    Good news, BoP!

Last week managed to take the only photo ever with all 3 of mine on. Tabby is Joey No Tail (no tail following amputation but she does have an extra 2 thumbs on her front paws!). Big Barry (ginger) and little Charlotte.

Smallest cat is back from the vets and limping around. Now hiding under my bed.

Hope littlest pusscat gets well soon frith

Well it is certainly past my bedtime , we are just in from a very nice dinner in the city with a UK colleague of OH.

    Today
Chit chats with niece, mum and friend.
    Saturday scone
Returned DD2 broken phone to aldi. Got full refund ...luckily I noticed that they are now $20 cheaper and got back what we actually paid (scanned in at lower price).
A bath and a read of book at same time.
Used nice soap we were given months ago when OH helped lift a heavy mirror of a shop wall for the lady owner...she gave me 2 bars of soap.
Borrowed a tunic- dress from DD1, wore with new jeans from charity shop...need to lose half a stone before I wear them again....silly low rise boyfriend jeans or whatever there called! Had to loosen a button after meal!
Used my heated rollers ....OH bought them for our first Christmas when we were married! So a few curls!
Nice journey in and out on train.

Amazing dinner...I had duck with mushroom lasagne. It was stunning.
And for pudding , a trio of desserts made by chef! oh my! One of them would have been enough. I thought it would be 3 tiny morsels!
Very rich and decadent brownies, panacotta topped with rose water candy floss ( called fairy floss over here) and cheesecake. All beautifully presented and amazing to eat! UK colleague was a nice man and good company for the evening, the first time we had met him. Dinner on his expenses so thank you very much!

Off to bed have a lovely Saturday :)

Frith what a super trio, the tabby is just my kind of cat - very out of the ordinary! So good to hear the little 'un is at home, hopefully she'll make a good steady recovery.
BoP if you're thinking of going to look at Cats Protection, just a note that they don't do any adoptions after 30th November. It's to stop people giving kittens for the C-word, not that that would be your intention but a sensible safeguard against 'returns' in January.
mhags the trio of puds sounds right up my street! Good that you got the full refund for DD2's broken phone.
ampersand enjoy your afternoon, keep warm

    1. have mowed the lawn and cleared the leaves - why do they not fall in next door's gardens, only mine?!
    2. arranging a secret C-word dinner for a lovely friend who is emigrating to NZ in December. This will be her last ever in UK as all her rellies are there now. 22 for dinner so far :)
    3. made a C-word present list. Usually done it all by now, no idea what's happened to the time this year but pleased to have made a start at last

Lunch time, back later with more :)

Ah, I love cats. BoP, ensure you interview well! My baby boy (black and white cat called Atticus) passed away last week after 18.5yrs of being treated like a king. I was going to interview for a cat today but the local rehoming place has a bout of cat flu. :( Another day.

    So, my five for today:

    1) Visit to the farmers' market. Got the most divine fudge (sea salt flavour), 4lbs of local sausages for £11, eggs, fish pate etc.

    2) Finished the end of a loaf of bread, making toast to go with some of the fish pate. Along with leftovers from last night's supper. An eclectic mix of food, but nothing wasted. ;)

    3) Reading about this child in San Francisco. How amazing is that?

    4) Meal planning. I'm determined to not lurch from one meal to the next.

    5) More washing. Not really a pleasure as it means more ironing. Where are the ironing fairies when you need them?

    Have a good day all.

Chickenopolis - laundry drying on the line? Ours refrigerates...
sparrer - impressed by your medics & downright covetous of friends - Croatia! Have to clear leaves too. Mostly from drains.
Skint yet Again - parents who leave the larder stocked are treasures. Well done OH with Police testing!
VJsmum - hope first driving lesson goes well. Try not to worry about the insurance & work out how much sending him in a taxi would cost. Plan to delegate school run, plus Getting Money's Worth...
Frith - how is smaller cat? How are you? (Gold Zone is a place on the platform you wait for trains at, isn't it?!) Glad vet helpful & hugely relieved Charlotte is under the bed.
CCP - safe back from wilder shores of Southampton?!
Purple kitten - hurrah for winter tyres & happy man playing with big toys! Lidl & I play nicely when I have all of 15 minutes. Less time to be as tempted, maybe? Happy new tumble drier!
BoP - the chicken does not need apologies - it looks so good in its close-up, it should be thanking you! You need *permission* to look at a cat? Last I saw, they looked you over & decided you'd do, (as staff), after careful training...
bagpuss - just watching films with one's children is a much underrated pleasure! (Mine fetch drinks in exchange for me being their breathing sofa...)
Tealady - laptop sorting for baby cuddles sounds a wonderful reward!
Kittikins - yeay for sorted paperwork & eructavit cor meum for Latin Club!
DD - tea, morse & lunatic pups sound wonderful!
broomstick - amidst the daily scuffle, hang on to how *stunning* that scarf is going to look!
VickyA - welcome back & well done overcoming the lurgy! You have ironing fairies? I've delegated training the lads to husband as we all want ironed (not scorched) shirts & I'm not safe with hot metal.
ampersand - with you on buttering cat paws. All the best at the Alma!
mhagster - well done on full refund at Aldi, and hurrah on serious eating out in good company on expenses!

    OS pleasures for Friday
Plans for ISS spotting postponed by cloud clamped over the horizon like a pressure cooker lid. Still blinking cold. Buoyed up by comradeship of would-be observers!

