Wow BoP Raffles looks quite a solid lad, and what beautiful colouring! A lapful sounds lovely and snuggly, and as for chatty - hmm, wonder who will be the most talkative ;). Congratulations to you all, so pleased you're a complete family again :)

Odd pluckings of several days. That's how things are atm:

Raffles - 101pts basic[1,1,4x2,4,1,1,1,inc 7 letters down]+ 2nd plural adjunct value on a treble word. Excellent stormer of the bop portals. Well done Raffles! Isis may have some training tips: ccp needs more 0345h practice for starters. Continued recovery to brave little Charlotte.

    1. ...which methods were not needed in The Alma hier. [bop-thought your no. 3 was in praise of ABs]. I was exhausted given that I am not only Coach in a shared name, but Coach by kiwi-ness of Wales and Ireland. Can't keep up...will blame this for Irish defeat. Screamed and haka'd out, was not sole flightless bird and was flying for most of match anyway. Inherited half-bot of good red. V.useful tonic.

    2. Hearing of Doris Lessing's death on way back just now...had been thinking of her early in week and yesterday morning, checking out my old copies of The Golden Notebook and The Grass Is Singing. Same thing happened with John Tavener too, after I'd been listening to some sound files and reading about Marfan's Syndrome the day prior.
Not really a pleasure, but I am glad they were and remain in my mind. By contrast, switched to France Inter straight after, to avoid extremely depressing rpt of NHS sell-off prog on r4.

    3. Another[must be final]100g framboises picked.

    4. Expansion by Common Usage of 'reverbe' continues - 2.5k bag of Rooster taties in trolley! No-one around, took them in to cs - 'We can't take them as they're fresh food. You'll have to. If someone comes back and asks, we have to give them fresh from stock.'

    5. Friday visit - total crock-up and admin. failure shortened time and must do things demain.

    6. Church again. Seem to be going a fair bit these days, but again sermon and prayers were perfect, way more than.

    7. Needed to get back to Fitzwilliam again and timing's too tight during rest of this week before Spits. P&R bus left as I arrived. Given w/e scarcity, drove through gritted teeth but lighter than usual traffic into town. PARKED DIRECTLY OUTSIDE on a no fees day!!! Did thing I'd gone for then headed to Rm8, Flemish paintings, Dutch/Early Netherlandish Rm15 being shut for renovation. Enjoyed closing half-hour with a Younger Brueghel painting and associated works, plus a Saint& one which I really liked. This has all been started by Michael Frayn's 'Headlong', as prev, posted. It has to be a keeper, as does this latest rich quest to know.

    8. Was late starting after Church as I was caught up in this:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00n3ptg
-which was last play late Blvd and I attended in the West End, so more autumnal-tempered chimings clanging about so darned often atm...

    9. Catalogue arrived hier, for Tuesday:
    http://www.catalogue-host.co.uk/rowley/newmarket/2013-11-19/

Had one of these for 50p a few years ago:
    http://www.catalogue-host.co.uk/rowley/newmarket/2013-11-19/lot_34?prev_page=browse%20catalogue%2c%20page%201%20of%2022&prev_url=%2frowley%2fnewmarket%2f2013-11-19%2fpage_1@
    Treat yourself, chicken.
-and Lot 230 is very much my sort of thing. Might stand a chance on an off day...on verra. Mere glimpses reveal too many luscious objêts way beyond &. It's Big Prices On Smalls time of year. Might go and have a wee look demain soir, after College Salon re-inks &longhairs.

Quiet minds and peaceful hearts partout....and further avoidance of junior JAM trailers now has companion in Dr Who Anni. progs. Can't stand, never could.
    ##########
Blimey!..while faffing and correcting and adding, Purrssy Raffles has arrived. Gosh bop, what virtuoso turn did you and Lady bop manage to win the Final? What a hunkychunky indeed! I don't see Raffles taking nonsense or prisoners. First scrabble game report awaited with interest:-)

VickyA - isn't it odd when we meet teachers as people? (You know what I *mean* kittikins!) Likewise when the name we're used to has an unexpected face (although Gregory Peck - yum!).

I know! I'm a teacher myself and when my class see me in Mr T's doing my weekly shop they look at me as if I'm some sort of alien!

BoP - Raffles looks like quite the man! He reminds me of my parents' cat, Ozzy - definitely rules the roost but has the biggest personality.

CCP - I had the most horrendous cold this week. Hope it wasn't me who gave it to you. ;)

    Mine for today:

    1) Food and craft market in Leicester today. We had the most amazing paella for lunch from one of the stalls. Yum. (not OS, not MS but yummy!)

