    Quick pleasures for today:

    1) Sons happy at school.

    2) Went to town to have a cup of tea with my school friend (not the one that comes round on Sunday nights!) and her 2 youngest.

    3) Brother came round to measure the chimney and plan how to mend it. I just held the ladder.

    4) Big tea! I made special fried rice and bigger son made some pastry then made an apple and mincemeat tart and a dozen jam tarts. Following this thread, he made our initials in pastry to go on the apple tart. :-)

    5) Power cut for an hour or so after tea so we played our legendary "Footshrimps" game. I don't know why it is called that. 2 people have to lie in my bed under the quilt and the 3rd has to creep in from the landing and be doing something quite scary when the others come out from under the cover. So my first go I crept in and put the clockwork creepy spider thing on the pillow by them and bigger son for his go stood silently for ages then let out a scary scream!

    6) Enjoyed watching 24 Hours in A and E.

That's about it. Must help smaller son with his Sinter Klaas thing tomorrow as we are exchanging presents this Saturday. We were all set to work on it tonight until the power went off.

    1. A good haul from Mr M this evening with carrots, swede, Cavolo Nero, cauli and WW granary loaf all reduced to 9p, baby spinach 15p, chestnuts and broccoli 25p, and 6 pints milk 30p. Should keep me going for a few days :)
    2. Took Wagalot to meet the dog lady, they're in love with each other and I'll be more than happy to leave him there when I have weekends away. She charges very silly money and the dogs are on sofas rather than concrete :D
    3. Dizziness isn't as bad as it was, so not listing to port (no, not that sort ;)) so often
    4. Appt next week at gastroenterology dept, came through as quickly as the previous 2-week referral, in just a few days. Good old NHS but wish they'd find a cause!
    5. Echo isn't. 'He' is a she called Buffy. DD's sense of humour - full name Spicy Buffalo Wing, because she looks exactly like one at the moment, poor thing :(

Poorlies get well now please, everyone else stay well. Sweet dreams :)

sparrer my mum is a user of NHS at the moment and I for one am very glad it's there , she'd has been treated very quickly and has been shown such kindness from all staff there. Hope you get sorted out soon :)
    kittikins cheat!
frith I used to love creeping up on the kids....still do but they don't fall for it as much! Best was when I ( for reasons known only to myself at the time) climbed up onto the top bunk in DD1 s room and lay very still on her bunk...she got a fright but had the last laugh as I struggled to get back down!
LFSplease ,please ( same as my mum) don't do too much!
    chicken hope you're okay?

Right so summer has briefly let us and returned to winter! It was 36o 2 days ago and it's now 12o. Massive showers and hailstones this afternoon. Normal temperatures will be back by the weekend. Just a bit crazy for this time of year. It's been snowing in the Victorian alps.

    Pleasures:
Waking up early and pottering in a quiet house , listening to the rain and wind. For me a sound of home .
    Chat with mum.
Chat with friend. Being a listening ear for her.

Went into next town with DD1 , she had an annual haircut. Like PK she's got long hair and it's always a big thing to get her hair cut. The hairdresser had long hair though ( not something I've ever thought was important) . We went halfers on haircut!

Lots of the shops have sales on just now, which I think is quite early but they must be trying to grab folk through the doors....suits me! Got a pair of very flat black sandals . Lots of 'thongs' which have the toe bar bit...this bit makes my skin crawl and gives me heebie jeebies. So these are just plain black and flat sandals and cheap as chips :) DD1 bought a pair of jelly shoes for $5... They were $20.

DD1 and I sat and sang and sang Christmas songs this morning....DD2 would have been mortified, DS would not have been interested so I'm thankful for my girl!

A snoozette this afternoon .....woken up by a knock at the door and nice tradesman to fix a hole in my ceiling!

Just so you know. Pavlova made with sweetener does not work! At all! Ever! Oh dear! I'd ran out of sugar and had a jar of sweetener from when I was a low carb queen for all of 2 weeks! It wh skied up lovely, rose in the oven but was like rubber and tasted disgusting ....however the brownies I made were tasty and served with fresh strawbs....in season and cheap :)

Off to make macaroni cheese for tea.
Stay safe in the high winds today.

