Had a day of emergencies. Emergency 1 - newsletter - done. Emergency 2 - posters - 1 done. Emergency 3 - too funny for words. Some senior lecturers can be right prima donnas! I say no more but honestly we all work for the same institution. Don't we? (rhetorical)

Goodness, it must be the end of term.... No? I'm so tired!

I've received a couple of gifts from my class for Christmas. So incredibly kind of them but I'm only doing my job! :o I do accept the gifts graciously. :)

    My 5 for today:

    1) Started wrapping the presents for my mum and dad (and DH, but don't tell him that! :D)

    2) Feeling virtuous as I got home and sorted out loads of recycling. Need to ensure the bin goes out this week as it's pretty full! :o

    3) Found a Christmas gift bag I'd forgotten about, but had bought in a sale a couple of years ago. Duly being used for a friend's present. :D

    4) Trying to decide where to spend my Travelzoo voucher on. I won £20 credit the other week and it's burning a hole in my mind. Hmmmm......

    5) Splashed the cash and am sending my parents a Moonpig card for Christmas. Well, I had some credit in my account anyway.

    Evening all.

Because of the trillion recommendations for this week's ISIHAC I've had it on in the background while I've been reading this thread. Double pleasure!

Frith, I love hearing about your youngest's achievements. Like DD, I want to be in the Gold Zone too. :D And I think you should give 'K' a photo of you so, if the bullies try it again when you are not around, he can produce the picture to scare them off (in the nicest possible way! :D).

    My five for Tuesday:

    1. [STRIKE]Accidentally[/STRIKE] :o ate the little bar of chocolate I'd bought to add to my presents on the Xmas tree. Will have to buy another - oh dear. Have been very disciplined and not eaten any of the little Xmas treats bought for the DSs (yet:D).

    2. Haven't yet spoken on the phone to bestmost friend who was in hospital for tests because he's still feeling rotten but I'm really glad I've been in text contact at least.

    3. Lovely big veggie box order today. I've unpacked it all over the kitchen table so I can meal plan the eating of it all before I put it away. It looks like a cook book illustration - really colourful and beautiful.

    4. They deserve a whole mention of their own but the clementines arrived with their leaves on. :D They are scrumptious.

    5. Fun episode of the Choir.

    Sweet dreams

    OOoo, some more pleasures!

    9) Smaller son made me a Christmas card at school with a design on the front made with glued on buttons. (More artistic than it sounds!) He also made one for bigger son. :-)

    10) Bigger son came home with his report which is OK in everything but then just a bit mad for Creative Arts! He got a 7b (he's in year 8) and an Outstanding! (The only outstanding as the effort given to everything else is Satisfactory or Good....)

    11) I am now the best mummy in the world again after mentioning casually that we are having special fried rice and duck pancakes for tea tomorrow (duck half price at Sainsburys).

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1. postie brought me an envelope with some coins sellotaped between two layers of cardboard. Although the address was hand written I don't recognise the writing, the stamp wasn't franked so mo postmark (stamp already soaked off and put in the little bag with the others and a glue stick :o) and not a word written on the cardboard. It remains a mystery
    2. been taken off one of the anti-inflamatories as it can cause stomach bleeding (!) so adding turmeric which is said to be good for arthritis. Made a yummy lentil and turmeric soup this evening, had to test it of course and it's very morish. Will wait to see if it works, I hope so as my hands don't work til I've soaked them in warm water in the mornings. A very OS remedy ;)
    3. a get-together this evening for the friend who's emigrating, I couldn't stay long as I'm on call this evening but was good to get the chance to see her for a short while. Next time will be Saturday when we wave her off at the airport
    4. Derren Brown, not seen him before but there was little else on. Very clever, too clever for me when he started to tell how he did a certain thing with figures, left me behind completely but interesting to watch
    5. 50p (half) hair dye and gave myself a trim. Looks and feels much better

    Sweet dreams :)

"Tomorrow , tomorrow , I love ya tomorrow you're only a day away"

    But for today :)

Sunshine dried all the kids bed linen in no time....we shall come back to clean sheets.

Gardened in the sun....enjoyed the heat on my back....then it got too hot!

Chatted with my neighbour across the road, they will pull my bins in and collect my mail!

Chat with mum and friend.....next ones in the flesh:)

Ex colleague has been sacked/ resigned she's not quite sure which but she phoned me straight away and came in to see me for half hour. She was shocked/ angry/ disbelieving / relieved in equal measures.the owners are two very nasty people and I'm sure they will get what's coming to them at some point. What goes around surely comes around? However she does have a new job lined up ( following my advise when we had lunch 2 weeks ago) . There were 14 of us 14 weeks ago. 0 left! Anyway...not my problem but glad to be a listening ear for her today!

Have a wonderful Wednesday.....next one is Christmas Day!
  • Yesterdays..
1.Having the time to stop and listen to the children singing christmas songs in assembly.
2.Finally finding a place to put up the Chrismas tree (where it normally goes is now a new fish tank).
3.Getting a Christmas card from a child that i never in a million years thought would send me one (had to disipline her a lot).
4.Getting a double veg order as it was clear out day on the market (a friend works there and i get any veg they cant keep till the next one free :j) and realising i wont need any now till after Christmas.
    5. Going to do the washing and finding my DD had already done it and dried it and put it away ( love her)

So a good day in all x
    Bright Blessings xx

Shameless touting for virtual cake alert.

Today 2 numbers click over on my own personal age calendar and, even if I want to forget how old I am, no one is going to let me. So

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY TO ME :bdaycake:_party_:beer:

I have been thoroughly spoilt already, loads of pressies, coffee and chocolate in bed. OH doing school, run while I have a bath. Then we off out for the day. Posh meal this evening, then away for weekend.

    Pleasures for yesterday

1 loads of inspiration in a lesser used shop means I think I'm done pressie wise.
2 DS made another cake  Victoria sponge, it's lovely.
3 cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Not a pleasure but its done. Started around 12, finished at 10.30. There was a lot of tidying, sorting, decorations along the way.
4 listening to and watching stuff as I went. Probably why it took so long. Caught up with monastery farms, woman's hour, ISIHAC, archers.
5 rebate from cleaning co. as cleaner is off sick. Unexpected bonus and goes towards tonight's posh meal.

Have a lovely day all and safe travels, Mhagster
I wanna be in the room where it happens
