Can I add 6 &7 lol
6 Mum popped round earlier and we were talking about freezing stuff. I mentioned I had some sorry looking spuds I needed to blanch for chips or wedges. She said she always chops them pops them in a ziplock bag along with oil and seasoning of her choice even for chips shakes and makes sure they are all coated and freezes them Straight away and that they do not go black. So I've given it a go.
7 had a chicken breast in the fridge as in the week I bought 5kg from makro like I normally do and couldn't fit a few in the freezer. Today their is a little space in their. So I found a recipe for chicken nuggets.
Cut chicken into pieces dip in milk and then coat in a mixture of crushed cornflakes, 1/2tsp garlic salt, 1/2tsp cracked black pepper and 1 tsp of paprika and 1tsp of mixed herbs. I put the mixture into a ziplock bag and chucked the chicken and did a shake and put straight into the freezer for the kids chicken nuggets mid week.
Think il buy chicken thighs on my next visit to makro and do this for them in future and make some chicken kievs for me and dh.Ds2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

early post tonight cos off for carols in the pub at 8 - i'm on accordion and singing the verses for gaudete (one of my faves)
1) xoh came with me to cathedral. had funny convo a couple of weeks ago with a transwoman at cathedral. I was giving her advice that she was a bit suspect of so everntually she said 'and how many trans women have you known' to which i responded 'i'm married to one' you have never seen anyone's body language change so quick! so she asked if she could meet xoh and xoh very kindly offered to go to the service with me. In a way bit weird cos cathedral is defo my space, but in another nice cos in some ways we're still best friends
2) i helped out with sunday school as rota'd 2nd was ill. nice to be just helping rather than leading
3) a gang of us went for lunch after. not very mse but good fun and very nice food
4) we drove half way to cathedral as running late (xoh glamming up rofl) and happened to be parked just round the corner from lunch pub. was raining when we got out and xoh went got the car
5) now sitting in candle-lit front room introducing xoh to the joys of Hebben. The heating is off but the gas fire is on pandering to both my mse os frame of mind and my liking for a bit of heatthe dogs can't understand how it can't be 7 o'clock since it's dark (their supper time). happy Gaude Sunday everyone. x

frogs eaten: 100 -
1) Rather naughtily had one too many glasses of wine while watching a DVD last night, but somehow got away without a headache this morning.
2) NSD and NPD.
3) My sister has wisely decided she won't be coming to the Christmas horse show on Friday. I know that sounds mean but it's a real relief - I know how much she was looking forward to it and was worried she would insist on going even though she's clearly too ill to be anywhere except in bed, so I'm pleased she's reached the same decision. We can always go again next year when she's better.
4) Got my Secret Santa present for work all wrapped up while Isis was asleep on the bed.
5) Raining hard here, too, and so far it's all staying outside so it looks like the repair carried out on my roof a few weeks ago did the trick. :T
camNolliesMUMMY - hope you feel better soon.Back after a very long break!0 -

Glad you had a so good you're stuffed time...
Chickenopolis - Welcome Back! Hallelujah you're back at the laptop, that you've played a blinder at M's & scored all that fuel, that in fox vs. terrier fox almost second & that frog & princess are now in the correct dishes! Love your terrier's priorities - walk now!
CCP - yippee for interview & have you both pre & post Christmas interview garb?! Ah these incredibly-hard-to-buy-for folks... Well done your sis making the sensible but unpleasant decision - holding you & yours in my heart.