    2) Paired up and bagged the 4lbs of sausages from yesterday's farmers' market. They are now in the freezer, ready to be cooked over the forthcoming weeks.

    3) Lemon halved and put in the fridge to get rid of the smell of some of the highly flavoured (in a good way) sausages.

    4) Busy trying to tick off Christmas presents. WHY does the list seem to get longer?

    5) Sorting out files in our "office" (spare room with a desk in it!). Getting there slowly...

  • I love reading all your posts. have missed posting because I've been so busy. here are some of my pleasures from the past few days...

DH has his date for the hospital, a week tomorrow, I'll have my lovely hubby back to normal sooner rather than later :)

the local optician is running a competition for children to make a Christmas decoration out of junk. my girls completed their entries today and they're lovely. an angel made from an empty bottle, paper doily, loo roll tubes and gift ribbon, and a Christmas star made from loo roll tubes, ribbon and glitter. kept them busy for most of the day :)

found rtc baby corn and sugarsnaps and made a really tasty, cheap and easy pasta sauce for tea, with enough leftovers for the girls butty boxes and for mine and one little ones dinner tomorrow.

used mums sewing machine to fix DH's dressing gown pockets which had come undone. he was determined to get a new one, but is happy with the repairs :)

now enjoying a nice peaceful evening. kids in bed, house as tidy as it's going to get tonight, uniforms and dinners all ready for morning.

    Evening all.

BoP, Raffles looks like a retired pirate's cat with a lot of stories to tell.:D
Ampersand, thanks for the reminder about Shadowlands. I'll listen to it later - good background for knitting.

    Five for Sunday:

    1. The ongoing difficult situations have got even more complicated to the point where I've done loads of laughing (cos it's so awful) with friends trying to sort things out. :D

    2. Very garlicky bread with supper.

    3. Ginger beer to wash it down.

    4. The hooty owls have got going early tonight.

    5. Realising, yet again, that my and my DSs' take on X**s is really very sane and non-materialistic. I'm so glad that they've grown up with this way of doing things.

    Sweet dreams

  • There's some lovely comments on here! Mine for today are:

    1. A lie in till 8.40. Some may (correctly) say this was an oversleep as I was in work at 9! Very quick shower, brushing of teeth and out of the door.

    2. Work. Not normally on my list but the day flew by, I got double time and they fed us very lovely food.

3.Seeing my children after 24 hours apart and they were all clean and shiny as my mother in law had bathed them and washed their hair just before I got there, saving me a job. They also had their dinner there so saved me lots of jobs really.

4.Coming home to find all the toys had been sifted through and three big bags ready for the charity shop.

5.Also the open fireplace was mucky from the recent rain and I came home to find it clean. I should work on a Sunday more often!

Hello....it's Monday morning here and to be a hot and humid day so will need to get a wriggle on and get my 'stuff' done before it gets too warm. Not forecast for sunshine but overcast and 29o.

pirate Pete that sure looks like an impressive cat! Hope he settles in with you and Lady Bop soon.
frith your house is beautiful and such a lovely idea.
dd your comment about accepting the lift made me chuckle!
DFV I love gift shopping for other people...tend to find shopping at other times can be tedious but I do love giving and wrapping gifts....my family now know to give me back the ribbon :)

So some Sunday pleasures and it was a day full of them!

Woke up feeling rough....I just can't do late nights, I don't drink alcohol so can't blame that, just need my sleep ....anyway, washing machine on early and washing out on line.

Headed into the city to pick up UK colleague and off we went on a jaunt down the Mornington peninsula ....it was the most perfect day. We have not seen much sun, blue skies or been warm for a couple of weeks so it was the most pleasant 21o, beautiful blue sky and blue-green sea.

Stopped off for a very nice lunch and I had a pizza and salad.( thank you company expenses:))
Walked down to the beach and walked over the sand and round the harbour. There were so many people out and about and the sun was making everybody happy.
Then we drove right down the coast to the bottom of the peninsula and got out and had a walk to the most perfect beach. We were there 2 years ago and it is beautiful. OH and UK Man had their shoes and socks off and their trousers rolled up for a paddle!
Back in car and then stopped for a drink then drove back home via city to drop UK man off.
Home and had a nice dinner and then it was casualty catch up time then bed earlier than usual ...so all sleep is caught up with!

So a lovely day , UK Man was good company and nice for us to do something a little different .

Today I've phoned my mum and my friend and I need to do write a list of 'to dos' and get them started before it gets too hot!

    Have a good nights sleep!