Proof, if proof were needed that pie does have "yum yum" written on it. Chicken? Come and see the "pie de poulet" :D. Seriously, hope all is well, chick

    47bb483c-1e79-45f9-9c42-7d3902eb483e.jpg

Oh yes, and note the jam tarts that say "jam tart" :rotfl:

DD is not well so I don't have to do school run, just a low grade virus leaving her "under the weather". Off for a wallow in the bath soon, so it's not all bad

    Pleasures for yesterday

1 went into town with OH who had come home from his night away for breakfast, bringing bacon with him :T
2 lesson was ok, until group said they hadn't covered a topic that was on their exam  luckily it is both my favourite topic and the one I know best so an "off the cuff" lecture ensued.
3 good walks to and from station office and home, except my bleeding shoe had lost its heel so I kept slipping :rotfl:
4 made chicken pie - it was yum yum too
5 started to put decorated bedrooms furniture back, lessening the chaos slightly.

    Have a great day all
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Yummy, Pies and Tarts! Stollen and Muffins. Pears and Puddings. All nice desserts today.

    Now cheer this!

What chance of walking into the road and meeting a person with three heads? Let me connive you all.

5 Arsenal beat the team from Gyberdyke. I hear the local radio, accordion to Ms BoP, has been repasted as Hullchure! Kingston. They cannot even name it correctly, those brutes who cannot pronounce two syllables.

There is a 1 in 7 billion chance of meeting a person born with three heads. Correct? Less so if you live in Kingston! When you take a sample of fabric for your curtains, that fabric was already made!

4 OK, so BoP rants again. Well that is if yous can catch the BoP truck that is. Non Stop this morning and created another verified Land Speed record on Emily, the Sat Nav. Well in excess of thirty miles an hour as well. As it was dark, I turned my lights out for the nice Mr Plod did not see me.

3 Five a day. Had my porage and raspberry jam. Washed down with tytea. And the curry is later, lightly spiced with rice and fragrance. Wrapped up with tea with Ms BoPsie later as well. She has got some new food in for raffles, Fish, fish, fish, fish. That is my boy. He has a heart of an ancient mariner. Boy is he big. Still Ms BoP not yet able to brush him as he is a little toooo boysome for her.

Ah you say, but there is no one born with three heads, so iot cannot be true can it. Can it?

2 I see the gate has moved along for the bus passes again. Peddling and pouring drips onto the fire.

But, as when the curtain sample was taken, the fabric was already made. So, when I looked this morning, there are 7 billion people on the rock. So, there must be somewhere a person with three heads, as with the curtains. So I was right. (expectant of educationalists not to dispose of this theorem)

Just cannot understand why I got onto my favourite persons again.

And to think the great Nicklas Bendtner scored against the sour
puss. He had not done so for nearly half a century! Oh, I was thinking Charlie George. No I am not biased.

Anything is possible, even the ridiculous is probable. Just in the realms of fantasy!

I hope everyone's OK - particularly DD and anyone on the east coast. Stay safe, peeps!

Ampersand - I love the franglais. It jogs my memory about my rusty french vocab and it makes me smile when I remember words I didn't even know I knew years ago - dentelle for example. How, where, why did I learn that? - but i knew it! :)

Something to do with teeth, isn't it?*

    1) My mobile phone died last night, and nothing I could do would persuade it to turn on. :( Just as I was thinking of looking for a new one, I remembered being told that a good fix is to take the battery out, blow any dust off it, then put it back again - and it worked! :j

    2) After yesterday's HM blueberry muffins, today we had yum-yums - if this carries on we'll all be several sizes larger by Christmas! :o

    3) Mentioned to a colleague that the CD player in my car has broken, and he recommended a good local place to get a new one installed at a reasonable price. :T

    4) Chatting to a staff member in M&$ today, when I went in to buy a new pair of gloves - I was complaining (not entirely seriously) about the delicious smell from the in-store bakery, and she pointed out that it's far worse for the staff!

    5) Isis seems to have been unwell while I was at work today, but is now back to her usual playful, talkative self, much to my relief. :)

    * Joke - I know what it means really. **

** Admittedly only because I looked it up on g00gle translate this morning, but still... :p
Back after a very long break!

    Grrr from a frustrated Kittikins!

Writing from my uni library, where I am attempting to catch up/get ahead of myself for next week - which is going well :) It's a pleasure in fact!

