DVF - thanks for the ebooky offer but I don't own one! I'm all paper still:D
Ok, my sanity has totally gone..so these may not sound like pleasures..but they are 'things'..
1. OH is cooking tea. (this should be a good thing) Chicken dinner he announced. He couldn't work out the timing, or get the foil open. Forgot stuffing..oh and veg..so its chicken and mash :lipsrseal
2. OH put the washing on.:undecided left it in the machine till I struggled it out. 6 hours later. If he puts the tumble drier on again I swear I will go insane!
3. OH is (finally ) lighting the fire (even after many times explaining that when my scar gets cold it really hurts) He is now discovering that the 'fairy' cuts alot more wood than he has!
As you can see my dear sweet OH is trying. But he aint no Wheelbarrow fairy!
Makes me feel vaguely smug and incredibly annoyed!!
Oh and for good luck he's gonna go on the 200 mile round trip to see his mum tomorrow to get his xmas present. Leaving me to :silenced: alone from 8 till 8:D
I'm fairly sure he loves me:mad:

LFS - sorry to hear that the Wheelbarrow Fairy is so sorely missed. Hope she's soon back to her wood-chopping, chicken-cooking ways.
PK - hope you're feeling a bit better by now.
1) Had another go at persuading Isis to go out into the garden, with marginally better results. This time she only hid behind the bed for 20 minutes, rather than a couple of hours - she still wouldn't go outside, though!
2) Went to put on my favourite cardy this morning and discovered it was missing a button. I found a spare in my button box and, after a few attempts (I'm really not very good at sewing), I managed to get it attached. Later on, while taking the towels out of the washing machine, I found the original button, so I've still got a spare, too.
3) Received a phone call from my sister, who is sounding considerably better, I'm very pleased to say.
4) I was going to make chilli con carne tonight, but discovered I didn't have any kidney beans. Rather than going up to the shop I changed my plans and have made an Italian-style ragu instead, as I had all the ingredients for that. :money:
5) Which means NSD and NPD. :money:Back after a very long break!0 -
Must be quick.
1. Cantilena Singers in Church in half an hour.
2. Then to ferry for cheapie day rtn avec 6 bouteilles du vin y compris after heads-up here. Sailing 0320h.
3. Really struck by Robert Webb's 'My Teenage Diary' - funny, moving.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01k290n
and he's on with Clive Anderson now.
4. New Thermos will be baptised. Had to be done, grit teeth though I did.
5. 32p reverbe, 20p of which was most unlikely and highly satisfactory...shared with a smile with l-h.
More Monday.
Take care everybody. Let yourself top up on cba while you can lfs.

CCP, I'm glad you sister's sounding so much better.:)
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. Lovely visit to my parents for lunch. We're all really enjoying their company at the moment and are making lots of happy memories. Lots of laughter too.
2. Not very MSE but paid for a car wash. The windscreen was ghastly and the car was covered in bird poo and I felt too cold to go out and wash it myself but now it's done and I can see out of the windows again - safety and luxury!
3. Raided the £1 shop for a few cheapo X**s decorations to contribute to the event DS2 and I will be at tomorrow: tacky, tinselly and tasteless, they'll do fine!
4. Catching up with bits and pieces on iplayer while hand sewing.
5. Phone call with my best most friend who still has had no conclusive results to his medical problems although he's feeling better. They are leaving it a couple of months, redoing his blood tests to see if they are getting worse, and if they are will be moving onto more invasive investigations. I can't believe how long all this is taking. We ended up laughing and laughing with each other on the phone - lovely.
Sweet dreams

Isis sounds like a lovely little thing. we came by all of our pets by accident. The rabbits (now sadly only rabbit singular) we were asked to take on by a friend of my mums, the dog was from a friend of a friend, we had to take him a bit too early at only 5 weeks old because mum had stopped feeding him and the cat was taken in by a friend as kitten while he was found a home. so.
1. cat on my knee and dog on my feet keeping me toasty warm.
2. DH making a good recovery.
3,4,5 DD2 is 6 today she's growing up far too quickly but is so lovely, happy and kind. had lots of fun baking her cake together.
the car is still poorly and staying at the garage for the weekend but it was a bit of a blessing in disguise. had DD's friends round for tea and a film instead of the planned cinema trip. she had a lovely day but one of her little friends is a bit of a fidget (nightmare actually lol) so i'm really glad we didn't make it to the cinema or I might have lost my last shred of sanity.
CCP so pleased your sister is home for a bit x
Did my last post change w ellies to willies? my facebook keeps doing that too! I seem to have a laptop with a dirty mind. it doesn't autocorrect any other words!freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
What a day!
I thought I would sweep the chimney while sons are at their father's...
Imagine a small stove in a massive iglenook. 1 metre of solid stove pipe passes through a metal plate that you can unscrew if you want to look up the big, brick chimney. The solid stove pipe (above the metal plate) attaches to several metres of flexible chimney liner.
So I started sweeping (had to take firebricks etc out of stove). Plenty of soot but I could only get the rods in for a metre. Took metal plate down (moving fireguard, many logs etc first).
Was met by several metres of chimney liner collapsing into the living room! It is now lying out in the garden. :-(
So, pleasures for today.
1) The chimney will be easy to sweep tomorrow as it is lying outside.
2) The downstairs of the house is nice and clean after it took 2 hours to sweep, mop then scrub the floors to get rid of the dust and soot.
3) Lots of washing done including the sofa throws (see above).
4) Wrote the Christmas cards and wrapped presents.
5) Had tea at mum and dad's.
6) Casualty!
7) Funny phone call with smaller son early who was trying to tell me in code about the advent calendar his father has bought him with (disdainful tone) Peppa Pig on it! As he said, "I'm surprised he didn't buy bigger son In the Night Garden" !! :-D
Ampersand - I remember the Robert Webb diary very clearly. And Ken Livingstone's. I'm happy that the Secret World is back on.0 -