OS pleasures this weekend
We've spent a very happy time, Christmas shopping as a family. My favourite bit (& by chance the most OS) was the chaps cuddled up to the Swann Norton scalpel display. All eyes & opinions & no hands - the shopkeeper who knows us wasn't surprised (his son was!) and we have handles & a few very sharp blades....
Watching son 2 illuminate over a game of Saxons - more toy soldiers, (lamentations), but loads more history!
Son #3 venturing into airbrush artwork. Just by chance I have several lovely big cardboard boxes to act as spraying booths!
Amidst all the busy-ness & hurtling around Doing Things of Christmas, my mother has been admirably calming & clear: Christmas is about People, not Things.
A thought I propose to cling to in the coming weeks!
The lad at Games Workshop explained their plastic duffle bags (at 50 pence, much the most affordable item of stock!) are Bags For Life. I'm not quite sure what *they* mean by that, but there will be a duffel in each stocking...
Listening to my mother's pleasure in the Advent snaps I've been emailing. Some have been grandson snaps, some pictures of festive fare (which she seems to think I've cooked), some of decorations (which she thinks we've made) & so on.
Chuckling over a Stilton Saga. I entirely get why the post won't ship explosives & fireworks & pressure vessels, yet they ship Stilton...
Eavesdropping on squad & weapon calculations for the new game, as the brothers want to play too!
Curled up with robustly escapist fantasy: Amelia Peabody & her family...
Great big hugs to all who need them, healing/health/recovery/survival/a gentle end [we've a visiting butterly up in the eaves] where appropriate & Adeste fideles læti triumphantes!0 -
Evening all.
CCP, glad your sister's looking after herself. At least her decision means she's already begun a list of positive things to look forward to next year.
Got my post written and lost it and it was my mistake not the ether this time.So this is a quick re-summary of my five pleasures for Sunday:
1. Mystery soup #2 from the freezer was very tasty. No idea what was in it other than (mostly) organic veg.
2. Listening to podcasts on my little ipod thing.
3. NSD and NPD.
4. Still haven't heard back from the allotment people but [STRIKE]wasted[/STRIKE] spent a productive time this afternoon browsing through seed catalogues. Ten steps ahead of myself given that I don't know if we'll get a plot... oh well, it was fun. :rotfl:
5. Ordered an organic cheese selection from the Vegbox people for Xmas. We don't do much extra/different food so this is a treat.
Sweet dreams

