Bigger son still sick and ill until lunchtime. He dozed on and off this morning. He's OK, just got a headache. Must phone the school so they can put it in their accident book.

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep, just a bit short!

    2) Had a morning doing nothing (quietly) while bigger son had a sleep.

    3) Tomato soup and HM bread for lunch.

    4) Popped down to see mum and dad. Brother's barn is nearly finished....

    5) Bigger son got the present part of his Sinter Klaas.

    6) Went to pick smaller son up from school. A teacher from the language unit (next to smaller son's base) suddenly appeared and said, "Are you C's mum?". The usual feeling of trepidation from me! She said she had stayed in the autism base at lunchtime as the teacher normally in there is ill. Smaller son and the 2 other pupils were watching a James May documentary on the laptop and were sitting on all the available chairs so Mrs A sat on the carpet.

Smaller son turned round and said, "Would you like my chair?" :-) Mrs A kept saying to me "What a polite boy!"

    7) Made HM chicken nuggets for tea.

    8) Enjoyed watching the new Big Bang Theory.

    9) Read quite a lot of Harry Potter and smaller son fell asleep while I did so. He really needs a good sleep.

Had a nonstop yesterday - only saw my family for about 10 minutes awake total. Today almost as daft but more family time!

Chickenopolis - I do the same with bike accidents along a stretch into work - one of my colleagues rides & I used to... Square eggs as anticipated? No dangerous breeds, just dangerous owners. Smart terriers Quite Different!
Kittikins - happy to see DDaughter a wonderful armful & school coming along happily! Sulking son just working on being as Individual as it's possible to be without being arrested... Should be an interesting grownup when he's done.
DD - this montalbano (forgive me? I thought sounded a rather nice wine - google shows 2 fellas!) which are you lingering over?! (Work in Sheffield yesterday - exotic for me!) Free spud at work?!
Tealady - I raised all 3 to regard the Hoover as a rare & exotic treat that virtuous sons might be permitted to handle - my present 33% success rate is part of his present "Be Different" stage! You make macarons?!
Broomstick - thank you for your unflinching honestly re rose hips. Back to Mr. Fearnley-Whittingstall (River Cottage last night reported to have something on rosehips last night (5/11)?) Attagirl finding the silver lining if you have to shred the clouds to atoms for it! Evening meal sounds very hopeful!
Skint yet Again - yipeee for belated deposit refund!
Purple kitten - emergency responder?! Well done you! Rest up - the five a day need not be all at once! Animal kisses & doughnuts sound loads better.
lovefullshelves - trick to getting mine to leave will probably be to either shoot husband or move. Neither appeals. "Five Minutes Peace" every bathroom door should have a copy! Bet your Dad would have encouraged you to jump in the mud & enjoy it - we're alongside you in spirit!
Frith - blimey it's all go! Well done with Ma Frith's op, Frith the Younger's stats (& prep!) & hurrah for Holby! Never rains, but! Good on Ma Frith keeping her chin up, school & brother of Frith meeting happily, pumpkins for motorists to appreciate, and coping with a concussed Frith the Elder (who appears to be amanging beautifully - well done!) All the best with the barn.

BoP - toasted all sorts of things with Scouts for you! Why are you still without feline? (How's National Snorkers Week going, your way?) Family is the best source of grand tales.
ampersand - have indeed a CC+ & from the length of time they're taking to replace it, I don't think they want to! Still getting my money on it, so shall call them (again)... Compline sounds worth a try!
lisakay - your hooking skills & enthusiasm are a delight to behold! All the best with OH's forthcoming bionic hip & don't worry - most of the best OS pleasures are smiles & hugs!
VJsmum - believe me, I hug them back! Love the 'British' pub fireworks & I'm sure you're right - moaning is part of the fun... You got an "Excellent" off an External? Yippee!
CCP - feline alarm getting lax? Must be settling in! Love Beth Tweddle idea!
mhagster - they're *toads* for that $27, but it hasn't stressed you <applause> - you've just given your time & love to the garden. Enjoy that remade bed!

    Wednesday OS Pleasures
Sudden call out to Sheffield - always nice to be wanted.

Drove through the Peak - it's *beautiful*!

Saw, & was bemused by, a "Highway maintenance welfare unit".

Welcomed home with a huge hug by son. And a mug of tea, & more hugs from all family!

Looking forward to crawling into my bed... (Morning came too soon!)

    Today's pleasures
"You-hoo-hoo, I wanna be like you-hoo-hoo" - it is possible my musical tastes are somewhat childish... Makes me, and I note those around me, grin so can't be all bad.

Running so late after yesterday, waved to tailor On The Way In to the office.... Every smile is worth it.

Sent an email with a picture of flowers in it to a stressed friend - got a lovely phone call thanking me for the "virtual bouquet!"

Colleague celebrating birthday - one card had all who saw it chortling. (Oily bird, clearly unimpressed "stuff this, I'm going home" - which, when team morale is under fire, spoke to the hearts of all!)

Scout Bonfire Night - kits of excited young people & benignly amused family.

Big bonfire smoky hugs to all who need them! And scrubbed clean hugs for all those who might otherwise wheeze & cough!

I'm in danger of becoming a lurker. Pleasure summary.
    1. National Hunt jockey A.P. McCoy's 4000 up. Running out of superlatives for him, though annoyed at some of the idiotic comments on the Net from those who like to snipe. ('Horse does all the work', 'steering job', blah, blah)

    2. Riding the trike on a shopping trip in bright sunshine; looking out of the window on returning home to see unexpected heavy rain.

