  • Still stinky LFS...dressing gone...Frankenstiens staple marks dry but not allowed bath for a few more days to be on the safe side.
Unclean, unclean!! There's something about flannels that makes me think 'Ooh matron'. Oh well..
    1. I slept all afternoon. ZzzzzZZzzzZZZ
    2. Read 'Eat pray love' from the boxes of books
    3. Made a cuppa :D
    4. More cheesy potato for dinner
    5. Now this one is mean...but its a pleasure for me...watching OH try to do what I normally do. I want to shout 'now do you see why I was tired all the time?' Why I rarely sat down? Always flitting about like a fairy. There are two loads of washing to hang out (I put them on, just can't hang them out!) The fire isn't lit (I can't get low enough to clean it out!) so its getting chilly in here now. He let my little stall empty completely :(
And now he's all grumpy! Ah the circle of life etc..what does around comes around...still...:D
Big mean hugs xx from a stinky old LFS!!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1) Realised this morning that I had been rather disorganised and had no milk for porridge or bread for toast, so I ate the last of the coconut and raspberry pudding for breakfast instead. There's something very luxurious and naughty about eating pudding for breakfast!

    2) Office Xmas tree is up and looks great if I do say so myself. (DFV - we did discuss each bringing in a few old baubles but we needed lights, which no-one had spare, so we decided to just chip in a couple of quid each to get a beautifully colour co-ordinated tree while we were at it. :D)

    3) Watching my black and white whirlwind starting her efforts to destroy a third toy ball in two weeks.

    4) Making tomato soup for dinner, with some HG tomatoes which I froze earlier in the year.

    5) Think I'll wander out to the pub quiz tonight - I don't always do the Tuesday night one but the pub has an open fire and I hope that it's been lit as it's chilly tonight.
Back after a very long break!

    Good evening everyone :hello:

What another long day! I can't wait for Christmas to have a rest...
VJsmum - thanks, I'll have a look! It also depends on how much time I have on Sunday to bake the cake!

I discovered today that my credit card has been used fraudulently. Great! Someone has been using it on a gaming website. Luckily, as it was unusual activity they denied the second payment. Phew. However, what a blinking hassle. I'm relieved that the security they have in place obviously flags up something like this quickly.

    So, my pleasures for today:

    1) Received a calendar with my subscription to Lonely Planet magazine. I had been eyeing up one at £10, no more! :j

    2) My old student favourite "Italian Chicken" has been eaten for supper this evening. Mmmmm, good to return to those days.

    3) Need to assess what I can make cheaply and healthily. I've let myself go recently. :(

    4) erm.....

5)...... better go and do school work! No further pleasures to report.

DD - libraries are *wonderful* places. Even the students are quiet...
VickyA - you stuck to your list? <How?!> Hope the card is sorted sharpish - you sound like you have the bank in hand!
Frith - sorry 'God only knows' became an earworm. (Looking them up, the lyrics alone are Nowhere near as strong as the whole. I was quite surprised!) Have a wonderful time with the Muppets Christmas Carol - it's brilliant! (I don't think any of the Muppet choristers are flat!) Off to raid iPlayer!
Broomstick - will all this not getting fresh air & singing along the motorway will be reflected in your paypacket?
mcculloch - yippee for new efficient white goods! (I thought cooking real food was supposed to be messy? As if not, I must be getting it majorly wrong.)
mhagster - subdued maybe, but warm! Says she eyeing a fingerless mitt knitting pattern with trepidation but cold fingers. Crumble sounds wonderful & I'm sure the icecream will catch on if it stays hot!
VJsmum - how can I say you are a strange lot when there are demands for "Wembley with crumblies" when the 'normal' person might use the phrase 'Wensleydale with cranberries'? Or worry about "Goshuzi" ('girls the lads are keen on but us parents aren't sure about', which came from my scrawl of yoghurts & led to multigeneration speculation as to what I had written & what it might mean...) How goes waiting for Godot, I mean carpetfitters? As from time of post I'm guessing no carpet, no course, so no messing - on with the good stuff & not having to cook or wash up lunch!
lovefullshelves - at least you have some Oooh-er in the flanneling! My husband washed me like a pot - very bad for female morale. What Are You Doing, brewing?! Go & take it quieter (and snicker at OH some more - laughter is good for you!)
CCP - hurrah for a smashing tree & office agreement therewith, a happy whirlwind & good luck with open fire at pub quiz!

    My OS Pleasures
Boys built a balloon - loads of sheets of tissue, taller than me when inflated, hovering over a hair dryer & Magnificent!

Deleted all the Cyber-Monday-got-to-spend emails as remaining presents are all handmade or photos. There will be a few decorations, but The Mad Shopping is over. (Mine, anyway!)

Beamed at favourite tech as saw him hustle back in clutching chocolate. He gestured to the lucozade in his pocket - "round thing, square thing: balanced diet!" What for the arched thing I wondered? Grins of Inner Toddler Glee exchanged & we raced on...

Child asked to "dress as a tailor" For a drama class. Different tie, tape measure & glasses so far - vigorous debate as to pincushion, tailors chalk, waistcoat but My Tailor wears tie & glasses....