The grrrrs are because I came in today for what turned out to be a complete waste of time spent in pointless lectures and seminars, where we basically swapped our experiences with other students who are equally as clueless as ourselves :( I was hoping for something a wee bit structured where Uni would give us clarification and ideas on how to be a better student going forward, but no.....we lugged our massive folders in to just show each other a few lesson plans. Woop-de-doo!

Turns out a lot of my cohort are just being told to adapt online lesson plans as that's all their school does!! Glad I'm at my school, where I have freedom to think up and adapt ideas from a variety of sources!

Anyway, it all made me rather grumpy and I couldn't be bothered to go out with the dwindling number of my group who decided to go to a pub right in the centre of town, rather than somewhere that those of us who don't live nearby could drive and park at.....so I made my pilgrimage to the library :)

Apparently, lots of people aren't going to bother turning up tomorrow, as the fear is that it'll be more of the same!! I'll be here and hopefully will have a better attitude ;) (and my laptop so I can acquire resources from chums, rather than using a library netbook!)

    *and breathe*

    Pleasures....

    1. Seeing a few of my chums and having a good natter/moan etc

    2. Being given some useful websites/tips from chums and hopefully sharing equally useful info.

    3. 25% off clothes in MrS supermarket - bought DD some lovely boots and a Chrimble present

    4. Having a great library to skulk around in!

    5. Opening today's advent calendar door :)

You put our pie to shame, VJsmum! Just 3 initials on ours.

Here are my pleasures for today so far:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) A jolly jaunt all the way to Telford to get the right chimney cowl.

    3) Tried to fit it but far too windy! We did, however, get the old bird guard thing off my chimney and offered it to MrN as it will stop the rain going down his.

    4) Sandwich for lunch at my mum's.

    5) Smaller son praised by TA at school. :-) There are 3 boys in his base (inc smaller son) and they are having problems with the 3rd one. Smaller son went in the base for his lunch and asked if they were going to watch James May (they do every day!) and was told they couldn't until boy3 stopped throwing things and did a few maths questions he had left.

Smaller son said "Shall I read them out to you?" and helped him and boy3 got it done in 5 minutes and James May duly was switched on!

    6) I broke up a fight this afternoon. :-O I don't like violence of any kind (not even watching it on the television). The "boy who gets kicked all the time" was heading down the school drive and 2 other boys started trying to get his book bag off him. They "encouraged" him to hand his book bag over in increasingly aggressive ways...

Then a third boy ran up and started bashing the "kicked boy" into the fence so the other 2 could get the bag more easily.

So I walked over quietly. The element of surprise when the 3 nasty ones looked up to see me looming over them worked quite well. (Couldn't loom very well, they're 11 and nearly as tall as me!) I said, in my loudest, poshest voice, "K, is that your book bag?" When he said yes I said "WHY ARE YOU THREE TRYING TO TAKE K'S BAG FROM HIM? GO AWAY" ! That worked very well too although nasty boy shouted "I can get you anytime you're not on the school grounds". Not one other parent came to help me, they all just walked past.

    7) Tasty tea.

Tis taters here and of course our thoughts are with the poor lorry driver who lost his life this monring. Makes me very angry he was out. We had orange wind warnings, the tay bridge was shut so why was he out? Another one toppled on the friarton bridge but amazingly no life lost.
vjsmum we too had chicken pie. With leek and mushroom. Potato not pastry so no letters for us. Not even p's ;-)
    1) On the fifth day of advent my dear mum gave to me a pair of secret santa socks
    2) made it into work safely
    3) left over sweet and sour for lunch nom nom while i took part in a videoconference
    4) chicken pie for tea
    5) followed by apple crumble and custard, apples from friend's tree

  • 1.Worked at home and got lots done :o
2.Physio tonight, she worked on the sciatica, I’ve done all of the exercises for the past month on the neck and back and touch wood its working, I am very happy now if I can get the sciatica gone it would be great.:o

    3. Planned food despite having an insatiable craving for a kfc, it’s a stew instead, I admit it’s venison, I left it on the rtc shelf as I wasn’t sure but DH said we could use it, it was very reduced from £4 to 40p and I couldn’t disagree, I followed a recipe for stewing it on the back of it and it tastes amazing.:p
    4. We went to hobbycraft and pc world after physio to pick up MIL’s pre ordered discounted present, and the other place for a laptop bag as mine broke in style and wandering around with a laptop bag that has holes in and the main zips are broken looks very scrappy. I had a £10 voucher for it as well, its better than nothing.
