Quel soulagement, dd. Merci millefois.
I'm so glad you have the forthcoming distraction of work in far places to displace some That was then/This is now dichotomy. Yes, scars remain. Had a significant date from another life yesterday myself.
Stoic, onward.

À propos of nothing here, felt a James Hunt equivalent shock, hearing of Schumacher's accident. Without any foregoing interest, nonetheless feel tense 'on watch' concern. We can hope.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Evening
LFS - Gentle hugs, I know how you feel I still can't take my brothers details out of my contacts 4 years on.
Sparrer - Hope your tests go well
Pleasures for today,
1. As DD working this morning and OH playing golf had a lovely couple of hours to myself. We are not a family made to spend 24 hours a day together so break was nice.
2. Started a sort out of my clothes. Filled two big bags for the charity shop. Also filled a bag for the bin. Will clear more tomorrow.
3. Lovely neighbour moving OHs van for me when he phoned up panicking about the weather and loose roof tiles. Even though told him weather wasn't that bad here it was easier to get it moved, I don't drive so would have been a real disaster if I had moved it. Turned out neighbour also does roof repairs and said the work we need doing should just repointing some of the tiles rather than taking off and redoing so OH is going to talk to him tomorrow. Hopefully it will stop him stressing so much about it.
4. Went with DD to buy a clothes rail for her room that she wanted to buy. The shop we went to is not in a very nice area but we just bought what we needed and got out of there. We were laughing and joking though so all good.
5. Tasty fakeaway curry for dinner, cheated and used an Aldi jar of sauce as I just can't seem to get HM curry sauce right. The Aldo sauce is very good though and works out much cheaper that a takeaway.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
DfV, thanks for the dinosaur joke. Big groan from DS2 when I told it to him.:D
DD, Vere Hodgson talks about the bombing all around her in London in the way we talk about the weather at the moment. It's there, it's happening, it's a nuisance, sometimes it is very disruptive to normal life but we just get on with it. Puts our current lives very much into perspective. Makes me very grateful for living in peacetime England.
Sparrer, I shall think of you tomorrow. Hope all goes well, quickly and comfortably.
Five pleasures for Monday:
1. Appreciating the last evening of Christmas tree lights. All decorations get taken down tomorrow in our house.
2. Have continued clearing and tidying the kitchen cupboards with bits of voluntary help from DSs who can see that this is making so much sense. I am writing a gigantic 'restock the stores' list ready for a big shop - very satisfying. I've also started a bag to take to the food bank - things we have been given but can't eat due to allergies - all still in date.
3. I'm sleeping under blankets (with dressing gown on top for added warmth) rather than a duvet at the moment - haven't done this for nearly 50 years! It's lovely. I think I sleep better with the increased weight of the bedding. Am going to have to work out how to get (or make) an old fashionedy eiderdown next.
4. Unexpected trip to visit my parents this evening because their landline stopped working at lunchtime and mobiles don't work in their flat. It was a bit worrying because they are still not better, although my dad did walk to the shops today, but we sorted the phone out and it was really good to see them. Have agreed to visit properly in a couple of days.
5. Made a very nice hot chocolate with the chocolate spoon that I got as a Christmas tree present.;)
Sweet dreams.

Thank you once again for your good wishes and kind thoughts. Went to bed but got up as I couldn't sleep, because I'm hungry!!! But know it's all in my mind. I'm so used to helping myself to a satsuma, a few almonds or perhaps a banana when I pass the fruit bowl in the middle of the dining table that I've had to put it in a cupboard out of temptations way
. I have a large chicken noodle curry in the sc ready for when I get home tomorrow evening, although I'll probably still be too woozy to remember it
ampersand it's really not recommended, I assure you!
Take care, hugs and sweet dreams0 -
Still up, sparrer - trying to clear backlog. Thermos is beside bed, enough left in kettle for yours if you like.:D
It's already next year tomorrow.
You'll be back with us safe and sound by then. Yang, too.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Hello,
Lots of pleasures to report~ we have been staying with friends for a few days and as they are in the middle of nowhere! our only expenses were the food and drinks that we took with us. We just had a lovely simple time catching up on chat and reading.
Today I am pleased to be restoring the house to rights after the fun of Christmas and Boxing Day entertaining. Enjoying looking at my gifts properly and starting to use them.
First shopping since the 23rd and as we still have lots left over it will be very small.
Visiting niece for her 11th birthday this afternoon.
Did my own hair colour last night, it is rather dark but will quickly fade.
New Year party tonight and I am saving the double taxi fare and thick head the next day by driving.
This afternoon I will be making some of my own laundry liquid for the first time in ages.
Oh is back at work for the first time in a week and I am enjoying a little bit of space....
Happy new year!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0
