Hello everyone
Mine for today (think I may have more than 5 today, have had a brilliant day!!)
1 Lie in :j
2 Lots of cuddles and laughing in bed with the kids when we all woke up
3 sausage, bacon and eggs for breakfast and everyone except ds2 had it (normally the kids wont eat bacon for some reason and dd even ate fried egg!!)
4 Got my sewing machine!!! Our local lidl didnt have it (got red onions for onion chutney that I read about on this board somewhere instead!!) but I phoned and they tracked 1 down so dh went and got it! :T
5 Dh got me a sewing box and 2 sewing sets from Lidl whilst getting the sewing machine as he says I never buy anything for myself but now i have a hobby he wanted to buy me something!!
6 Dh set up the scaletrix and played with the kids this afternoon whilst I sorted out my sewing stuff and transfered it all to my new sewing box!
7 Used my sewing machine and it is brilliant, set up straight away (although got flashbacks of when I did use my mums 20 years ago!!) and easy to use!
8 Watching a film tonight with dh whilst I do the hand sewing of the sock monkeys I just started on the machine!
Off I go, busy, busy, busy!!!
I hope you have all had a good day.
edited to say number 9 Got 2 free fruit tea bags from twinnings in the post today0 -
 Everyone.
Today:
1) Slept well this morning after my night shift with my fab new ear plugs.
2) Fried egg cob made by lovely hubby, few biccies and trash TV on sofa this afternoon.
3) Nipped to the pub for an hour at tea time and was very cosy.
4) Nice day relaxing tomorrow to look forward to.
5) Coconut ice cream left in the freezer from the batch I made last week that I am just about to have a bit of.0 -
1. Bought 25kg Maris potatoes, 10kg each carrots and parsnips for a total of £9 from a roadside seller.
2. Re-used old paving slabs to build an improved stand for the water butt.
3. Used the broken slabs to provide an anchor for the "new" greenhouse. Well, I made a start, anyway.
4. Noticed my Morrisons rhubarb crowns are growing nicely.
5. A well deserved cup of (Basics) tea...import this0 -
Evening  - another cold one here tonight - not looking good for the big switch-off on Monday
.
sparrer -on finding your baking sheet is useful for 'open freezing' - always a problem in my jumble of a freezer
. Good Luck with finding an alternative gas/elec supplier. Keep an eye on what Martin advises about switching - he usually says when they've all declared their new price changes so you can get a truer picture of how you'll fare IF you do decide to swtich.
Ladyhawk - oh yeah - back at 3.00am eh - hope you had permission from your mum to be out so late. It's all looking good so far
. wd on eventually getting your new sofa in place :T.
GirlySquare - hope your visit with mum went well.
savingforoz - wd on keeping your expenses down this week :T. Just a thought, who's going to take care of Gizmo while you're away or is he just a foster-cat?
house elf - that was one great r-u-b-b-e-r chicken :j. lol at your Ebay maths lesson :rotfl: - realising how to use something learned in a practical situation is how they learn best :T.
Blimus - wd on making small but very sensible goals in your weight-loss targets :j:j (couple of star jumps to help you lose some more). Great bargains on the deli turkey breast - and low-fat meat too :T. Good to see that your boys are enjoying organised activities.
Tealady - Looks like you're in for a hectic weekend - have a great time :j.
tabskitten - Hope you and OH make the most of your opportunity for some 'you time'.
pepsimax - wtg on being prepared and able to give a suitable pressie and card to your friend's daughter :T.
Carolynita - I've been a-noseying around this site and came to the conclusion that it was probably a yellow-hammer. Will have to keep my eyes open for it again - as long as the crows don't chase it away. Good to see that your cockerel is so friendly. My grandparents had hens and a cockerel when I was a child - Georgie scared me witless AND he knew it! Every time I went 'down the yard' to the outdoor privvy - he would chase me. I used to stand there shouting for my nan to come and rescue me to get back in again. She used to just flap her pinny at him and he would run a mile - he wasn't soft, he knew that it was HER that fed him and his 'girls'.
nuttybabe - wd on getting your sewing machine AND lots of sewing goodies to go with it - what a lovely OH you've got. Sock Monkey production line at the ready .......... :rotfl:.
jem1276 - love the idea of the earplugs for sleeping when on nights :j - wish I'd thought of that when I was on the graveyard shift. Will have to suggest it to DS2's g/f.
laurel7172 - wd on your bargain veggies AND on your makeshift water butt stand :T.
