5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Just a few quick pleasures now as it has got late.
1) A lie in!
2) Did very little this morning.
3) Cleaned the mould off my bedroom ceiling this afternoon (lovely!). It had sloping bits of ceiling at the sides of the room and all the warm air in the house goes there to condense and grow little mouldy bits. It washes off nicely, it's just getting the enthusiasm to go and stand on a chair and clean it for half an hour or so.
Also cleaned the bathroom.
4) My friend came round. When I was little, growing up in a semi detached cottage miles from anywhere, he and his brothers lived next door. So he is my oldest friend. We also went to University together and shared the same house! He came here to get changed for his mum's party.
5) Despite weirdy phone call from ex husband this morning, sons DID get home alright which was useful for pleasure 6)
6) PARTY! Second mother (and real mother of my old friend) had her 70th birthday party in the village hall just over the road from my house. My parents, brother, sister and brother in law there and lots of childhood friends. Husband of birthday lady is one of 7 and I used to play with all the cousins.
7) There was a quiz, partly about aunty but also about historical events that have happened over the last 70 years. Our team won and we got badges!
8) Eldest of my friend's brothers has a middle son with aspergers syndrome so he and his wife have been asking for updates about smaller son so we had a chat about that and that both sons are now in the right schools.
9) Sons in bed about quarter of an hour ago so they should be asleep soon! Had a bit of Harry Potter and that's about it for today.
No storm here but windy. It often is due to the height of the village. A few mini power cuts this afternoon but all fine.0 -

5.Put a sign to say "sorry no trick or treat. Thank you" on my door and got an egg thrown at my door for my trouble. Waste of an egg quite frankly imho..Bah humbug me - sorry its just child beggars in acrylic and face paint to me not being a kiddy person and all that. I would rather donate to the Po*py Appeal or something useful:rotfl:
When DS was younger he went trick or treating and I joined in with a battery operated pumpkin in the window and sweets. Round here the kids only go to houses that are decorated. Now he is 18yo and no longer taking part I sit at the back of the house in the kitchen armchair [STRIKE]hiding[/STRIKE] watching tv leaving the front of the house undecorated and in darkness and no-one knocks
((Mhags)) so sorry to hear the dream job turned into a bit of a nightmare
Sparrer enjoy malta!

I'll call it a pleasure. It is. in that i can ask safely here - raspberry charlotte recipe please?
Dear neighbour's birthday today and she loves sth with elements of' 'my' France and h/g framboises.
Yes, I've started googling, but would prefer a recommended result from here. Also, feel need for Communion, so must be out in an hour.
What does annoy me on mse is my inability to find any heading for the Recipe Index. I've often printed /used recipes from it, but can never find this heading per se.
HELP PLEASE.
Bitterly cold bleak foul windy day.
Lucky ccp with knows-herself-lucky Isis. You might as well both just stay snuggled today.

Hello, heading towards bedtime again. Thank you for all your good wishes re job, today I just feel a sense of relief . I'm a great believer in being true to yourself and if it's not right do something about it. Have left a very toxic atmosphere ...apparently I won't get paid until I've handed my uniform in! So that will be done first thing tomorrow so I don't have to deal with female boss.
I met up with ex main colleague and sacked person number 11 who is getting some of my hours ...she's welcome to them and was warned that she can be sacked at anytime! ( again!) I am not convinced that main colleague doesn't tittle tattle so I watch what I say...she isn't the most discreet though I do like her. Anyway had a Sunday scone with them this morning....we will see if the friendship continues when we are not working together. She is not going to tell female boss she has seen me....how sad is that?
And now letting the stress float away....
Sunday chit chat on phone to friend from home ( for over 2 hours...I get cut off at 2 hours)
Sunday scone.
Sunday cafe visit with OH and DD2 ....I had a drink and pinched a few chips but that was all.
Sunday sort out....DD1 and I went through the Christmas decorations and have a box for charity shop. They are back in the garage for another few weeks...honest!
Last Sunday's Downton..finally got around to watch it.
Sunday ironing watching casualty.
Sunday sausages ....rtc sausages and rtc part baked rolls out the freezer. Though as I'm not a sausage fan I had peanut butter on warm rolls which was nice.
So a thoroughly acceptable Sunday without the worry and stress about going to work the next morning....it's such a horrid feeling when you don't look forward to going in.
Girls are off school next couple of days so no mad rush for next 2 days.
bagpuss well done for posting. I used to read and lurk before working up the courage to post almost 3 years ago. I had just moved to Australia and was struggling with ( everything really) the transition and not knowing a soul but loved how I could start to look for simple pleasures around me .....go on ...keep posting ...you know you want to
CCP I hope Miss Isis has had a comfortable first night .
DD hang on in there!
Have a lovely Sunday ....now pouring with rain and we reached the giddy heights of 15o today ( 28o yesterday ).0 -

