PHEW!!! Saw it through to the end jexygirl and all I can say is what a brilliant job
Ollie I don't know yet if I'll go to Oban, DM wants to go away somewhere warm in early June so I have to give her priority. I want to go to the convention and my friend there introduced me to the fellowship so would love to meet up with her again, but what do you say to a DM who will be 89 in May? If you're as soft as me, you say yes...
Carolyntia I realised when I was reading about jexygirls upset that if I'm going to say to her not to let the b's get you down, I should take my own advice so Jersey here I come! Well, I will on the 4th lol. (Don't think the hotel has internet- whatever will I dooooo for 6 days?)
Another one for eggy bread Caterina, nursery food is always the best but we tend to forget about it so thank you for the reminder
GirlySquare :T:T:T to your DD, what a clever little lass. Will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well at the meeting
Bella I'm not a member on the NT but I read in the freebie forum they have a free entry weekend coming up toward the end of March so will take advantage of that. Thinking of asking for a subscription for my b/day and as that's not til July it gives them time to save up
My five -
1. A day full of surprises, roses from a friends, cards and good wish tokens from UK, USA, Oz, NZ...mostly people I've never met and probably never will, but all in the fellowship. I'm so lucky there is such a thing
2.Made myself a greasy spoon type fry up for lunch, it was absobloominglutely delish. I'd do it more often but the onions repeated on me for ages afterwards. Sorry, tmi
3. The Orange Spice cake. I'd planned to take it for this evenings meeting but I had to eat some of it before I left. How unfair was that?! He he
4. Prepped the ingredients for 2 loaves, minus water, this evening ready to turn on first thing. DM and DB are coming for the day so they can each take one home with them
5. Postie brought me some freebie fabric samples in the colours my 'new' kitchen is going to be. They all match/blend and are big enough to stretch over some old photo frames to make a pattern feature on one wall
Night night (((hugs)))everybody, sweet dreams

Morning all - just a quick post .... love your post Jexy and everyone else's. Have printed off the Twinx recipe - sounds yummy.
Here are my 5 from yesterday - scraping the barrel a bit I'm afraid (Grrrrr will this grotty weather ever give it up!)
1. My crocuses are flowering - beautiful
2. Had a good run with my buddy last night - actually running in the rain and dark is a bit magical and we put in an extra loop.
3. Race pack for Newham 10k arrived - run takes us past Olympic stadium so should be good sight seeing (although at our speed it will be a blur of course!!)
4. Seeing and hearing a flock of swans flying right over the house
5. Having a laugh with my dil about woodland burials, wicker coffins and organic felt shrouds
Have a good day everyone.

A ripple crochet blanket is done in stripes of colour but by alternately increasing and decreasing it forms a wavy pattern instead of straight lines.
sparrer we first had our NT subscription when my parents were alive so that we knew we had somewhere to go which was wheelchair friendly (the book tells you if that is the case). We were going to cancel when DH retired last year and then discovered it's cheaper for pensioners so we kept it going. It's nice to keep going back to the same place and seeing seasonal changes and can work out cheap IF you take your own food. Most of the cafe's are a very good standard and to be honest where we went yesterday is usually, but they must have been having an off day, we should have complained really but hadn't got the will, If you think you will visit half a dozen places in a year (we do four on holiday) and would normally pay admission (we wouldn't necessarily but it's a case of where would we go if we didn't go there) then it's worth the outlay.
Back later with pleasures, I hope.

Hi all
After all the positive responses I had, I feel compelled to start an Eggy Bread Fan Club, I shall be the President of course, with badge no.1! Then we have CCP (badge no.2), Tabskitten (badge no.3), jexgirl (badge no.4) and Sparrer (badge no.5)! :T Any other aspiring members will have to pass the close scrutiny of all of the above, who will be known as the Eggy Committee :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Alright, now for something completely different, my pleasures for today:
1 - Breakfast, toasted crumpets with marg and marmite (I can see that there is another potential club in the offing here LOL)
2 - Vigorous keep fit class and I managed to keep up!
3 - Lots of work done in last few days so only 2 hours needed today.
4 - Books from the library, looking forward to some new reads.
5 - Anticipated pleasure, my friend is coming to have dinner and it will be courgette risotto, salad and stewed apple and cherry.
Have a great night everybody! xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi all *sheepish wave* - I haven't been on this thread for a few months now but it's such a feel-good thread that I'd love to take part again (if you'll have me
).
My five for today:
1) Was supposed to be a NSD but I needed to get a couple of essential 'school' bits for lessons today. I came across a fab pair of croc-style penguin wellies for DS2 in town which were half-price and he absolutely loved them. I also wanted a set of Matryoshka dolls for our Russian project and managed to find a large set that was half-price as the largest doll was 'loose'. Again - the whole family loved them.
2) Whilst in town, realising that our lovely seaside town has some brilliant independent shops. I usually don't go in them so it was really nice today to go in some lovely shops that I've never stepped foot in before.
3) A really successful day of lessons. Both DS1 & DS2 did some practical Acid & Alkali tests. And we started our papier mache owls too.
4) Just 1lb away from my goal of 7lbs weight-loss for this month.
5) Trying out a new recipe - curried root veg and lentil casserole. Which I better had go and start now cos I'm hungry.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Good Evening Everyone
Ollie - It was a job I had been putting off but after using up the massive box of washing powder (which is why I made gloop) I could see all the dirt and mess in there so had to clean it!!
Jexygirl - I can crochet teddy's but I cannot crochet a granny square at all!!! Teddy's are easy as you just do really tight stitches round and round and round!!!
Catrina - is eggy bread just bread dipped in egg and fried?
Right, will try and find 5 for today but its been a busy day and a bit odd really, Thursdays I volunteer at a toddler group which I love doing but today wasnt a good one so havent even got that to put down! Anyway, I will try -
1 I didnt spend any money - yay!
2 My mum offering to buy me a sewing machine! I am still after her 40 year old spare one though as I really dont think I would use one enough to warrent spending money, but then if I do have one I may start sewing all the lovely stuff I keep seeing on the sewing thread on the special occasions board!!!
3 Cup of tea and whats left of the cranberry and white choc chip hobnobs after rushing about all day!
4 Shepherds pie for tea out of the freezer - nice and quick!
5 Dd and ds2 making apple crumble in under 5's cooking this afternoon which has just come out of the oven for dessert! Must go and sample that now!!!!
Have a good evening everyone0 -
Not such a bad day today:-
1. The whole house cleaned and tidy with help from DH.
2. Hearing that my aunt has been moved to a Nursing Home - gotta be better than being left flat on her back for hours on end in hospital.
3. Hearing that a friend who had been admitted to hospital is feeling a little better, been scanned and is All Clear.
4. Managed to find time to make a card for yet another friend in hospital, she should have had a stent fitted today.
5. Done a little, just a very little crochet.

