5 for today!
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Very lazy morning and just beans on toast for lunch.
3) Watched the episode of Top Gear where they launch the Mini down the ski jump.
4) Went swimming with my sons and my sister this afternoon.
5) My friend from school came for tea bringing homemade short bread.
6) Made sure the boys finished their homework. (At last).
7) Going to have a bath now then listen to the Archers Omnibus in bed as I haven't been able to go to sleep very quickly over the last few days.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Early bed for me tonight after a long and tedious day
1. Up at 7 as I couldn't sleep and the furpets don't let me lie in once they know I'm awake, bless them
2. Housework and more housework...it looks quite nice now but wonder how long it will stay hair free...about 12 hours if my 3 have their way
3. Decided to cook a roast, something I don't usually do any more unless I have visitors. Found some leeks, broad beans, parsnips, petit pois, half an onion and a couple of garlic cloves which I steamed before adding to the roasting tin with a chicken thigh. Made some white sauce to go with it, (cheats method) and it was delish. There's still enough left to whizz in the blender for a soupy lunch tomorrow
4. Counted the change in my savings bottle, almost £75! I clear my purse every night, one of each coin for the purse, one or more if there is more, goes in the bottle. That way I always have some change in my purse and don't feel so hard up. Sparrers psychology
5. Catherine Cookson's The Dwelling Place, Dancing on Ice and Wild at Heart on the television.
6 Won a cd/radio/cassette player on ebay for £7, brand new, complete with 12 month guarantee and free postage:j. It's to replace the big music centre I sold recently which I could never be bothered to put on as it was in the dining room, so this one will give me music wherever I go
Night night (((hugs))) everybody, sweet dreams

Just a quick pop-in to say Happy First of March to everyone. I spent 10 mins this morning making my March list - I love the March Manifesto!
Sparrer - I too fight the fur fight most days - carpets and wood floor (which has its own fur bunnies!) had to lol when darling husband said " thanks for hoovering each week" EACH WEEK! Make that twice daily....
I am really looking forward to doing my February accounts on Thursday to see how much I have saved and can go in the virtual campervan fund. Is that sad or canny?

Have a good day everyoneStay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents0 -
Kittikins love the idea of sprouting the odd potato - that'll shew em.
Had pleasures a plenty this weekend, not particularly OS unless you count.
1. The SO joint of shoulder pork which cost £4 and did 4 portions yesterday and is destined to do another 4.
2. The meal out we had on Saturday which was expensive so doesn't qualify as OS but the fact that we shared it with our family which was priceless, does.
3. The fact that all my food is homemade from scratch - always, so not worthy of special mention but certaily OS
4. More 'ripple' crochet to forward my 'use it up' campaign.
Can you tell I'm struggling here, partly because everything else has been eclipsed by the fact that (excuse the brag)
5. My grandson has passed for the Grammar School.

Morning everybody :hello: - certainly feels strange to be sitting here on a Monday without having to think about getting ready for work :j.
jexygirl - no w-a-a-y, girl - you've got to keep posting! pm on it's way to you hun.
sparrer - lol at the eye-pod/ipod mix up - poor girl must have thought she was onto a winner there. Can just imagine my Dannii-lou thinking exactly the same thing :rotfl:. I'm sure you're allowed a personal handbag on board (I've always taken one anyway) - I like to keep medication, jewellery, travel documents, money and travel wipes on my person - preferrably in a bag with a strap across my body. Having read Ladyhawk's post, not so sure about my experience now - I've only ever flown 'scheduled international flights'. wd on your new cd/tape/radio for £7 :T.
savingforoz - how lovely of your friend to bring a replacement TV set for you :T.for Gizmo and hope he has a new mum by the time you go on your travels. :j on adding more to your short story.
Haribo - wd on your new part-time job - every little helps :j.
Ladyhawk - sorry to hear that you felt a little 'out of the conversation' with your friends - have to admit that us 'mums and nannas' do sometimes become a little pre-occupied with the antics of our darling offspring.
ACEY - wd to your sons for decorating the fairy cakes - if anything like my dgs's there'll be one heck of a 'sugar rush' after eating them. Lovely day there with your sister and lovely boys
.
