Sorry to hear about your tooth, PK.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) A lie in!
2) Sons went off to their father's reasonably cheerfully and I've had several texts from them.
3) Spent four hours completing my Sinter Klaas packaging. :-) Who would like to see a picture....? It is an (almost) scale model of my sister's new house!
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
4) Stewed up crab apples, just got to boil them with sugar now.
5) Cat OK-ish. She can't control her back legs enough to manage the stairs so keeps miaowing at the top or bottom and I have to carry her.
6) Pie and chips from the travelling bus for tea.
7) Enjoyed sitting in front of the stove watching Strictly then Casualty just now.0 -

VickyA - Atticus? From To Kill a Mocking Bird ? .
The very same! It was my GCSE English Lit text all those years ago. 18 yrs later, he was as wise as the first day he chose me. When I saw my old English teacher a couple of years after doing my GCSEs, I mentioned that I had a cat called Atticus; she was truly delighted that at least I'd learnt something.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Frith, your household is so creative! Glad that smallest cat is mending.
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. A delivery arrived with a load of books I needed for work, some more little things for X**s and three more of those great hang on a hook/stick with a magnet 24 LED lights. We already have three (one for each bedroom in power cuts) so these are back up.
2. More washing dried. My life is sooo exciting!:D
3. Lovely long chat with friend about one of the difficult situations I'm dealing with - I've been feeling very well supported with decisions I've been making.
4. Knitting, snuggled in a chair listening to some of The Camomile Lawn on R4 extra.
5. Tikka and rice for supper.
Sweet dreams

Good morning from my lovely sister's house.
Vicky - I love "to kill a mockingbird" it's one of my favouritist books. I saw the film only a month ago on one of my long plane journeys - loved it. Perhaps the next cat should be "scout" or "boo Radley".
Frith - that is uhmayzing - I wish I were artistic
Chicken - love that one of your pleasures is swearing at things, we are kindred spirits
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Got through a fair bit of my very late back marking on the train
2. Resisted a pastry at St Pancras but enjoyed my coffee
3. Lovely roast pork cooked by my brother at dads. Dad was very bright and chirpy - better than I have seen him in a while
4. seeing my lovely sister - she doesn't seem as bad as BIL suggested, but he must have had reason to be worried. I tried to prize info out of her, but she said she is fine and she seems it. I will pay more sisterly attention to her though
5. Seeing a beautiful sunset from the train - stunning.
Off on the train home shortly with more marking. But am currently enjoying playing with niece, 9, nephew - 5 and a tiny terrier.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I rewatched the film of To Kill A Mockingbird during the summer and was very confused when Scout shouts "Atticus" at the beginning and out walks the divine Gregory Peck and NOT a 4 legged, black and white bundle of gorgeousness! I've already had a rabbit called Jem; Scout is next on my list for names.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
CCP - good to see you're safe back & can't see what on earth is lazy about soup & pudding!
Chickenopolis - atta girl letting both blackberry thorns & dumb neighbour have both barrels. (I get sent on a tour of the neighbours before the first twig is lit to avoid just this sort of uncalled for foolishness!)
DD - the ravelry garland - is that the one by Frankie Brown? I do admire your knitting prowess! I'm competent (just) at scarves. Shapes bemuse me...
Purple kitten - hope you find a dentist soon, hurrah for the boots (the right ones really are MS because of the years of use!) and well done getting in and out of Costco!
Frith - I am in **awe ** of the Sinter Klass House - it is glorious! I do hope Sis appreciates it, because I'll take her hand off if she doesn't!
VickyA - isn't it odd when we meet teachers as people? (You know what I *mean* kittikins!) Likewise when the name we're used to has an unexpected face (although Gregory Peck - yum!).
Broomstick - the LED lights sound splendid fun - although the power cuts less so.
VJsmum - glad to hear your Dad is better & that your brother can cook (a handy virtue in a chap!)
Skint yet Again - our day started early as Himself wanted to hit the carboot. It's still light here but I'm flagging!
BoP - Raffles has selected you? Hurrah!
OS Pleasures today
I do love C shopping with my accomplice (who is 12)... We've plundered B&M for sweets for mugs, stockings etc & found very handsome tins of biscuits. Then I had some imminently expiring clubcard offers, so we winced at the prices & picked up the points - he's very chuffed to think we made almost £10 in shrewd deals as well as buying things we can explain easily.
Distinct uncertainty as to when the Asda Christmas card adds its money - one assistant was "too late" today is the add-on day, another uncertain & sold me the fattest variant as the other cards hasn't "got it" so she think it adds tonight. On the cheerful understanding that she wasn't making any promises! (Martin clear it's at 5 tonight, so shall stop worrying!)
Trying to muster the right enthusiasm for C thinking & wrapping. Satisfaction in knowing we have the tools, just feeling a bit feeble at getting started! My accomplice however is almost chomping at the bit, so when we have everyone ensconced with a good war film or something, we can sneak off and prepare our own surprises.
Son has asked for help with his french homework. Since that meant I did it last time, I think I'll just sit him at google translate. I do feel for his French teacher - all my lads have been unwilling pupils, with the vehemently expressed opinion that we won the 100 years war & so learning their strange ways is uncalled for. Me, since I was coshed through irregular verbs Anyway, I quite enjoy the strange ways.
Taken our PC which was suffering, running two loads of analysis software over it & hauling it back into the land of the cooperative. As satisfying as a well dug garden.
Big hugs to all who need them!0 -
Apologies for the all the sniffling - I seem to have developed a cold overnight.
BoP - great news about Raffles - may you all be very happy together.
Frith - just love that house!
PK - hope you get your poor tooth fixed soon.
1) Lie-in this morning, and it was a much needed one as Isis decided that 3.45am was the correct time to get up on a Sunday morning.
2) Wrote a few paragraphs for my job application before giving up as my brain really isn't working properly, and have spent the rest of the day reading my new TP book and watching various bits of sport.
3) NSD and NPD.
4) Isis used her new scratching pad, with the classic cat nonchalance that suggests she's been using it for weeks.
5) Dug a portion of pork casserole and a loaf of RTC garlic bread out of the freezer, so dinner tonight will take practically no effort at all - a great relief when I'm feeling so off-colour.
Have a pleasant, snuffle-free Sunday evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
