Just popping by to say we're back from vet, the diagnosis is no more than a 'fatty lump' which older dogs are prone to, and nothing need be done. I've just to keep my eye on it and go back if it grows any bigger. I've come out of the surgery crying over two pets in 8 months, this time I was blubbing with relief!:o And bless her the vet said she couldn't possible charge me under the circumstances. We can sleep tonight...

    :j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T:j

    PHEW!!!!!

Thank you your kind comments re my friend. Luckily her brother had a friend who works for one of the embassies in Dubai, he'll help her with the formalities, translations etc., which will be a huge weight off her mind. Also her company has generously given her 6 weeks compassionate leave, and there is financial assistance from the Australian government with repatriation. Hopefully things don't look quite so bleak and confusing for her today.

Have a good rest of the day :)

eta re the Actifry - it's brilliant idea in principle but I wouldn't use one enough to justify the cost, and I cleared my cupboards of 'must-have gadgets' when I moved here 10 years ago, so don't think I'll be investing in another dust gatherer

3.Back later but peed off to find a note in my door to say that the fencing people had called and I was out. Told them I worked all day and to leave message on answerphone which they have not done. Why don't people LISTEN ?? Too late to call them when I got back as they were shut- proving my point entirely. 3.Waiting in for fencing people to "come and have a look"after phoning them first thing.Pretty obvious really as no fencing in situ in 5 places ...all smashed about or in half.

Sadly, my maths assessment wasn't my big essay...I should get that back just before I go out to my next school placement. This was me writing how I'd teach specific maths algorithms (oooh get me, they're not sums any more ;) ).

I was sad earlier - as neither the librarian nor I could find any literature around the topic I wanted to do for my next project.....but fear not, I have a new idea - the reintroduction of classical languages to the primary curriculum! Fingers crossed I'll find something about it, as after all, the government can't have just randomly picked Latin and Ancient Greek to go back on the list of approved languages by sticking a pin in a list of languages, can they?!?.... - and if anyone reading this happens to work in education and know anything about it, please PM me!!

I didn't do any work when we went on delivery I promise! I just went for the ride:D even that has left me tired out and swelly the last 2 days!
    So...I've
    1. read 2 books
    2. made apple doughnuts
    and very little else:D

Swelly - that's a good word, though I am sorry you're suffering LFS
Sparrer - glad doglet is OK
Kittikins - it's all Greek to me :p (I said this in the classroom the other day, in front of a student from Greece :o:rotfl:)
DD - glad it's going well.
Tealady - well done on the pie.
Chicken - love the diamond ring joke. Bet you'd rather have the chicken run

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. discovered my resit module has no students on it! :T:T Means I can be at home Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. One of them might even be a day off ;)
    2. Ridiculous convo with colleague
A: "I am so busy I haven't even taken all the xmas decs down. I keep finding odd ones about the place"
Me: "ooh like a bit of tinsel taped to the door frame?"
    A "No, I don't do tinsel"
Me "What a stupid word tinsel is - tinsel"
A " Not as stupid as mustard - mustard"
    Me "Tinsel"
    A "mustard"
Other colleague, T "what intelligent conversations academics have" :rotfl:
    3. Nice walk to and from station, gave me some more calories to eat!
    4. OH came home from his outward bound course
    5. OH and I watched Miranda. Usually stupid, physical comedy annoys me, but she doesn't somehow.

    And today
    1. OH did the school run so I had a bit of time to potter round this morning and sort out some monies, because
    2. as some may know, we took nearly all our pension pot and invested in property. Today we exchanged on a further house - just reinvesting the pension income. This won't bring in so much but is a different basket for our eggs. Completes on Monday
    3. Walked to town, to station, to office, back to station back home. 90 minutes walking = 300 odd calories to eat
    4. Saw a beautiful yellow rose on a bush in a garden. World's gone mad, but nice to see
    5. It's Friday :D

And I didn't even mention the marking - oh
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    1) Got my computer back, and it all seems to be working. :j

    2) The head of department was reading through some of my correspondence with a particularly reticent student and commented admiringly "you're so patient!". :o:) (Although, as a colleague commented when I mentioned it to him, it's what we're paid for! :rotfl:)

    3) Popped into the local shop to get something for dinner on the way home and picked up a pack of puff pastry mince pies for 25p.

