VJsmum - a Midnight ABBA Rave, eh? Am I missing out, not having a daughter? Canny trick with the heels. You're an MSG "sensitive" then?
BoP - must remember to include "Bollards" in my vocabulary...
Frith - read & keep re-reading til you believe us. You're wonderful, and human which makes you judge yourself harshly. (Warhammer great for their maths, hell on your wallet. Poker is cheaper.) Smaller son tried (early) Harry? Gateway reading for my three.
Purple kitten - dare I ask what have you done for a 10 voucher?
sparrer - wholehearted sympathies with being awake when you don't need to be & Congratulations on taking your car in hand! Would need to consult Haynes to know what the devil auto transmission fluid *was* let alone how you check it.
Westywoodpecker - congratulations!
mhagster - I thought lentil soup was made of lentils, or is a lentil a seriously scary veg? (Sprouts terrify the lads. Can't understand why.)
whitesatin - I think we have a lemon & ginger chinese jar - thank you for the reminder! I shall try it out this half term...
OS Pleasures
Barreling in on quiet roads I had space to chuckle at one small cloud, which was pink. Other colours were available - wispy white, nasty bruise purple - but this little cloud was determined.
Coos in the carpark - pigeons devouring bread & us drones realising just how nippy this morning is outside our metal coats.
Going to London in February! With work, so can be thoroughly independent. So I get to spend two nights with my parents - they & my budget conscious manager are all delighted. Faint sense I may have missed a catch...
An email from a child! "We need lots more plain flour". No body text, no colour, no weight.... I must ask school where on the website Food Tech requirements are posted. And forward email to husband so he can help empty the cupboard.
Got my poppy. Blessings to all in whose honour I wear it, and their families.
"I'm the sophisticated one!" Quoth the child who wants a Tesco Clubcard. Oh, dear...
Big hugs to all who need them, likewise extra fleeces!0 -
Roadblock. Bollards. Could had fort of other words to say.
All this man talk yous lot. Forts I dipped in the breakup and heartache threads. Really. Just nose not what to stay. As for me, we are all imperfect. Sometimes we do right, but forget to ask.
Beard rubs to all. I will grow one ruff so you all get some.
5 Fruit salad, cheese, marmites sarnies. Washed don with tea at work. Beat it. All part of me five a day.
2 gether with Ms Whachski. She owes me loads of love.
1 Forget yesterday. Today is for now. Tomorrow is the world.
3 We are still without puss. Cannot believe we have gone on so long.

Ooooh & Starting on the Spitfires
Wobbleades a go go
Now chicken pops up0 -
BoP - play fair! - Frith gave you plenty of warning she was having a rant. OK we then muscled in, but really, what did you think we'd do? Sit back & hold up points like Strictly judges? Not a chance - group hugs all the way! Darn tootin tomorrow is the world. We just had to be very very clear with Frith on exactly this point. Spitfire downed like the Luftwaffe?!
ampersand - ow! I started computing on an erratic BBC micro & used to write text files so I could hang onto things. Habit stuck.
Chickenopolis - glad to hear chook taking food & water on board - sounds a definite improvement!0 -
Frith - you are a strong woman, through your posts it seems to me you're a great mum too. We all need a rant from time to time and we all make mistakes. I know I have! (twice...2 ex husbands for goodness sake, I am a daft lass!) Big hugs in your direction xx

Totally shattered and will be away for a few days but today's OS pleasures include:
Breakfast with my almost five year old granddaughter - she was here for the day as it is half term. Cutting the crusts off her toast and watching her watch Peppa Pig dvd like she used to before starting school.
The arrival of my grandsons - the way they get lifted up to ring the door bell then scamper round the corner so they can pretend they are not there then shout boo at me.
Getting all the toys out, making a mess, making Halloween cakes, lunch and dinner, as I said, shattered but such fun.
Daughter's husband has got a good contract in so they are solvent for a while yet.
Got my daughter to pick up a lovely Autograph Weekend jacket I saw yesterday at the charity shop and couldn't decide. It looks good on and has survived my washing machine (hand wash cycle) and low tumble drying.
I'll be back next week, folks, meanwhile keep on counting your blessings. x0 -
1) Got my computer back and it all seems to be working, despite the guy in the shop claiming he didn't really know what was wrong with it. :undecided
2) Pretty sky this evening - orange-pink clouds on a turquoise background.
3) Popped into A$da at lunchtime - not a shop I usually use, but I was over that way to get the very particular brand of cat food Isis is used to (serves me right for asking CP what it was, I suppose!) - and checked their 'price guarantee' on the off-chance, and got a voucher for £4.
4) Did some rearranging in the kitchen as I didn't really like the way things were laid out when I had Moggett, and it looks much better and more spacious now. I've decided to sell off the bar stools I had in there as I've never really used them since I've been in this flat, so that will be a small amount of additional money for me, too.
5) I'm not in a cooking mood this evening, so I'm going to have soup and a sandwich - nicely warming as the CH is only on for an hour or so each evening and my fingers are frozen!
Oh, and have you seen these carved pumpkins? Wow, I think is the word!Back after a very long break!0 -
FRITH - hugs to you and the boys and raspberries to he who is not worth naming. You are worth a gazillion more than any of those neighbours; we know it, your boys know it, and you know it too xxx0
