  • Good afternoon all !

    mhagster- good luck xx

PK- (hugs) re POA . You know that there are two bits now? . Health and Welfare and Finance I think you have to apply for each one separately these days .. Well done re the rtc stuff . I don't know how the heck you manage it . I am amazed:D . Hope the animogs are ok x

    5 for today

1 Sun sun sun :D( not the comic of a newspaper)

2.Hens ventured out into the new run. Stuck a perch on the bars for one that likes to stand on things - cloches, picnic tables, my dinner plate when eating alfresco etc.

    3. Spent another fortune in some paving slabs to go round the above run. An unknown younger bloke wolf whistled at me in W*ckes - I'm nearly 45 for heavens sake and certainly not a "babe" anymore unlike our VJsmum;)Still it made me laugh.

4.Roast chicken for tea with some Xmas bendy veg!

    5. Washing in line and drying :T

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    Sadly, chicken, I don't think I've ever been a babe :(;)
    Frith, go the docs.
Mhags, hope the job works out.
DD, safe flight. Sri Lanka is it?

A pleasure for Friday that hadn't happened when I posted
Went to 12 years a slave. That is two films with mindless brutality within a week. I am going to a comedy next. It is distressing to realise what man can do to man

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Nice sleep, woke up quite late for me
2 Oh went to his mothers. She is moving on Friday (fingers crossed) and I was fearful he would come back with a carload of random stuff. But it wasn't too bad in the end
3 finished one load of marking as 4 more came in.:(
4 went to pub with kids. My meal was revolting, in edible. So I got a refund, treated myself to a pudding, which was also pretty dire. Nice to go out with kids though
5 DD and I watched Miranda when we got in. Hooray for Gary

    And today

1 birds chatting away 19 to the dozen while I hung out the washing
    2 making broccoli soup
3 tidying kitchen, which. Has been bugging me for a week

I'll save the other two for later
I wanna be in the room where it happens

11:30 and should be in bed but got here 10:30 too late for restaurants, tried phoning room service and phone wouldnt work, went down to reception to report phone and order supper, got back to room and had locked myself out. Honesrly shouldnt be let out on my own! So for today
    1) lie in followed by leisurely breakfast followed by lounge by the pool :D
    2) checked out at 12 and sat in the internet room for 4 hours doing dissertations. Hooray for my new puter cos hotel pcs didnt have any office apps on at all.
    3) got to airport in oodles of time. Free internet and late lunch of poached eggs toast and tea for $4.30 (just over two squid). Forgotten how much i like poached eggs
    4) found official taxi hire which is good in a strange land. Rather more expensive than singapore taxi so will need to get more cash out but hooray for being able to get malaysian money out at chiang. The world is shrinking! Oh and the first shops i saw in KL were... Tesco extra, h&m and macdonalds!
    5) no tea or milk only coffee and sugar with the kettle but have a stash of teabags from home and picked up a handful of coffee creamer powder (better than nowt imho) at the conference. So dd is now fed and watered.
23:34. Think i'll set my alarm for 7:30. Oh but corrie was sooooo sad on friday (which i caught up with saturday). A tear or three was shed. I know it's just a story, but a friend lost his wife to pancreatic cancer a couple of years back. A very cruel illness. Oh dear just as i was going for a cheerful note. Ok so....
    6) bop's 'poetry' :rotfl:
    MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
    25 for 25: 371 / 625
    declutter: 173 / 2025
    frogs eaten: 10
  • I feel sorry for Ms BoPsie, for the second week on the trot, near kitchen disaster with the whisky sauce for the Xmas pud. It is burnt on, again. Thinks the Scourer could be out in a few minutes to shift it!

Afternoon from a very excited Tealady, pleasure 1-100 is FN2 (her and sister are FN1 & FN2) is expecting her 1st baby in July. She has had a really hard time conceiving and IVF worked 1st time for them. I am soooo excited and happy for her and her DH they are going to be fantastic parents.

