Frith - one of my faves français is remoulade. Here's a beeb version, untried, but looks about right.
    http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1597/quick-celeriac-remoulade

I also note, lrhs, celeriac champ, which I'd tweak to incorporate some kale.
Lucky you, that no-one else eats mushrooms:-)

You do need a log, if only in diarised form which is ccp-able. This is not 'starting something'. Simple letter[and we know you write these well], pics, concern/insurance/children etc in a Statement of Facts way. You have enough to deal with generally, also with other Hellboys+Mother neighbour.
Frith is being a Good Neighbour.
In short, which I could have been in one word:
    ' - shall I [STRIKE]say[/STRIKE] DO something? ' YES.

Great minds, chicken. I'd be surprised if any one of us demurs.

We'll I didn't quite stay awake to post my pleasures of ne'er day.
Today is my penultimate day in Scotland and we have so much to do and still people to try and see. Need to make a start on packing and tidying up ( not that messy though!) cottage.

Yesterday we had a lazyish start to the day and had slice sausage for breakfast .....honestly we don't eat that much in real everyday life but we're on our holidays! , then piled in the car to go to 'our woods' , we would have walked there most days in our previous life ! I had a wee tear in my eyes as we walked past our river, with our squirrels and our castle. We all miss this place, was a big part of my childhood and most certainly all of my children's lives. Many photos taken and fresh air inhaled to remember for another year.

Up to MILs for lunch. SIL and niece and her boyfriend were joining us there. MIL had made soup and peeled the spuds, SIl had made a steak pie ( traditional food on NYD) , I had made a lasagne ...not traditional but very nice and we had 9 of us to feed! , then a lovely pudding. Stuffed!

We played jenga and it was funny watching my almost grown up kids play with their grown up cousin and then me, OH and SIL played...I did not win.

Then I popped round to friends house to see her for the last time and say goodbye to my favourite 6 year old. Friends mum and dad were there so I was glad to catch up with them too. The visit home always just flies by and at the start you hope to see so many people and do this and that but time and jetlag get in the way.....ah well maybe next time! whenever that will be!

Home to the cosy country cottage and I managed to eat a profiterole ....I will be the size of a bus when I get back and my summer clothes may not be as forgiving as my winter clothes are....think layers and big jumpers!
However , I have enjoyed every bite of food I have eaten since I've been home! I've eaten all the things I wanted too( probably a lot more too) the things I think of nostalgically that I can't get in Australia. So I'm looking forward to salads and stir fries by next week!

Have a lovely day...we have primarche first on the agenda as girls want to have a mooch and spend some pounds!

    Morning all.

Another day, another train. DDs first audition today. She will either be out at lunchtime - not good but we will go to the theatre, or out at tea time when we will see if they want her for a second audition. We don't know at all what to expect. It's a shame that this one is her second choice, would have been better if her first audition could have been somewhere she isn't bothered about. So, Central School of speech and Drama, here we come. Keep fingers crossed. I have either a morning or a whole day to kill, I have marking with me though.

    Safe travels Mhags

Frith, you should cover yourself with the letter as has been suggested
DD diet was kind of starting on Monday, but it's hard when you have stuff left. Taken it a bit easier anyway - tummy made me

    Yesterday's pleasures

1 bit of a lie in and the morning marking. The pleasure is that I am Slowly getting through it
2 horrible weather meant the furthest out I went was to the bin :p
3 the sound of music while cleaning and tidying kitchen, and cleaning bathrooms. Best pleasure was that children did hoovering. Also used up ageing fruit in a fruit salad and two crumbles
4 OH cooked curry for tea. We thought about a takeaway but he used an Aldi balti sauce and it was just as good
    5 Sherlock :T

    Morning everyone!

1 got up and practically dragged my knuckles along with me to the kitchen to make myself a coffee this morning. I only drank half a bottle of wine last night, il be 28 at the end of this month and I'm getting shocking hangovers from half a bottle of wine?!!!!

2 back on my easy diet today which consist of porridge or weetabix for brekkie, soup for lunch and one slice of bread. As much coffee as I want with sweeteners or sugar free squash and a home cooked meal for tea from scratch. No wine till fri and sat night. Protein shakes after I've been to the gym.

3 had a shower and bathed the kids this morning, I had to practically chase them and put them in myself the little monkeys.

4 s&s kitchen and bathroom whilst ds1 watches lord of the rings and ds2 plays with his train set.

5 will do a general tidy up then go put air in my tyres and take the kids to the free farm in the next town.

6 BBQ chicken tonight so il get some chicken out of the freezer and put in roasting tin with the sauce and put it in the fridge to marinate whilst we are out, ready to go straight in the oven.
I will be making it from ingredients I have in (ketchup etc) with cheese ontop, homemade chips and some sweetcorn.

Have a good day all. :)

  • DD Not talking to ... We were top last new Year and ....
    Mushroom on toast. incredible

Made it back, and no sprouts were damaged during the end of play either. Xmas spirit gone and the salt mine looks like a morgue.

    Situation normal.
    Happy days

5 Raffles has been flexing his muscles and has managed to leap from the TV table to the top shelf. The piggery. Not real pigs, but collectable ones. Don’t ask why, but think hairy beasts. And you got it. Going to keep up a grisly look and a hugger for the New Year. He still in flash eye and brush mode with Ms BoPsie. One wink and food is provided. Easy!

4 Beard rubs to all that need them

3 First |Scrabble of the year, and a trouncing it was. Cannot believe that I finished two years on the trot, nearly losing four games on the bounce. It can never happen again.

2 Mince Pies gone, Two jam tarts left, short bread. All homemade, not that emporium carp that some have. Pity the tubs of pate are not on offer. Saw some recently, £9 for a tub. Wonder how much was wasted. I normally get some about every two months, on the counted at W8rz
