No, no - I'm quite sure she IS ruling the roost. That's what cats do, after all!
I spent yesterday evening watching Isis whirlwinding around the flat with her favourite toy ball, which had been missing for some time until I found it under the computer table. There are few better forms of entertainment!
sparrer - good to see you back and not feeling too bad. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your very yellow chicken curry.Back after a very long break!0 -
Happy 2014 to all!
Secret saving squirrel - welcome & congratulations!
Chickenopolis - I've got to the stage where the pills make me feel ick but the tonsils are fine! How's your work phone after colleague dancing in the desks?!
CCP - splendid savings, happy Isis & well done on the studying! A refound toy is loads of fun!
Lovefullshelves - loving the idea of you reminding the 63 year old to take a pen!
Broomstick - lovely idea with the candle! Real coffee & a book to start the day - bliss! Restocked already?!
BoP - stunned to hear. (Is it heresy to say that a day or two at my desk after All My Family seems dashed tempting?!) phew the draw!
Sparrer - dead right the assorted mummies need their pretty little heads examining & hurrah for recovering!
Frith - any lie-in good! Lovely happy party too - well done!
Mhagster - wonderful eavesdropping on your holiday & it sounding so much fun! Glad you enjoy all the little twittering birds too!
Ampersand - may messages flow freely, bringing reassurance, camaraderie, all good things!
VJsmum - 'often I remember', 'think of me often' and 'I often pass beneath it'... Hair thin everywhere hence I coax the length so I can distract! Sea bass - yum!
cAoM - skipping the reception for a good time with the family sounds like best of both worlds!
Skint yet Again - Gaviscon a trad brew on this day - hope you feel better soon & enjoy the new fridge freezer!
OS pleasures recently
Discussing a showgirl in a film:
"she's a bit solid, isn't she?"
"They were - the punters wanted to see the curves from the back."
"So there's me a star at 300 feet"
"Depends on the ammo."
Flounce...
"I'm regretting drinking all my Iron-Bru in one day" (Ah - well, some of the nocturnal stumblings are explained - it was a 2 litre bottle!)
If you would wash a child, bid him empty the condenser tank from the dryer. Lovely clean warm water, easily spilled....
Alternatively, have child wash up. High pressure warm water spatters Everywhere <mopping glasses benignly> & pans may get clean also.
The Wrong vessel to bring water to scrub the floor? Use a funnel...
Observing the emptied tin of celebrations "I wonder if any other family clears them as fast" - well, we're as fast as the staff on a cardio ward.... (http://www.bmj.com/content/347/bmj.f7198)
Listening to son slurping milk from cereal bowl. Reminds me of several noises & occasions, none of 'em appropriate & all entertaining.
Neil Oliver's voice discussing matters sacred over years. (Although some of me is holding out for 'murder' as he gives the word full value without sending the sentence askew...)
Happy New Year! Yellow stuff, fourpaw delights & hwbs all round as needed!0 -
Happy 2014. Had a super time last night - ceilidh followed by evening chez a friend and her long lost bro (she was adopted at birth) She found her bro and another sister via some genealogy site. Very sweet. So for new year

3) big Xmas crosswords
4) still being in my jimjams at 13:45

Happy New Year, another one who agrees that this is a very special place to come to every day.
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. Car full of bags to the charity shop first thing. I know there were some things we could ebay but decided we just needed to clear things plus happy went to Cancer Research.
2. Breakfast out with OH and the young boy behind the counter calling me babe. I was laughing so much as got in the car, thinks he needed to go to specsavers.
3. NHS, DD fell and injured her wrist so a trip to the Walk in centre was called for. We were seen really quickly and thankfully she has just badly bruised it no breakages.
4. Dinner didn't get cooked as planned due to above so just did some bits and bobs from the freezer which was pleasant enough.
5. Because of trip to the hospital we decided to stay at home. Played silly board games and shared a bottle of wine and watched the fire works going off around us. Very pleasant evening was had by all.
Hope everyone has a healthy and OS new year0 -
1 had a lie in with dh and chatting.
2 put gammon in sc cola and glazed it, having it with crispy roast potatoes n veg.
3 ate leftover pizza for lunch.
4 put Xmas decs away. Left baubles n lights on the tree so I don't have to do much next year.
5 curled my hair even though I'm not going anywhere to feel less mumsy.
6 put more toys away and tidied front room and vacuumed.
7 about to paint my nails, managed to find a Sally Hansen dry kwik nail colour dryer for £1.99 in b&m. It's meant to dry the polish you've put on in 1 minute to stop smudging so here goes lol.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