    Ok rest of todays pleasures
    101. Cooking session this morning so Chicken and ham for sandwiches for the week cooked. Batch of Butternut Squash Soup cooked, raspberry jellies made and some chocolate mouse. Yorkshire puddings made for the freezer.
    102. Washing done and hung on the line, not quite dry but nearly
    103. DD wanted a couple of books which we managed to get in the charity shop. Happy to get the bargain but also happy she wants to read
    104. Free tea in Waitrose and free 2 pts of milk thanks to a voucher in the free weekend paper they do.
    105. Did I say I was going to be a great auntie

Hugs to all who need them
  • :)

    1) Breakfast with my boys! Hubby was off today, so we enjoyed a fry up as a threesome.

    2) Baked 2 lovely chocolate cakes with a 'fudge' bar cut up and sprinkled on top. Made a lovely afternoon treat with a cuppa, pudding now and treats for throughout the week.

    3) Hubby helped scrub the shower down! (I think he's starting to see me struggle with the "hands and knees" cleaning now I'm so bump-heavy! ;)

    4) Hubby also fancied cooking on the bbq again - so hm burgers/buns, chips and salad for tea and very little cooking effort from me.

    5) Sunday afternoon games have been had at home...and I only JUST lost at volcano top trumps! Hehe.

    6) We're about to pick our family DVD and get snuggled under a blanket.

    Bliss. x

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Tealady - many congrats to your FN and her partner. :j

    1) With apologies for the rather unsavoury subject - I have been a bit worried about Isis for the past few days as she was showing signs of suffering from constipation. Last night I found a suggestion online that feeding a small amount of tinned tuna in oil can help, and I'm very pleased to say that it did. Isis is happy as she obviously feels more comfortable now, and I'm happy as I won't have to pay for a trip to the vet tomorrow.

    2) Found an old post on the competition thread thanking me for a competition I'd posted that another MSE comper won. It's a shame I didn't see it at the time, but it was nice to read even now.

    3) NSD and NPD.

    4) A lazy sort of an afternoon, half reading one of my OU course books and half watching sport on TV.

    5) A beef stew currently simmering away in the oven, made with RTC stewing steak and a bottle of stout won in a pub quiz several months ago. :money:
Back after a very long break!
  • Chicken: Thanks Chuck, we signed a solicitor thing form via dad for the poa thing to pre-register it back in 1997 hence not being able to find the paperwork will ring the solicitor as I don’t know how it works now I assumed as it was pre done and paid for back then it still stands? And whoo hoo about the wolf whistle tis nice to feel good.

1.Popped to the local garden centre as we need emergency pet pill bowls and wandering around the centre also struck lucky again, the chap in shrubs was so so happy it was infectious I like plants, they interest me and he was doing the 50% off I explained I need ultra hardy put them in the garden and let them grow, and preferably come back year on year and colourful. He pointed me in the direction of a pack of 8 alpines reduced to £4 and colourful yellow and red things which are hardy again, so they are all planted out now.
2.Dh happy and working on the cars.
3.Dinner was an omelette and salad, while yesterday was a lovely diet break it is pretty ingrained now I would like to shift the extra pounds and it’s nice to feel a tiny bit of progress.:D
4.Animals helped me plant out the plants, 2 of them have to wait for a container as they made it quite clear they would be eaten!:o
    5. 2 of the animals responding well, unfortunately the old girl isn’t responding so well at the moment, but she is all cuddled in my pocket at the moment I don't want to pull her about so we are resting together.

Ye Gods, I go away & I've four pages to catch up! Good to see you keep on sharing the good stuff.

