Sorry to have missed so many posts this weekend, hope everyone is ok. My 5 for the past couple of days.
1) So proud of DS2, he managed to raise 0ver £300 for the Alzheimer Society and completed his half marathon in the pouring rain.
2) I had a lovely weekend away with DH, it was very peaceful and relaxing. Thank you Ollie for your wishes.
3) Making another big pan of Curried Bean & Lentil Soup. This should last us a couple of days at least.
4) Finally sorting out my paperwork, which I have been kicking around for a month now.
5) The first reasonably mild day in I don't know how long. Maybe my seeds will start to come through now:)
Have a nice day everyone, it won't be long until Spring is with us.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Jexygirl that's one heck of a stretch of water to freeze over!
Wish I lived closer then I'd book just to sit in that bath for a whole weekend to drink in the incredible view, you'd have to do room service though! Come to think of it a weekend wouldn't be long enough to satisfy my hunger if I had a menu like yours to work through
I have a friend in Dunbeg who I want to visit in May for a Scottish convention in Oban but wouldn't have time to get across the lochs to you as well, more's the pity, and it's a long drive for me and the mutt. But never say never, who knows...? (and I'm house trained, honest!)
Re Trip Advisor, I've left a couple of feed backs on there but only good ones. Ollies and CCPs suggestions are really worth thinking about, I've seen this posted in a couple of establishments and think it's a very fair way to go about things. Please don't let the review upset you, it was imho completely out of order  . Probably someone who didn't think to say anything to you at the time, then when they got home they'd blown it up out of proportion, hence their poor memory.
I admire you greatly for what you're doing, it's certainly not the easiest business to be in - my DD is in the pub trade so I appreciate the time and effort you have to put in. Take it one day at a time, remember nil carborundum illegitimi and never give in to the type you wouldn't want back anyway0 -

Hi all
Quick one because I have been on the computer working since noon and I got square eyes!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Text message from my cousin, her breast operation has gone well, the lymph nodes do not appear to have been affected and she seems in good spirits.
2 - Fairly long lie-in and breakfast in bed (eggy bread) reading a magazine
3 - Even thought I knew I was staying indoor today (so much work - our charity was mentioned in a national newspaper on Sunday and I have been inundated with enquiries!) I had a shower, blow-dried my hair and put lipstick on, just for myself.
4 - Managed to get through a lot of work and had a lot of fun with it, the part of my job I love best is networking and I did a lot of it today.
5 - While I was working DS made lunch, pasta soup with peas, I was very grateful for the break and for the hot soup.
6 - I booked my ticket to travel to Italy on 27th April, back on 7th May. BY then my cousin will be better and I shall also visit my mum in Sardinia.
7 - DD's BF kindly offered to give me a lift to the shops, can't be bovver'd with cooking, so they are getting pizza (I shall make do with salad or some other veg).
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
GirlySquare - wd on 'maintaining the loop' after the conference
. Good Luck for Thursday for the meeting - make sure that you all know exactly what your mum wants to happen and that you all stick together. Will step-dad be there as well?
My five for today:
1) tea and porridge in bed courtesy of dp
2) cuddles from dd this morning
3) dp getting me a new mobile 'phone and porting the number today as my old 'phone wasn't coping with all the texts and calls from family since mum's been in hospital
4) getting loads of work done today, and sending a thank you email to everyone involved in my latest project
5) dd sitting on my lap whilst I typed this post, she's asked me to put a smiley on the message, she chose :heartsmil"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
I've not had a very productive day today, I couldn't seem to find the ON button.
Pleasures, well.....,
1. DH said I needed a break and took me out to a National Trust property for scone and coffee.
2. Never mind that the coffee was nearly warm and the scone was nearly cooked, we were out.
3. Home to lunch of a sort of a salad. I'm finding that I have a few green things growing at last.:j
4. A nice nap in the chair.
5. Glued to the chair for the rest of the afternoon starting off the second 'ripple' crochet blanket.

Evening all
Mine for today -
1 Cleaning the kitchen including the cupboard under the sink and hoovering the house
2 Finding I have 2 boxes of dishwasher tabs instead of the 1 i thought I had! :T
3 Making washing gloop!! And using it, and the clothes coming out as clean as using my usual powder and the best bit was it cost me less than 20p (as the soap was a freebie from a hotel) and should do 40 washes!!
4 Dd ate all her tea including ALL the carrots :T
5 The little girl I made the super duper pink sparkly teddy for loves it and has been carrying it around all day! Good job as it took 5 evenings and 2 afternoons to do and I will never do another one like that (the other teddies I have been crocheting only take 2 or 3 evenings to make)!!
Thats all for me.0 -
Good evening everyone.
Reverbe - I'm sorry you're not enjoying Life of Pi any more the second time round. I think it's one of those Marmite books - you love it or hate it.
Caterina - THANK YOU!!! I can't remember the last time I had eggy bread - I'd forgotten all about it until you mentioned it. I've got a load of eggs in the fridge so that's Sunday breakfast sorted out.
Hello GirlySquare's dd . Thank you for the smily - that's really cute!
My five for today:
1) Finding an apple hiding in the bottom of the fruit bowl for breakfast, buried under the clementines - I thought I'd eaten them all so it was a nice surprise. I had an even nicer surprise when I got home and opened the fridge, and found a whole bag of apples I'd forgotten about.:)
2) My mobile phone seems to be back in full working order today (it still wasn't quite right yesterday), which means I should be able to sell it to a recycling company for £70 rather than the £15 you get for a broken one.
3) Bella's recipe for spice cake on the forum this morning. I had a vague intention to look out a spice cake recipe to make this weekend, but the recipe seems to have decided to come to me.
4) Suggested to my work colleagues that we attend a charity curry night that's being held in a couple of weeks, and got a very keen response. It's £5 entry, including a meal, a drink, and entry to various competitions, so that should be a good cheap night out.
5) Put my chicken carcass on for soup and decided that I really need a bigger pan, as the bones only just fit in the biggest one I've got now. I've got some more survey points sitting in my account, so I'll have to have a look and see if they can be spent somewhere I can get a nice stock pan.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -

oooh... I have loads of phones (broken) knocking about... where do I need to send them?
I had a sad morning... not sure why I was sad but cheered up as we approached lunch time.
Hope everyone is having a peaceful evening.
Mine today are:
1) Booked my holiday for Easter. It is such an extravagance and my mum's friend has offered to help surprise my parents by arranging for them to meet up for coffee... and I will meet them there! I just hope that they don't decide to go away for Easter!!! LOL!
2) Posted off two eBay things this afternoon. I always manage to underestimate the postage though which is rather annoying.
3) Have two people coming round to collect (I hope!) things from Freecycle.
4) Finding that my gannet colleagues had left me a slice of cake from yesterday... yum!
5) Getting a nice email from a friend in Swaziland.
Sleep well everyone and have a good Thursday.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
