Evening all
Thanks for DD sympathy. She is OK about it, it's me that is a bit baffled and a lot fed up - but I think I was fed up anyway
Frith - ooh, an allotment. Jealous. Perhaps I will have to see if we have a "fred and Cynthia"
Kittikins - How do you find time to read all those books? I haven't read a book since last August- and I used to be the biggest bookworm out.
Vicky - hopefully you are less knackered today. I think it's the weather.
PQ - You will rival Frith with your charity shop finds!
DD - LOL and  at the surgeon :rotfl:
Sparrer - you are such a good friend
Caterina - LOL at builder and his mum. I am the "builder" in our house, which can result in some very funny three way conversations with tradespeople
Bagpuss - Lots of people seem to have the sore throat. DD got it todayHope yours heals soon
Tealady - Ooh Miss Saigon. DD wants to see that. Some tickets may well be had for her birthday.
BoP - love the old duffers response "not here" :rotfl:
Debtphobic - helloooo
CCp - They're just sausages to me! There is a saying in Austria "Das ist mir wurst" kind of meaning "it's all the same to me" but translates as "It's sausage to me".
Chicken - more leave?
Skint - 4 weeks in Tenerife <<weeps>>
Pleasures for Yesterday
1. Was late to work cos of traffic, but no-one had left! Deep breath, plunge in and wing it. Was fine, I've done that one a zillion times before.
2. Come to some arrangement about extra work I have been asked to do, having complained about putting additional pressure on an already pressurised team cos some other lazy b&st&rds won't step up.
3. Man came to give us quotes for new bathroom(s). I think they might be a bit  but we shall see. They are 14 years old and do need doing
4. Cleaner came
5. OH has booked flights to Italy in the summer and France at Easter
And today
1. DD hasn't got tonsillitis, but merely a sore throat. Fortunately she has been able to postpone her audition on Friday for another month.
2. Friend came for coffee after work
3. Had chicken pie for tea - said "moi poi" in true brummie style on it (though only one of us is a brummie). Taking the lead from our Chicken, I made cheese straws with the off cuts
4. Sat chatting to DD after tea, was lovely to talk to her like a grown up about all her options for next year. She seems very level headed about it all and thinks she might get a chance of quite a lucrative job if she doesn't go away.
5. Positive email from OH's cousin who is undergoing palliative treatment for cancer. We thought he had very little time left but things are more stable now.:T
Spending a pleasant evening looking up Italian accommodation for the summer.
Have a lovely evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thanks, all! Haven't heard from "Fred" (Cynthia is overseer of another set of allotments right by smaller son's school, Fred is head of my 2nd best choice). Of course, now I am imagining Cynthia has got it all wrong and there aren't 2 allotments free in Fred's lot at all.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons were OK at school. Smaller son took in his ipod to show his friend his train set. I had to smile at his videos as he wanted them to look professional so had various views of trains/signals etc. In reality, I hadn't realised he was filming so you can hear me in the background talking to bigger son, then Charlotte cat keeps appearing like the massive cat on the Goodies! Also, smaller son always hums while playing with trains (which he didn't realise) so he had done his own soundtrack!
3) I spent the day at Autism West Midlands in Edgbaston. 2 interesting talks and a nice lunch. Very exciting after lunch as I got to hire one of their weighted blankets.
4) Jamie Oliver's vegetarian chilli for tea (from the freezer as I made a triple batch last time) with rice AND wraps!
5) Smaller son has enjoyed lying under the blanket on the sofa and is now in bed being squashed!
Blowing a gale here. Something is blowing around in the garden but it is too dark and rainy to bother looking. MrN's chimney is being mended this week (but presumably not in these conditions) but I wouldn't be surprised if the top doesn't blow down tonight.0 -
Frith - excellent news about the allotment!
VJsmum - yes, you're right. It probably is due to the weather. Today has been no better once I realised I'd administered the wrong spelling test.
My heart goes out to all those people who have been affected by the floods. I've just heard that the farmer featured on The One Show, whose farm was surrounded by water, has been forced to evacuate his farm and therefore trying to get all their cattle to safety.
So, my pleasures are minimal and I feel quite bad having pleasures at the moment (hence why I obviously felt it necessary to administer the wrong spelling test! :wall:
1) NSD
2) HM Chilli con carne from the freezer, which was a DH speciality.
3) Sold a book via Amazon. Managed to miss getting to the Post Office today because of things going on at school so DH has promised to post it tomorrow.
4) Another birthday card written and to post for a friend's birthday this weekend. Must remember to post it though!!
5) Washing done! Just need to dry it. Sigh!

