Morning all, just dropping by early to wish PK and mhags DD1 belated but nontheless very happy birthdays

Also thank you for the link Broomstick. I wouldn't wish such a situation on anybody but aren't people amazing in the face of disaster? They may not be able to make a living from it but they can feed themselves and their families. A lesson learned -never get complacent about what I have.

Back later with 5, have a sunny day, wrap up and keep warm! :)
  • Funny that we all end up stitched up. Special Beard Rubs to all. Jenny gives a :heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls:heartpuls

3 Bit short today, as I have had my snorkers, black puddings and toast and tea.

2 Going to the Millennium Stadium tonight to watch the rugby. Ms BoPs first international!

5 Raffles is a stupid cat. Well all cats are stupid. The way he paws up in the morning for his fresh rats is incredible. Super stretch he does. Mind you, the local rats are suffering!

    4 Days offski next week

1 Don’t laugh; you’ll end up in stitches.

    Well past bedtime for me!

We are just in from a fabulous night out watching Michael McIntyre perform in the city. He was so funny and his support act was hilarious too. Tickets bought back in the days of a 2 income family! Laughed and laughed some more !

Prior to that had a pleasant day.
Chat with mum, aunt , sister and niece ...as mum wasn't answering her phone and friend.
Grocery shop surprisingly under budget. I used my $15 voucher but even then I was surprised at how reasonable it was.

Tidied up once again and did a teeny tiny bit in the garden.

Had a rant at the state of my daughters bedrooms and bathroom! Now tidier!

    That was my day :)

Welcome Flamingo - what chocolate bar was it?

    Pleasures for Wednesday

    1. Nightmare day at work, except the teaching which was fine, but all the admin and stuff was pants. But at least it gave me opportunity to leave fairly early :T
    2. DS got an A in his English test!! :T (sorry to brag but this is a boy who we were told would never even be average academically)

    4. Easy tea of a previously cooked bog for spag
    5. Actually caught the train for once and had nice walk to and from station

    1) A pleasure in an odd sort of way: my little sister has been very unwell for quite a few months, and her GP has just kept prescribing antibiotics and steroids even though they weren't helping. She's now seen a new doctor who has decided this isn't good enough and has sent her for more tests - the results aren't back yet but it looks like it might be something serious (possibly kidney related ). :( The pleasure is that she has finally found a doctor who is prepared to take her seriously and not keep fobbing her off with useless tablets. :undecided

    2) Took my remaining free veg box vouchers to work and both have gone to good homes. :money:

    3) Went to pick up my usual pint bottle of milk at the supermarket and then spotted the 2 pint bottles next door which had been reduced to less than the 1 pint bottles, so I've now got a freezer full of milk. :money:

    4) I haven't currently got much of a sense of taste, so I'm going to have spicy chicken burritos for dinner, with enough chilli that I will hopefully be able to taste something even if it's just hot!

    5) Received the horse show tickets. :j:j:j
Christmas horse show tickets? Tell on?

A group of us went last year, and I made a complaint about the very poor stewarding, which varied from irritating to downright dangerous. The security company accepted my point, and offered us free tickets for this year as an apology. :j

ccp so did you quiz? I have been tasked with writing the office xmas party quiz eek

Yes, me too. :( I've done it for the past few years, and at least this year a friend / colleague has offered to help so I don't have to do it all myself. And yes, I did go in the end, as did nearly everyone else in the area - it was like a sardine tin, with added beer! ;)

And a belated happy birthday PK! :D
Back after a very long break!

This is a rather nice video showing the reaction of the little lad who was picked as mascot for the Wales-Tonga match tonight which is where BoP is.

I posted it on a Facebook group and got a lovely comment from his Mum. I have the same disability but it affects me in a different way :D

Quick collection of pleasures, just seen the time:

    1. I tried this recipe out last night and apart from being incredibly messy to make and needing a tiny touch more seasoning, they went down really well. The salmon fillets I had were smaller than the recipe, so I added 120g of tuna, which was undetectable.

    2. A lot more clothes now fit me than this time last year which has extended my winter wardrobe.

    3. Had a wonderful induction session at the gym, could use far more machines than I thought possible as it's so well equipped. Cycled down and back as well of course.

    4. Have discovered I can claim the cash now from a pension fund that isn't eligible for benefits - money paid in years ago. Will probably get it after Christmas.

    5. Tudor Farm. Really enjoying that series and remembered to record it as well.

Some not a pleasures - praying none of the extended family (my Dad's side) were caught up in the Riga supermarket collapse. Work website out of action again for weekend, which is when I like to work on it, being contrary.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

mcculloch - that is a wonderful linky. I'm listening on'Twireless and ...oh dear, that's bop being led off. Raffles read no.5. and alerted Match Stewards.
Welcome indeed flamingo - I, too, wondered which choccie bar. Just whisper. I won't tell anyone else.
lfs - St Valentine's Day, nothing before.
Happy Birthday bits to all pre-, present and post-.

    1. Tough day at Spits seemed general. Saw something go in shoulder bag from neighbour's stock, was about to intervene, but saw person go to vendor and speak, so thought all was correct and payment had taken place. Not so. Checked asap, having own buyer at the time - too late. Not a pleasure for x, but he had had that intuition too and we will recognise the person again. The same known ones apparently come back and back, even though followed by security, time and time again.

    2. Small banking done, better than none. More rugby banter with S, always fun. He IS such a good man.

    3. Bit bullet and bought rather costly new gate lock. Middle of current one still falling out every time. Will fit it tomorrow.

    4. Light lunch was really lovely somehow, despite being some of yesterday's Spits lunch: omelette of Vicar's eggs, rtc peppers, leeks, basil - all rtc 7p or less - followed by ditto w8rs pineapple - 2 were 50p. Fancy final qtr for supper now, while kettle boils for hwb. I'm unjustifiably cba today. Didn't make it back here until nearly 0200h and have mugged eye. Coathanger fell apart as I unhooked overhead vintage Burberry last night and ?hook point hit my eye. I was relieved it hadn't pierced eyeball, but it's not great atm.

    5. Remembered neighbour's bunny carrots, almost too late, on way back tonight. Had forgotten, so didn't have exact money for honesty basket. Met the man for 1st time, super fella, has fabulous long sunblessed tresses.

mcculloch - just read your recipe. I have those veggies as mash waiting:-) It's the sort of thing I like, make and take to Spits.

Cricket of England, reduced to Ashes, RIP. Appalling to listen to. Sunday at The Alma, & vs Ireland - no repetition j'espère. Boycott is right.

Seems a fistful of tgif's are not amiss ce soir. Also, Buff up Snugs, one and all.
