Isis certainly does - she's one of the sulkiest cats I've ever come across!
Talking of Isis, this furry face might look familiar to regular readers, although the description is rather at odds with the sulky creature currently sharing my flat!Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
Chicken - yes, I am thinking of new year resolutions. I like DDs 8 things list, one of mine is to do everything five minutes earlier than I think I can get away with. Then there is that stone I need to lose.. << sigh>> house full of tall people? I am the short ar*e in my family. The shortest of my siblings and the shortest of my own family - and I am 5'7"
CCP that cat is punishing you for going, just like a child would
VickyA so sorry to hear about your grandmother
Ampersand heir to the throne gravy?
DD I have a few restaurant / shop recommendations in Colombo if you are interested. Can PM them if you like. Deeply jealous..
Frith, curry sounds inspired and yummy
Mhags, bless you for your doggy post
Broomstick, hope you feeling better
Skint, welcome back. It's good to let others do the work, for a change (says she shoes DD is cooking dinner ATM)
DfV not sure i inderstood a word (pigs? Bin bags? Pants?) but it sounds like fun
Tealady, could your DD have a word with mine please?

Have a good evening folksI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
ccp- hard to credit you writing this: 'I'll never understand cats.' You know NO Royal Felinesse exists to be understood. You know NO 2-foot is fit for such honour.
1. Beautiful yellow thing day, all day:-)
2. Suddenly decided on Church, as I heard bells ringing through village and realised I was hearing them. A bit Betjeman. Glad I did. Vicar's girls are laying again. A nice dozen eggs here now.
3. Used new bag. Can tell friend 5 people commented on how lovely it was.
4. More leccie outages. Is this what's meaning still no success with NZ comms?
5. Boycott is sound and sensible. So is Jonathan Agnew. So is Ed Smith[as befits a Double First] So is Jim Maxwell. So is Vic Marks. Some of the team, most of the Board are not. Anything that has T Lamb in the mix is not my idea of upright in aspect, any code. Suspect bop will remember 1998. Plus ça change...

Make money for Xmas challenge 2014 £0/£2700 -
Evening all! :hello:
DH and I hit the sales today and came back with........ a top for the niece's birthday present in February. And that's it! We were looking at new coffee machines (we have John Lewis vouchers) but got so confused that we will do further research. None were on a really good offer, so we didn't feel too bad about walking away with John Lewis vouchers intact!
So, my pleasures for today:
1) Listed a book for sale on Amazon. I keep checking my e-mails, but suspect that people won't be snapping it up immediately.
2) Spoke to my best/longest friend. Great to catch up and we're planning a treat for our birthdays in 2014 eg afternoon tea somewhere nice!
3) Discovered I had enough Maximiles points for another £50 worth of John Lewis vouchers. So, I've duly ordered them. Despite having been in our house for 4 years, we're still part way through getting "bits" for rooms especially in the bathroom.
4) Writing a quiz for friends on New Year's Eve. DH and I have been asked to come up with a quiz about 2013. So, we have 12 questions for 12 months..... Just need to find a prize now!
5) Spending time with DH. Yes, he's been playing Sudokubut it's just been lovely to have time together - out shopping, chatting over lunch etc. Completely priceless. (He doesn't know I'm writing that.
He might get big headed. :rotfl: )

Hello, we are just in having been out all day.
Church this morning was a 9 lesson and carol format and was just lovely, hugs and chit chats at the end...no mince pies but biscuits!
Quick walk around shops for a mooch around the sales.bought school tights for girls and some more M&S Christmas cards. Bought me a dress.
Then up to mums to say hello then on to oldest friends for the afternoon. Kids and I walked round and went past our house. OH drive round but he also drove up past old house!
Had the loveliest time with friends. We laughed and laughed so much . Reminisced and had a lovely dinner. Seems like we've never been away and just slot back into each other's lives.
Back to the cosy country cottage....this morning I saw a robin, blue tits, blackbirds and chaffinches. Stood quite happily looking out the window.
Now getting very sleepy and another busy day ahead tomorrow , so I shall say night0 -
ampers i am suitably chastised. Though have followed many of your linkums to radio 4 comedies

So first of next xmas opera clues done (no i've never heard of an opera called the lighthouse either). Next knitting project is hoooooooooge. Doing a blanket for dd2 with a dr who theme. Reckon i just need to knit 63 'squares' and sew them together. How cool is this? http://holynarfcrafts.wikispaces.com/Doctor+Who+The+Angels+Have+The+Blue+Box+Dishcloth (don't blink!) so for today...
1) woken early by the pups. Walked then then did an hour of marking
2) brisk walk to church and mpdm, spotting me outside the uni got off early to walk down with me (so we were both late oops)
3) lovely service though friend off ill with kidney infection. Get well soon gs!
4) dm came home for lunch then went to hers for circular needles (which she couldnt find) and mulled wine (which she could nom nom)
5) now cooking traditional roast beef dinner. Dogs asleep, dd1 teaching xoh to knit, dd drinking wine from hamper. All is well with the world xMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Now I feel bad, dd. I just meant you might find a moment to decide whether or not they're for you.
9. I've just loved that AR and instantly saw Father Jamie as a like portrait, strong, in the van Dyck style - jolly, inner-lit. rubicund face of character.
10. Ate entire punnet of those luscious, slightly crunchy, red seedless grapes while watching.- another 10p rtc,[Have 3 more]
11. Reading all those CPL 'new home' success stories. Big Thankyou, ccp.
...which totals 220% of lots of 5, so that can be that.

vjm - every bit of understanding to your sil.
How's bagpuss? lisakay? - just found myself wondering.
camollie - just read your 'sleeping through' bit and reckoned up your 21 months without. Well done! One of your best crimbo pressies? I promise you it all slips into history quick as...:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Evening
VJsmum - the only reason DD is having a clear out is because you could no longer see the floor
Pleasures for today,
1. Tea and bacon sandwich this morning. Bacon bought on SO yesterday.
2. Very very lazy day must get myself in gear tomorrow
3. Pasta bolognaise for dinner using some HM frozen tomato sauce
4. Reading everyones pleasures, they do make me smile
that's it for today but as not done anything that's fine0 -
Tealady, I agree with your #4 wholeheartedly. This thread is sometimes extra lovely and it makes me grin (like it has done tonight).:D
Five additional pleasures for Sunday:
1. Am reading 'Few Eggs and No Oranges: the Diaries of Vere Hodgson 1940-45'. It's the wartime writings of a woman who lived and worked in Notting Hill through the Blitz. Loving it and, because it's in diary format, it's easy to pick up and put down.
2. Am making good headway with sorting out the food stores in the kitchen ready to do a big new stock up.
3. Long and productive chat with DS1 about ideas for the training courses he's planning for the new year.
4. I think I'm out the other side of the sore throat/tiredness bug now and my parents who've been really poorly with it are at last sounding a little bit more chirpy on the phone. They are apparently both eating again which helps.
5. Next door neighbour has returned and is very laid back about the fence panels having collapsed and when everything should get fixed. He was more chatty than I've ever known since we've been here so obviously had a good Christmas! We've agreed not to bother with trying to get it sorted until the storms have settled for a longer spell so are keeping our fingers crossed that the temporary mend keeps holding.
Sweet dreams
