  • VickyA - I can follow a recipe (often miles!) but the takeaway boxes will be trickier...!
BoP - if we didn't laugh, we'd cry & if we didn't cry, we'd spit. Or so I learned. Happily with a houseful of chaps I can usually find a laugh... Herself gets the victory?! And BiL a chuckle? Toad. Have a thick juicy Spong-ed-Angus-burger & a mind-how-you-lift-it wobbleade! Who'd trust a skinny cook, anyway?!
VJsmum - I'm charmed - I think he's one of the most unobtrusively very intelligent blokes on TV! Oooh - tea in bed! I rate the MoF rather low, not bring of the faith, but it's well signed & a good learning space for the young.
Ampersand - hurrah - we're recognised! (The local store staff seem to quite like me - I keep asking for temporary cards & recruiting more people to the loyalty scheme.) Bloodhounding only sounds innocuous until I consider the potential subject. No warnings - just a firm grip...
Frith - is ex blind he can't see the rash? Or fe!kless? Not quite sure if Poppins a treat or warning. Bond!
DD - stash sorting an act of virtue. The love is never lost, nor wasted. Marking?! Ah - in order to escape future stress. Weeping Angels spectacularly scary as them blighters are Everywhere!
Tealady - "we are not a family made to spend 24 hours a day together" - yes! Someone else has said it! Bless you! Moving vehicles to calm others, oh yes... Why does "fakeaway" sound so pejorative? Curious...
Broomstick - son *loves* a good groan. Hence passion for puns. We've a sort & restock to do, but it'll have to wait til the car's insured! Eiderdowns were converted to duvets by some dry cleaners - I'd ask CS staff if they've "policies" & if they could keep an eye for me?!
Sparrer - keep drinking! It isn't At All the same as biting down on something but at least it's only a few more hours. Heck of a way to see New Year in!
Teacher2b - isn't it good to hear from family even when briefly apart?
camNolliesMUMMY - they're learning to sleep and you're practising for tonight (deffo the flask!) Have a splendid night out & leave a sandwich by the water - that way you can take ibuprofen (which locks onto alcohol molecules & alerts your immune system as well as being a good painkiller With Food...)

    OS pleasures
A lucky charm from Armenia has arrived! With the suggestion I may eBay it, but that it comes with love. Since that's not available even at reputable stores, I shall keep my lucky charm as is!

As I move from one fuel supplier to another I have not one but two estimates as to how much fuel I used (despite supplying readings) with (inevitably) decreasing repayments. The OS pleasure is that there will be Something coming back to help insure the car...

Brushed out hair. Past waist, I think past hip (dashed hard to tell!) but not quite tailbone. It's slow growing & too thin to donate, but a serious source of satisfaction.

Listening to the rain hammering on the roof & seeing the beams stay the same colour. Last year, the roof was not as waterproof.

Counting pills & realising only two & a half more days to go on these antibiotics!

Big hugs to all who need them, somewhere safe & quiet amidst the whoopee of the night for fourpaws & non-participating twopaws & may your brollies be transparent so you can see the fun but stay dry!
  • Good evening all !

    BoP -
    well done you :j

    DfV
    - not many more to go then on the old antibiotic front !

VJsmum- the law is the law as far as Yum pies go;)

    1) Make that 85 NSDs for this year - the weather has been so unpleasant today that I couldn't face going out in it. :money:

    2) Have managed to put together a mini buffet-type meal for myself for this evening from stuff I already have, including some HM sausage rolls which will win no prizes for appearance but which taste .

    3) Spent a couple of hours wading through a load of competitions online - fingers crossed I win something from that little lot!

    4) I think Isis has now fully forgiven me for abandoning her - when I went in the bedroom earlier she barely opened an eye to acknowledge my presence, rather than running away as she has been doing.

    5) Did a bit more studying so I am now pretty much caught up to where I should be, as there was less outstanding than I had thought.

Have a great NYE, everyone, and stay safe and warm whether you are outside or in.
Back after a very long break!
  • Chicken - pity we aint closer or we could compare scars over a cuppa!
VJSmum - I didn't transfer the date, I think its etched. But, tomorrow is another year:D and it WILL be better!
    1. Read 2 more books..ah thrillers:)
    2. Mommy lady called and we talked about 'rabbits' and she looked online and nearly wet herself:shocked:
    3. Nurse Amy:)

    5. My mate is going out tonight, he's 63, his wife died in march, and he pulled the last time he went out but is so shy he didn't notice!! The pleasure is reminding him to take a pen so when she tells him her number he can write it down!!!
Big love all round xx have a great end of year celebration..even if its asleep like me!

    Evening all.

Am posting a bit earlier because, as usual, I'm not out partying tonight and I wanted to let you know that I will be lighting a candle and having a 'think' over midnight in the ten minutes or so from the old and into the new year - remembering people who are not with us any more and wishing billions of good thoughts for everyone who is with us for 2014. If you want to join me that would be lovely.

    Five pleasures for Tuesday:

    1. Began the day by making a cup of real coffee and taking it back to bed to read. This could easily become a habit.:)

    2. Spent ages watching a pigeon who was struggling to balance on our fence in the rain while letting the very windy weather blow one wing right up into the air. After a while I thought it must have been injured but then it hopped round to face the other way and did the same with the other wing. I think it was having a shower and a blow dry! :rotfl:

    3. Went out shopping and did a massive stock up of tins and stuff for the freezer. The cupboards are starting to look very abundant. It will take another week in dribs and drabs to get the rest of the food, non-food and car supplies sorted I reckon but then, I think, we will be well prepared for difficulties/grotty weather/illness etc (fingers crossed).

    4. Bought three boxes of 80 organic tea bags (two Mr S and the only Clipper one on the shelf which happened to be reduced). When I got home I took the competition code off the Clipper box and it turns out I've won a voucher for another box of 80 tea bags. We will not be going short of tea!:T

    5. Bought a £4 pot of hyacinths from W8rz that I'm going to nurture into bloom then give to my mum. Got my freebie coffee at the same time. :D

Have a good evening. Will be back to light a candle at about 10 to midnight.

Silly w8flower women - don't they realise it's run by people they'd consider 'beneath' them in the street, yet they still flock there because they think it's superior to the other big sm's? Mixed up or what? Ho hum...

Still a bit woozy but have had a long sleep this evening, and a small bowl of chicken curry which I made last night. The smell was so tantalising, even at 6am this morning! Put lots of turmeric in, it's even stained the wooden spoon so had better help the arthritics - will report in a day or so. Results of the day's events will be about a week, not too concerned as at least the surgeon didn't keep me in as he did one poor lady.

    1 NHS. Thank you
    2. Dear friend who has given up 2 days out of the last 5 for me. Thank you
    3. All the lovely messages and phone calls from my family and friends. Thank you
    4. All of you who have been such a support not only now but throughout the year. I wonder if you realise how supportive this forum is. Thank you
    5. :money: without you I wouldn't have been able to go to all the places I have, do all the things I wanted, keep my head above water when things got tight. Thankyou.

Big thanks to everyone, have a happy, healthy and safe 2014. God bless S x :)
