Evening all
Ollie - that was a cool site, it has given me some ideas! I am dressing the sock monkeys now as they are to give to my mum to put on her craft stall but that is a good idea of having the monkeys and doing the clothes when asked for something specific! Something I may do in the future if I do starting selling a few (maybe off a website - I am thinking of setting one up)
Anyhoo, mine for today
1 Cleaned the kitchen until everything shined and sparkled, I love those few seconds when of all my doors are shiny until ds2 comes running in putting greasy hand prints everywhere!!
2 A few loads of washing so all up to date again!
3 All the ironing done. :j
4 My friend asking me to make 3 sock monkeys for her kids!
5 Baking a fruit loaf and carrot cake. Ds1 loved the carrot cake. :j
6 Dd eating all her veg at tea time (cabbage and carrots)!:T
I hope everyone has a good evening0 -
Thanks Ollie
My five for today:
1) tea and porridge with jam in bed courtesy dp
2) cuddling dd before going to work this morning
3) listening to brilliant and v. funny 'Wales vs England' debate on Heart radio on the way to work, lol!
4) lunchtime meeting went well and got lunch paid for
5) thanks from colleagues this afternoon, although left work late, fast-ish drive back home tonight
'Phoned mum's house at 5:30pm and she was at home, step-dad only switched on heating when she arrived home and asked him to, so she was 'warming up' when I rang. Step-dad ranting as he received stongly worded letter from consultant today. Offered to pick mum up and take her back to the hospital, but she wanted to stay at home until tomorrow, so I 'phoned the hospital with an update."We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Ah the pleasures of today:-
1. The sun.
2. Even the towels dried on the line.
3. The ironing all done and up to date by DH, well he's always saying he feels the cold so thought he would like a nice warm job.
4. Cottage pie for tea. 500g fed 4 adults and two children and I sneaked enough out to take on our jaunt to Yorkshire on Wednesday when we go to visit my aunt.
5. Lovely family time sharing the excitement of DGS's grammar school pass.
Bella.A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Hello everyone, feeling perky again, yay!
1. A NSD, the first of hopefully many this month
2. An email from Te$co home panel, asking me to give details of what I'd like to sample for them...hopefully I'll get picked.
3. The sunshine lifting my mood, sounds like it'll be good tomorrow as well. Yippee!
4. Had a nice chat with a chap at the pool today, (such a shame I clocked the wedding ring as he is quite pleasant on the eye, lol), but oh well, it was nice to have some friendly banter and we talked about OHs past and present, children, G*d and all sorts, lol.
5. I've been offered a lovely computer cupboard so will be able to get rid of the desk that is cluttering up my spare room. A friend is going to pick it up for me on Wednesday night.
6. My DD being a little cutiepie today, and I need to remember to ask her teacher if/when there is an assembly that parents are allowed to go to, the first one! She's going to be "I for Imagination", I can feel myself welling up already, soppy mare, lol.
7. Sitting in candlelight in my jimjams watching TV all nice and snuggly, a very simple pleasure
EDIT: Belated congrats to Bella's DGS on the grammar school place, I'm a grammar school girl and loved secondary school0 -
Good evening everyone.
Here's my five for today:
1) Started my month of storecupboard challenge with a big batch of chilli con carne, which has used up lots of bits (and was pretty tasty, too).
2) Made bread with a packet of bread mix that had been sitting in the cupboard for... um... some time. I thought it might be past its best, but it's fine.
3) HM chicken soup for lunch
4) Got my mum's birthday present all wrapped and ready to go, despite the "help" from my pet cat.
5) Treated myself to some new earrings as I could put a money off code and cashback together to get 20% off. :money:
I'm shortly going to go and imitate Kittikins and snuggle up on the sofa, so have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Congratulations to Bella's DGS - there are no grammar schools in this neck of the woods, only comps but both my parents are one time West Mids grammar school pupils.
** Very impressive 5 (or so) for today! **
1) Parcel courier brought a box of chocolates for me. This confused me no end until I opened them. A friend of mine had ordered them (presumably on-line) and there was a little note typed inside that said the chocs were to cheer me up after the horrible week I had just had. :-)
2) Only post was a Severn Trent Water bill. We have no sewer so its £10 per month.
3) Went out for lunch with my mum and dad. Its a lovely local pub/hotel with its own organic garden, pigs and their own brewery. We had the St David's day menu including lamb, mash with wild garlic and leeks.
4) Strange bit of news is that I have been given my great grandma's wedding ring (well, we presume it is her wedding ring, there is no one left who can remember as she was widowed very young - before 1930). Its too big for me and worn so thin I think the band would probably snap if I wore it but I've never inherited anything before so its nice to keep.
5) I mentioned to my Dad that I was running out of firewood but wouldn't need another full load and when we got back from lunch (at the pub) my brother had got the truck out and loaded it up with logs for me!
6) Had a reasonable tea and 2 of next door's boys came round to play on the Wii with mine.
7) Little son did some good reading for homework.
8) Just got to finish the clothes drying now, have a quick tidy round then I shall have a long bath followed by listening to the Archers in bed.

Evening all
Jexygirl Oh why not? I hope it wasn't somthing someone said.
Ladyhawk We split up because I'd just finished uni and was about to start a job where I spent a lot of time working away. I didn't think it was fair to leave him sitting at home waiting while I jetted around the world
My latest ones:
1) Very lazy day on Sunday
2) Lovely sunny day today
3) Ultrasound at hospital which confirmed the cyst on my ovary is shrinking
4) Beautiful flowers from the 10 year ex and lots of texts
5) Ironing done
6) House is tidy
I'm off to visit one of our offshore platforms for the next couple of days so I'll catch up with you all when I get back
Take care and keep smiling
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Good Evening All.
5 for yesterday
1. Little lie-in.
2. Sewing DH jeans. We are not a v tall family, so I usually have to take up everone's trousers! He now has 4 'new' pairs. (All cs buys, but new to him!). I feel like Rumplestitskin when I sit in the dining room, surrounded by all the Ebay stuff and turning straw into gold on my sewing machine. (I'm following Bellas lead, and trying to concentrate on making things I have stored away into useful things).
3. Trip to garden centre with MiL. She bought us a cream tea, but we had a BOGOF voucher, so don't feel too bad about letting her pay.
4. MiL sent us home with a big bag of chocolate, dog treats, book, 2 mags, cheese strings and a set of phones to Ebay!
5.Sat with Ds2 planning some lessons. He tried out some of the interactive whiteboard activities for me. Bless.:)
5 for today
1. Nice chat with swimming mum I haven't seen for ages.
2. Breakfast at Mcdonalds with DD.
3. Lessons worked well, but kids generally difficult. (noticed its a full moon tonight!).
4. Went to old fashioned 1930's style cinema with DH to see 'A Single Man'. (BOGOF). Really enjoyed it. V stylish.
5. Moon was very atmospheric on the way home from the cinema.
6. Starving, so had F&C despite having lasagne to come home to. Never mind. Tomorrows tea is sorted!:T
Night Night HE x0
