90 year old aunt with the broken leg.

    Bella.
