Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Evening all, and apologies for the lack of personalised responses - I'm feeling weary, and fed up with dampness (I took a pair of trousers out of the wardrobe this morning and they were damp to the touch, despite being in a different room to the leak :(), and worried about my sister who is once again very ill as she has picked up a nasty infection - it doesn't look now like she will be going home until next week at the earliest. :(

    1) Spoke to my lovely line manager about my sister's health problems, and about my damp flat problems - when I said I needed to speak to her she suggested she was too stressed to have much sympathy for anyone else, but rapidly changed her mind and gave me a hug. :)

    2) Chatting to a colleague at work about the pub quiz last night, as we recently discovered we both go and just hadn't spotted each other through the crowds.

    3) Popped into a supermarket at lunchtime to get some coffee and found they had loads of posh cheese on a very good multibuy offer. I put the bag in my car rather than stinking out the office, so ended up with a stinky car instead - but in a good way!

    4) Found that my OU course materials are available on the website so I can do some reading in my lunchbreak tomorrow, as I made several attempts this evening but couldn't get the words to make any sense. :o

    5) Feeling far too lazy for proper cooking tonight, so I'm pleased I have some jars of pasta sauce bought on SO in the cupboard - pasta bake and salad is about as much as I can cope with, I think!
Back after a very long break!
  • I'm sorry it's not personalised but only popped on quickly, will be back later to read "proper loike"

Another day older, wiser, worked lol.:)
Tried to get home reasonable to burn tea and get to pilates:o
Looking forward to tonight’s class, no idea really what to expect, and it’s next to the best Chinese takeaway I have tasted in the UK….
I will save 4 and 5 might be back later with them…

    1. npd/nsd - wasn't supposed to be but turned torrid early. Barely 1 for'ard, 2.7 back sortakinda. Grinding on, turgid stuff time. They come along, these days, in batches.

    2. Made promised call, again, at agreed time....yesyesyes, 'not here yet.' BUT, did pick up the promised 8a.m. call just before noon, all morning planning burgered/lost. Meetings their side have not gone ahead, 'will send a reminder'...basic plan still not set. A date is approaching fast. We need to know what's what.

    3. Just turned cold tap off, almost impossible, in bathroom. It shouldn't be running, seems jammed. Red woollens in basin floated up against overflow. Infinity pool edge....insidious soak/watercreep everywhere. What a mess.

    4. The new phone finds signal everywhere but here. The new laptop can stay in box for another year or two. It's not a happietechietime here atm. Scanning not working either. Nothing tfr'g from this one to that one. Aaarghhh! The other major thing being dealt with has kept me here all day.

    5. Four moans finally produce pleasure no. 5, or is it? Archers? I'm really disliking Will more and more. And where does child George's rather RP come from? Oh, I'm sure he needs the reassurance - official & approval of Tony Newvoice.

I'll take my taint away right now, lovely people.

Oh ccp, that is not what I hoped to see.
Quick glance back - crikey, are we all in this sort of mucky mix atm?

    Hey Everyone,

Hugs to all who need them.

VJsmum - I do it all year round. If you google adopt a british squaddie you can register to be assign a squaddie during their tour.

Going to try my best to get 5 down but bit of a meh day to be honest.

1 - A little extra time in bed as I had all my stuff laid out for the morning.

2 - A great management meeting at work today. Some really good input from one of my team, so pleased to see them taking on some ownership.

3 - A dinner to use up random bits and bobs from the fridge/freezer which was very tasty. Plus a little sugar free jelly so I'm still getting a treat.

4 - Finishing my book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to starting another.

5 - The cup of tea I'm about to make. I adore tea :)

Having to think about it has made me see the day wasn't actually that bad. Yay

CCP - your poor sister. I hope the infection clears up quickly.

Ampersand - considering the Archers is supposed to be set in Worcestershire, I can safely say NO ONE sounds like Will Grundy. Or Emma.

Terrible tummy again but considering what I ate for tea, perhaps I shouldn't be surprised!

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Smaller son looking deathly this morning but made a marvellous recovery at about 9.10. (He was very pale this afternoon again, though).

    2) Went to Worcester to meet my friend from Sixth Form College. Smaller son decided meeting someone new was a bit much for him so just pretended (politely!) that my friend wasn't there! He did smile a lot at her 2 babies. :-)

    3) A lovely half an hour in Santander chatting to the man about paying off my second mortgage. :-) I paid £18,000 towards my legal fees (thanks, ex husband, for taking me to court 40 times) hence the mortgage... Unbelievably complicated to pay it off as I had to write a cheque to myself but they were still not sure if my mortgage was in my surname or my old married one, or when the cheque would cash (next payment due) and what to do if I overpaid. Then I had to use the man's phone to make sure the large cheque paid off mortgage 2, not a little bit of mortgage 1! I was nearly friends with Mr Santander by the time I left and he said it was good I was showing smaller son how to write a cheque/what a mortgage is etc.

    4) My debts now are one mortgage and one small debt still paying off tax credits overpayments from years ago. Less than £200 to pay on that one. :-)

    5) Went to Game and smaller son got to try out the PS4 and Xbox 1 (apologies if I have got the names or numbers muddled). The teenage boys in there also testing the games out stopped to let him have a go. We bought a football Wii game for £2.

    6) Back home, crossing the road from the car park to our house, bumped into mum and dad's neighbour who was just back from a month in Burma. He and his wife set up the first school for the deaf there in 1962. Good to see him again. Smaller son had a chat with him as he took him (and my brother) to watch the cricket last year.

    7) Made a massive chilli for tea, Jamie's recipe with added roast veg brought here by brother. Had on rice but with some in wraps with lettuce and crème fraiche as well. Loads left for the freezer.