GirlySquare - Hope all goes well today for your mumfor you all. mmmmmm Chicken Bhuna.
house elf - wd on making gel air fresheners :T - will have a trawl around for the recipe - sounds a good idea.
Blimus - I didn't even know that there had been a 'movie version' of Grey Gardens and it was only on More4 last week - drat - would have loved to have seen that.
mineallmine - wd on using freecycle to pass on your unused paint - I'm sure the recipient was delighted. Love using ours.
jem1276 - thanks for that link - DD2's g/f is interested :T. wd on blitzing your wardrobes and cupboards.
Megs mum - hope you get to visit your dd and good luck for the run!
CCP - wd on your day out with your sister - don't get to spend anywhere near enough time with my dsis's, but love it when we do get together :j.
Caterina - Good to hear that you all enjoyed your 'meet' on Saturday - amazing how much food turns up when you do a 'communal-style beanfest' like that.
Tealady - lol at your No.2 - I'm exactly the same these days - just can't stand the pace - oh for the stamina of youth.
pepsimax - how lovely to your OH to spend his spare time cleaing out his mother's house for her - lol at the out of date mints :rotfl: - that's mums for you! Good luck with your cooker installation - hope it works out for you.
nuttybabe - have you tried this site for ideas? Do you HAVE to get them dressed now - how about keeping some ready, so that when needed you can customise them as required?
tabskitten - Wow what a huge decision to arrive at - wtg to you and your OH. Wd at not having any preconceived ideas of where exactly you want to settle - surely it has be better to keep your options open and see what oppotunities come up and where :T.
Kittikins - good to hear you had a great weekend with your friends- and wd you on spreading the mse/os word to your friends re the 'lonely potato'. I think I would sprout it and then let them know what weight of baby pots it yields :T.
bella - wd to your grandson on passing his Grammar School exam :j.
Mine for Sunday:
1. Lovely morning with Billy-Blue-Eyes who fell asleep on the bus going out and slept until I got to DD's when her kids woke him up  - typical. Found DD to be in quite a relaxed frame of mind, even trading comic insults, but she's beginning to panic about having to go out today - at this rate, she'll finish up with agoraphobia.
2. Wandered around the local car boot sale before getting to DD's but nothing that I wanted - had been hoping to find a plug-in phone but no joy this time. Checked out a couple of shops that are open on Sundays, but nothing called out to me :j.
3. DS2 came to DD's house to collect dgs3 and spent around 45mins chatting before he had to get off again. DD really appreciated his visit - a few months ago, he wouldn't talk to her - so this is great to see them being friendly again - he even gave her a big hug when leaving.
4. Great to see DD cook a spag bol from scratch yesterday evening - AND they all wolfed it down - including dgd2 (28mths) who had 2 helpings :j. dgd2 also used the potty a few times during the day - clever girl :T.
5. Very easy evening meal for us last night. Peeled potatoes and put in pan to bring to boil and simmer for 20mins. Peeled carrots and put in microwave for 10mins. Used the whoopsied Beef joint in gravy (8mins in microwave). Boiled water and added frozen broccoli (5mins). All cooked, dished up and served within 25mins of getting back in the house - would have been quicker, IF I'd thought of prepping the veg BEFORE going out yesterday morning
. Saved the water from carrots and broccoli for soup making.
6. Used up some whoopsied plums and manky apples to prepare a mixed fruit base for a crumble for tonight .
Need to get off and have a shower - meeting up with DD for later - bye for now love Ollie xxx0 -
Good morning ! (Well, it's just about still morning!)
tabskitten - wow. Congratulations on your decision - that sounds seriously exciting!
Bella - congratulations to your grandson! :j
jexy (if you're reading) - nooo! Please don't go - I love reading your posts about you and your girls, and your life by the loch.
My (rather belated) five for yesterday:
1) Got a proper lie-in.
2) It was too wet to go out for most of the day, so I had a nice pootly day at home, catching up on the forum and doing various bits at home.
3) I had to pass on eggy bread as I'd run out of bread (:(), but made a good start on my March storecupboard challenge by scrounging various bits out of the freezer for lunch.