    3. The 'Farm' team are back on TV next week and I've been reading - and very much enjoying - the book of the series, Tudor Monastery Farm, which is already out. I couldn't wait, had to get it.

Ruth Goodman and Peter Ginn are joined by newbie Tom Pinfold, Alex from the previous series is completing his PhD, apparently. This is set in an earlier period than Tales From The Green Valley, which I liked. Peter was 'Fonz' in that one, some may recall.
Anyway, whilst Wartime Farm was great, a lot was fairly familiar (though not everything). This features quite a bit of 'stuff' that I didn't know about, it's the early Tudor period that they are focused on . Tom is quite good looking, I note. :p .

    4. Dr C. was on a day off today, is in good form and cooked tea, which was steak, flat mushrooms and salad. V. nice too. His car passed its MOT, so he was happy about that.

    5. Cheque arrived in post from survey site.
It took me 2 years to build up to £25.
I also had a digital cooking thermometer arrive this week, (that only took a few months to save up for) from Tickbox. I want to use it for cooking sugary stuff nearer Christmas.

    6. Not OS, but correctly remembering my very strange log - in details to book an appointment online at the docs. For next Tuesday. Good job it's just routine!
I will actually get to see my doc, I haven't seen him in a couple of years.
He is a diamond guy, he's Dr C.'s doc too and I have much to thank him for. :A
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Oh flip! I fell really deeply asleep in the chair and have just woken up , had a milky drink and am about to go bed proper. Hadn't realised how tired I must have been.
mcculloch thanks for the heads up about the return of The Farm.
DFV I'll go in search of last night's River Cottage - sounds useful.

    Five pleasures for Thursday then:

    1. Today, as predicted, was a vast improvement on yesterday. :D

    2. Came across the AC voucher codes quite by chance when I was folding up a brown paper bag from my last veg box order (I save the bags for food scraps for recycling). I could so easily have thrown the codes away, but am really pleased that all of them are now being used.

    3. Friend dropped by sports club this evening with lots of good news about having got not one but two new p/t jobs. It's given her a real boost and she needed one.

    4. Heated pasties for take away supper before we left the house. Wrapped them in foil, then a towel, then a fleece jacket and they were still warm four hours later! I'll do that again. And I made fruit salad with greek yoghurt for take away pudding. Also lovely.

    5. Finished reading my book in bed first thing this morning. :)

Sleep well. Am off to do the same

    Hurrah it's Friday!
Today my list of tasks included ..post a letter, pick up prescriptions and pop into hospital where OH will have a procedure carried out next week...so in the interests of multi- tasking I sent friend a text...did she want to meet for a coffee and yes she did.

Drove to hospital , did admission stuff, used their pharmacy and therefore there 2 hour parking :) , walked over to meet friend ( at old,old place of work) and had a catch up with her. Staff gave me staff discount so I was pleasantly surprised by that. Caught up with old colleagues and old customers so that was a pleasant morning. She took my letter to post on her way back to the office.

Prior to that I'd made rhubarb and ginger jam and carrot and coriander soup using my veggies!

Had chatted with my mum, she is in hospital for surgery today so please send some healing thoughts up to Scotland .
Chatted with my aunt who is staying at mums. She is one of my favourite people and I love talking to her.

Went to supermarket for grocery shop ( one near old work so different one from usual) found a $2 coin on floor next to trolley so nabbed that!
Managed to get a few RTCs including quarters of pumpkin for 50c...these will be transformed into soup!
On the way out going down ( a steeper than normal , I would suggest ) ramp, a bag of shopping fell. Of course it would be the one with 2 glass bottles of juice in it. I was kindly helped by 2 young gentleman and then went in to store to report it . More kindness in there. A plaster for my finger ( or band aid as they are called here...a plaster is for a fracture!) replacement bottles and my details taken. I will email the supermarket HQ to pass on my thanks.

Home , bit of chocolate cheesecake and a read of one of my UK magazines.

Chat with DS who has hurrah finished his exams today and his first year of university...how quick was that. Chat with DD2 who feels the world is against her at times....so her chats are always interesting as I try to boost her self confidence. Poor DD1 is at an exam until 5.30pm , she was rather stressed out this morning!

So I now need to go and put my shopping away and re-tidy the kitchen after my cooking events this morning.

So a productive day ...no job yet but no sense of foreboding either ( which this time last week I was feeling!) DD I know I am well out of there!

Have a hurrah for Friday and if you can spare a thought for my wee mum!
    Ta x

Sending love and prayers your mum's way mhags xx Hope the surgery goes smoothly and she has a dishy anaesthetist if having a local! (no point if general, lol.......and when I had a big op done under local, my chap was lovely to chat to for the 3 hours, kept my mind off the surgeons trying to persuade me to look at how exciting the operation was on the screen!! yuk)

Typing from a slightly subdued House of Kittikins.......I'm still not quite 'right' after my bug; DD is suffering badly from her tooth that just won't fall out :(; my parents are both quite unwell too.....

There are pleasures though - in a nutshell...

    1. Fab first teaching observation :)

    2. Surprise £2k bursary coming my way from uni!!!!!

    3. DD's constantly surprising of me with her thoughtfulness and kindness xxxxxx

    4. Another NSD (or is it 2, I can't remember......)