Eavesdropping on son telling gran about Parents Evening after a very good report. Trying to sound modest, and failing heroically. I'm clutching the table, wheezing with laughter.
(Kittikins where are you? Someday this will be *you* giggling happily with a pupil or eight!)

Big Hugs to all who need them, intelligent washing all round and now for the last, paced, scramble to Boxing Day.

On the third day of advent my dear mum gave to me a packet of pontefract cakes :P memories of xmas that was always my dad's xmas tree pressie
dfv i am stumped on arch shaped treats. The closest i can do is archers peach schnapps
    Tree looks fab ccp
Dont give us that old flannel lfs;-)
vickya we had a similar experience with a credit card. Good to know they're on the ball
    1) opening advent cracker #3
    2) free box of biccies from mr t
    3) spent vouchers in mr t on alcohol
    4) was tempted to suggest chinese takeaway for supper then remembered dd2 had bought chinese sunday and there was a tub of sweet and sour sauce untouched in the fridge - chicken sweet and sour for supper nom nom very tasty, quick and easy and fraction of the cost
    5) mr freeze pops, packet of penguins (special offer at mr t) and tin of mackerel bought for ds's batman box

Oh and starting another box -once again inspiration gratefully received. This time it's for a couple who are mad keen on opera. In addition to unique knitted poodle toilet roll cover complete with funny verse from another thread i want to do a guess the opera box. This was inspired by getting a pack of chocolate oranges - the love of three oranges.

    Hello :) Recent pleasures....

    1. DD is making me an advent calendar. It's AMAZING. So far it has 24 little doors stuck on to a piece of card, and when you open each door, it has a word....Days 1 to 4 make up the sentence "I love you Mummy!x" :) She says it isn't quite finished yet, I can't wait to open the other doors :)

    2. I got my dreaded essay back today!!! :) Cue one very happy Kittikins, all the blood, sweat and tears were worth it - I passed at Level 7 :):):) Roll on the other 3 essays to get my quarter of a masters...*shudder*

    3. My teacher was out today, so I had the class to myself in the morning (they go out on Tuesday afternoons). It was lovely :)

    4. I asked my Head to observe me, as I perversely quite like being observed - she's an O****d inspector and so I wanted to have an idea what she thought of me, to go with my other observations. She was really complimentary, and we had a good chat about how I can improve :) She loved my manner - especially when I told a child that him doing something great in our maths lesson made my heart sing! (She should have seen us this afternoon, caterwauling our way through 'You are my sunshine'!! lol...)

    5. I've had a few NSDs but cba to update my target. I doubt I would reach 150, but hey ho.....

    6. I left school before 5:30pm for the first time ever tonight!! Then got a slightly snottyish email from my teacher saying she had come in to see me but I'd already gone (first I knew that she was planning this, so far as I knew, she was out at a course all day!) and dumped a load of planning on me for tomorrow. Whatever ;)

    7. I've been invited to the school Xmas do!

    8. I volunteered to help with the choir rehearsal this afternoon, it was really fun :)

    9. I think I'm going to have LOTS of children at my re-arranged Latin club tomorrow lunchtime, as when I mentioned it, a load said they'd like to join in, as Wednesday is a better day for them! I think I may have to get them acting out the first chapter in groups!

    10. Having felt like the world's worst mummy, as I haven't organised myself to do DD's traditional advent calendar, which is 24 little treats (raisins, crackers, extra special cuddles, freebie CDs etc), I managed to buy her a 'proper' advent calendar (i.e. not a cheap chocolate one) on 2nd December! Phew :) She likes it and has been very understanding about my lack of tradition.....hopefully we'll return to it once we are back on our own two feet!

    11. DD's got her first trip away with Brownies to look forward to....not until next summer, but it's another rite of passage, lol.

    12. DD's going to her maths challenge morning tomorrow, so I'm going to make her a have fun (rather than a good luck) card as certain people in the household have been putting far too much stress on the event....and I want her to just go and enjoy it!

    13. I've arranged with DD that we'll go to my school's Christmas fete and treat ourselves to lunch in a village pub. Most of my class know that I'm planning on coming, they're dying to meet DD (as she is them). How cute :)
  • Last one inn. I'll get the lights.
Bin a busy day, just finished atbe football. Busy tomorrow as well.

But I note, the wind is blowing, the times, they are a chagin!

Good news re the battery charger, McC. I keep seeing all sorts of things smaller son would like but nothing in particular for bigger son!

VJsmum - been trying to work out which town Mandess is. D'oh! Small town with the cinema is mentioned in the radio 4 dad thing. ;-)

    Keep getting better, LFS.

Dundeedoll - I don't know what Pontefract cakes are. :-S

Kittikins- that all sounds incredibly busy.

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Smaller son went into school by himself! I was told I could stay in the car. I did wonder if the staff would wonder where I was but he was adamant he was doing that. He also had hot dinner in the canteen again.

    3) Sons signed all the Christmas cards without complaints then smaller son wrote one to his last school.

    4) Popped to see mum and dad briefly.

    5) Very funny watching sons' expressions change when I got them to sit through a few seconds of Farming Today then granddad started talking!

    6) Holby City.

    7) Bed now with hwb (perishing in here with no stove) but not sure what to listen to on iplayer.