4) xmas shopping shaping up nicely and within budget. Lots of ideas from this site being used, especially movie boxes.

Hello and welcome from oh so warm Melbourne ....still 28o at the mo and was about 32o through the day.
Woke up early and got washings on and out and then ...
Road trip with OH to Bendigo which is a 2 hour drive away, lovely drive but only saw squashed kangaroos.
Met up with one of the girls I used to work with the first year we were out here and we have stayed in touch. She spent a year in Europe so it was lovely to catch up.
We had a lovely lunch which was actually quite reasonably priced. Sat outside and blethered for about 3 hours ....gentle breeze took the heat off. I had a tuna and cashew nut salad with garlic bruschetta ..very yummy.
Nice drive home and then have spent past 2 hours putting decorations on the tree. It will only be up for 2 weeks before I take it back down ...this is the 4 th time I've put it up and it's been boiling but I think the first time I've not been in tears! DS kindly ( but every branch grudged) put the tree up for me!
Wore my new maxi dress that I bought for 50% off and it fits....I'm not vey tall....not even nearly very tall and most of them drown me and would trip me up. This one is perfect
Ice cream for dinner!
Have a lovely start to December0 -
Happy December, at least I am now allowed to think about Christmas.
Broomstick, thank you for the PM. We always pay to get the car washed, these days. It happens so infrequently that it is worth every penny.
LFS finally got round to looking at mad bag lady hats. Love them, maybe I will turn into mad bag lady. Stick with it, only another 11 weeks to go
Mhagster, I treat myself. To Aldi flowers too. Cheap and cheerful and the current lot have lasted over two weeks:T. I always go for yellow, so cheering. Poor kangaroos, I was thinking squished badgers were bad enough
Skint, hope the worst of the virus has passed now
CCP glad sis is seeming better, being at home will help
Ampersand, thanks for the Robert Webb reminder
Lisakay, happy birthday DD. they do grow up too quick, can't believe we are now planning my DD university. Scary
Frith - oops. My father in law, as a teenager, struggled to get the fire going chucked a bit of paraffin on it  WHOOSH went the fire up the chimney WHOMP came the soot back down and out into the room :rotfl: oh boy did he get into trouble
DD movie boxes? DVD snacks, etc? All ideas gratefully received
So, pleasures for yesterday
1. OH and I spent the morning together, including a coffee at costa in our local cinema. It's the easiest place to park on a Saturday. Got talking to a chap who recommended several films, saving mr Banks, captain Phillips and 10 years a slave. Goodness knows when I am going to get time to watch them
2 did the kids advent calendars. Distributed a box of heroes into the pockets of our lovely fabric calendars. Ate the remainder
3 spent a pleasant hour in the garden picking up leaves and general tidying. One more session when the green bin is emptied should do it. Blessed tree is already bidding next years
4 sat and watched Harry Potter and philosophers stone. Such an unusual think for me to do on a Saturday afternoon. Love HP
5 went out for dinner with kids. Has become a habit lately. Not very MSE but what are we working for if not to be able to do such things? Especially as kids are growing and our opportunities are lessening.
Have a lovely Sunday allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening all. It's very quiet around here at the moment, isn't? Where is everyone? :undecided
Frith - about your chimney - what a mess that must have made!
1) Nice lie-in this morning, with a feline HWB lying on my feet.
2) Over the summer I bought myself some solar-powered garden lights, and was rather annoyed that two of them have already stopped working. I contacted the company I bought them from and they're sending me replacements. :T
3) NSD and NPD.
4) Spent a chunk of my afternoon entering various competitions - I've had one win already this year and would like to finish with another.
5) Lazy dinner tonight, courtesy of the M&$ meal deal - I just need to put a pie in the oven, microwave some veg to go with it, and dinner is served.Followed by raspberry and coconut pudding and cream.
Back after a very long break!0