CCP - that's good money from surveys! BLAST the repairs letting *more* of the wet in. Hoped the contractor was on your side! Puter back up & working hurrah! Under its own brolly, as indoor rain can spread? Fingers crossed it is the hole in the wall that is (no longer) letting in water. Hurrah tuna worked & that prize stout now simmering to glory!
ampersand - used the mug & blessed you with every refill. Hurrah for skilfully rehomed spuds "Quiet nights and peaceful hearts" - lovely!
Frith - if lying flat works, lie flat. Tell the medics, as they need the humility practice? Suddenly broken voice? Now that is a surprise! Teachers need to know where homework is an issue - neat bribe to lend the ipod! Hurray for jewellery making! If Eng & Ger dictionaries do not help, put them back on the bookcase. Please see medics, PRONTO. Texts good, healthy mum better.
Purple kitten - sent to the Smoke for schooling. Not my patch & well outside my comfort zone, but via parents so could all be much worse. Diets and yellow stickers can work together but do take adapting to. Omlette should be fine so long as you don't deep fry it (or put in too much hard cheese)! Thunder does not sound fun at all. Power of Attorney decisions worse - holding you in my thoughts. Brilliant silly o'clock shopping! All the best with solicitor, hurrah with new colourful shrubs & may old girl in pocket help you rest too.
Caterina - HM salmon fishcakes sound wonderful! Enjoy yoga! Also had a fish & no chips meal & enjoyed it - well done on the ironing too!
DD - glad you got in a real singapore sling as well as some excllent shopping. Only in Singapore! Well done with all this networking, as well as learning new dance moves in the middle of a minor feast. Hurrah for the £25 too! Of course you feel lonely at daft oclock. When in your right time zone, your blood chemistry is much more autonomnous. Have you tried a tuktuk yet? "leisurely breakfast then maybe a lounge by the pool" - you'll do. Amidst all this travel, remembering poached eggs is nice!
mhagster - hoping the power holds! Good to hear happy hoovering ongoing! Enjoy the returned relative coolth, & amble safely in the blue & yellow place. WORK?! Brilliant! Hope it works out well! If not wanting spiders, can you source horse chestnuts? It is said as they get wrinkly they give off a gas spiders do not like.
BoP - thanks for the yellow stuff! Curry Thursday sounds cracking fun! Ms BoPsie starting another winning streak? Sparkling car? Enjoy it!
VickyA - the air ambulance is a wonderful thing - worth giving up one thing from each room for? Talking to random people is fun. It's like opening books at random in the library. If hints about ironing are being dropped, refer the dropper to YouTube for How To...!
kittikins - for someone who wasn't a maths fan IIRC, sounds like you're doing really well - & hope Science lecture is fun! Hope the tension stays at bay. Definitely go with reintroduction of Classical Languages - it's a much les painful way of learning grammar, makes all romance langeuages easier & makes mediocine & the law more accessible. As well as improving spelling & learning some brilliant new swearwords (My Latin teacher got us through the coursework with bribes of Martial's epigrams. Not girls school reading At All & much enjoyed!) Fresh bedding a real treat! Brian Cox also fun & tyou have him byut the boxful - top call!
kboss - welcome! Top tanking there!
sparrer - welcome to the wild world of realising how others drive! The pub sounds wonderful with good chips & real yellow eggs! All the best with the vet - & rousing cheers! Hurrah for good embassy, company & Govt support for friend. Tough gig. Cinnamon the new superspice? Hurrah for that monster tub I got at Costco! Vet's pub puts the kettle on? Excellent! Warm bread & butter - no contest! Then a quiet day - better still.
mcculloch - good to hear DrC working & better to hear of Soup Maker! Very nifty repurposing Christmas treats to ongoing delights!
Broomstick - food reaction eek! Your shredder needs a rest too? Dad worked on a major computer that had "PBS" time allocated - apparently the monolith required "Programmed Blank Spaces!" Well done getting all the vital documents overhauled & well earned hwb! Glad to hear you recovering & that local garage coopoerative! You inspire me to give 'Few Eggs and No Oranges' a read!
Tealady - well done strategically shopping for Christmas & then rewarding yourself with the free treats! Robert Powell as Poirot? That sounds good. Hurrah for baby news! (Is this The Secret? Is she past 12 weeks?) Well done on free Waitrose milk as well as brew & you will unquestionably be a *Great*Aunt! (Re-read PG Wodehouse if in doubt?!)
Chickenopolis - flexi is always handy. Hen palace has arrived? *Three* big boxes?! (Henge!) OK, husband now (more) worried by my googling - what colour is your chook palace?! Could you swap your orange for another colour? Oww cableties. WD40 and duct tape essentials. (Costco doing 3 tins for under £9 when I looked last week.) Hurrah for being whistled at - it's splendid for morale.
lovefullshelves - read, rest & please work on getting better, not going on a spree with celeriac.
VJsmum - all the best for completion with the next piece of your pension pot! Friday & roses are good. Not getting too much from moving is a relief, and birdss twittering is just a bonus for putting laundry out!
ding dong saving - welcome! Well done making a bit of time for you, playing with young son *and* managing to sit still to feel baggage on board's aerobics! Better still OH doing Man Cooking while you play Top Trumps!
bagpuss - even for less than good reasons, family r&r is good. Brilliant catching the right time with son - well done! Ooooh, homemade shortbread *and* sorting part of birthday present!

