  • Ollie thanks for your kind regard for my aunt. We are so relieved that she is away from the hospital. Their idea is that she is to be rehabiltated so that she can go back to her flat. The nursing home is just a half-way house until she can weight bear on her leg and then start rehabilitation.

She has no relatives nearby, her sister is 80 miles away and I am 120 but she has had quite a few visitors from her place of worship and the wardens from the sheltered housing complex have been very good. We have just been up once in the two weeks since she had the fall and hope to go again next week DV. Her sister has seen her once and hopes to go again on Sunday but has to wait for someone to take her.

I'm off to hunt for today's pleasures now.

    Bella.

  • Hi, everyone, my 5 for yesterday:

    1. Delicious curry with a lovely friend, at a curry house we'd not tried before. So cheap, too! Starter, two main courses, rice and two ciders = £20. Very good service, too. I love curry :D (well, actually, I just love food).

    2. Chatting with one of my gym buddies who offered to help me find a good tenant when I rent my house out later this year. He's a lovely guy, so warm and friendly.

    3. Another 1,200 words on my short story. It's coming on great and I'm on a roll with it.

    4. Yummy homemade hummus for lunch, which turned out better than I thought it would, given that I put too much tahini in.

    5. Feeling on top of the world all day.

    Have a good day, everyone.

    Evening all,

As always, thank you Ollie and now Jexygirl for your kind words to everyone. They are so appreciated.

So tonight is date 2 with Kiwi Boy. Unfortunately he has to work late so we have had to push things back by an hour, but that's ok... it gives me an extra hour to beautify!

    1) See above re date!

    2) Left work early so managed to stop off at Waitrose on the way tome to pick up some veggies

    3) Did a load of washing before going to work

    4) Put my old sofa on eBay in preparation for my "new" sofa being delivered tomorrow morning. I really hope the new one fits through the front door otherwise I won't have anything to sit on in the lounge!!

    5) Colleague bought some wine gums and shared them with me... I love wine gums!

    Have a great evening everyone

CCP - the apple crumble was lovely - will let the kids make food more often!

Ollie - I did say to my mum about me having her old one but she was quite insistant that it was too old and she would get me this one! It will be used. I do enjoy all the craft stuff that I do and have always like it but just stopped!! I am so jealous of all the soup you make. My mum bought me a huge soup receipe book for xmas but no one else in house will have any so I dont bother just for me!

Tabskitten - Thanks, I had it today and it was gert lush!!!:p

Catrina - I would like to join the eggy bread club! I had my first attempt today and it was lovely! Although dd didnt like it. She cried when I put it on her plate!! :rotfl:

Jexy - that sounds like the hat I crocheted but I used feathered wool so you couldnt see the mistakes and I sewed up the massive hole in the side so no one could see that either!!! :rotfl: We used to have chickens when I was little at the bottom of the garden. Every day before breakfast me and my sister would go down checking for eggs and feeding them. Then after school we would run around the garden with them!! I would love some now but just dont have the space or the time!

    Right, mine for today -

1 Got the kids beds changed with the help of ds2 who decided to pile up ds1's and dd's soft toys in his cot saying mine every time! :D

2 Got some good bargains today shopping (i know I wasnt going to but no matter) but that is it, i cant fit anything else into my kitchen cupboards!

3 Talked dh into getting pizza from asda rather than ordering pizza hut! :T

4 Fakeout night - pizza and a film with kids staying up late

5 I am in my pj's and when kids go to bed will treat myself to a glass of wine in celebration of dh's payrise the other day! :j

    Have a lovely evening everyone.

betty_kitten says thank you everyone for the cuddles :heartsmil

    My five for today:
    1) tea and porridge with jam in bed
    2) cuddles with dd in bed this morning
    3) work friend treating me to a hot chocolate at Costas
    4) maddening though productive day at work
    5) reasonable traffic on the way home tonight

Okay, about mum, her consultant agreed to write to step-dad yesterday, referred to him as a 'malignant' personality so perhaps they've finally realised. Consultant v. nice though.

Mum had arranged a 24-hour home visit with step-dad collecting her at 2pm today. I rang house at 4pm no reply. Rang hospital, mum v. upset as step-dad had cancelled at the last minute as he'd forgotten to put the central heating on (again). Mum now due to visit Monday afternoon instead. I plan to visit her tomorrow.

  • Evening all

I cricked my neck the other day and woke up a 3.30 this morning with the muscles in spasm so not a good night....however it's feeling lots better now.....although I did look a bit daft wondering around the kitchen with a wheat filled bunny round my neck :D

Jexygirl I'm glad to hear you took my advice and had a good chat. A problem shared is a problem halved. I hope you're feeling a bit better for it.

Sparrer You enjoy that holiday and make sure you fit in some relaxing time too. We'll all be here waiting when you get back

Ollie I hope you're feeling lots better. I'm glad to report that the house is still tidy.....that means more time for wine tonight :rotfl:

    My latest ones:

    1) Saw a barn owl on the way home from work
    2) One of the lads at work donated his lunchtime apple to my blackbirds....they're getting used to apples at the weekend now
    3) Getting my nails done.....they look great :D
    4) The glass of wine I'm going to have as soon as I've finished this
    5) Getting to know lots of lovely people on MSE

    Have a great evening.

  • Worked hard at my 'use it up' campaign today and:-

    1. Made apple and mint chutney to:-

    2. Use up some apples bought on SO last week.

    3. Use up some of last year's mint in the freezer before this years starts growing.

    4. Use up some of my empty jars, the garage is tidy again.

And the biggest pleasure of all today:-

    5. Spoke to my aunt on the telephone and she is quite content in the home she has been sent to.

Hope everyone has had a great week!

    1. Finding a school in India where my kids can go and visit for a few days to share cultures etc - I am not kidding, i emailed 14 schools (all in villages) and every single one emailed me back saying they would love to host us. Basically we are travelling India in June for a few weeks and i wanted to do things which would give us a feel for the real India. My son already has his journal from a trip we did last year published in the school library.

    2. I love cooking, but come Friday night i just cannot be bothered, so the Chinese i have en route (supposedly 40 minutes)

    3. The rain has stopped :) i don't mind rain, i don't actually mind most weather, what i mind is weather that can't make up its mind! If i know what's its doing its fine :)

    4. Ive been going to the Gym continuously for 5 months now, the longest ever!

    5. Grolsch - 10 for £6 at Asda :)
