CCP: Do you mind me asking about the home ins. ours has come up and its gone up up up..
Chicken: Carbonara one of my fav’s
DigforV It’s a Sun 30days for a pound, you have to sign up and set a reminder to un-sign.
I didn’t even finish work until 11pm last night so all I did was work and sleep, pleasures will have to roll over.:o
For Today
1.Work isn’t over for another week but working at home tomorrow.
2.Paid, wow this month was long after paying out for the van.:T
3.I’ve just pre paid the phone bill for a year as it works out a lot cheaper for us, I feel like we are very slowly getting there.:o
4.I went shopping and RTC’s are bad bad bad, I discovered a new yoghurt and I am addicted, and I’ve discovered pumpkins and all sorts of other varieties and Dh is looking up all sorts of recipes.:rotfl:
5.Sly rtc cream cake for dessert:p
6. Bought some V big v warm socks for DH and I for the winter, as we both suffer with arthritic, metal loaded ankles, we are not quite as old as we sound/feel:rotfl:0 -
DfV yes I have a very similar list of foods, most of which I eat anyway. Under no circumstances though am I giving up my tea and calcium impossible as I have osteosporosis - there is no clear cut answer, just have to pick bits out etc
. Hope the tailor doesn't wave his scissors when he has a client in!
CCP so pleased you didn't lose your earring, what luck that it stayed in place. Hope all goes well on Saturday, everything x'ed for you both
Broomstick well done on your little 'windfall', it's going to be useful with the C-word shopping
1. Dog delivered to DD nice and early, he has lots of other little dogs to play with there. Car emptied of all unnecessary (to others) carp, ready to go into a giant car park while we're away
2. Spent £20 in Mr S and got 6p/litre off petrol. Determined to follow Jack and buy basics, it was actually quite difficult to spend £20 but I have a very full store cupboard now
3. Neighbour's DH is still in a coma, the doctors have decided to wait another day or two before they start to wake him up. They said they were happy with him, just being cautious.
4 Yellow thing been loitering all day
5. Sitting, waiting. All packed and ready to go, just the kitchen floor to wash. Friend is arriving at 3.30am, tried to sleep but have to keep checking I've got all the paperwork in order!
Take care and 'see' you when I get back from Malta0 -
1. We ate our dinner by pumpkinlight
That did make me smile this morning when I read that. Pumpkins are so expensive over here ( there's a surprise!) and are sold by the $/kg.
To buy a whole one would be extortionate....none of your pumpkins for a pound over here, unfortunately . I used to love scooping out the flesh and seeds and making a face.
Anyway. It's a beautiful day and hurrah for Friday and all that.
I got a train to a few towns away as my friend had told me about a job. Handed in my cv but probably not enough hours. This town has some gorgeous wee shops , we've only really driven through and stopped to sign our rental lease at estate agents, never had a good mooch around the shops. Quite upmarket though and certainly not in my price range. But very pleasant to window shop , tut under my breath when I saw the price of things and be glad that even if I could afford the asking prices I don't think I would spend it.....maybe in the sales!
Nice trip back home on train, popped into post office to buy a stamp for a card for my mum. Nice friendly staff as usual and the first day of Christmas stamps being available .
I washed all the throws and cushion covers this morning and they were dry in no time.
Our radishes are ready, our lettuce is ready, my rhubarb is amazing, coriander is flourishing .....if only the carrots were a bit more carrot looking I'd almost have soup! Sweetcorn needs thinning out , tomatoes need more sunshine on their backs, last year they were much further ahead than now.
Finished a book abut Mary Watson ( Google her) this was fiction based on fact and I really enjoyed reading the book.
Went to do my grocery shop and got loads of bargains, loads for the freezer which will be used at DD1s birthday bash in a few weeks.
So an unexpected and unpaid day off that I think I made the most of.
Do have a lovely day it's Friday !
Warm and sunny hugs if you need one0 -
mhagster - huge hugs to you - you're having such a rough time of things at the moment, and it just isn't fair.
sparrer - have a fantastic time in Malta.Re new cat - I realised last night that, when I get Isis tomorrow, she will be the third white-pawed, white-whiskered black cat in the immediate area - we're going to have to start being careful we all end up with the right one! :rotfl:
PK - my home insurance is with Direct Line, using the link on this week's MSE newsletter - you get an M&S voucher which may or may not be any use to you.
Pleasure five for last night, a little belatedly:
5) Just as I was about to leave the pub quiz a charming young Polish gentleman turned up, looking for someone who had called for taxi. He couldn't find her, so I took it instead - my name is similar enough to that of the person who ordered it that we can plausibly claim a genuine misunderstanding if he should be threatened with any trouble.
Have a decent-ish day, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good morning all !
5 for yesterday
1. Work ok
2. OH paid me back some of the cash that he owes me:D
3. The "kitchen hen" has been stuffing her face and drinking well she is still standing a little too upright like an Indian Runner duck - so her issues are not quite sorted yet.Still taking her course of meds.
4. OH bought a curry which he picked up on his way home from work.
5.Put a sign to say "sorry no trick or treat. Thank you" on my door and got an egg thrown at my door for my trouble. Waste of an egg quite frankly imho..Bah humbug me - sorry its just child beggars in acrylic and face paint to me not being a kiddy person and all that. I would rather donate to the Po*py Appeal or something useful:rotfl:
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
1) Received confirmation of my mayo competition prize - afternoon tea for two at a choice of venues.
I'm not sure whether to be disappointed or mildly relieved that I didn't win the next level prize - I would have liked to go to the food show in London, but I'm not sure whether I would have enjoyed getting up on stage!
