Immediate wishes to your Mummy hurtling North of Border, mhags.
Frith - C.son shouldn't go back until GP all clear, should he? Hearing about the rugby player thing makes one think. Great brownie point for Younger Son and all the more credit to you, of course.
    1. Breakeven plus, not lots, but some banking will be done from Spits yesterday. I am ever grateful for this and for being able to do it, slog though it is.

    2. On way down[there and back in pitch black now], overtaking van: Diaper Poultry, More Than Just Poultry.....not my sort of business motto.

3.Vaguely listening to 'educationalist'[bop loathes the THEM of them; I loathe the un-word]on DID, have never heard of lots of current crop. Today:Sir Kenneth Robinson, but he sounds quite interesting. Ah yes, QI...later.

    4. Listened to France Inter on way down yesterday, '...18 à 22C autour de la M!diterran!e toute la journ!e...' and AP McCoy on R5 de retour. What a sound man, not shy of seeing self with clear sight and need to go on learning. Much liked sound of wife too.

    5. Bookend reverbes @ Spits:2p at atm @ 0430h; 5p during to and fro loading @20.30h. Profit!:-)

    6. May return to lazy bed and i-play Montalbano before it expires.

    Good Fridays to all.
ooh- just remembered, more fireworks tonight in near village, which happy family feeling I enjoyed so much last year.

Mcculloch - glad you unlurked, thus giving headsup on Ruth, Peter, etc. Thankyou.
kittikins - that's an amazing Bursary boost. Well done! - and more wishes[I can make plenty]en route sideways to your dp's.

  • Just popped by to announce that due to circumstances, BoP is unavailable for personal insults today. He is as hairy as ever, and enjoying national Snorkers week. And having a decent bang as well.

4 Gorrillared Snorkers in a bun toast for breakfast, with eggs and Beans. Washed down with copious amounts of tea. Tomorrow is National Snorker and Spagyetti day.

    1 Ssssssssssssssh. You’re too quite!

2 nite I am in Abertawe for an exhibition, with Ms Whack. Ms BoP is in her best bib and tocker! Me, just hairy and grisly. Situation normal!

5 Good to see our Church leaders putting things to right today, not. I would ask why they are against so called ‘Boy Soldiers’ Is this so they can have them for their own? Go to bloody Africa, Syria, Libya and sort the boy soldiers out there instead. My first chief in the RAF remarked he joined up little over the age of 15, and was so impressed the first night that he actually slept in Cotton Sheets. He was not allowed to touch an aircraft until he was 21. His thoughts on cotton sheets were about the same as I was in 1980! I will leave the reverend to continue to bu99er abbots!

3 Ms BoP has still not got over a hairy grisly on Tuesday. She thought I was being brute, but I was warning her that I was so hairy that mo, she would look out. She says I am not being nice and what can I say. Mite has to luck at the heartbrake section of the web to see if. No, I am not changing now. Tuff. Two choices, Like it or lump it.

One guess the Bishop fails to notice the boy soldiers, 152 who are to be executed in Bangledesh.

Broomstick - good on you placing A&C codes! Hope HFW comes through & yeay hot food!
DD - your dentist has a wonderful "while/since I'm here" approach!
mcculloch - with you cheering McCoy's achievements - and the man is going on, aiming for 5000 & frankly unbeatable! Family *dizzy* for the Farm team & Tudors on Wednesday...
mhagster - healing thoughts hovering over Scotland! Some supermarket staff are very lovely people - glad you found them!
Kittikins - a dishy anaesthetist - there's a cheery thought for a chilly afternoon! Yippee for the bursary!
ampersand - share your uncertainty re:Diaper Poultry...
BoP - get the snorkers down you, need to keep your strength up...

    Today's pleasures
Driving, almost by night, to Bad Company's Can't Get Enough turned up loud (Mway)... Slowed down after that track.

Remembered left laptop Before got into office (healthy walk, but muttering at myself a bit!)

Admired car park guy's new hat - brightly striped & bobble! Ideal for staying warm while leaping into the puddles...

