Well, soaked and match abandoned. Just like the old boat. Minds me of playing Human Space Invaders on the herald of Free Enterprise in 1980. When we all fell, some one piped up with the words, Ships, and A Band On. Should had seen the Self Loading cargo twitch their lugs and peel their eyes.
5 Still soaked. So there. Not a pleasure, but got to do it all over again, and again and again and again. Just those mes go on.
4 Had to put raffles in the engine this morning and the water was there. Well, think it was that way round. Put Screen was in, and our Lion roared on the engine as well. Good job we fill at Esso (Other outlets available), as it had a proper big Cat on the tank.
3 Soring meeting out. Good to see how well my taxes are spent. I have two doing the job and 8 inspecting. And in another life, good job a previous salt mine did not get the 787 PD work. (HS are S). Acronyms I know, but …
2 Night big night.
1 Monkey Does.
Old Boy BoP was in Korea. Never considered buyng a toy gun, want to learn to use one, join up. I played quite a bad baddie as well! Had a few toys, and impressive fireworks. Noise and commotion, but for a purpose. When your ogle box and screen is full of grotesque violence, then you become numb to its effects.
Now to my toasted fox, and claws.0 -
Thank you all so much. Working from home, I don't have very many colleagues to share the news with, though quite a few friends work in teaching and do understand what that means.
In my last classroom based job I had one bad observation, and it knocked my confidence - there were various reasons behind it, not all of which were under my control. I got back on track in this job over the last three - four years, I never want to be 'just satisfactory' again.
1.A wonderful evening last night at the live music club. It was absolutely packed out, I skipped the pie and peas on offer (free!) but revelled in the music, most of it caught on video to upload to our club FB group.
2. A lovely pedicure - a DIY job, but absolute bliss. I need to make these a twice a week thing, I think. I enjoy them so much.
3. A very OS meal scheduled for tea - liver and bacon casserole with mustard mash. I've also found several recipes for faggots, which I can make with liver, bacon offcuts and belly pork. The lamb's liver in the cheap freezer shop is significantly cheaper than pig's liver from anywhere else.
4. My freebie shower gel was every bit as nice as I'd hoped.
5. 10 sachets of coffee arrived as a freebie. A rather expensive brand too. I've just drunk one and it was lovely.
6. A relatively comfortable night's sleep as turmeric /painkillers seemed to work - or something did.
Forgot to say, Frith, I had terrible service from Santander with my interest only mortgage. I was so relieved when I got a decent set of earnings figures and was able to remortgage to a different provider - with a repayment arrangement.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Afternoon all.
I'm still computer-less, sadly - I spoke to the company and they claim they can't find anything wrong but are still looking, and I won't have it back until tomorrow at the earliest.
mcculloch - a great result, and clearly very well deserved. :T
mhagster - I love hot weather but I think even I'd struggle with those sorts of temperatures. I hope things cool down for you soon.
Get well now to all poorlies, human and animal.
Some pleasures for the past couple of days:
1) My ceiling is definitely no longer leaking, although I'm suspicious about the back wall as that doesn't seem to be drying out - I wonder if they did anything about the broken guttering or just left it so water is still pouring down my back wall when it rains. (I haven't been at home during the last few downpours so I can't see for myself what's happening. :undecided)
2) Possibly got my first competition win - I received a 'missed delivery' card from a courier and haven't ordered anything online so it must be something unexpected. It's being redelivered to me at work tomorrow - it's all very exciting! :j
3) A fairly quiet period at work so I can catch up with all the competitions I would otherwise be missing - it's addictive, this comping thing!
4) Exchanging texts with my sister about a book we were both reading on our kindles.
5) Booked a table for our annual quiz team meal for next week - we have £55 of winnings and a £10 voucher to spend, which will bring down the cost a bit. :money:
Have a great evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all !
Mcculloch - well done you !
PK- I hope that the ferret is ok?
CCP - oooh I wonder what you might have won ?

2. Arranged a lunch in a few weeks time with an ex colleague and a few select current colleagues.Looking forward to it.
3.Quorn spag bol for tea for me .
4,Terrier very clingy and cuddly today , hens still out when I got home all well in animal world which means all is well in my world.
Can't think of another . Sadly,my ex bosses son (who was in his 70's) who went missing on 29th Dec.was found dead washed up on a beach:(Tragic .
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

1. Roast veg, all homegrown for tea:)
2. Copycat rice-a-roni, and they still don't know its not from a packet!!
3. Packed 14 boxes of celeriac:) and went on the delivery run!
4. Had a healing nap after all the excitement of going on a delivery!
5. Apples from the store in the shed..to be made into apple fritters (the recipe sounds like apple doughnuts to me!!)