    OS Pleasures since Thursday!
    Full moon - glorious!

Sharing a train carriage with a nursery trip - lots & lots of happy cheeping little people! Chirps of "fast!" & "thank you" a delight!

Guard checking all the trains I need are running, just for *his* peace of mind!

One of Neil Oliver's less-spoken-of brothers/countrymen is making poetry of railway station names. *Beautiful* voice!

Odd - after a while sat watching through the window, what is real & what a train set becomes a bit moot. Younger son of Frith still enjoying the power?!

Trying to say goodnight & coming second to an new episode of the Big Bang Theory. (I have to laugh - tears etc are unbecoming...)

"Good morning! We have tea, coffee snacks & we're now doing porridge!" "Wow!" (Snickers of amusement) "May I just have a coffee?" (You could *hear* the faintly disappointed shrugs.)

Lad on my course a worrying ringer for Voldemort. Sweet guy once you get past the "ulp!"... (Cheerfully resigned about male pattern baldness but touchingly proud of currently well thatched sons!)

Colleague's mug: "Dad, Fan, Legend" - modest as ever, that man!

Paused on bridge to gawk at Thames & London sandwiching it.

Wondered what buildings were used by whom but enjoyed speculation rather than gadget & research...

Uniformed schoolgirls discussing prom dresses with "like" every third or fourth word. They'd be appalled to think I was laughing at them, these little goddesses in training.....

Awww! Granny baking "a special batch" of chocolate brownies for grandsons, as she had none waiting. [Hours later, the contented quiet as the pile is devoured by said grandsons]

Grandfather pushing buttons to get another 20 minutes without APCOA...

The astonishingly cheerful tones over the tannoy as the little train chugs to the next tiny station - this lass as delighted with the world as if it were her personal train!

    My own bed!

Need to check the references but I think I've most of the rest of the horse picketing gear at the car boot. If wrong, useful tackle anyway.

Big tin of Bostick! As in small pail with lid. Husband trying to make happy dance look like just warming cold toes.

Knowing that despite foolish son getting school coat grievous mucky, can get it washed, dried & all clean & tidy again in under 3 hours.

Eavesdropping on researches of car boot finds, fine old Sheffield toolmakers & the distinct satisfaction of knowing exactly what a thing is, & how it should be cleaned up then put to use.

Looking at son's expression examining pot of nappy cream. Appalled bafflement (not unlike my expression at the price of canned beef consommee!) Husband now has recipe, materials & is under starters orders. Still waiting for Mr.DeMille to get in touch.

Great big hugs to all who need them, may you be seen swiftly & helpfully by medics, vets & all who offer help, and Courage for everything Monday will bring!