Evening all,
Hanging onto the positives. It's all got a bit hard iyswim. I'll get back on course though. It's been good reading all the good stuff on here.
Five pleasures for Wednesday:
1. Only two more fence panels have gone in the winds - could have been more!!!And the river is behaving at the moment.
2. Really lovely visit to my parents last night. DSs were on fine form and we stayed at their place way too late but it was great.
3. I thought my mum only had 'The Hare with the Amber Eyes' on Kindle - that's all she uses to read nowadays - but it turned out that they had a spare paperback version as well on their shelves so they gave it to me. No more searching and waiting in the library. That's what I'll start reading in bed later on.
4. Friends at our sports club making me laugh a lot last night.
5. The house is looking very much tidier than it did this morning.
Sweet dreams and hugs.

Evening
Pleasures for today,
1. Yesterday's work left over lasagne for lunch and there is a portion left from todays lunch for me to have tomorrow
2. Dinner was a plastic pot surprise - DD had toad in the hole, OH Lamb chops and chicken and pasta for me.
3. NSD though did do some shopping with clubcard vouchers I ordered DD a new railcard, some shakeaway vouchers so she can have a treat but not cost me and two tickets for Mamma Mia in April.
4. Walk home from work was quite quick as the wind blew me most of the way home.
5. Finally got an answer out of OH about where he wants to go for dinner for his birthday. He has been a pain in the bum this week think he is feeling his age.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening all. My five for today:
1) A good book (third in the Wool trilogy - I would really recommend it) on my kindle, which cost a little less than the paperback
2) The house is clean and tidy and the fridge is full.
3) A compliment on my skirt from someone at work.
4) Managed not to eat the chocolate raisins I bought for later in the week. Yet. Had an orange instead.
5) Another two loads of washing dry on the airers over the landing. They must have paid for themselves many times over.
Hope everyone is safe and warm.0 -
Lots of happy things..
1. I worked for 2 hours (cutting 165 celeriac):D and I don't hurt:) I had my mp3 player and the sun shone and I raised my arms and closed my eyes, like my mom always said, god is everywhere, I don't need to do to church to praise:)
2. Leftover beef magic pie for tea:)
3. Last of frozen rhubarb is now an amish rhubard pie:)
4. Cooked enough mash to make potato pancakes (in freezer) and 2 hefty cheese and potato pies for lunch for the next 2 days
5. I did all the washing up and the counter is clear
6. Started a new Herman friendship cake starter..bubble bubble
7.;) again:p I shan't say it, I don't wanna start you singing again! (skyrockets in flight:o)
8. OH paid me back and it went in the tinand its now at £550!! God I love this here saving malarky!

Monday
1. Spoke to dreaded tax people over an expected bill, more money going out, but it is known about.
2. Ordered new centre exhaust and it was in within 90mins.
3. Feeling grateful to work today, I’ve got the horrible winter bug, but I’ve been able to keep things up to date by working at home, also means I don’t lose money as we have some big outgoings coming up.
4. Shopping about for the kitchen is slow
Tuesday
1. Early dinner as Dh wants to pop out to a meeting, turkey joint, cabbage and boiled spuds, with a tiny amount of gravey was lovely.
2. We have literally nothing in the fridge, we may have to do a late Mr T run, will prob be to late for any rtcs thou hey you never know.
3. The meeting was nice loads of people and a nice atmosphere.
Wednesday
1. I woke up in pain, but not unwell don’t get me wrong, but I decided not to go in, just as well as when I looked at going in later, there was a 2 hour delay, making the journey just under 4 hours. I feel bad I didn’t try but it’s not like it won’t be waiting for me tomorrow.
2. Popped to Mr T the only RTC was half price rolls which will do nicely for sandwiches and breakfast toast.
3. Hearing the animals raiding their toy box.
4. Made lunch from the rolls above and some tuna (don’t tell the cat)
5. Some club card vouchers arrived, a nice surprise, £10 to save until their prices come down again.
6. Ordered a tonne of animal litter very mse.
7. Paid a big bill today, nice to have done.
8. The washing is all up to date and made my way through one of the piles of paperwork.
9. Just back from a good pilates class tonight0 -
Thursday morning here , a day off work and I started out in the veg patch at 7am, before it gets too hot. Pulled up our crop of sweetcorn, they've not enjoyed the intensity of the sun as much as the courgettes have and I don't think they will get any bigger , quite a few were all dried out inside, even though they've been well watered. So I'm fairly pleased with my crop and took some photos of them!
Yesterday pleasures included a nice day at work, bringing home left over / going to be chucked out anyway lasagne, tuna patties and salad...so that was dinner sorted.
Nice train trip to and from work.
Catching up on some more UK telly on YouTube.
Was very warm at bedtime last night so a bit of a tough night sleep wise. Intending to do as much as possible this morning before the heat builds up again....is it nearly winter?0
