aw chicken, poor girl
the first cold weather a couple of weeks ago saw the end of one of our rabbits. thought the other would be quick to follow but he's hanging on in there with plenty of extra bedding and food and one of my girls teddies to keep him company.
fab news on tax credits
pleased new puss is settling.
I have another 5
in no particular order
-littlest minded girl has been an absolute pleasure all day.
-in fact all of the kids have been really lovely today, including my own
-started making headway into the homegrown pumpkin mountain and made chicken and pumpkin korma in the slow cooker, kids all wanted seconds so can't have been bad
-visited a friend for a nice chat
-the above friend is a knitting/crochet designer and was sorting out her wool stash...(have given her a donation for her funds pot, so not free but worth it)
-have found a fab free crochet pattern for hello kitty headbands, going to do two for DD1's friends joint birthday party on sat.
must learn to count
right, best get to it xxxfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
Evening
Ampersand - the Raspberry Charlotte sounds yum,
Chicken - Sorry to hear about your chicken
Broomstick - Great news about the tax credits
DigforVictory - I had to turn the radio off this morning when they played Monty Python as it was played at DB funeral and still can't listen to it
Pleasures for today,
1. NSD
2. One of the girls at work didn't have lunch with her and wasn't feeling too good so fed her HM carrot soup also fed friend who lets me use her Debenhams discount. Plus there is still enough soup left for me to have tomorrow. Total cost of the soup was less than 40p :money:
3. Enjoyed the walk home as cleared head after day in office but didn't enjoy it being so dark
4. Sausage and pasta soup for dinner with a portion left over and some sausage left for OH lunch tomorrow.
5. Nice quite night in with my family
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Chicken - dad also lost a chicken today due to the unbelievably horrible habit of "vent pecking". Turns out Mrs Grumpy was put in a pen of her own because she was being attacked. This left 3 hens in a big run and they were fine for several months but today 2 of them turned on one poor hen. Well, if there is only one pecky, nasty hen, there will be one survivor in the morning. But we dare not take one out and put her with Mrs Grumpy in case we choose the wrong hen and Mrs Grumpy finds herself in that nightmare again!
Tealady - Jerusalem was played at my granddad's funeral and now I can't sing it at all. If you are trying to avoid a song, it crops up everywhere! On the one occasion there were no other organists in the world and I played at church, I chose Jerusalem to see if it would help it revert to just a "normal" song to sing afterwards, but no.
Here are my pleasures for today. Feeling a bit miserable so hopefully this will help. I decided to get as much done as possible despite feeling like I wanted to stay in bed.
1) Not too bad a sleep.
2) Sons back to school OK, bigger son bearing tons of finished homework.
3) After dropping smaller son off, had a sausage and tomato sandwich in town.
4) Looked round all charity shops (didn't find anything).
5) Went to Sainsburys
6) Stopped in smaller town for charity shops on the way home from Sainsbury town. Still found nothing but bumped into the wife of the man who shears parents' sheep and got chatting about smaller son's new school. Her daughter goes to a special school so there is a group I can join where they offer soft play, theatre etc for the children.
7) Phoned my aunty. Sounds like my uncle (94? or 95) had another little stroke yesterday. I am going to see them on Friday and she wants me to sort out her paperwork for her.
8) Got my friend from college a birthday present and got it posted. Her birthday is today so a bit slow there.
9) School pick up and smaller son had stayed in year 6 all day. Bigger son got a 7b for his hugely complicated science homework.
10) Went to mum and dad's and took brother's dog for a long walk.
11) Brushed the dog on our return!
12) Plotting what to do for Sinter Klaas this year. Every year we all meet up (parents, siblings, sons) and have one other person's name from a hat. You have up to £5 to spend on the person. The present is not very important but you have to do some fantastic wrapping or incorporate it into something else and write a quiz or poem! This year I've got my sister so I'm looking for a little light up Christmas tree. I'll make a copy of her new house from cardboard with "glazed" windows then put the tree inside, I think.
Smaller son has got brother in law (he's not supposed to say who he's got but he finds it quite stressful). He's going to make a papier mache mountain (brother in law does rock climbing).0 -
Thank you all re the little red hen . Frith - gosh , vent pecking . I guess they bleed to death ?? I am sorry to hear about your relative:( .
LFS -Re the wellies - I bet you did too
VJsmum - yep I get the whole inch of tea thing at the bottom of the cup. Many a splash mark up the paintwork has been caused by my habit .
LisaKay - nice posts x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
It has taken 32 mins for mse to open, keeps flicking to #unresponsive# and briefly gave me a Chicken Stock making thread...
bop - if I wasn't so determined to send you a Bonne Anniversaire....and that's just been another 2 minutes of limbo, drives me mad....I would have given up way before now....just had another 40 secs stop...and again...and not a hint of yellow thing to be seen.
Anyway, I've ensured a Kingdom-wide bonfire chain and plenty of pretties and whizzes[with a blank for the 2nd 'z' and a 7-letter plural add-on]
Have a wonderful day, all day long and a New Pu$$ycat Basket, not empty, when you pull up the drawbridge tonight. Happy day to Lady bop alongside.
Broomstick - wonderful tax credit news, such a relief, but also, you shouldn't have been put through this in the first place.
mhags - tell us the flung pinny didn't make its way home to be part of that washing.
Don't know what's going on with putah now, but this has taken one hour and one minute to do. Will now re-zap tea, ready for Grayson's final Reith lecture.
Only realised this morning I forgot to do Melbourne Cup - Red Cadeaux came second again.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

So! Lovely day until an hour ago when male boss had called! My husband in his wisdom had left some unflattering reviews about cafe! Nothing bad just not good! Owner not pleased and starts yelling at me down the phone ... How it will affect his business , how I left of my own choosing blah, blah, blah! I was not pleased about OH doing this either as it's hardly professional!
And breathe .....prior to that :
Lovely day.
Early morning walk round oval
Baked some banana muffins and some choc ones
Went for a Tuesday scone
Went for a bike ride .... Oh me bum! Not cycled in 3 years!
Went to the cinema to see 'Captain Philips' not sure if it's been out in UK but it was an excellent film. Used my vouchers bought a couple of months ago.
Home and went for another cycle round oval....oh me bum!
Sunny day today and tomorrow then back to rain and cool.
Have a good one!0 -
mhags - not on for part of the problem/reason for you leaving to pester you at home.
Also cowardly, inaccurate, ineffectual to speak to you rather than the writer of said comments.
Glad you have bike and Oval close by.