4) Made a spice cake. It's not my most successful piece of baking - I opened the oven door too soon and it collapsed, and I think I overdid the baking powder as you can taste it in the finished cake - but I had fun making it (I love baking!).
5) Had rather more success trying to recreate a tomato and veg casserole I ate in a restaurant last year - it's not quite right, but not a bad first attempt.
Have a nice day, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hello everyone, what a beautiful sunny day.....what a change! Spring is in the air:) I have been lucky enough to enjoy a lovely weekend, so here are my five for the past few days.
1) Making and egg and bacon sandwich at 11.30pm on Friday night! Now this might not sound very exciting but DH and myself had just finished watching a good film together and when we were a good bit younger we would sometimes have a naughty egg and bacon treat whilst film watching. We haven't done this for years what what with getting older...heartburn...indigestion and all that rubbish, so this was a really naughty treat and I paid for it waking up at 2.00 am with yes, heartburn. Serves me right I suppose.:rotfl:
2) Spent all day Saturday cooking and making edible treats for DS2 who we were visiting on Sunday. DH spent a very productive day in the garden digging manure into my raised beds, so they will be ready for planting later on! Roll on summer!
3) Enjoyed a lovely day on Sunday visiting DS2 in London. They had smoked Salmon Bagels waiting for us when we arrived with fresh Orange Juice and Coffee. Lovely.
4) Went out for a really nice lunch with DS2 in London, nice cosy restaurant and so lovely for the four of us to sit together and chat, catching up on each other's news.
5) Arriving home safely last night. I always feel so thankful to get where I am going and get back home safely. The roads are so busy these days....so much rushing about even late into the night.
Have a lovely day everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Caterina - He does have some good points - then other times he will go to pub then phone me to say he is on his way home and 2 hours later I am phoning him in a panic only to find out he went back to the pub!!!! But mostly he is a :A
Sounds to me like a regular, garden-variety man! :rotfl:
Edited because I am procrastinating the time I start work. I have had already so many pleasures today that I am going to post them here, even if it is only 2pm!
1 - Cup of tea in bed courtesy of DH
2 - Started reading another very good book from the library
3 - The sun is shining (amazing pleasure in itself!)
4 - Because of the amazing weather DD and I decided to skip the aerobics class and the gym and go to the park instead, where we did a lot of aerobic exercise (jumping up and down benches, a bit of relay jogging, a lot of panting and waving our arms in the air, a lot of singing and mucking about). It was great, a really good workout and millions time more fun than being stuck in a room moving clumsily to extremely loud music! We decided to do this as often as possible!
5 - Because of the amazing weather DD and I put our bedding in the wash and planning to hang it to dry in the garden, it will be our first hung-out laundry of the year!
6 - DD made a lovely polenta with sauce and salad for lunch.
I am really really going to get working now! Ciao all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good afternoon everyone.
1,Feels like the 1st day of spring has arrived, lovely drying day and the house is warm with no heating on.
2,Seeing dgd 7 off to school this morn dressed in her welsh lady costume.
3,Making my dgs birthday cake ready for tomorrow.
4,Buying a huge box of co op washing powder reduced to £3 as the box was dented.
5,Blue skies and sunshine.:j0 -
Hi all, had a manic weekend, but here's mine:
1. No electric for 25 hours (power cut) meant no spending money on gas or electric.
2. No electric for so long means they should give us a goodwill payment of £50
3. The only food I had to bin was bread and rolls etc as meat was safely moved into mum's freezer after 12 hours of no power and we sat drinking tea and watching her tv
4. They found our meter had died after the power cut so bypassed the meter (free electricity)but only briefly as there was another power cut (this time for about 8 hours)
5. Neighbour with gas stove boiled up and old stove kettle for us to have a cuppa and offered to let us use his cooker while he was out for the day.
6. The meter was repaired and they credited the money I had only put on on friday (prepay).
7. A nice evening round friends playing cluedo.
8. Still having electricity when we came home.
9. Having a nice clean freezer since it was empty and warmish I thought I may as well clean it all
10. The sun shining today.
11. Seeing all the flowers coming up and letting us know spring is coming
It's amazing how much you take electricity for grantedworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