Make money for Xmas challenge 2014 £0/£2700 -
1) Lie-in - the last one for a few days as I'm back at work tomorrow.
2) Despite a lot of wind and rain the water has mostly stayed outside my flat, which is a relief.
3) Spent a chunk of the day entering more competitions. I must have entered a couple of hundred comps over the past few weeks - surely I must win something from that lot?
4) Reading a very silly, but rather entertaining, free book on my kindle.
5) Some of my grandmother's HM Christmas pudding to eat later. :drool:Back after a very long break!0 -
 Happy New Year to everyone!
I've been trying to come up with new year resolutions, but they're pretty much the same as the ones I tried to keep up with last year. I'm going to try a little harder in 2014 as 2013 just turned into me stumbling from one day to another. That's why I found my way back onto here, trying to find my way again.
My pleasures for the past couple of days:
1) Seeing the new year in with friends. Just a small party of 6 people, but we each took some food along, a bit of booze and a round of a quiz. A thoroughly enjoyable evening! :j
2) Written a long list of things to do and I'm actually getting through them again. Feeling proud of myself on that front.
3) Booked my flight to see my friend who is currently staying in Aberdeenshire with her parents. 1st Feb it'll be Scotland here I come!!! :T So pleased I collect Avios points! I wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise as rail tickets were £130 . I'm genuinely quite emotional about this as my friends are very important and I was trying to figure out how I could get to see her.
4) Parcel all sorted full of "English" things for my Canadian cousin. Vital things in there like Cadbury's Flake, which she gorged on when she visited a couple of years ago!
5) Bought some Christmas cards in the Cancer Research shop sale for Christmas 2014. :j :j Again, quite delighted at this!
6) Watching Agatha Christie's Marple on the ITV Player.
Right, time to crack on with that long list of mine!

Good evening all !
VJsmum -Re Chinese food - is it the msg or salt then that makes you ill? It's a real shame !. Champagne still intact..
DfV- glad to hear that your throat is better x Phone ok after being stood on
Sparrer - I hope all is well with your results
LfS- shame !! It would be fab to have a natter over a cuppa comparing scars .
a few from last night
1. Chinese eaten by 7pm .. I was asleep by 8pm (!) Sparko no alcohol needed.
2. Woke up to Hot Fuzz on tv as missed the film OH had downloaded- which I think is so funny . Stayed awake and just missed Sparrer and Broomstick lighting their candles when I logged on:(
6 for today
1. Let the hens out at 7am ( a lie in for them and me!)
2.Found two hot eggs in their nesting box when I let them out. from their hot botts.
3. Rained so I hard I told OH he could do the food shopping on his own. Just bits and bobs to get , which he did using vouchers too.
4. Made celeriac and parsnip bake as using up fridge stuff . It was lovely and OH said it was nice with the lamb that he had and would be nice with venison.
5.OH wastes bread (a REAL pet hate of mine )-and only has a couple of slices from a freshly baked loaf . Blitzed the leftover bread for breadcrumbs used in the above and the rest has been frozen.
6. Half hour on exercise bike
Not a pleasure. Many years ago I worked for a racehorse trainer who was quite an older gentleman then and he passed away some years back. His son who is now in his 70's who I used to see every day in the yard has gone missing . I saw it on our local news yesterday and I hope that he is found safe and well soon and I know his family will be going through hell.:(:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Happy new year to everyone!