Dear neighbour's birthday today and she loves sth with elements of' 'my' France and h/g framboises.
I cannot help. I just wanted to post to say that the mere thought of raspberry charlotte has become a pleasure for the start of my day. That is exactly what I would love to be eating for breakfast
I wish I was popping round to a friend's. DS1 has just phoned from the airport and will be getting a flight a bit later but I still will be happier when he's landed. And my oldest, dearest friend who lives over the other side of the country texted very late last night to say that he's waiting for the results of tests re bleeding - ulcers would be best case scenario. Two people I knew - one very well - died of digestive system cancers this year and I'm not feeling very good about this latest news. My friend isn't answering his phone.
However, some quick morning pleasures. I have to change my mood:
1. DS1 was happy that good friends were getting the same flight back with him so the journey will be v. sociable.
2. The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing.
3. My bedding is in the wash.
Happy Sunday everyone.

Good evening all !
Bagpuss - how lovely of you to pop in , thank you xx
5 for yesterday
1. Went out for "breakfast " with OH in posh french patisserie . Liberated some french butter that I had with my toast and OH bought some scrummy french pastries to take home .
2. Had eyebrows threaded IT HURT - who knew??? Angry red brow line , much to OH's amusement . Not impressed by beauticians lack of hand hygiene , as she was flitting between me and some girl who had more slap on than Cocoa the Clown. In my "Day Job" - Infection Control figures quite highly.....;) Won't be going back there .Dirty Mare, no need for it this day and age.
3. Hen in death throes ... OH did the swinging her through air like a new born lamb who isn't breathing movement and gave her some oxygen . All well today ...????
4. One hen is moulting and is really ars*y about it. The garden is covered in orange feathers .Looks like a massacre
5.Terrier came back with more mud on her than is caninely possible. A bath was required.
5 for today
1. Eyebrows have "settled down"
2. OH went food shopping and also got two tins of chocs for the C word.
3. Hen still alive wandering around the kitchen
4. Terrier has been to the park and stayed clean and is here sitting on my foot as I type.Weirdo.
5. Roast beef, yorkies, leeks in cheese sauce, roasties, broccoli, carrots and peas ..... food !!!!!!Yum
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Good to hear about new pussy on the bed. May she long be laid there!
5 Dippy egg breakfast this morn with soldiers. Washed down with tea and jam on toast. Then we had Fish Fingers, chips and mushy peas. Stack in the sink for Ms Whack to clean. And for a change, I did not blow the milk over this week.
4 Helped neighbour sort out their photos for the Camera Club competitions coming up. Went off happy
3 Tigers were loose in bed again last night, but I managed again to slay them all and stop Ms Whack from becoming breakfast. Just how does the top blanket end up under the quilt is so intriguing.
2 nite is Scrabble again DFV. Should take up & tip, but that would mean getting a TV thing again. And seeing as Ms Whack has seen two weeks time schedule, it Goes like this on 2. Baking TV, Dance, Autumn every day. Nothing original.
1 There will be a fire on Tuesday, if the candles go up!
Used to upset Big Sis years back. But, saves a lot on the entertainment!0 -

1. 70 percent off halloween decorations today, vampire teeth 3p!! So bargains put away for next year!
2. Recipe for homemade rice-a-roni, as I've found this american packet food too moreish for my waistline!! Rice and orzo it is!!
3. Bloomin wind broke the door on my greenhouse but OH said he'll mend it for meStill got 3 loads of washing dry in there yesterday though:D
4. Wearing footless, thick, black wooly tights:D and a hoody..I look like Max Wall! Or a really huge vase (skinny ankles, wide shoulders!):D

Evening all.
bagpuss - great name, and great post - come on in any time!
1) Not a bad night's sleep - Isis slept on the bed although kept as far from me as possible, as if she wasn't sure she was really allowed on there.
2) Lots of very whooshy wind today, but no real damage has been done besides a few pots blown over.
3) Discovering that Isis loves to be tickled on her chin, just like Moggett did, and reacts in the same way by purring until she dribbles!
4) She's clearly not as settled as I thought, though, as she won't go in the kitchen, so I've had to move her food and litter tray temporarily as otherwise she wouldn't eat or do her business. (She still hasn't used her tray, actually, but I hope she will soon having just eaten a bowlful of food with great enthusiasm.)
5) No work tomorrow, as I've got a couple of days off to help Isis settle in. (Apologies for all the cat-related pleasures - things will settle down once she's settled in!)Back after a very long break!0
