So sorry to hear of two lost hens. :(

Broomstick - thanks for the word-a-day email link - I used to be signed up to that and had completely forgotten that I haven't had one in ages, so I've just signed up again. :)

ampersand et al - sorry, no Isis photos yet, although I've been trying as the nice lady at CP asked for some she could show to the receptionist, who apparently had a special fondness for her - every time I point the phone at Isis to take a photo she comes trotting over to see what I'm doing, so all I've got is a few photos of blurred b&w fur! I will keep trying - probably my best chance is to sneak up on her when she's asleep!
Back after a very long break!

So is it not your birthday bop? Noted several of your comments over last week indicating 'twas/'tis.
Check the Birthdays at the bottom of the form leader page. It was not showing earlier.

Of course it is. As I said, when we were younger, we used to roast tatties and hedgehogs on bonfires on my birthday! And have toffee apples and snorkers. All the time it used to upset Big Sis! Becasue she thought no one celebrated hers.

    Note.
Hegdhogs were only roasted if they could not get out of the hole in the bonfre.

Will we see proper Isis in situ pic soon?

I've finally got one - I've titled this composition "My ball's in there somewhere!". (That's the throw over the sofa she's attacking, btw.)

    1) NSD and NPD.

    2) I haven't felt very hungry for the last few days and, stepping on the scales this morning, I can see that the loss of appetite has achieved what several months on the OS weight-loss thread didn't, and helped me shed a much-needed bit of weight!

    3) Sent the photo of Isis over to the CP branch where I got her, as I had been asked to send some photos so the receptionist who was so fond of her can see that she's doing well in her new home. :)

    4) Listening to fireworks popping outside, and I can enjoy them as Isis seems not the slightest bit concerned by all the noise. :)

    5) Will be treating myself to a firework night-themed dinner tonight - hot dog pasta. :D (OK, it's just pasta with a sausage and tomato sauce, but it sounds good. ;))

LFS - Isis says "brr-rr-OW!" which, although I don't speak fluent cat like you do, I think translates as "I'm HERE!!". :D

mhagster - no more uniform! Hope the cathedral candle works for you all. (Husbands are unique, rare, special & occasionally autonomous. Might a kindly interpretation be he's still jetlagged?) Capt.Phillips out shortly here - you recommend?
Broomstick - I must try the lads on milquetoast sometime. How'd Dad cope?
kittikins - how are you feeling? Has someone else done the laundry?
VJsmum - "Chort Vozmi!" is a mild one. "Vyez paryadichni chelavyek" is more insulting (although why being a disorganised person [the translation I was given as a schoolgirl] is Such A Heinous Crime is something you probably need to be Russian to quite grasp.) From the prawn story, your minions need further training!
lovefullshelves - when son complains of squeaky bed, I'll remind him of where the spanners etc are stored. Or just hand him a candle with a benign exporession. (Apparently you rub candle where wood rubs on wood... What his imagination comes up with is his business.) Have you passed the wool ball onto a crafty friend?
lisakay - chicken & pumpkin korma sounds brilliant! All the best hooking Hello Kitties...
Tealady - Owch - sorry - never meant to cause flashbacks! It is *noticeably* dark now, isn't it?!
Frith - some days Charity shops just don't have anything that charms - but it is rare. Best wishes for uncle & Hurrah on all the homework! Hosue sounds wonderful - mountain a real challenge!
    Chickenopolis - Big hugs!
ampersand - dratted interweb. Love how you have BoP's brithday sorted! Likewise greivous AusExBoss.
DD - you're home? ANd can knit Aran and watch the delicious Mr.Davenport simultaneously? <awe>
CCP - set a camera trap with food? Or get someone to point & click whilst you tickle under Isis' chin? Awwww! Congratulations on weightloss & learning Isis' vocab!
BoP - hurrah for bonfires to celebrate birthday! Poor old BigSis, born on a boring day...

    OS Pleasures
Husband acquired, & a son has polished up a treat, a letter holder to hold my incoming physical post. No more "where did you leave it?!" - I hope! (Ah. Letter holder portable. Oops.)

Small child, hearing I was cooking breakfast, leapt & hugged me - very heartening when I was feeling a bit uncertain about life.

Day off - to do list growing as I look around the kitchen but day off! (Minutes later, starting in on laundry, beginning to feel those who advocated Child Sacrifice may have had a point. However, recalling springing hug & kiss, have postponed Braised Brat daydream.)

Finally sorted house insurance. (Punctuality is not just a virtue, it is thrifty. Still, hurrah for MSE techniques.)

Got a load onto eBay (despite vigorous procrastination) and the prospect of more eventually.

Big hugs to all who need them (& Birthday Beers to BoP)!
