Hello....just waiting on dinner heating up. I'm just in from work had to do the closing shift and don't really like it but I need to work I suppose!
This morning I:
Hoovered, ironed , watched the end of Holby that I fell asleep at last night, tidied kitchen, swooshed some loo cleaner down the loos , put dinner in slow cooker and off I went for a train to work!
Work was okay...not feeling the love there at the moment...will see how it goes. Had spring minestrone soup for my break.
Dinner is beef stroganoff made with rtc beef.
Going to watch Downton tonight.
It's stayed dry and think it might have been sunny but I was inside.
Have a lovely day
My lentil soup is made with carrot, turnip, leeks, onion and bacon and red lentils.....the veggies were needing used up and turned from scary veg into lovely soup.0 -
Thanks for that Frith, I don't mind parsley sauce at all but expect I'd need tons of it. I'd bath in the stuff if it got rid of the giddiness!
Thank you for the messages re my neighbour. Another neighbour (I love living in this friendly little square) has just taken his wife, who doesn't drive, to Papworth. Hopefully there will be some positive news later today.
Dog and a bag of fridge goodies delivered to DD, just got to make up the bed for DGD1 who is moving in tonight to look after the house/cat. Not leaving til 4am so back later with my 5 pleasures - if you can call housework a pleasure!
Have a sunny day whatever the weather0 -

I'm having a dozy day today - I've spent the whole day feeling like I could just curl up and go to sleep at a moment's notice.
1) Stopped to chat to some friends on strike outside the university and with them was the dog who got severe grape poisoning only a couple of weeks ago, fully recovered and able to join the picket line. (Although, given how hard it was raining, he didn't exactly look thrilled about it!)
2) Sorted out my home insurance and, thanks to an MSE offer, will only pay £12. :money:
3) Realised when I got home that I had lost the back of one of my earrings, but somehow hadn't lost the earring itself - they're not a favourite pair but I would still have been miffed to lose one.
4) Pub quiz tonight, which I will go to despite being tired as it gets me away from the painfully shrill teenage trick or treaters hanging about outside. (Why do teenage girls have to scream so much?)Back after a very long break!0 -
Sparrer - praying for your neighbour x
1. We ate our dinner by pumpkinlight
2. Went to gorgeous ancient pub for amazing cheese rolls; we've been going there for 40 years, but the pub is even more ancient than thatApparently there has been a building on the site since 1342 or something!
3. Chatted to jolly folk in the pub - they all admired our gorgeous doggy and we played some quiz type game with themI asked my family a question, and someone overheard, so we all joined in!
4. Lovely text message from a friend checking I'm okay after my essay-related meltdown yesterday, bless her!
5. Mummykins and I taught DD how to play gin rummy this afternoon.......what have we done! We have a card shark on our hands! She is now beating me at backgammon and gin rummy! Good girl
6. Yummy fruit and veg in the farm shop, nomnom.
7. I've managed to get some more of my nasty work done, but haven't ventured near the essay as yet today....maybe later?!?
8. A fabulous book I ordered off the big river website for the sum of 1p plus postage arrived this morning
9. Another present for someone for the end of year festivities arrived as well
10. And Mummykins and I bought DD yet another pressie whilst we were out!
11. DD walked back 5 or 6 miles from the pub with my Daddykins and the dogShe had a great time

lovefullshelves - you have a tractor? <covet> Me, I scare parents with my tomato cuppasoup labelled O Neg...
whitesatin - rest & recover! Grandchildren are that special blessing, loads of oomph That You Can Give Back.
CCP - delighted to read ASDA are giving you money! Hope pub quiz was OK despite fool screaming teens
Broomstick - thanks - I worried my three might suddenly develop supermud powers, but a School Club makes much more sense. <Phew> Hurrah on discovering the secret can!
Skint yet Again - my flexi is looking good too & most of the time I'm just taking messages!
Kittikins - "many fears are born of fatigue" and at 10.46 you should be saying Bollards to it & Going To Sleep! Trust the librarians, survive the indulgence of chocolate biscuits (I'd have done the same!) and I hope it's looking less awful this morning! Sounds a great day - every girl should play cards!
Frith - you supermum! having a good time with mum, sorting another couple of good reads for Elder Frith & then retrieving Smaller Frith. (Could it be the photos are up to reassure the sons?)
sparrer - unlike BoP I have No Control over the weather. Just Beware Sheep on the roads & verges. (Some cross using crossing points, but not all.) Anaemia? Has anyone said eat watercress, brown rice, beans, nuts, meat, apricots, prunes & raisins? (Make your own exotic fruit & nut chocolate?) Apparently you're supposed to lay off tea, coffee & calcium (surely Within Reason?!) too. Me, I loved Floradix postpartum. Vegetarian, easily digested, did not taste vile - a nip & nap & I was back on for three under five again...
mhagster - work without the love not good, but likewise penury. Thank you for clarifying what is a scary veg - this time of year it isn't always clear!
BoP - is it November yet? Hurrah anyway & Thank You!
OS Pleasures
All Hallows' Eve (and payday) - let the girlish ghou!ish cackles begin...
Still startled by all this morning light. I can *see* a duck on the river instead of inferring it from the light on the ripples.
Trying for a freebie coffee as my nose is cold. Score! Yeay for MyWaitrose card.
Laughing at a Waterstones 2013 shortlist title "The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil"... By one Stephen Collins. My imagination is having a wonderful time with the idea & I think my colleagues believe someone's spiked my Earl Grey...
Got a wave from the tailor, Even Though he had shears in hand! I feel honoured, as I try not to disturb him working.
Big hugs to all who need them & happy pumpkinfest!0 -
Evening all.
Five pleasures for Thursday:
1. DS1's little, old car passed its MOT without needing anything doing to it. Phew!
2. Improvised Halloween fun and games at the club tonight.
3. Good packed supper of pasta and salad - simple and quick to make and filled the gap nicely.
4. Unexpectedly getting reimbursed ~£50 for some expenses earlier in the year.
5. Sitting sewing while listening to R4 drama on iplayer (again).
Blessings and happy new year to those who celebrate Samhain.
Sweet dreams

Pleasures for today:
1) Smaller son decided he would go back to his father's this morning so both sons are now in Wales.
2) Went swimming with my brother this afternoon but it was shut for repairs. So went to his house for a cup of tea instead.
3) Walked brother's dog a few miles. Met the lady I used to babysit for on the lane (in her car). Had a chat and, as she pulled away, the dog pounced on a little mouse in the hedge, threw it in the air and did a big chomp! Bit embarrassing.
4) Had trick or treaters round! Recognised the 2 from next door but there were 20 children - don't know where they'd got all the others from, there are only 12 children in the village!
5) Had a tidy up and cleaned a kitchen cupboard out.
6) Roasted some chestnuts collected by brother.
7) Phoned my house mate from university.
8) Pumpkins looking good on the window sill. I've been sitting in the dark so motorists can get the best view of them!0 -
