3 House smells like Chrimbo. Cake is brewing in the oven. Well sweated fruits, bit of brute with the butter and ruff sugars. Can of Black Treacle says Dispose on Expiry. Yeah, the last one ran out last year, dated 2005. Go forth! Addede some wine to it. Keeps Ms Whacks totted.

CCP Were your voucher things hiding too? Hope you get takers - it's a nice offer.

Yep! I ordered some eco-friendly cleaner as it was on SO, and it was put in a box all by itself, or so I thought until I went to fold the box flat for storage and I found the vouchers! One's now gone, but I've still got two more for anyone who's interested.

    1) Woken up early this morning by Isis having a mad five minutes with her toy mouse, which turned into a mad hour and a half - that cat's certainly got some energy! :undecided It wasn't at all unpleasant, though, lying in bed listening to the thunder of white paws and the rain hammering against the window, and knowing I didn't have to get up any time soon. :)

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) LO pizza for brunch.

    4) Ordered a voucher for free cat food. (Thanks again, ampersand. :T)

    5) Soup and pudding night tonight, although I'm sure BoP will be outraged on behalf of all right-thinking OS people to learn that I bought a sponge pudding rather than making one. :o
Back after a very long break!

Welcome back, Sparrer. :) and Bagpuss too :)
CCP - maybe we should tell them they've been too clever at hiding things that are not expected. Mine could so easily have gone in the bin.

    Five pleasures for Saturday:

    1. 'Twas nice to wake to a much tidier downstairs. DID did the trick Ampersand! Thanks for the heads up about the exhibition too.

    2. Long drive early morning and the sky when we crossed the Severn looked pink and brown and heavy with rain but the rain didn't really start until we parked. I was so grateful for that. :D

    3. I'd made very good mozzarella, tomato, basil (with olive oil dressing) wraps for lunch.

    4. Some chilled out time chatting with lovely people this afternoon.

    5. We got home in one piece (200 mile round trip today). The house is like ice so the heating got switched on as soon as we came through the door, put slippers on and a fleece wrapped around me... I have a pasty warming in the oven and a hot chocolate made and I'm going to have them curled up in front of the tiny house programme on 4od, then go to bed with a hottie and a book. :j Bliss.

    Sweet dreams all.

    todays 5

    1) spent a lovely crafty afternoon with DM
    2) finished both headbands just minutes before the party (DD1 had a great time and was sent home with a party bag for her sister too, which was nice) and had text messages from the party girls' parents to say how lovely they were. now working on 2 more for my girls and compiling a list of what else I need to make.
    3) watched a cracking thunder storm earlier, the sky went so dark and the lightning lit everywhere up beautifully. I love a good storm.
    4) made a roasted veg soup for tea that was really tasty, with enough left over for dinner tomorrow.
    5) mum brought round a bag of Barbie dolls, some as old as me...some that she used to play with when she was small! was lovely to hear DD2 playing with them and making up stories. (must add Barbie doll clothes to the 'to make' list).

    1. Woke up this morning and didn't feel poorly for the first time in nearly a week :)

    2. DD came in to my bed for her traditional weekend cuddle and silly time - and shared the news that the tooth fairy had been!! ;):)

    3. Yet more financial excitement, my income tax for the year is being refunded - thanks to my earning a pittance so far this tax year, and having no plans (or time!) to work until after April has started. Nice to have it coming back now rather than next tax year :)

    4. Half price crimble crackers in Wait rose, can't wait to see who gets the whoopee cushion!

    5. Took DD out to brilliant bonfire and fireworks - good job we remembered her ear defenders; the poor thing was still affected by the noise, but thankfully, we walked out of the big park and over the road before the display started, so we were away from most of the noise and had a brilliant view - lots of ooooooh and aaaaaaahs :)

    1. Just in from The Alma and such a glorious time had by all. In my kiwi&=kiwi Gatland guise couldn't quite bring off a Welsh victory, BUT tightie-tightie managed it with my All Blacks vs France, ma belle, who played cracking well and we were pushed all the way for a 26-19 victory. Cathartic fabulous, shouting, urging, singing, haka-ing=brilliant cure-all mix, esp. when we win:-)
Both stadiums[no, it's not 'stadia'] observed the minute's silence and everyone in The Alma fell silent, then stood. It was surprising. moving, special.
    2. 5p reverbe on Alma floor.
    3. Grayson's final Reith lecture just about to start its repeat, so perfect timing through the door.
    4. Treated self and left heating on today - lovely to come into warm just now.
    5. ...and in wee small hours, day began perfectly, being woken by Bill Nighy, with Laura dos Santos[have never heard of her; super-stellar performance here] in Educating Rita on r4extra. Just wonderful:

Bit of a wearing day here thanks to arguing and sniping children. :-/

    Here are my pleasures:

    1) Bit of a lie in!

    2) My sister popped in.

    3) Went to a Christmas fair in the village hall. My mum was in the kitchen so we all bought a bowl of soup then a cake.

    4) Went to the nearby steam station, watched a couple of trains coming and going and had a go on the model steam engine. Also had a good look round the museum, played with the signals in there etc.

Then we came across a group of older people in the caf! area (just some seats up the one end of the museum). I was ordering the hot chocolates and sons went outside to check their scooters were OK, propped up in the porch. They moved them about a bit and the handle bars of one scooter just tapped on the window. Well, one bloke in the group in the caf! started going on about "that could easily have smashed the window!" (it really couldn't) then that children have no discipline. Was quite the monologue. I just stared ahead waiting for the drinks. To be fair, no one else in his group joined in; one lady said "they were just leaning their scooters against the side" then he started off ranting about skateboards (?)

The thing is, in real life, I never say anything to people like that. Then sons came back in and helped me carry the drinks and as I walked away I found myself saying "WHAT A RUDE MAN" then the whole caf! fell silent!! Oh dear.

    5) Enjoyed watching Strictly earlier.

    6) No fish and chip bus tonight! Don't know where it had gone. So we drove to get a Chinese instead.

    7) Neighbour 2 doors down (we don't really know him) is having a party and had some fantastic fireworks so smaller son and I lay across my bedroom window sill watching those.

    8) Phone call from my old school friend.
