1) welcomed at ninewells door said hello have you been away i've missed you. Told her about my travels and thought after how special she made me feel.
2) took in lunch - pasta and sauce made with yellow split peas. Nom nom
3) had to catch bus home (so not mse os cmpf walking) but was only £1.35 cmpf £1.90 yesterday for different bus. Quite a difference!
4) veggie visitor had bought linda mccartney meatless meat pies. I have to say i prefer my veggie food to be non-meat pretender but since he'd been so kind i cooked them with mash, carrots, peas and veggie oxo (which he didnt trust lol). And was nice to have an easy meal to cook
5) went to pub for bible study (matthew 5 all about salt losing its saltiness) then on return opened my post - won £50 m&s voucher in caption comp :-) must have written something really groanworthy!
On that happy note off to the land of nod accompanied by mark steel in birkenhead. I lerv iplayer :-)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Welcome DpDinah
CCP having been born in the smoke and brought up by a master butcher they're definitely bangers, snags are from Oz as is beautiful Vegemite, and snorkers - well, they're merely a BoP invention. Bangers, preferably Cumberland or at a push Lincolnshire, best served with mash and onion gravy. Can't beat it.
chicken you have almost as many holidays as I do! And why not, you earn them
Skint, VJsmum supportive maybe but more in word than deed, wish I could do more. As it was I ended up with a crashing headache which is the second in a week, so annoying as I never get them. It will be fine when my family/friends are
Broomstick pleased to hear the river is behaving itself at the moment
Tealady good to have a tailwind to get you home in double quick time!
Frith hope you hear from 'Fred' soon
VickyA yum chilli, I had that too. Chilli food for chilly weather
lfs so that's where the sunshine was today, pleased you enjoyed it. Totally agree about not having to go to a special building to give thanks for blessings large and small
PK good for you making the pilates class even though you're not feeling up to par
mhags sounds like you're really into this gardening thing with sweetcorn, courgettes etc, and out there at 7am! Roll on our summer when we can do that
DD I agree with you re veggie meals being non-meat lookalikes. Congratulations on your win! Would love to know what the caption was
1. Cancelled today's college hair appt as an apprentice at a local salon was looking for models, applied and was accepted. So I get a free hair colour/cut in two weeks time
2. Tracked down the distributors of the treadmill for a handbook, I explained that I'd bought it 2nd hand yet they've put one in the post for me today free of charge! People are so kind
3. Muttley has gone for his overnight stay, the phone hasn't rung yet so I think he's been behaving himself and it may be safe to go to bed shortly
4. Spoke to exOH who lives in Dawlish, luckily far enough back from the seafront that his property hasn't been too badly affected. The brook which runs through the garden (and down to the public gardens) is over the banks but the garden is on an incline with the property at the top. Sadly the loss of the railway line was a disaster waiting to happen, the defences weren't built to last so many years. Thank God there wasn't a train at that time. Small mercies.
5. No panic phone calls from anyone today. I did phone them both this morning but have heard nothing since. No news etc etc
Sweet dreams0 -

((Broomstick)) xx
VJsmum - you'd love to have a quiet afternoon browsing through my library books: at the moment I have a fine collection of maths and science textbooks, with a smattering of literacy and drama for light relief!
Yesterday's goodies.....
1. Picked up THE BAG from the shopNot 100% sure my laptop will fit in it!!
2. Nice chat with the caf! ladies when I nipped out for my usual double espresso during a break.
3. Lovely RE lesson with my favourite tutor.
4. Surprised myself by quite enjoying a classroom management seminar I was 'invited' (i.e forced) to attend with some other students. We have 2 more to go...and we're actually providing research data for someone's PhD, so nice to be useful all round
5. Went to my placement school's parents evening for the last 90 mins and am so pleased I did. I got to chat to some lovely parents, find out a lot more about 6 of the children, chatted to the teachers, and saw a few of 'my' Year 5s from my last placement. Roll on Monday
6. 10p reduced bread rolls, they'll do nicely for the lunchbox
Another busy day at uni today, and I should get my last assignment back (eek!) which will then tell me how many words I have to write for the next one! A blessing and a curse, as if I drop to level 6, then I have to rewrite the last assignment to cut out 500 words and resubmit it, but then it'll make my next assignment 1,000 words shorter!0 -
It's now Thursday evening and it's been 37o but down to 35o now! I am so over this damned heat! I met a fellow Scottish person today whilst getting photos developed so we had a good moan about the heat!