Evening all.
Well, I don't know what it's like elsewhere in the country but it's utterly foul in Portsmouth tonight - even with my windscreen wipes in monsoon mode I could barely see where I was going to drive home. I'm rather glad I'm inside!
jexy - thank you for that epic post - it must have taken you ages! It's much appreciated, though. BTW, I went on to your website today - it looks wonderful and I'd love to come and visit - shame you're pretty much at the other end of the country from me.If I'm ever in that area I'll definitely be over for lunch, though - smoked salmon for me, please!
Ollie and jexy - thank you for your comments to my sister. I hope the lightbulb moment does come for her, although I can't see her being an OS regular - for her food is fuel, an attitude I can't begin to understand (which says more about me than her, I think!)
sparrer - you lucky bunny going to Jersey - it's one of my favourite holiday destinations. I hope you have a lovely time over there.
Caterina - thanks for the invitation to join the Eggy Bread Fan Club - you're on!
BlimusOreilly - welcome (back) to the thread. Your curried lentil and veg casserole sounds yum - wish I could have some! Possibly followed by some of nuttybabe's apple crumble... Right, I'd better make this quick as I'm starving!
My five for today:
1) I didn't have a lot of dinner last night (I cut my thumb open on a corned beef tin and rather lost my appetite), so I was really hungry this morning. Luckily there was a new loaf of bread to eat with peanut butter for breakfast - yum!
2) My colleagues were so sympathetic over my sore thumb - probably more sympathetic than I deserved, tbh, considering it was my own silly fault.
3) Had a spicy chicken pasty for lunch, made from more of Sunday's roast chicken. This must be the rubberest chicken I've ever had - it's just going on forever.
4) I decided to skip my evening class tonight as there didn't seem much point going when I wouldn't be able to hold the glass cutting tools, so I came home and finished off the rubber chicken soup instead. (I'd really rather be at the evening class, but I'm trying to be positive about it.)
5) I'm off work tomorrow so I can have a bit of a lie-in in the morning.
Have a good evening, peeps!

Evening all,
i'll leave you ladies to your eggy bread fan club... I cannot abide eggs... *bleugh*
So... what a busy day! But it's over and now it's time to relax a little.
1) Big result with work. I had been asking one of the directors for a year to do something and he kept saying that he would get round to it... so finally I did it myself and have so far got a really positive reaction from everyone (long may that last!!)
2) a nice email from someone who was at my presentation on Tuesday saying how interesting she found it.
3) Giving my old jacket to someone on Freecycle... I hope she gets more use out of it than I did
4) Scoring some free jam samples at work
5) Realising that I could use half the salmon that I will be cooking for supper as lunch tomorrow with some cous cous...
Have a lovely evening everyone.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
I'll definitely join a Marm!te on muffin club
Jexy - your place looks amazing, I need to find out where you are as my geography's shocking and come up to stay
1. Sold my waterlogged mobile for £49 + £3.50 Qu!dco cashback
2. My bro has promised me he's posted an old phone to me that hopefully I will be able to use as the watery one has finally died.
3. Managed to negotiate a cheaper SIM-only contract with my mobile provider, just hope I'll have a phone to use with it, lol.
3. I've bought a sewing machine at hopefully a good price and in a mo will get it out of the car and try to make DD a bag for her dance shoes
4. Placed an order for £5 goods from M1lk and more using Mo$ code from Sunday
5. Nice chats with regulars at the pool at lunchtime
6. DD and I made up a biscuit recipe that she says is delicious! We started making Twinks by putting flour and sugar in a bowl, then realised we didn't have any oats, so I made it up with milk, honey, raisins, margarine and popped them in the oven with some fairy cakes to make the most of the oven being on.
7. Lost some weight today0
