mcculloch-very many sincere congratulations. Such consistency is hugely impressive. Lucky students of mcc.
ccp - every good wish to little sister.
skint - why not try Freecycle? People do take them for bobflowerdew-y reasons and other.
Bienvenue, artdecogirly[if you find some secret way of tricking mse into letting us correctly insert 'e-acute', do let me know. It irritates me]
1. 4 London days to add another year in anonymity. Good decision.
2. On THE day, hopped off a bus to somewhere because I suddenly saw an ANTIQUES sign. Then occurred something beyond extraordinary, but I cannot really put it here. Involved high profile x, 1982, late OH's former ex[one of several]-also one-time high profile, and coincidence that cannot remotely fit on the Incredible Scale, all with Harrod's champagne and way,way more. Have happy pics with high profile x and suitable writing on sth. A marvellous and amazing time - complete fluke.
3. Over road to old Father Thames most mornings. Purposely bought dead bread. Gulls and pigeons never fail to engage me, the pull and push of tides and skies and London's changing skyline ditto.
4. Good grief! - it's B....and M...and S....and A... and how many more of the usual suspects, as I found my way round Wimbledon boot, Sat v. early. I learn it's another of M's market family. Great fun, hopefully saleable too. Tomtom was brilliant for getting there. All my London life was NW's 3 and 6.
5. Meandered, vaguely thinking 'afternoon oval ball footie around Blackheath for some watching, shouting, catharsis.' In crawling traffic, was struck by a magnficent building on my right. Dulwich College - and I found matches next door, was made instantly, hugely welcome. Old Alleynian 2nds vs Thanet Wanderers; Old Alleynian 4ths vs Old Dartfordians.
http://www.alleynian.org/OARugby/Home.php
Beautiful yellow thing afternoon, making the big-splosh splashes from lush green ground all the more incongruous - pure paddy conditions. Both absolute, all-out, 101% give-all games, total engagement - real matches. Familiar, bop?
6. Dimanche soir back at London base - fantastic. Impromptu evening out of nothing, unlikely mix of peeps: young 20's, all new to this side of world>&, and other old cynics/observers/philosophers, superb leg of NZ [bien sûr]lamb, good wine, everyone bringing sth - lit. and fig.- to one of those marvellous evenings round a big table which go on happily, no-one maudlin, until way after 3...whereupon Greek T, NZ M, English R, decided they were better hanging on then heading to work post-shower/change. &, having no such constraints, therefore offered self as b-itch duty maman, sorted brekkies for all. A good time was had etc.etc.
7. From M, my beloved need met: L'Almanach du Facteur arrived from France.
8. Have I really spent much of the day on this next? yes, I have. So, train to Glasgow Sat a.m.[redspottedhanky.com], then Scotstoun Stadium for Toulon vs Glasgae Wanderers here:
https://www.eticketing.co.uk/scottishrugby/details/event.aspx?itemref=3487
- eating here:
http://www.labonneauberge.co.uk/, sleeping here:
http://www.syha.org.uk/hostels-in-scotland/lowlands/glasgow.aspx [have been before: love the place]
- all for price of match ticket, the rest Courtesy of Mr T, as is renewed Railcard. Still have some Gaff Rouge vouchers left too.
More 'why not?' from Ms Sod It.

What really irks is the realisation that I must now tick the last age-group box in drop-down menus...upon which discordant note I stomp off.

Well done, McC!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) No side effects from big tablet yet... no improvement either!
3) Survived truly dreadful school run. Nothing gritted (again) so slid down the hill out of the village past a huge wagon stuck on the ice trying to get up. Then went past second wagon at a jaunty angle then a car on its side in the hedge - all this within a mile of home!
4) Pilates class. Some of the exercises "pull" a bit at the time, but I feel sort of short changed that there are no achey bits afterwards. Don't feel as though it is doing me any good!
5) Popped into mum and dad's for a cup of tea and stopped for a corned beef and beetroot sandwich.
6) Phoned the builder who replastered my living room 2.5 years ago and he is coming to give me a quote - hoorah!
7) Enjoyed watching Holby City.0 -
What fabulous news mcculloch29! :j :j :j
I went out with a friend last night. Great to catch up with her and the deal that normally runs in the pub between 6 and 7, the manager let us have at 8pm! Bonus!
So, my pleasures for the last couple of days:
1) DH made fajitas for this evening. Delicious and quick!
2) Online survey completed. Slightly closer to my next JL voucher, but not much!
3) Nearly finished my book club book!. Not my normal sort of book, but it's been surprisingly readable.
4) Charity bag has been received. Now to fill it! :T
5) Contemplating joining Rosemary Conley online. I used to go to a class, but there's not one near me. I get the magazine too, but does anyone have any experience of the online club, please?
Night all

