Frith - I lurk on this thread but look out for your posts as always your positivity helps you overcome very difficult situations. I think you should feel very proud with all you have achieved, especially with regard to your two sons.

It does sound as if this new lady has jumped right in to fill the gap - very much like you did - and I would feel sorry for her as a leopard cannot change his spots and neither can Mr N!!!

Dont be angry at yourself as you made a difference to those boys. Just be thankful that you are free to live your life with your boys x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

An early post from me, from my work PC, as my nice, zippy new pooter has broken down already and been returned to the shop for repair / replacement. I'm not having a good week with electrical things - my car stereo system broke last week as well, so I've got to get that repaired / replaced at some point, too. :(

    1) Nice repairman turned up to sort out my leaky roof - he hasn't called me since I left him on the roof at lunchtime, so I assume all is OK.

    2) New pooter is still under warranty, having been bought on Saturday, so the fault will be sorted out FOC.

    3) A glorious autumn afternoon, with sunshine making the leaves (or at least those that didn't get blown away on Sunday) glow beautifully.

    4) Had a brief nosy online at the pub I will be visiting with my DF prior to collecting Isis on Saturday, and, despite looking rather grotty from the outside, it has apparently won numerous awards for its food, which sounds promising. :)

    5) Pub quiz tonight, where I can drown my sorrows in wobbleade (well, a couple of them, anyway!).

LFS - thanks for the warning re the Carry On reference - I'm not a fan myself but several of my pub quiz team-mates are, so I now know what to expect when I tell them my new cat's name this evening!
Back after a very long break!

Mega big hugs frith from someone who is also feeling extremely used, in my case caring for someone for 10 years who now they have found themselves has found someone else. Gee thanx hun. So i quite understand your feeling of rejection / stupidity but hey gal we are not stupid, we are decent human beings who see the best in people. Your boys are testimony to your total fabbyness. And this thread is just the place to rant when you need a rant and post 5 mse os when you have 5. So here's my 5 ( running on from the worst row yet where the d word was mentioned).
    1) friend gave me a bag of cookers and a bag of eaters nom nom
    2) have been invited to dinner with student in malaysia (when i'm out there in january)
    3) had fabby time running 2 hour workshop on developing online courses.goodness dd do like to talk rofl but i did let them talk too
    4) lovely latte with colleague after workshop where we talked about the new me post breakup. I's looking good girlfriend
    5) another colleague had left over halloween party cakes. I generously brought one home for xoh who is tonight gonna dye my hair. Since i mentioned the d word she's been as nice as pie. I have given up trying to understand. I am putting me first in work a home. Not in a selfish or unkind way, but in a i aint playing the martyr no more
    Hugs to all xxxxxx

  • Good evening all !

PK- glad to hear that you escaped unscathed and stayed put yesterday.
whitesatin - a new colleague has everything CK - she sits next to me with her spotty bag, glasses case, purse ... It's not you is it??;)

    5 for today

    1. Work ok as Boss is ignoring me :D as I sort of had a pop at him yesterday as he emailed and said he couldn't get in as trees were down and I said well I hope that you told "S" that who lives right near you so that she does not try and struggle to get in ...and "T" who lives 20 miles in the opposite direction, which was very badly hit by the storm ... honestly how selfish.

    2. My giant brother put the fence panels back this evening so the hens can go out now the garden is not "open plan" .

    3. My poorly hen was all hunched up in the nesting box , but scoffed some food . I bought her indoors in the cat basket where I can keep an eye on what she is eating and drinking and that she is not being pushed around by the others. She seems quite settled in the kitchen , she will stay indoors until she picks up.

    4. Took terrier out to park and met the dog again that thinks I am someone else :rotfl:

5.Tacos for tea - his beef , mine quorn very nice too.

Have a good evening all !

Fantastic words from others, Frith, to which I can add little, other than to say it always takes time to see things with clarity. No beating yourself up please.
When the penny drops, we think 'How could I have been so stupid?'
The answer perhaps being, we of that mindset - and I am one for sure - always hope that we can make situations completely better and that things will improve for our sacrifices.
In reality, the selfish person absorbs all our help and wishes to change nothing, having manipulated events very nicely.

Those pumpkins are fantastic. What good memories you build for your children. We all make mistakes, but I often smile to myself reading your posts, thinking how lucky your children are to have so much in their lives that is so good for them.

    So some pleasures...
    1. A wardrobe full of warm clothes for the late autumn and winter. I'm just sorting out my wardrobe changeover and having fun putting outfits together for the colder weather. Linked to this, thankfulness that we escaped the worst weather and so did all loved ones, but with thoughts of those not so fortunate.

    2. With the knowledge that 'butter is better' (than marge) after all, (thank you to Dr Michael wossisname, TV medic/ science pundit for that ,) a chunk of Dr C's warm made-by-hand focaccia (sp) with butter. Yum.