Mine for today:
1. Leisurely morning and some work done on family tree - tracked my dad's 'real' paternal family back to 1777 in Cockermouth, Cumbria :j. This is all so excitingly easy to do - a bit of searching, a few clicks and history opens up before your eyes.
2. Decided to venture to our shopping centre and visit my favourite charity shop. A lovely pair of patterned denim trousers for dgd2, unopened copy of 'Foods That Harm, Foods That Heal' (£1), 'The Food Processor CookBook' also for £1 - delighted with my little haul for today.
3. Ethel Austin's closing down sale (again!) - found another bra in my size for £3 - that'll do for me :j.
4. B&M Bargains - Rowse Lavender Honey - £1.50; Saxa salt/pepper 39p each (stashed in suitcase for caravan holiday - not paying silly prices in camp shop again - 79p for pepper last year !); PINK silicon trivet for DD 79p - she'll love it!; 4 packs of Oxo Cubes @ 49p each; Pura Sunflower Oil 99p.
5. Asda whoopsies - Large Gammon Joint ([STRIKE]£5.00[/STRIKE] for £1.58); Sweet Chilli Pork Sausages ([STRIKE]£2.28[/STRIKE] for 72p); Beef Joint in Gravy ([STRIKE]£3.76[/STRIKE] for £1.18) - none of them on the sell-by date, just damaged cardboard packets :j. Also Beef in BlackBean Sauce and Buttery Chicken [STRIKE]£2.27[/STRIKE] each - £1.19 each which we had for evening meal with shared egg fried rice and some onion rings . Stocked up on their £1 toiletries - 4 for £3 - also now stashed in suitcase!
6. Phone call from DS2 - will I have dgs3 tomorrow morning while he plays football - his g/f is on nights tonight and will be in bed in the morning. So it looks like Billy-blue-eyes and Narnie will be having a jaunt around the park looking for squirrels before visiting DD and her brood - oh happy days!
Oh well, I'd better get off to bed and have some proper R&R - going to need it to get through tomorrow. Nitey nite all and (((((BIG HUGS))))) to all who need them - love Ollie xxx

Ollie didn't you do well? The family tree search, bargain buys, (EA is always closing down in my nearest town too, very often there's no difference in her prices to the charity shops
) and buying up all the goodies in Mr A. Good idea to keep my eye on what Martin says, there's a bit of time now that the winter quarter is over.
GirlieSquare hope you found everything not too bad when you visited your Mum
Thank you house elf, it's good to be here, clean, sober and loving every second of real life. I'm so happy you got your Aunty back, it isn't easy at the beginning but today I wouldn't give tiuppence for an alcoholic drink. I'd still 'kill' for cig sometimes though, and it's 3 years since I had one of those
The date sounded lovely Ladyhawk, good for you. Here's hoping we hear about No 4
Carolyntia being a retired grandma with no-one at home now I have all the time in the world to look for freebies and join trial panels. It was funny when my DGD1 asked if I could spare one of the 4 eye pods I said I got one day...she thought I said ipods :rotfl:.It's worth searching through the Freebie board from time to time
My 5 -
1. Tidied the freezer and found some Mr A cocktail nibbles DS brought for NY but we didn't get round to having them then, so I cooked them and had some with some salad for tea today. Thank you DS, very nice they were too!
2. Another nsd, last day of the month tomorrow and no plans to go out so will be 14 in total
3. Planning what to take with me on Thursday so I don't go over my 10kg allowance, and a bit concerned that I'm only allowed one piece of hand luggage. I'm not taking hold luggage as that's another £20 each way but need a small handbag or similar for all the puffers and paraphernalia. Decided I won't phone and ask them, I've heard of other people taking a handbag as well and I can just plead ignorance - it wouldn't be far wrong!