Two mature colleagues have just returned from riding the Helter Skelter. Giggling & clearly still awash with the delighted adrenalin rush, I foresee a cheerful & slightly disorganised queue forming next week, with them leading the way again.

New tent has arrived - all menfolk crawling in & out & yittering happily. I admire it, but much prefer headroom in "the marquee" even though it wolfs boot space.

Big Hugs to all who need them!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

While I remember - like Broomstick, I also have some Abel & Cole vouchers for a free veg box so, if anyone missed out on Broomstick's and wants one, PM me and I'll send you the code.

Kittikins - get well now all of you!

    Ditto Mr Frith the Elder.

mcculloch - I'll add my thanks for the tip-off re the new Farm series - it's one of the few things (other than sport) which I watch on tv, so I'm glad to know there's another series about. :T

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1) Last of the LO hotdog pasta for lunch, and it was just as nice on the third day. :)

    2) A meeting with my lovely manager and I mentioned a particular decision which was made without consulting me, despite it being my specialist area. She agreed there wasn't much to be done about it, but I felt slightly better for having a moan and having her agree with me.

    3) The first day Isis had been alone all day and she was fine - after playing with her mouse / scratching post / ball / old slipper / anything else she could find (;)) she went to sleep, so I headed out to the pub quiz...

    4) ...which we won by a fairly clear margin, despite being down 1 and 1/2 team-members (the 1/2 was because one member was knocked off his bike earlier in the week and, not surprisingly, wasn't 100% at his best :().

    And for today:

    1) Woke up to find Isis snuggled against my leg. :D

    2) Managed to get out of the office, buy a sandwich, and get back before the heavens opened - and my word did they open!

    3) The setting sun found a gap in the clouds and turned the sky a glorious shade of golden-pink. :)

    4) Used my A$da voucher to treat myself to one of their delicious deli-counter pizzas for dinner.

    5) Wandered past a butcher's shop on my way into the supermarket and found some rather nice-looking bits of stuffed free range pork being sold off cheaply at the end of the day, so I nabbed a bit for Sunday dinner.

Have a lovely Friday evening / Saturday morning (for mhagster), all. :)
Back after a very long break!

Frith Hope DS1 is feeling lots better.
mhagster Hugs and healing vibes sent to your mum today.
Kittikins :j Brilliant news about the grant.
DFV Watched the HFW on rosehips bit - v. interesting. I must try to make rosehip syrup. I remember being given it when I was little.
CCP Were your voucher things hiding too? Hope you get takers - it's a nice offer.

    Five pleasures for Friday:

    1. DS2 wasn't feeling too well today but had to go into town to teach regardless so I offered him transport and used the time to get some shopping done, including stuff that had been on the list for ages.

    2. Got a little bit more ticked off on the X**s list. I need to get it done by the end of the month.

    3. When we got back DS1 had tackled the backlog of washing up. :T

    4. Someone round here has been having a late bonfire night party and all the fireworks have been gentle popping or fizzing ones. It's been a lovely noise to have in the background - nothing that made me jump.:)

    5. Watched the second half of the Edmund de Waal documentary on iplayer. It was that which sent me to sleep in the chair last night :o. I know that some people find this stuff really pretentious but I loved this programme. My head was full of ideas at the end. I haven't read his book, The Hare with Amber Eyes, yet but I'm putting it on my wish list!

    Sweet dreams everyone.

  • 1. the wurzels CD lent to me by my friend :D blackbird I'll ave e :D
    2. Hopefully the last lot od grapejuice dripping in the kitchen :)
    3. Mr lardyboy sat on my lap to watch enterprise, snuggly.
    4. Another row of potatoes up.
    5. Not doing the washing up :D it can bloomin well fester! The fairy has left the building. Do you know 'they' pile up recycling on the table until the fairy takes it out and puts it in the bin?! Same with teabags! And loorolls for that matter  sometimes the fairy just gets so tired:9 Oh well...no point moaning:D Me and my brain ache are off xx big hugs to all and to all a goodnight x

    1. Sorry kittikins et al who are phans - thought of Junior JAM is mega-multiply loathsome, reminded again by Bleughh! trailer, just on. That I will deliberately miss it is already a HUGE pleasure. Leaves more enjoyment for all of you:D

    2. Big freezing rain seems to have scotched fireworks; been pouring for hours, but I am now about to be snug and warm, after h/m soup and bread, hwb[kettle on as we speak].