Wind has made rows of fallen dry leaves. So I jumped in & had a good kickabout & now feel as pleased with life as if I'd had seconds of custard.

Colleague is bring extraneous leather to work next week - I've got her a small cafetiere & a temportary MyWaitrose card to help keep her caffeinated while training. Each of us thinks we're getting the better of this!

Y'know, one OS Pleasure of work is They Pay for the heating. Plus a site survey found things with over half our windows, which must now be kept shut.

Friday! Even get out early! Husband has made stew, son dumplings (latter needs Further Training, but willing has been shown...)

    Saturday
Have tidied my bedroom. (Well, tip beside my side of bed.) *Was* in no position to chide offspring, now heaven help them...

Boiler gone phthutt. Engineer called out. We may not have hot water until his return. If you hear any unexpected high pitched noises, it may be me experimenting with a cold shower. I'm told it does wonders for the circulation....

Planning a bedspread of old T shirts to stop offspring killing my favourites. May break into quilting in places, see how it goes.

Another forum friend was handed a (recently deceased) goose - her husband will dine like a king this weeekend, but she's vegetarian. And planning to send us the wings. Very Tudor hand brushes, paint brushes & quill pens planned...

My profoundly eccentic uncle has reappeared, declaiming, and has been collected into the bosom of the family. Emails suggest this is going well, but not without the usual family dynamics.

Big hugs to all who need them, health restored to all feeling less than the full shilling & may your cats find you with all celerity!

    Afternoon all.

As you can see, I made it back from the wilds of Southampton - I got badly lost trying to find the place (from the mutters of my class-mates I was far from the only one!) but got there in the end, only ten minutes late. :o

    1) After all that effort the tutorial went very well, with the rare pleasure of pointing out something which the tutor hadn't spotted himself. :D

    2) On the way back I took the opportunity to drive past the university where I'm applying for a job, and it looks very promising. I noticed that the road opposite the university is called Dahlia Road - is that an omen? ;)

    3) Isis' new scratching pad has arrived, which will hopefully protect my carpets. Or, more accurately - and it's the key point really - my landlord's carpets!

    4) The tutor gave us all permission to skip the last part of the current chapter of study if we so wish, as he feels it's so completely irrelevant that it's a waste of our time. (Although this was strictly on the basis that, should OU HQ ever ask, he said no such thing! :rotfl:) I therefore felt justified in spending my afternoon messing about online rather than doing any studying.

    5) Super-lazy soup and pudding night tonight - the soup and pudding are both RM, while the bread's from a packet (but all on SO, of course).

DFV - yay for kicking leaves around - it's a perennial pleasure. :D

Frith - great news about Charlotte - may she continue to recover quickly.

BoP - very glad to hear you and Mrs BoP are getting mogged up again, and I look forward to reading all about him / her. :)
Back after a very long break!
  • Good evening all !

DfV - I hope you get your heating sorted xx

Frith - sorry to hear about the cat I hope that she is on the mend.

KK- I did laugh at the dog flap large enough for a human !

VJsmum - Blimey forgetting makeup . I haven't been out of the house without slap on since 1983.!!I would have had to call in sick:rotfl:

BoP - good for you . I hope that a cat "finds" you soon , because animals choose people I think ;)

VickyA - Atticus? From To Kill a Mocking Bird ? .

    5 for today

    1. Swearing profusely at the blackberry bush thorns as I cut them back . I won .

2.Stinky Pete the ars* of a neighbour decided to light yet another bonfire at 2pm when we all had our washing out.Pleasure? Most of ours was dry and telling him that he was the most selfish man I have ever met ... I have met a fair few too.Thing is he works for a skip company . Well fill one up instead of stinking out the planet, or use the recycling bin which was emptied yesterday.

3.My sister had her shed door replaced. Ours is cream crackered and has been off its hinges for some time and we have just not got round to doing it. OH collected it and put it on , it needed a bit chopped of the end as her shed door frame must be higher than mine but that end was a bit rough so it now looks like a new door.Saved a few quid and recycled something too.It looks smart .

    4. As I can now get in to the shed , checked freezer No. 2 and its fine. Found some stuff in there I didn't know I had .

    5. Took the terrier out . Lovely and sunny here.

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

Not a pleasure I’ve cracked my tooth, now I need to find a dentist. Hmmm not my idea of fun, but the pain is ouchy.
A not very MSE post, as last night we had some strange conversations about what to do this weekend, and DH admitted he needed to go shoe shopping as did I and with a sense of dread we headed over to lakeside. Neither of us shops for fun, especially when getting something specific, as we both have complex foot problems.
    1. Wow it was heaving and heaving some more people everywhere, started in the pound shop, worked up to asda living and boots, then hit Blacks and was utterly un impressed with them, their products and their staff. We ended up in a shop I am surprised at is it a high st sports or a likes, they listened to our problems and suddenly a wall full of about 1000 choices was narrowed to 2. But in all fairness they were really good and as far as expense goes it worked out at £50 each, bearing in mind the last time either of us bought shoes was er 2009. Ahem.:o:rotfl:
    2. We stopped in at Costa as it was the only choice available, and needed it was nice to sit and re group.
    3. I for some reason I thought it would be mse as were already over there to pop into the over crowded Costco and pick up 2 things which is exactly what we did the good thing with so many people is we just went to what we wanted, bought it and left.
    4. Nice to be home, the animals are going loopy and we have a proper hot cuppa.:o
    5. Just ordered in as with loyalty points and a voucher for £10 off it came to a few quid.