Bit of gardening done early and then the rest done in the afternoon ( Oooft,it was so hot)
Chatted with my next door neighbour over the fence at 7am, he gave me a loan of a gardening book that looks positively ancient ( he is 93!)his lemons have 'cooked' on the tree and turned into mush!
Got on a bus...not really a pleasure as it was bumpy and round lots of corners and hills and bumpy....but at least we have a regular bus service and was only charged for the one journey as I returned within 2 hours.
I went into the next town for a mooch around the shops, got some photos developed, bought a pair of sandals for $5 and a scarf for DDs birthday in a couple of weeks. Bus home.
Little snoozette but did set the alarm clock! DD1 had a friend coming back with after school so thought I should look bright eyed and bushy tailed rather than half asleep!
Made macaroni cheese for tea and very kindly gave out tunnocks biscuits from my stash for pudding
That's about it!
Have a lovely day0 -

Snorkers, [STRIKE]Snags[/STRIKE] or Bangers. Grill or fry. Lincolnshire, well FiL has the best butchered versions. Cumberland, they a just a roundabout way of filling a bun. Now do you banjo them. Sausage and egg banjo. Ms BoPsie does not like sausage and egg banjo, as it seems to leak everywhere. Me, a couple of Odlings (Navenby) snorkers, split. Hint of marmite (none of that cheap Australian import vegemite), fried egg, touch of mushrooms in a bun, from w8rx. The dribblier, the better. Now, that should put an end to this nonsense, all we need to do now is sort out the name for the oats, Porage.
Right, so what has happened? So a belter last night on the way home, in fact, had to go round twice to confirm. Two cars had such a little skirmish, that the car behind has a slight scratch on the front bumper, but nothing of note the other car, a 62 plate, that one hopes they are well insured and are suffering some debilitating form of whiplash, because if not, it is going to be difficult explaining to their insurers that the reason for their car being a write off, is a missing roof, nicely cut off by Pugh Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grub.
If I had a straw, I would drink more slowly. No worries DD, your secret is not safe with us. Ah, Teacakes, Tunnocks. Wafer as well. Providing research, dragged in squirming? Yep, use it all, never give them a penny back! First boss rule, if the packet is empty on Thursday, forget coming in on Friday. Thinks not many will remember that, but the film I watched, not many will remember a trouser job either. Straws again. I went off at a tangent there, nearly. Sure, I think Sparra ment Intervention there! Meatless meat pie. That will be Hot Air then. And a day off as well. No speak to tax collector, they have too much freedom. Hope everyone got their forms in on time though. Aches and pains. Now last Easter, sun booked for this one, BoP had is 5 yearly MoT on his botty. They took samples because BoP took one Ibrufen tablet ten days afore, at the site where it landed was like a volcano. Not had one since, whether I needed it or not. So. There. Potato pancakes, or have they become Rosti! Toasted Sandwiches are so 1970, now you can pay over the hill and have a Panini! Just be lick BoP and have a Crab sandwich, with seeded, w8rx reduced bread! TL, just take the buffer out instead! Fencing, hedges are better. You can grow raspberries in them. Not only a couple of chillis as well. And yes, VJ. It was greate! Pots and schools. And another newbie, welcomen Dinah. Oh, and I has not forgets CCP as well!