    3. Banking done, nearly didn't 'cos of weather, but made self be good.

    4. TKMaxx for - look away now bop - sass, lace, and flimsy[from Clearance Rail, so almost permitted]...also Mme &Boot socks, after major cull, long overdue.

    5. Green token reverbe in w8rs, BUT Tragic News. 'No More Biccies' is apparently OFFICIAL. Both ladies following me in free caf! queue did instinctive 'Oh No's, with 'They CAN'T take them away' from the 2nd who suddenly saw she had clutched the serving rail in her shock. 'But what will we do?' she wailed 'I look forward to them every day I come in'. We need a Cunning Plan.

    6. Rang the Alma pub. Yes, they WILL be screening ABs vs France from Stade de France demain. Along I'll go to tear myself apart.

    7. Have been reading old Penguin Classic 'Birds Through a Ceiling of Alabaster: Three Abassid Poets', from which these[Abdullah Ibn Al-Mu'tazz, 861-908] -
The cavalry of dew is mounted on flowers
Stirred by the whip of the wind.

The field gallops as it stands.
    and:
Night has fallen about us my friend,
    Light our fire with wine
So, while the world sleeps, we may kiss
    The sun in the dark.
    Fabulous stuff.

    8. Didn't watch Montalbano, so that's still in store and new series of News Quiz for catch-up.

    9. Found something important.

    10. Again regretfully, finished another Martin Walker - more Marseille/Bandol/Toulon/Nice whodunitry. I need him to write one a week.

Isis - excellent to read of your A* in Advanced HWB Studies.
bop - you and Lady bop must come out of hiding. New purrson is looking and looking, but you are atm unfound.
dfv - I've done some Loud today too - spookymen's chorale and Patrick Ewen, but immediately went to youtube and BC are playing now, EXCEPT that I mistakenly went to D!pêche Mode at first, for JUST Can't Get Enough. That's another autoroute loudie, ditto Down Under...you've started something now:-)
    ###########################
broomstick - Edmund de Waal, another of My Men! Thankyou - that's more for the catch-up list. You must read 'The Hare with Amber Eyes' and I hope you caught his DID[repeats another Pushy Linky]

What the Dickens? A junior JAM?!? No thanks, I imagine that will be a step too far, even for me, the potential for precocious, precious preening, prigs is mind-blowing! I haven't heard the trailers, is it still with Nicholas Parsons?

    1. First tranche of my bursary hit today!

    2. DD's tooth is out - she had to visit the dentist to have it removed (thankfully without injection), and she's sore........but the tooth fairy told me that she's going to give her TWO coins under her pillow, as she's been such a brave girl all the time it was wobbly :)

    3. Have ideas for hopefully good lessons for next week - and my lovely teacher went through them and helped me shape them into what I think we need! Will just need a few hours now to turn the ideas into formal plans, to keep uni (and me, at this stage!), satisfied.

    4. Left 'early' tonight - before 6pm! :)

    5. Learned a card trick to wow DD with this weekend :)

Just went to check The Team - might as well delay my arrival at The Alma 24 hours...since I'm not playing until Sunday:o
Did just have a decent[expected] victory over PNG in League, with enough joy on the pitch from both sides to keep everyone happy.
    #############
    kittikins - that's reassuring.

So much for my pre-Match prep:
I will be at The Alma demain. Was checking phulishly on AB's site, where all timings are +12hrs.

ampersand, thank you so much. I have to do a massive tidy up then get to bed for a really early start tomorrow morning so I am putting E de V's DID on now to have in the background while I work 45 mins magic on the tip - I didn't hear it first time round and hadn't spotted on the archive either. Thanks again :D