4. The paperwork I started to tidy last night is now in the correct folders, the spare room looks like a bedroom again and even the bin didn't get too full
5. Wandered around my country estate (measurements 18' x 24') and saw all the buds coming through, heard the birds singing, watched the mogs sunbathing - yup sunbathing! - on the path and generally feeling contented with my life.
Hope you all do, or will very soon, night night (((hugs))) everyone

Happy Sunday everyone!
My 5 for yesterday:
1. My friend coming to spend the afternoon with me, and bringing with her a free TV to replace my clapped out old one.
2. Another 3,500 words on my short story - have done 14,000 this week.
3. Lovely long cuddles with Gizmo in the evening (Ollie, he's a foster cat, so hopefully will have a loving new home by the time I go off on my trip. He will be difficult to rehome as he's FIV-positive, which will probably put many people off. Apparently lots of fuss and cuddles can help boost his immune system...)
4. Big bowl of spicy lentil soup with a homemade roll for lunch. The soup is from a recipe that I got off here, and it's so simple to make - bung everything in the slow cooker on high for a few hours and voila! yummy thick soup.
5. Relaxing with my favourite TV shows in the evening (with Gizmo, of course).Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Haven't been on here in ages.
Hope everyone is well. x
1. New Job!:jSomething I know I will enjoy, fitted in around school hours and can be done as well as my current job so extra money!
2. Log fire and a lovely bottle of wine last night.
3. Seeing all the seedlings poking their heads through in the propagators.
4. OH finishing my fabulous new raised veg beds and hen proofing them.
5. Breakfast in bed brought to me by 2 eight year olds consisting of heart shaped toast and raspberry jam and coffee.
Take care eveyone.x
Edited to add... Jexygirl, you might want to remove some of that information about your employees and prospective employees from your post considering you are so easily identifiable from your home page.;)0 -
Morning all,
So Carolyntia - how things going with the 10 year ex? Did yo break up for a serious reason last time? Is that going to be an issue this time?
Sparrer - they don't care if you plead ignorance at low cost airlines. They will make you take your bag back to check in, unless you can fit your handbag in it. They are truly evil and very unsympathetic. When I was last up in Edinburgh they tried to make a colleague check in her bag at the boarding gate because she had bought a box of sweets in duty free and so had two bags!!! Luckily the colleague is a lawyer so the airline lady got very short shrift! Oh and I am very impressed with the 5 year sobriety anniversary. Well done! And well done for giving up smoking as well.
So my few from yesterday afternoon...
1) had a kip for over an hour and woke up refreshed
2) went into London to meet some old jiu jitsu friends. Which was nice, though 90% of the conversation revolved around their kids which was rather annoying/boring for me. Though some of the anecdotes about the kids were funny... for example little Jasmine is convinced that she is a frog called Freddie and that she only eats green foods and wears green clothes... and little Tessie who is insistant that she is going to grow up to be a man.
3) Sleep in until 9am this morning.... lovely!
4) Popped round to my mum's friends to collect my birthday present. The friend's daughter just came out of hospital with her first child, who is so cute!! They all looked rather shellshocked!!
Right... I now need to sort out my travel insurance for my holidays... only 6 days to go until holiday 1!
Have a happy and fulfilling day!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
5 for yesterday. (I'm not really a fan of updating the next day, can't remember what happened!)
1) Made a sock monster with my bigger son.
2) Popped out to get the tracking done on the car. Its still not right though. Every so often it "tugs" to one side, like you feel the steering change if you get a sudden gust of wind. Goodness knows what is wrong with it. Its an old K reg so getting on a bit.
3) Made a tray of fairy cakes, decorated by sons.
4) Enjoyed watching the Dance for Sport Relief programme.
5) Couldn't sleep so watched 2 episodes of QI!
