    Evening everyone,

Mine for last night / today:
    1. Lovely night out with OH. Its so nice to be able to go out as adults now and again now DD is getting older.
    2. Lazy morning this morning, two nights out in a row is more than I can handle these days.
    3. Cup of tea in bed made by DD
    4. Made sure we ate a quick simple meal before we went out last night so no paying for food whilst out
    5. Shopping for the week done and on budget plus bought a few store cupboard supplies and a couple of treats. MSE has changed my shopping habits so much, we eat better and for less now.:money:

Hugs to all who need them

    Today
    1) Had a lie in
    2) Had the 'spring clean' bug and blitzed my wardrobes and cupboards
    3) Read some interesting tips on here for meals I plan to make this week.
    4) Decided to take a 'time owing' day from work tomorrow so today is not my Saturday :j
    5) coconut ice cream for pudding that I didn't eat last night as DH bought me a crunchie
  • Hope everyones had a good weekend

2,Seen just the gas stove I want on the leccy/gas forum,I can afford to buy it but probaly not to install it so I'll have to stare at our 30yr old ugly gas fire a while longer.:(
I shouldn't moan cos it does throw out a lot of heat.
3,Had the house to myself most of the day cos hubbys been helping clear his mothers house whos moved in with relatives. Its like a timewarp there they found a pkt of mints 22 yrs out of date.
4,Cooked a lovely roast beef dinner for when he came back and home made jam and coconut sponge for pud.:)
5,Spent no money today only in my head( gas stove)Might nip over to utilites and see if anyone can advise me of installation costs, need the old broken down back boiler removed 1st,no jobs ever straight forward in my house.

  • Hi - Just had to clarify things for Ladyhawk re advice. bf and Oh!! It sounds like some awful three-some ... so let me explain: While bf and I run we have a gossip (I know - we should run faster and so have no breath to chat) and bf was having a tough time with her DS (not very D at the mo) and OH - she feels she is being taken for granted and so on. Anyway she tends to take the hump, get snappy, go off in a huff etc etc. So my advice to her was to be nicer to them, to treat them like she would me (at which point she said - yeah but you are my friend - that really struck me - does she not regard her DS and OH as friends?) So it made me realise that I sometimes take my DOH for granted, that he is lovely and I should appreciate him more/all the time. So I followed the advice about how to appreciate your OH, with MY OH. OK!! Oh Boy!!
    Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.

    Hiya everyone

Ollie - I made 2 sock monkeys last night and am now stuck on how to dress them as normally i know what i am doing before i make them but last night i just picked 2 pairs of socks and started sewing so am stuck on what they will be!! Think I kind of prefered the old way as more personal!! :p

House Elf - home made air freshener?? I am going to have to have a go at that!!! I told my friend about the gloop and she made some this weekend and thinks its brilliant!

Caterina - He does have some good points - then other times he will go to pub then phone me to say he is on his way home and 2 hours later I am phoning him in a panic only to find out he went back to the pub!!!! But mostly he is a :A

    Mine for today -

1 A bit of a lie in before I was woken up by the kids playing Ben 10 so first thing i heard this morning was HUMOUNGERSAUR shouted very loudly!!

2 Sausage, bacon and eggs for breakfast!

3 Cadburys cream eggs 12 for £3 in asda!!! They are my fav and i wont usually buy them until after easter as they are so expensive!

4 I spent the afternoon sewing a bag organiser on my new sewing machine! :D It is small enough to put in my smallest handbag and when its in one of my big bags it will keep all my stuff together so I wont lose anything at the bottom of the bag (thats the plan anyway!!) :p

5 I went on strike today. I have done no housework except 1 load of washing as dh needs his trousers for work! I dont even want to think how busy i am going to be tomorrow!!

Right, off to try to find something to dress my sock monkeys in and if i have time i might start on another sparkly teddy bear.

WOW Tabs!! Congratulations!!! what an exciting move. No advice really, sorry.

Megs Mum - I had to read through your explanation twice before I realised that you meant best friend and not boyfriend!! :) That explains it.

Anyway off for a lovely hot bath... have a lovely evening everyone.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • My five for today:

    1. Good session at the gym this morning.

    2. Nearby parking space, free parking and collecting some great new books to read from the library.

    3. My brother and his girlfriend dropping round this afternoon.

    4. Another 2,200 words on my short story.

    5. Doing my finances for March and things are looking good to save quite a bit towards my trip.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Hello all, have just read and caught up on all the lovely news and happenings going on around here :) Pleased to hear the exhibition was great Caterina, I'm dying to go and visit it myself when I next have the chance of working in London for the day (so I can get free transport up there!)

Back from a lovely weekend away with DD.

    1. The hospitality of our friends and their lovely children, who gave me just the tonic I needed after a trying few weeks. We enjoyed ourselves despite all the rain that kept us more indoors rather than we had planned, next time will be different.... :)

    2. DD "bought" me a lovely pot of pink crysanthemums that now have pride of place on the dining table - using a M&$ voucher I earned for selling a mobile that was passed to me :) The flowers were my prize for winning our running race back to the car - now that wouldn't have been possible a year ago, moi - running!!

    3. We also 'bought' some food in the M&$ foodhall using the above-mentioned voucher and a giftcard, so DD now has enough fruit and veg for her packed lunches this week and I haven't spent money (ok, did pick up my DM's mother's day present along the way so that I don't have to make a separate trip out for it).

    4. Bought a 2-DVD set of N0rthern Exposure from a fellow MSEr on an auction site for £2 :)

    5. Have made myself a 'March Manifesto' - things I want to do/avoid during the month. My plan to have a Frugal February went by the wayside, so this is Miserly March, so no more spending money too frivolously (luckily the DVDs come into February not March phew!!) and having at least one tv-free night a week/looking into PGCE or other career change options more seriously/not buying any more dented tins as the cupboards are full to groaning etc etc). Wish me luck!!

    6. DD loved her dinner tonight which was very frugal, and there is enough sauce for another day, carefully stashed in the freezer.

    7. I baked 5 potatoes in the Remo$ka today and have put 3 in the freezer, the spuds were free using my M!lk & More £5 spend, and have more goodies to arrive tomorrow/next week. It's like Christmas around here :)

    8. Realising that I've mentioned the C-word above, tee hee ;)

    9. DD and I had a great time in the car on our long journey to/from friends listening to Cat in the Hat CDs and chuckling away at the silliness of Dr Seuss! When we got home today we watched our favourite Muppet Sh0w DVD, I'm so glad she appreciates the finer things in entertainment :)

    10. Earning the incredulity of our friends after I rescued a solitary potato that they were going to throw away - because apart from making mash today for shepherd's pie they weren't going to use it!! Why on earth they didn't put the last spud in the pot with all the others, I'll never know! They even asked me what on earth I was going to do with it. I think I might just sprout it and grow it in my potato sack, to show them how amazing one little potato can be :)

    11. Got the ironing done in double-quick time this weekend, it looked far more than it was, yippee, that so rarely happens, usually the stuff multiplies as I look at it, lol.

    12. Putting together a small bag of DD's old clothes that are in good condition and hopefully a friend will appreciate them for her little one.

    13. Feeling quite ready for the week and month ahead, makes a change!