4 finally got my P60 from work, so DH can finish tax and stop nagging me about it
5 simple tea of pasta and prawnsI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening all.
mhagster - I know it must be so uncomfortable for you in all that heat but I love hearing about it because it gives me hope that there are warmer climes somwhere on this planet of ours right this minute. It cheers me up!
CCP, fingers crossed that it's a win (and a good one at that!) Sad news about your ex-boss' son.
Five pleasures for Wednesday:
1. Have been rearranging the sitting room/office for much of the day. I remembered to take 'before' pictures to cheer myself up. I'm only part way through but I have everything down one wall arranged and that will give me incentive to keep going.Only three more walls of tables, bookshelves, cupboards etc to go.
2. Took a ton of shredded paper and cardboard boxes to the dump. It helps so much to keep getting the stuff out the door.
3. Rather than stop off in town on the way back I went home, parked the car and walked back in to go and pay the electricity/gas bill at the Post Office. It meant I've got another steps total achieved for this week. :A
4. Stopped off at our knitting/sewing shop to get some more elastic - this time to fix DS1s tracksuit trews, and it made me smile because the place was packed out with loads of older men standing around looking bored while their older female partners were taking ages to choose buttons, wool, knitting bags etc etc...There were loads of blokes. The poor things looked so bored and they couldn't stand outside to wait because it was raining. I think they should have given them all crochet hooks and scrap wool and given them a little workshop in making granny squares.
5. Inspired by CCP, I've just blitz entered some competitions. Haven't done that for ages.
Sweet dreams

Good evening everyone! :hello:
Is it the weekend yet? No? Tomorrow? Oh well.....
Thankfully, there have been some pleasures in my day.
1) Chicken Tikka Masala for supper from the freezer. Made to a Good Food recipe and DH commented on how lovely it was.
2) I was on a course this afternoon at a school around the corner from home. Meant I was home early so I got changed and went for a walk down into town and around. Not as far as I thought, so I'll have to do it more often and further...
3) Managed to finish my book too - a whole 8 days before book club. This is akin to a miracle!
4) Bracing myself to teach negative numbers to my class tomorrow. I've laminated an independent matching activity for a little bit of revision. Anyone want to cut them out?
5) Another small amount become payable on TopCashBack! :j :j All going to pay a club subscription next January.

VJsmum - first driving lesson survived! Chocolate Importing, eh? <rushes off to read up in Monster...> Excellent that DH can stop nagging now P60 with you!
Chickenopolis - getting home in daylight took special negotiation but soon I should see the lads by Natural Light! Have fun with the Megarun! Cuddly terrier good, retrieval of lost son gruesome. Take them food? You can't eat flowers.
mcculloch - if you can't brag a little bit with us, something's wrong - Well Done on the Grade 1, Outstanding! Pedicure sounds wonderful & am profoundly impressed with your hands on approach to entrails.
Purple kitten - hoping ferret responds well to antibiotics. (Tempted to insert in irritiating toot at works' trous, but you Like ferret.) Ooooh weather station! (Bring us yellow stuff?!)
Skint yet Again - hope hope hope specials see it your way & that fridge-freeze "walks" without needing you to deal in favours. Freecycle?
lovefullshelves - well done sneaking TVP in! And bless diabetic friend passing temptation along to you! What are you doing going out on deliveries?! Rest Til Feb, you told us...! Hurrah for rice-a-roni & apple fritters!
ampersand - do not raise hopes for 'e-acute' - one of the site techs explained that it's locked out as a known virus route. Maybe the refurb may lift the barrier. Whoopee real calendar! Another fan of the Glasgow YHA here.
Frith - even horsepills take a little while to take effect, whereas a log under the head end of the bed can do a surprising amount. Still no pain post Pilates? You're doing it right, then! Hair-raising driving a function of idiot drivers.
VickyA - fajitas are great fun! Hurrah for nice manager too! Book club finished Before Club? Shocking!
Sparrer - car startlingly affordable as worst case scenario included scrap value. Wash dog, get to enjoy yellow stuff with a clear conscience!
Broomstick - quality toddler time - yes! Your bed is so lovely you are preparing to relocate books?! Before photos - genius idea! I've been to wool events where men drooped, waiting. So wanted to open a pub for them!
kittikins - inspirational? Dead right! Wedding in August? Well, not enough time to worry the little stuff...
mhagster - atta girl with the rain butts & veggies, hurrah on cash buyer (eventually) & Victorian Farm great fun - maybe even more so in the heat?
BoP - soaked and match abandoned - hope you're up to Raffles standards of warm & dry now!
CCP - shudder to think what they're *doing* with puter. Happy kindling with sis!
OS Pleasures
Got to sleep in a bit.
The big grin from the nurse as I pinned the cotton wool with a finger after the second needle.
Getting a text from a collegaue after one of her exams - she thinks she's passed!
Saw a trotter with the most *incredibly* feathery legs. Apparently washed daily & dried with a leaf blower!
Hearing the hoped for meal out at a Lebanese restaurant is booked! Babaganoush, here I come!
Big hugs to all who need them, may all medication & turmeric work, & wish me luck as I venture (briefly) into The Smoke.... Back soon I hope!0 -
A couple of additional pleasures for today:
Filled the meters on two survey sites so have £50 cash and £25 vouchers coming my way. :money:
Came home to find a big, fat envelope on my doormat, containing a book won in another competition. :j In return I have to do a review once I've read it, but that's no real hardship.
Broomstick - good luck with your competitions.
Chicken - so sorry to hear about ex-boss' soon.Back after a very long break!0