Evening all :hello:
Not the most OS or frugal of days as I headed to London to meet up with the girls I shared a house with at uni. They all live in London and we always (since sharing a house) meet up for lunch at Christmas time, swap presents etc. This year we decided to go for a Secret Santa, instead of buying everyone a present. Not that secret in the end, but everyone was delighted with their lovely little gift.
I'm delighted that others want to do the £2 coin thing for road tax (or whatever you wish to save for). Of course, if you decide that it's not for you then I'll gladly take your stash of £2 coins. :rotfl:
Right, my OS for today:
1) Christmas cards finished. Decided that there'll be no round robin this year. Just need to post them now, at great expense. Anyone got a spare carrier pigeon?
2) Decided NOT to send Christmas cards to my work colleagues. I see them every day so I'll donate a sum to charity. My fantastic TA will get a card, but no one else.
3) DH has cleaned the bathroom and kitchen from top to bottom. Not OS, but surely a pleasure?!
No other OS pleasures as it was an expensive day (not a Pizza Express deal!) BUT it was budgeted for and good to meet up for our 15th annual Christmas meal....Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Had intended to come back last night but such a lot going on. I'm here now though
DD I so agree with you re certain member's posts! it keeps me occupied for some time deciphering the intricacies and meanings. Re quickie/quiche, there's a joke which you may have heard...
mcculloch what an amazing idea, a memory tree. I can just imagine you reminiscing over each and every one of the treasures
mhags and family belated m-Christmas! :santa2: :rudolf: :snow_laug
lfs we'll be seeing your creations in all the stores before long
chicken do be careful, no more accidents now we have you back with us please. The car owners should put flags on those lethal towbars. Cute terrier, my lad loves the car too, and the mog will jump in at every opportunity.
DFV Venite adoremus Dominum. Wonderful. Lad well fed and watered, hugged tight and sent on his way
Yesterday
1. DS & I had a huge brunch, he looked happy and full when he'd cleared his plate (and part of mine)
2. Took both cars to the car wash, DS wouldn't let me pay for mine
3. Went to sainsbugs, when we got home there were four carrier bags, not the three I'd brought home. DS had slipped the extra one in filled with goodies for me including my favourite stinky and specialist cheeses, a variety of olives and a ribeye steak which cost almost as much as I'd pay for groceries for a week! The latter has now been cut into portions for treat meals, the first being NY Eve as I'm on call overnight so I deserve it
4. A silly one but nice anyway, DS put my nectar card through with his shopping so I got the points
5. We had a curry for dinner, I don't have take-aways as a rule but as he was here we treated ourselves. I didn't know he'd ordered on line, and paid for it, til it arrived. Feel thoroughly spoiled not having opened my purse the whole day
Today
1. We had a lovely leisurely breakfast, chatted about all the things we don't get to talk about over the phone, and I'm satisfied that he's generally happy. That's all I ask for my children
2. DS gave me a hamper which he and his OH had put together with EG tea, shortbread, preserves, all sorts of special goodies, and on top was what I'd asked for, a blue or red watch - but there was one of each
3. Sadly had to say goodbye to him late morning, waved him off on his way to visit his dad in Devon. He had a similar hamper for him but with a series of books instead of the watches.
4. Went to meeting then late lunch with friends who cheered me up by being silly and making me laugh.
5. Made arrangements to see our emigrating friend off at Heathrow on Saturday, flags and and an improvised Maori farewell song (Now Is The Hour) will make sure she's pleased to get away!
Wishing all the poorlies well, and everyone sweet dreams0 -
My pleasures for today:
1) A massive lie in!
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) Geocaching! Did 5 new caches locally including one in a churchyard from a church that was demolished in the 1960s. I had heard about it but never found it. Very atmospheric.
4) Made cauliflower/macaroni cheese for tea.
5) Sons came back from their father's. Seems he doesn't want them for a week during the holidays, only for 4 days. Huge relief as both boys had told me they didn't want to stay for more than a few days, and certainly not as long as a week.
6) Got invited to a games night (probably d and d) so sons looking forward to that.
7) Enjoyed watching the Sewing Bee.0 -
sparrer - DS and I were trying to figure out the bag lady hat logo...and ideas and I'll draw it!
chicken - staples bad!! I'm gonna have to take a picture of it now its healed a bit...its not even straight!
DFV - its a tiny circle with pegs that you weave then darn round:)Good cheap embellishments! Gonna have a go with some ribbons next:)
6. had a bath and it wasn't horrible!
7. OH has put up all the shiny thingssplendid:D
2013 NSD 100. CC2014CC- £31.50/£1352014 NSD 86 so far - May 20/212014 G/C spend £741.55 so far May £107.99/£91Debt Free - 30.05.13 Emergency tin - £1000June 23 - 9NSD0 -
sparrer sounds like a lovely weekend with your boy!
frith yes please to holby round up! What happened with mistake made in surgery? Was it Edward? Did he land Mary Claire in it again? Did Digby win his bet? Ta!
LFS does your flower making wooly thing have a name that I can google ?
So , it's tea time, listening to radio 2 & I'm singing as I type....I'm very talented that way! Next Monday will be in Scotland....dentist and friends child for sleepover! Looking forward
Today, woke up early and got up and skyped 2 friends and had a catch up with them.
DD2 phoned me!! So , she went to school in black pumps and black socks....should have been white trainers and white socks, last day of term and slightly flouting school rules. I did ask if it was okay.....obviously 60+ other kids thought it was okay! Deputy head would not let them go on their PAID school excursion ( fun end of term events and activities ) and they had to stay at school! She was not impressed, I did think , oh for goodness sake but well you did know that you should wear correct uniform but it is the blooming last day of school! On the plus side she did come home with an excellent report card.
Went into school to get DD1's exam result. They sit one exam a year early before their final year( like sitting an A level or Higher a year early) she did well and is pleased. She will have a big year next year with lots of reading and homework to be done over the summer holidays !
Did I mention it's the summer holidays....no uniforms for 7 weeks
Christmas is over and done with, back in its boxes with only a few pine needles to prove it was here!
Took a spur of the moment train trip on way back from school with DD1 ( we walked past the station) were going to go for a scone but got off at an earlier station and had a wander and sat in the warm sunmost pleasant!
Watched casualty as I de - Christmased the front room. DS helped me wrestle the tree back in its box.
Friend from Sydney phoned me, which was funny as I was literally just going to call her, sat at front porch in sun and blethered.
Found a brand new glossy magazine left on the train all $12 worth....not much in it and I've read it ( looked at the pictures!) already so that will go to library swap box tomorrow .
All I have to do for dinner is cook pasta as loads of sauce left over from lasagne made on Saturday . Easy peasy will plonk cheese on top and melt down to use up.....on major use up food mode now.....did I mention it's only 3 more sleeps till holiday time
Have a marvellous Monday0
