Broomstick - should have said, that while the rotaire is very good, I am not sure it lives up to all the hype (wind funnelling up like a chimney). Saved me a fortune over the years though, I reckon. Don't forget to take it down if you are in a storm Area though

5 for today
1. Met my ex colleague in our lovely park with her puppy and took the wizened old terrier . Out for two hours and had a good catch up.
2. Cleaned the house from top to bottom, I detest housework of any form. In case my friend wanted to come in.(Made me sweat like a racehorse and all that )House looks great though.
3. Two lots of washing done and dried on line - not because I like housework but I am too tight to put the tumble drier on :rotfl:Weather apparently grim over the weekend and beyond.
4.Beef casserole in slow cooker before 10am . It tasted lovely.
5. Chilling out on sofa with OH (no not like that )

Skint: I know what you mean.
CCP: Aww just lovely.
Grim weather on the way appears to be very bad now, even our home insurers sent us an email to remind put away anything that moves. Which also reminded us to insure our new to us van.
1.Worked from home, and it really made a vast difference as it’s been taking 2/3 hours each way this week
2.DH here as well so we had a bacon sarnie for brekkie but baked spud for lunch;)
3.Got to the doctor this afternoon, not one I like as they work on urgency so you have to phone same day to get who you are given but all done for another 2 months, and ever efficient he gave me the flu jab as I was “very quick” with my requests. I’ve lost a little bit of weight but another stone easily to go.:o
4. Sincerely cba with cooking tonight but managed not to do takeaway – only because the Chinese does not deliver:rotfl:, so pasta bake is slowly cooking.0 -
Five pleasures for Friday - where has this week gone?
1. VJsmum don't worry, I'd already said to DS2 that the Rotaire had to come down on Sunday ready for the storms. I'd worked out that it would probably take off in high enough winds but thanks for the warningUntil then, I shall continue to use it and it's been great today - it's been working perfectly for what I need: three full loads of washing left out all day through intermittent rain storms and I brought it in almost completely dry at 6. Five of my fourteen extra loads of washing are now completed and two loads of wet washing are ready to go out tomorrow first thing. We'll be out all day again and the weather's not looking dry.
2. Bright red rose hips appearing on the rose bush in the garden.
3. Going back to bed this morning with lots of real coffee and getting on with work in the warm. Lovely!
4. As part of that, worked out exactly who owes us money still. I now have a list of who to chase.
5. More hand-sewing listening to radio drama.
Sweet dreams

CCP Isis is adorable. Did you know that 31st is National Black/Black & White Cat Day? You've kicked it off with a good start for CP
. (Must ask why they dropped the 'League').
Hope all are well, hugs and best wishes to those who are under the weather or going through a difficult time
1. Stopped the car for a cat which was going to cross the road, it strolled across and as it reached the opposite kerb it looked round as if to say thank you, then carried on its way
2. Sorted out all the junk jewellery which fell off the broken hanger a couple of days ago, and gave a bagful to DNeighbour and her DD for their craft sessions.
3. Experimented with an idea I found on line to clean a silver necklace with boiling water, tin foil and bicarb. I'm always surprised when these things work, which it did very well
4. Wednesday evening's Mr M shopping included 2 panini, a swede, 2lb of onions and a 4pt container of whole milk for 87p.
5. Made a fat free sponge which is a bit dry for my taste so have made some individual apple sponges in ramekins. Much nicer, especially with a dollop of Greek yogurt.
Have a good night (day in mhags case), take care in the forecast gales.0 -
Tired again! Quick pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son had a teacher training day so we went into town. Looked round the cathedral, had dinner in the Chinese buffet and bought some soap from Lush! Then went up to the woods and found 2 geocaches.
3) Sister and brother in law's engagement party (haven't long got home).
That's it for today!0 -
Thanks for the silver cleaning tip Sparrer, my most precious necklace and pendants (pendants from my great-grandmother and my granddad) are very dirty and I've been meaning to clean them up.
Recovering-ish from a horrible headache that came on during the school day, not quite a migraine, but boy do I feel ropeyFeeling sick, very banging head, and stiff neck and shoulders.....bleugh!
Anyway.....
1. Had a great end to my first week in schoolThe children were glorious
2. My end of week review was lovely - I agreed with all my tutor's comments and she was amazing, giving me examples of what I've done already to fulfil various criteria (probably because she could see I was in a bad way and couldn't think straight!). She's offered to meet me and my teaching buddy on Friday to talk through our plans for the following week - what a superstar x
3. I've suggested running a short Latin club for Y5 and 6, hope the children will snap it up - we can talk about Asterix and Obelix, do crafts, learn a few songs etc
4. Have lots to do over the half-term 'break'......eeek! Looking forward to some of it way more other bits! (That assignment is still hanging over me) But, what the heck, it will be a break and lovely to spend time with DD
5. Ate much-neededchocolate!

Saturday schmaturday!
Eyebrows waxed at 8.30am....what a way to start your weekend!
Train to work, I do enjoy my nosey at peoples back gardens.
Work ( or maybe voluntary work- not sure if we are getting paid for our efforts ) cleaned and cleaned some more...smoke sure leaves a mess.
Had a laugh and a giggle whilst working which was nice.
OH picked me up and we went for some lunch. A few places are looking for staff so I will take some CVs out with me on Monday .Then had to seek angel wings and a tutu for DD2 , who has a Halloween party tonight.
Home to a meringue and cream and a growl at my children for not having done much today.....obviously too much effort to put their school uniforms out for a wash...not a happy mummy. But I enjoyed my meringues
pirate Pete g is for gram0