2) Free sarnie for lunch, thanks to a voucher for giving feedback to a company.
3) Made a decision on something I've been thinking about for a while - as I think I've mentioned, I'm looking for a new job, but I've been looking only in Portsmouth and the immediate area as that's where I live. I've now decided to look further afield, even if it means moving to another area - I would be sorry to move away from my friends, but there's not much else I'd miss about poor old Pompey!
4) Chopped and froze another four bags of HG tomatoes, and spread out the final batch of beans to dry. Now there's just some more chillies, which I want to use to make sweet chilli sauce, and then that's this year's harvest finished.
5) Treated myself to a Chinese fakeaway for dinner - the supermarket's ready-meal range was on SO, which seemed too good an opportunity to miss. :money:
Tomorrow is Cat Day - I'm a bit nervous, having only previously had one cat (and a difficult, sickly one at that - sorry, Moggett!) so wish me luck, please!
Back after a very long break!0 -
Good luck with the moggy CCP
Sparrer - hope you're having a fab time.
Chicken, glad the chicken is perking up - I don't like Halloween either so glad that we weren't here (see below)
Mhagster - you are being messed about. Hope it resolves soon
Good news on the payrise DD
Still busy - 3 more Fridays to go
Thank you for your pleasures everyone, I have been reading along but no time to formulate my own. I am having tonight off
Wednesday's pleasures
Had a soak in the bath to try to help get over the Chinese hangover but really you just have to do your time and then have a good night's sleep.
Started reading "the Hunger games - catching fire", the second in the trilogy (in the bath, with DD's permission - it had seen better days anyway)
Teaching was good and I came home early
Got through some marking - my favourite comment was due to a missed letter when someone spoke about "ar$ing disputes" instead of arising
Can't remember if I have put this but mum's book got published and there is a special tribute to her in the front basically crediting her with all the work on all four publications. Brought a lump to the throat.
Yesterday's pleasures
1. Felt better when I woke up and woke early to catch train to London. Managed the 7.15 train which got to London at 8.30
2. Walked from Euston to The Globe theatre (about 45 mins walk) and went on a guided tour of it and a look round the museum / exhibition. It is a fantastic place to visit and an amazing tribute to Sam Wannamaker. Sat where the witches had sat for the "Dr Who" episode - seemed appropriate :rotfl: (cos it was Halloween, not cos I is an old witch before you say).
3. had a coffee and some delicious bread (can't get over what a great idea it is to have a lovely loaf of bread on the counter with a range of jams to choose from)
4. TOok a walk round Bankside and visited the site of the original Globe, then went to the Tate modern. Only had a short time there, but enough for a quick game of "hit or $-h!t" on Facebook :rotfl: I think it's safe to say I didn't really get the point of a lot of it.
5. Then met DD who'd come down later and we went to see Matilda! Yes, Ampersand, by Lord TIm of Minchin. It was fabulous. I wasn't that bothered, DD got the tickets for her birthday and I'd said she should take someone else, but in the end I went and am so glad I did. Thoroughly enjoyed it and, far from the bunch of precocious kids I thought would be involved, they were a group of talented actors who just happened to be children. Here is my favourite song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0tRDhEmdO4
6. DD and I made use of MrT vouchers and went to Ask for dinner. T'was lovely
7. Got off train to find OH had come to meet us in the car. I'd walked a long way yesterday so was glad not to do the bit back home. Oh and he had only just got back from Germany so of course that was good too
And today's
1. the large glass of wine I am about to consume after a horrid day.:beer:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Not in any order. Game on tonight.
1 Thirst word. Entered. With blank. Get in 64. Ms BoP says it is going to be a long night.
2 Ms bop lays her all, x on a treble letter. Doubled. Great score for her of 64. BoP lights the place up with another 8 letterer. Lanterns. 151 to BoP in three words. Ms BoP languishing on 75. Game on.
3 Wobbleades a go go. Still leading by a country and mile. Get in.
2 Beverly Penn. The Waterboys, we got pass Beethoven. Oh, and I am on the bored. Winning.
1 Digits. Fingers. Get it. Going to finish now on eve. Round one to BoP
Now sat listening to Louis Jordan. Beware. Just wear them fox furs. And come home at two. Classic. More than them just for wommins that & watches.
Round two. Going round in circles. Radii. But getting squashed with squeezer. Get in.
Even so I is now on the better wobbleade. Just got another eight letterer out in remitted. Surely I cans not fail now!0 -
PK - I paid a year up front with PlusNet when I changed providers too.
Sparrer - Ooo, Malta! My very old uncle used to go on holiday there every single year after working there during the war (in the army).
CCP - it's nearly cat day! And well done on your afternoon tea winning.
VJsmum - sorry to hear you had a bad day today. Sons nearly home from ice cream town; they had to travel back via Welshpool which confused them. Stretching their legs at Harry Tuffins Church Stoke now.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Nice, long sleep.
2) Porridge (none of your porage) for breakfast.
3) Went into town with the mission of buying a dress, boots and a necklace for second mother's 70th birthday party tomorrow night. I owned none of those 3 things...
Checked charity shops first... no good but all purchased in the end. Took FIVE HOURS!
4) Popped in to see school friend who traditionally comes to see us on a Sunday. Had a cup of tea and her sister was there so got to chat to her too.
5) Indian takeaway for tea.
6) Lovely present waiting for me when I got home. Will be eaten in a mo.
7) Already got pyjamas on and hwb and will watch HIGNFY just now.0 -
Oooooh frith. Salt in yer porage. Just played a fine mint. Two nil. Crumpets now being buttered. Til the day rises.0