    8) Brother and sons now playing on the new Wii football game!

    9) Just made a batch of fairy cakes to accompany the football playing.

    10) Looking forward to the Mark Steele programme later and catching up with the Archers.

    A silly one to start....

    1. Last night's stranger from the 24 hour party aka computer room emailed me to ask me out on a date!! He tracked me down through my student number on a printout page that I left on the printer - top marks for investigative skills, eh?!

    2. Amazing science lecture this afternoon - will make lesson planning much easier.

    3. I made my scientist's day by complimenting her afterwards on how enjoyable and informative her lectures have been - seriously, she's the best teacher by far at uni!

    3. I had a nice chat with someone at DD's school about the incident on Monday.

    4. We learned a new word whilst doing the crossword at dinner tonight - emend (rather than amend)!

    5. After feeling a bit paranoid that I hadn't had an email back from my soon to be teacher tutor in my next placement class, I got a 2 sentence reply. Phew!

    Evening all.

Kk, it's great that so many aspects of the course are going well. :) Wrote this before reading your post #1! :rotfl: Oooooh, are you going to go?

DD, well done to your DS for passing his driving test. :T DS2 has had a break from lessons and is about to resume.

(((Hugs))) and 'jolly well get better quickly' to all the poorly people, especially CCP's sister. It's just not fair is it?

    Five pleasures for Wednesday:

    1. Rang my parents just after my mum had gone out to the hairdressers by taxi on her own - her first independent outing since well before Christmas - so it was liberating for her and a chance for me to have a good long natter with my dad. I spoke to him later as well and she'd managed to walk home which was fantastic. :T

    2. Spending time this afternoon curled up in a chair with a cuppa reading. Bliss.

    3. Greek yoghurt for breakfast, lentil and veg soup for lunch with some tinned apricots in juice for pudding and veggie tikka for supper. Nice food today.

    4. DS1 came home from work early because he was feeling rough but then decided to come out for a walk to the library with me. We went a back lanes route that he didn't realise existed which was fun to show him - much quicker to some key places that way - and we nattered all the way. I really love talking with him. Reached my steps target for the day by the time I got home as an extra bonus.

    5. Popped another £1 into the emergency/Kelly Kettle pot and counted my 20p fund which is now at £2.80. That's the money I'm putting by to buy the big bottle of 'poussiere de lune' ink. At this rate maybe it will end up being a midsummer's eve present to myself - the frivolous purchase of the year :rotfl:

    Sweet dreams,

    B x

I think his brain was probably addled by the hard work he was (or purported to be) doing, and he couldn't see straight, lol. We've emailed quite a bit this afternoon, and the prospect is tempting, but I doubt it will happen.

Giddynmg - spending time with mum & sorting a squaddie package are wonderful things!
Caterina - a professional storyteller - now there's a job! Then helping her friend with her tax - spinning more tales?!
Purple kitten - how much more of the numpty must you endure? Furry vengeance? Trainers are a joy.
Sparrer - that's the best way to manage beans I've heard yet! (We kind of got it wrong & had to tether the duvet...) Hurrah for today's photo being off the same block as your grandma!
Broomstick - teaching the young to cook is vital. They can eat faster than I can cook otherwise! Happy clean linens & hwb!
DD - there's a Dundee Monopoly bring played in Sri Lanka. Only MSE brings these completely hatstand delights for us to share! Love the interactivity lecture with the computer crashing - sure you carried on brilliantly! Knock 'em dead at Colombo!
Kittikins - glad you're returning to health & hurrah for the language Uni tutor. Been chatting with an Ordinary Student in the Computer suite?! (Great places! Almost as good as libraries.)
Mhagster - may all schoolbooks sell at splendid prices but above all at reasonable hours! The upside of working in black is it's easy to tell when you're off duty.
Tealady - all the problem solving is being properly appreciated? Well done DD at maths!
VJsmum - 7 more auditions? Eeek! You may be the little 'un but you're taller than I (my youngest 2 under 12 & growing too, just not as obviously - I'll be the runt in another 3 months...) Hurrah for a good parents evening & what did you reckon to the Musketeers?!
BoP - I'd *love* a platter of snorkers & soup hearty enough to re-take the colonies, but the medics are very clear - ask BigSis?! How's cribbage?
Skint yet Again - you have a wheelchair for evac? But hurrah on ulcers clearing & yummy enchiladas!

    Today's pleasures
Reading my son's French prep & after the "I don't have any pets", resisting the urge to pencil in "I have two brothers..."

One of those odd mornings where you're a couple of minutes earlier than you thought.

The 'shall I see if the Waitrose coffee machine is working yet?' conundrum. (In really early for good flexi, or in a little later with possible freebie - I usually end up going for certain flexi but I like the conundrum!)

Aw! Husband (posting in another forum!) has identified the gizmo I used to shift rocks with, caving. Big dumb grin!

Yellow stickered foodstuffs of the sort I am allowed to eat!

Big hugs to all who need them, courage health & strength be with you & raise a brew to the lifeboat crews who are all volunteers!

    Evening everyone :hello:

Manic day yesterday and an "interesting" (ie not in the best way) day today. Another day in paradise it wasn't. :(

However, there are some small pleasures in my life over the last couple of days:

    1) NSD today.

    2) HM chicken tikka masala tonight.

    3) A few yellow sticker "fresh" pasta sauces bought yesterday for 29p each. Now in the freezer for another day!

    4) Charity bag of goodies put out this morning (at last!) for the British Heart Foundation.

    5) The latest Lakeland catalogue has landed on my doormat. Far too tempting!

Right, I'd better go to bed. Such an exhausting day!