DfV the €'s would have been for my June holiday but now we're going to Croatia which has the kuna. I believe €'s are accepted in some places but not everywhere so will leave what I have for another time. Pleased your car wasn't as painful as it might have been
Frith get well now. Sorry to hear about the horrid drive, hope it gets better over the week
PK hope the ferret responds well to the anti-b's and makes a quick recovery
Vicky nice manager for letting you have the deal at 8pm. If more did that it would encourage people to keep going back
1. Bathed the doglet, best exercise there is! It took 2 1/2 hours to dry him as his double coat is very long
2. Bathroom got a good clean and de-hair
3. managed to fix the side gate which has been botched several times by contractors. Hope it lasts this time, it's no fun having a side gate you can't use!
4. Was going to start the 5/2 diet plan today but as I was getting some salad out of the fridge I saw a sweet potato which was on its last legs. It made yummy chips, waste not, want not...;)
5. Made a loaf using @ldi wm flour which is half the price of similar flours in the 'big 5'. It looks perfectly okay and smells delish, not tried it yet as it's only just come out of the bm but at that price I'm certainly happy with it so far.
6. nsd/npd
7. The yellow thing made lengthy appearance today
Sweet dreams0 -
Evening all.
Happy travels to those not on these shores. Get better soon for those with dodgy insides (including animals). And mcculloch, that feedback really is worth celebrating. Lovely news.:T
Five pleasures for Tuesday:
1. Playing with my favourite toddler late afternoon.
2. Getting a load of difficult work emails written and sent. The pleasure was in finishing them.
3. Very good cheese and tomato and mushroom omelette for supper.
4. The kitchen is still in very good shape - DS1 has done and put away all the washing up and dealt with the recycling. This morning the fridge was almost empty so the veggie box contents could get put away straight away. Love it.:D
5. Knowing that I have a hottie waiting for me in my beautiful bed (and yes I did sleep like a happy log in it last night!)My tiny room is looking the nicest it has ever been and it's making me want to clear up the rest of it. There's just about enough room for the bed and two walls of bookshelves and me! Quite a few of those books can be found other homes I think.
Sweet dreams

1. Interesting lectures and seminars at uni today
2. Feel prepared for tomorrow's uni day! Reading - doneBooks in bag - done
Packed lunch made??.........errr, not yet!
3. Felt honoured that DD chose me to be the subject of her homework, entitled "The person who inspires me the most" xxx
4. Proud of DD, as she and 4 others are now joining the Year 5/6 class for maths lessons!
5. Finally made it to a DD-school PTA meeting tonight! I asked someone to put some fairy lights out for me
6. Felt very happy for one of the newly-engaged girls as, almost unbelievably, her vicar has been able to book them in for the wedding at the beginning of August - this year!! She is so excited0 -
Well done McC from me , it is very nice to be recognised for your hard work.
poorly people and poorly pets please get better soon.
I don't want to be a moan ( really I don't! ) but another very hot day in Hotsville , the land of the hot. Another 42o day and apparently last night was the hottest overnight temps since 1905, I would agree with that!
Just been out in my little air conned car to the air conned supermarket to stock up on bread, milk and fruit...and chocolate cheesecake and the biggest watermelon ever! I've waited all day until the temp dropped down into high 30's to go out!
Just watered the veggies and the water in the butts is starting to run low and the water was very warm! But we're still using free rainwater at the moment.
As I said to DD 1 in the air conned car we are lucky that we live in a house with some air con ( not the greatest) and we can have cool showers and we can run water straight from the tap and food from the fridge, there are thousands of people living rough and homeless just in Melbourne who will really be finding it tough.
Man picked up book last night , about 2 hours after he'd said he'd come but paid hard cash. DD2 's last school book arrived in post ( think postie got a fright at my heated hairdo!) free delivery and $5 cheaper than school book shop.
Have been watching Victorian farm series! I'm sure this was on before we moved here but nice to watch it again.
There! Surprised myself! Have had my miserable moany head on all day.
pirate pete I am Scottish not Australian ....therefore anything above 25o feels hot
Have a lovely day..watch out for slippy paths.0