5 Sometimes you wish you could get the camera out in a flash.
4 Watched a film last night with Ms BoPsie, off to the doctors this morning did she glow; she was all giggly as she kept looking into the iPad. Was watching some football score, Posh (where she is froms) agin Swindle Town. She had a shilling on it. She no longer has the shilling. Now what was I saying, oh the film. OK had that lad who ran on the horse, spill berg epic from couple of years back. He ran on horse agin. Not bad, but I feel I am the real Magwitch.
3 way to heaven, just do not take the early exit.
2 nite is camera club and diesel into the car. Probably not in that order, and probabably a diesel for me. 6X about that,
1 My marks are indelible, washing will not remove them.
Now fors me claw sandwiches
Taps desk, looks at arm with anchor tattoo, Thinks I will change the bottom to a couple of snorkers
Oh, and nor forget to look in the hiding as well!0 -
Good evening all !
5 for today
1. Work ok - annual leave granted in March:D
2.Saw my s-i-l as I was driving home from work. She was walking in the rain without a coat or brolly . Pulled up next to her , rolled window down ..scared her to death as she hadn't seen my new to me car before :rotfl:
3.Mr. T vouchers arrived in post and some o Sm*rt Sw*p vouchers and fridge magnets thanks to this site :money:
4. Macaroni cheese for tea . SNAP MhagsterReal cheese sauce this time
hope OH saves a little for his lasagne tomorrow.
5. Day off tomorrow
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
DD - I love your caption - I see why it won!
It made me think of the old joke about the snobbish potato who wanted his daughter to marry an aristocrat - "King Edward, or maybe one of the Jersey Royals". "But Dad", she said, "I want to marry Des Lynam!" "You can't marry him, my girl - he's just a common tater!" :rotfl:
Ahem.
Dodgy potato jokes aside, I'm feeling a bitthis evening - I got my latest essay back from my tutor and it's just 2% under the threshold for a top-level mark, which basically torpedoes my chances of getting a first class degree. I'm wondering whether to challenge my tutor (nicely!) about the mark he's given, as he has commented in his feedback that I have done exactly what the instructions asked but has then marked me down for it as he thinks doing so gives a less compelling essay. I think he's being a bit unfair here, expecting students to guess that he doesn't like the instructions given by one of his academic colleagues and that we should have ignored them. :undecided
Anyway, pleasures:
1) Woke up this morning with a throat that felt like I'd swallowed broken glass, but a nice warm bowl of porridge (sorry BoP - porage) with rhubarb and ginger jam helped soothe things a bit.
2) Took lunch to work again so I didn't have to go out in the torrential rain at lunchtime.
3) Did my good deed for the day and told the lady at the petrol station that someone had spilt something all over the floor, making it treacherously slippery. (Thank goodness my car was there to catch me, is all I can say!)
4) Purry, furry Isis to cheer me up after the essay result.
5) RTC pizza for dinner, I think accompanied by a glass of vino as I've just decided I can't face going out into the downpour to go to the pub quiz.Back after a very long break!0 -
Oooh CCP, I think you have good grounds to challenge your mark, it sounds curious to mark you down following the criteria x
1. I got my assignment back - 2% less than last time....but still a Master's level piece of work (just!). Now my dilemma is, should I write my next assignment as level 7 or level 6? If I submit at 7 and my marks go down again, I run the risk of having to chop 1,000 words from it and resubmitting at level 6, or do I take heart from the fact that I did far less work on this assignment, and 'only' lost 2%???
2. Got through, and quite enjoyed, a PE training session - ooh, but I am a bit achy and sore tonight!
3. I saw two gorgeous horses cantering across a field this morning and realised that someone had just pulled up in a car, presumably to feed them
4. DD had an amazing day at school - fantastic feedback on her keyboard lesson, she brought home her RE book which has brilliant marks, her science club was 'awesome' and she went up 2 levels on her touch-typing club! All that, and she still found time to give me lots of cuddles
5. Less thrilling, but my 10p bread rolls were scrummy at lunchtime!
6. My Sainsbugg's 'value' bottle of wine was finally finished tonight, and slurp, it's lovely! I may have to invest in some more, after all placement is looming....0