    4) Brief cuddles with Isis before she went back into hiding behind the sofa - she seems to find indoor rain absolutely terrifying. :(

    5) Got my computer back in time to watch the last couple of episodes of Sherlock before they vanish off iplayer.

sparrer - that's great news about doglet. :D
CCP- Your LL doesn't seem to be doing much . I would be pursuing some form of compensation. It's not acceptable .

To be fair he does seem to be trying now - he paid someone to fix the roof and, not surprisingly, isn't at all happy that they haven't done so. I will keep on at him, though, as I've also had just about enough of indoor rain!
Back after a very long break!
  • Chicken I’m intrigued as to what it will look like when completed, look forward to photo’s, I'm just nosey:D
Vjsmumm: Absolutely love the conversation there, it had both DH and I, laughing and reminiscing to when we had decent work colleagues lol.:rotfl:

DH and I woke up at 6am by hovering about 6 inches off the bed with the most incredibly loud clap of thunder that went on and on and literally shock the house. That did nothing for the fight or flight instinct lol..:rotfl:(Hmm just re read that and it sounds a bit rude well if your mind works that way of course :rotfl:)
Logged in to 2 hours earlier for wfh which then gave me time to
    Watch father brown.:o
Get 3 lots of washing done;)
Chucked a veggie casserole together to cook through, but it smells a bit odd? I will be good just have to get through todays diet as tomorrow is a day off, but must try not to be too bad:p
  • VJsmum- I still have my baubles out :rotfl:But you know that I keep them out all year ! Well done re the property. You have got to do what you have got to do for your future. Bliddy good idea I reckon, considering it myself.

PK - I am bit carp with technology but flattered that you are interested . If you g**gled Omlet cube with walk in run that's what we have just got , plus the old existing run on the cube that attaches to it. Fortress Europe in other words...

CCP - you must be sick of it :(

sparrer, that's fantastic news about your dog and about the lovely vet not charging you.

mcculloch, that soupmaker sounds like a really fun toy. I could never justify the cost of buying one, but being given one to play with sounds ideal!

Kk, oh I was keeping fingers crossed that it was the other one. Still someone with 'good subject and pedagogical knowledge' is hardly likely to struggle with getting good maths essay marks in future essays is she?! Am pm-ing you with a couple of local projects that might bear fruit.

Chicken, I'd love to have an eglu and a big run for it and a bunch of rescue hens but with our garden, I'd have to build them a floatable ark as well. Maybe something like this http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01407/viggers-pond_1407822c.jpg although that was for ducks. :rotfl: Am going to have to wait until we move house I fear.

Five pleasures since this mornings post :D:

    1. Got some work done then decided that, actually I still felt rubbish and went back to bed and slept really deeply for about 3 hours. This is definitely a food allergy reaction. Was perfectly normal by mid-afternoon.

    2. Am cooking a plain supper right now to compensate: roast spuds ('cos we all like them lots), carrots, broccoli, and cheese & tomato omelettes. DS1 is back in about half an hour from work and we'll all eat together so the food's cooking atm and the smell is lovely (I put rosemary in with the spuds). :)

    3. My usual local village garage fixed the headlight and only charged me for the bulb that had gone. :T

    4. Walked into town to get my steps done but also paid a cheque into the bank and turned a fiver's worth of small change from the penny pot into 2 x £2 and 1 x £1 coins so these have now been added into the other pots. Small pleasures!

    5. Wandered back the long route to get the distance in so ended up going via the W8rz coffee machine again. Anything to get the steps in. :rotfl:

    Sweet dreams.
