dd no....instead of getting the stool and climbing up to my baking cupboard...I put my hand in and felt for the bag of corn flour....same colour as bag of bicarbonate. Put a heaped tablespoon in egg white/sugar mix....then put a couple of spoonfuls in pan and topped up with milk to make sauce for lasagne...then went to put back in cupboard and gasped in horror to see it was bicarbonate !

Googled and it said you can put it in meringue....May even enhance it so I took a chance...beautifully piped individual pavlova baskets for supper and a big one for Sunday, popped them in the oven ....watched them rise...and rise . Big one was stuck to the grill rings at top of oven. They were soft not crispy and an utter disappointment ! Straight into the bin and then an oven to clean once it cooled down! The moral of the story is get a stool when you are such a short ar se!

Second attempt was fine though :)

Lovely tree mcculloch it's nice when your decorations mean something and bring back treasured memories.

I think I will pinch the advent gift idea for next year DD I also want to do a photo a day for advent....had thought about it for this year but didn't. I've a friend on Facebook doing it so told her I was vicariously enjoying hers!

Right...parsnips won't peel themselves and carrots and beans need picked from the garden.....!

    1. VickyA, I loved your idea of saving £2 coins for car tax. 'I can do that', I thought. I knew I had two coins in my purse so I went right away to put them in what I thought was an empty savings pot to start my car tax fund for 2014 and found a £20 note that I'd squirreled away and forgotten about. So I put the £2 coins in the pot and the £20 note in my purse for Xmas shopping and it feels as if I've made £16 quite unexpectedly. Thank you! :D or should it be :j ? (You doing star jumps on the trampoline :D)

I'm feeling all embarrassed now. *blushes* :embarasse I bank my £2 coins as soon as I get 10 (£20 worth in a bank bag) and add it to my savings spread sheet. DH thinks it's hilarious how much drooling I do over a £2 coin. And yes, I think it's :j :j as I can do those on the trampoline. Just before I lose my balance..... :rotfl: Good luck with your savings! Big bonus on finding the £20 note.

Oooft! I am stuffed with food.
Just had chicken ( bought already cooked at DDs work and got staff discount) , roast potatoes, roast parsnips (love), mashed carrot and turnip, sprouts( love) and beans from garden and honey roasted carrots from the garden and cranberry sauce.
It is cheaper to buy a pre cooked chook than a fresh one which is a bit crazy.

Then followed by pavlova with strawberries and peaches and cream.

    Chat with mum via skype.

Managed to watch 3/4 of holby on YouTube, not sure what's going on with the uploaders. I read that BBc are trying to stop people uploading onto Internet but not sure how true it is. The person who was uploading casualty appears to have gone away...all the episodes gone. Then watched parts 1-3/4 of holby but part 4 not available so not sure how it ended. But at least I saw most of it.

Has stayed dry and warmish today. Got a bit if veg gardening done and a washing out.....and a couple of rounds of swing ball with OH :)

Have met DS GF! She seems very nice...tried not to make dinner too much of an inquisition. DS won the $10 in the cracker for the second year in a row!

So that's m-early Christmas done! Tree and decs will come down tomorrow or Tuesday ...suitcases will come down on Wednesday :) and next Sunday will be a Scottish one...with church and Marks and Sparks!
It has been very nice making this a special weekend but without the stress and busyness of Christmas. I think there is so much hype and commercialisation and pressure put on families and in reality it probably isn't always achievable. I think spending time with those you want to be with , eating what you want to ( not what the adverts and magazines tell you to) and when you want is important.
In saying that I love the Christmas ads and Christmas magazines and probably seek inspiration from them but know how heavily staged they are and probably very unrealistic. The family time together is the most important part for me....right, stepping off my soap box now!

    Have a super Sunday :)

1 hand washed ds1 pjs as he spilt milk all down them. I did the washing yesterday and I didn't want them smelling sour in the basket till wash day.

2 I've started buying powdered milk 99p, as I love my tea and coffee and getting through milk like knobodys business. But adding 2 tsp a mug it's going down quickly however if I mix 1 pt of water with 4tbsp I get a pint of 1% milk. So I got the used milk bottle out of the recycling and gave it a good wash and made a pint just for me and marked it with my name.

3 put the chicken in my sc on low for later. Dh is working on the house we've bought by relaying the concrete floor in the kitchen so we won't be eating till after 5.

4 me and the boys have had sp spag Bol out of the tin over toast for lunch, nice and easy but fed three of us with one tin. :)

5 washed the pots with a mix of the fairy I had left and filled the bottle with bubble bath lol, as trying to not go to the shops on purchases I don't need as I'm terrible at picking things up I don't need. Last week I fitted a mixer tap shower and knobodys has had a bath since hence plenty of bubble bath ;)

6 I made a face mask this morning as I've had a little outbreak of spots using 1 cup of natural yoghurt and 1/4 cup of honey put the remainder in the fridge and my skint feels great .

I'm full of cold today and a sore throat, so me n the boys are wrapped up with cardi's, joggers n slippers

  • Good afternoon all !

Thank you all for the warm welcome back:D

ampersand - yes! that is the item as my late father would say "it's a big old kiddy " . They seem to have dropped in price .. If I had the room I would have hundreds. Well done re the Mb cufflinks - OH has assorted pens, cufflinks, wallets , aftershave, belts and briefcase of the aforementioned Mb brand. The pens are treat to use. I used to redeem Mr. T vouchers at Golds*iths and save them up for the pens and cufflinks.

CCP- well done you ! :TBest of luck too xx

mhagster - loving your early Christmas :D

VickyA - that £2 coin thing is a really good idea.I might just try that.

LFS - well done DS ! I saw your staples on your homepage -Oh boy that must have hurt :(

    CamNolliesMum- get well now xx

    McC - lovely tree!

    5 for today

    1. Did a PK shopped in L*dl with DM and OH. Got loads for a little (£1.99 for J20) Fell over a tow bar in the car park though  Disaster zone December and all that.

    2. The terrier burst out of DM's front door and jumped straight into the boot of the OGV as we were unloading the shopping from the boot as her "cage" is in there and she thought she was going out.I love her exuberance.

3.Raining hard here .I am glad I did the washing yesterday.

    4. More vouchers for the masses (my very large family) from Mr. M. so more money off petrol vouchers.

5.Have written some Xmas cards to post- after trawling through all my emails to find the addresses.

    6. Fakeaway K. EFF. C for tea tonight

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
  • Get in KK. Brake that mould.
Chicken. I get as much tv as none. Only thing is it is online and no licence fee. Legally. Save money. Better in wobbleades!

    DD Tigress. Ooooooooooooooooooooooooh.

5 Chicken. With jam. You know you should try it. You cannot beat it.

4 With the fluffiest roast tatties ever.

3 And real gravy with onions. And bacon warped Snorkers.

2 And not a sprout in sight. Grate!

1 What is your point? Nearly came out as pint that.
