Sparrer - very good news about your dog. :-)
MHags - congratulations! Hope it all went well for you today.
CCP - glad your roof is getting sorted.
So ill this morning I couldn't walk sons out to their father's car. :-/ I do feel a bit better now. I still can't believe this is basically glorified indigestion.
Anyway! Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep, considering.
2) Plenty of texts from smaller son.
3) Builder came round after lunch and will email me with a quote for the bathroom.
4) Have done nothing but curl up on the sofa today but am enjoying watching the Voice and am looking forward to Casualty later.
5) Oh, and I've been playing on the laptop looking at bathroom suites and tiles!0 -
Good evening all !
mhagster- we have an orange cube - a present from OH many years ago ( I would have like purple or pink) .
Broomstick _ a very grand duck house indeed did "we" pay for it??
5 for today
1. Can barely type as hands sore from attaching 450 cable ties to the new hen run!
2. Mud bath - sooo soggy in garden . Not helped when I thought ooh large rain drops- no, OH had dropped a paving slab in a muddy ( I hope) puddle which went on my face and in my hair.
3.OH went out for more cable ties and I got a call to say that he had broken down (not the OGV) and could I bring him some wdforty.Mud in hair and all over face but I did go and it still wouldn't start . Lucky I paid for breakdown on it as he was towed home!
4.OH left the OGV without petrol . My OCD can't cope with less than half a tank ! Fuel sign showing on dash - got £30.01 (bliddy penny). Bloke in petrol station let me off it when I gave him £31.00.
5. Orange tea - breaded fish and chips ooh and a benzo in anticipation (prescribed I might add) that I will not be able to move tomorrow as already walking like Aunt Sally from Worzel Gummidge.. now comfortably numb
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Firth: Hope you are able to get some answers.
McHags: Congrats hope the jobs goes well.
I have to admit there are pressures from all over and by the time Friday evening was ending I’d reached breaking point. The time has come to invoke power of attorney and its killing me in so many ways, I went to try and find the paperwork that my dad had put in place previously and could find anything but through the piles of filing. Lovely DH just pulled me to him and I crumpled into a crying heap, bless him, we sat watched a daft movie and 3 choccy biccys. You know I thought as you got older you got more hardened to this ah well.:o
1. Sort of counts as a pleasure as it was at midnight, the emergency response team had an eye on something literally around the corner from us so we went out to check it, it was interesting but not a threat to life. So we took the back road Tesco as the dishwasher is refusing to do its job without salt. So we popped in at silly o clock and I was smiling as there were a few uniformed people I think stocking up for a night shift. We went to the rtc section thinking habit as it will be cleared and well filled the basket up, 40p steaks, 20p mince, 20p veggie sausages the list goes on and on, we were shocked but pleasantly surprised and then picked up the dishwasher salt, the scarey thing I was sad and added up the real value of the food we bought, excluding full price salt the rtcs came to £7, marked price on them would have taken it to 56?
2. Absolutely laughed my bum off at Sarah Millican Chatterbox live.
3. All change on the kitchen front, watch this space for whatever we decide on I think our kitchen is to small for 2 tone but have a new and wonderful design now.:j
4. Just about to go and pick a Cantonese takeaway they are the best I have tasted, shame they don’t deliver to complete the laziness.:rotfl:
5. 2 more vets visits!! we now have 3 animals on antibiotics and one very old girl (9 yrs) who we are hoping will pull through tonight. But a pleasure to be trying and caring, a weird pleasure I know.
Edited to add sorry if its a bit down beat for pleasures...0 -

CCP Sorry I had to smile when Tealady called it your indoor water feature. I was thinking more Chinese water torture. You must demand a refund or at least much reduced rent until it's fixed properly

MHags - woo hoo, a new job! Hope it's as lovely as the Italian job was at the beginning but without the stress that came later...
Well helllllllllo dingdong, pleased to make your acquaintance
1. Cuddles with DD this morning when she came inLove Saturday morning cuddles.
2. We both did some homework, she finished all hers, lucky girl!

4. NSD and NPD!
5. Brian Cox on DVD! He's taken over from Poirot as our Saturday evening film night with DD, Wonders of the Universe indeed!
Can't decide: shall I go to bed and read a book on formative assessment, or go through more of the lovely resources I was given by the fabulous Broomstick? I think the latterxx
(or I might just sleep, as I've just seen what time it is!)0 -
Morning all though i see it's midnight with most of you. Feeling a little flat today due to a) conference over so adrenalin gone b) admin colleague left early for flight home so i'm on my own c) missing being married. Welltechnically speaking i am still married but i'm missing being half of a whole if that makes sense even if no longer missing xoh. So lets's think of 5...
1) very successful conference. Hoping now enquries convert to applications so we can put in a good argument for coming again.
2) back to hotel for a shower and the archers. Hooray for the internet
3) taxi to little india where we had a wander round then had an indian buffet :P very busy restaurant, good fun people-watching
4) i did go for the hotel laundry. My trousers have never looked so good. Almost dont want to wear them!
5) need to check out noon so enjoying last morning here with lie in till 8 (conference was 8-6 both days) sorting receipts etc, catching up on emails etc. off for leisurely breakfast then maybe a lounge by the pool. Dont need to be at airport till 5 so may be super sad and sit in hotel foyer going through a couple of dissertations.
Sweet dreams all. Get better soon frith Good luck with the new job mhags you must be pleased the weather is cooling formative assessment kk just deciding if i want to submit an abstract on the very topic. And dingdong dingdong very lesley philips

Fridays pleasures:
1. Dd3 was sick in the night, this not being the pleasure.
It resulted in a day off for both littilies and some much needed r and r.
2. From above a v contented peace ful day ensued, girls happily played with their toys, we read, played top trumps (the card game not the wind making variety he he). The bread maker and washing machine did their thing and the day passed by peacefully.

Followed by hm rice pudding.
Nursery food always makes things cosy.
4. A very nice bath, with yummy smellies.

Saturday pleasures.
1. A morning wallowing in bed drinking tea and having biscuits with poirot ( love a good whodunit)

4. Rtc fish for tea with hm chips lush.
5. Having a wonderful, scary, shouty, emotional conversation with my so v nearly adult son about the complete hash he is making of college.
As anyone who has a son knows, timing is everything. Tonight he was ready to listen, take on board what I had said and blow me agreed I was right.
Resulting in a night away from his ps3 and 3 assignments completed.
A sneaky 6th. A perfectly spent night off consisting of me on the couch with my blankie, a hot choccie, choc peanuts and a delve back to a very enjoyable read.
Frith- Dont be in pain sweetie, please go to the docs xx
Broomstick- There are no rules, eat in whichever order u may, we have had upside down days, having had dinner for breakfast , breakast for dinner etc.
Mhags- Good luck with the job!

She did not name names though but has told me if I have any problems/ issues to please go to her. The business is new-ish to her but she inherited the staff....I'm probably the first newcomer. I shall give it my best shot
Rtc pain au chocolat when I came home...eaten with my feet up!
Instead of snoozing....I cleaned bathrooms, swept front porch and back porch....spiders go spin webs in someone else's garden please, hung out washings, brought in washings, hoovered my bedroom, tidied the little bit of clutter in the basket near my bed.
Phoned friend from home....would usually phone tomorrow morning but I will be at work!