    3. More pics on the Net of Fatty and Boo. Now that Fatty has been gelded all the horses are sharing a field and enjoying each others' company.

    4. Prospect of half term visit from DD, DGC and dogs on Friday. Walter, the puppy, is now 5 months but DD says he is much smaller than Beth, the older dog, at the same age. Beth, ironically, was the runt of a litter of 10, who grew like a weed once with DD, but Walter's parents are both small for Springers.
He is named (partly) for my father - in - law, who was about 5' 4'' so perhaps it's right after all.

    5. Discovering another huge wodge of OOD paperwork from previous job, now in recycling. In amongst it, expensive birthday and Christmas cards I had mislaid. Space cleared too!
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

LOL, chickenopolis, it could be, except that I have retired. I absolutely adore spotty things but they have to be the right spots. I know what I mean though not everyone would. I don't like big spots or random spots or multi coloured spots etc. etc.

I tend to like most CK stuff and am lucky that my family treat me to bits and pieces so have quite a collection.

    Have a good evening yourself.

    Evening all. :)

Got back at about half an hour ago and am flipping shattered. So here's my quick five pleasures for Tuesday:

    1. Sorted tons more paperwork, filing, shredding, bill paying etc. All good stuff.

    2. Got the last of the washing dried.

    3. Catching up on Downton.

    4. Fantastic light on the late afternoon drive into town: really golden and autumnal.

    5. Made the speediest stirfry ever just now. It doesn't look very pretty but it tastes ok and will fill hungry boys' stomachs. :) Off to eat... then bed.

    Sweet dreams

Chickenopolis - hoping Laureta improving? "giant brother" sounds right handy even if not veggie.
CCP - if I could kick CP I would. Hurrah for mayo prize! Dratted technology...
BoP - boxing the game? As if!
Broomstick - where's all this sports kit coming from?!
    Kittikins - yum pumpkin soup!
Purple kitten - family ferrets sound Wonderful! All the best with pork slow cook surprise!
lovefullshelves - leek & bacon sounds delicious!
Tealady - bless you guiding the baffled! Apple & cinnamon porridge - noted...
VJsmum - menfolk away, snooze time way hey!
sparrer - business clothes in 6th form a brilliant idea - target practice & gradual wardrobe acquisition!
Frith - settled comfortably, rant away! You are the loving supportive one & he's a prize nit with the parenting skills of a stuffed herring. His parents like you - rightly, & I wonder what they think of this 'gf'... You are *not* stupid & have two glorious sons you are delighting in (rightly). Hug the boys from us! Brilliant pumpkins, BTW!
mhagster - fruit is good for you but cheerful lunch with girlies rarer & more fun!
ampersand - love the way you lay it out - clear & beautiful as a logic solution but much warmer!
whitesatin - suitcase being laden for Scotland? Brilliant! "the right spots" has me beaming...
Skint yet Again - if you're allergic to lanolin, how are you with tallow? Some brilliant salves based on it.
Molly41 - glad you're here to help us reassure/chivvy/bully with affection Frith!
DD - Malaysian student dinner? Definitely something to look forward to! (Sugar lumps in reticule in case food too spicy? Or Not Possible?!)
Mcculloch - with you on hurrah for real butter!

    OS Pleasures

Oh my. Homemade entertainment at its finest. The lads are arm wrestling & the little two both decked their big brother without a beat. The giggling is uproarious!

Extra sleep *and* extra daylight - I like GMT! Hurrah for reversing into carpark space in the morning & headlights at night...

We used up some edge of date camping rations - cheesy pasta tastes great - with the subtle addition of a packet of bacon...

Back in the office, I remain tickled by the fire alarm test. It's the tannoy announcements before & after that make having your head subjected to a sonic scrubbing worthwhile.

Merry email from colleague - she's tipped some of her lemon tea over the keyboard & claims this is why she's breaking into haiku format. I think 'lemon tea keyboard' sounds rather nice...

Big hugs to all who need them, SpecialBigHugs to Frith & the Masters Frith, and health, strength and safety from elements to all reading!

Ampersand - truly the wisest of women

    Pleasures for the day

    1. woke up, went back to sleep, woke up went back to sleep - for about an hour this morning. Some bizarre dreams in that time - one involved my hairdresser which was weird
    2. Walked into town with DD in lovely warm sunshine, had lunch together then did our chores and walked home separately
    3. Load of washing virtually dry on the line - a quick finish off in the airing cupboard
    4. DD has 3 friends for a sleepover  They do make me laugh. I shall decamp to the spare room so as not to be disturbed by the "midnight Abba rave" :rotfl:
    5. OH and DS made it to their yesterday destination and managed at least one trip on the mountain railway :T

Work again tomorrow :( I am not liking this semester.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • Bollards, lost it apart from ,
We never asked each other. End of it.
