  • DigforV I have to admit I had to google bannock.
McHags Sorry your work is messing you about.
Chicken: Chicken in a bag balti??
I find it amazing that they are forecasting snow in a couple of weeks when it’s still warm.
1.Remembered to make lunch with grapes, yoghurt, sort of healthy
2.Left over pizza from a bogof offer earlier this week is dinner, err not so healthy but very tastey.;)
    3. The greeting by the animals when I got in was like they hadn’t seen me in weeks.:rotfl:
    4. Got my bum into gear and doing some very boring searching for life insurance.
    5. Got a phone call and an interview for a few weeks’ time, after half term it just sorta happened, I have to admit it feels right and looking forward it.:)
    6. The remainder of tomatoes have ripened but they aren’t good may have to make a salsa to freeze
    7. Picked up some stocking fillers for DH but had to leave them in desk drawers as I realized I can’t get them past DH as he was picking me up.:o:o
    8. Building out of the front of the house, we have gone halves with the neighbor on new garden wall, all completed today looks lovely.
    9. The new boiler is now waiting on us to de junk the cupboard and front room looks like a busy time ahead as there is a lot to clear, daunting but a great reason to slowly plough through it.:T

    1) OU assignment all finished and on its way to Milton Keynes. :j

    2) The wild weather finally eased off around mid-afternoon and it turned into a pretty decent autumn day.

    3) A couple of days ago I contacted a national company to point out a mistake on the label of one of their products, and they're claiming such gratitude they're going to send me some vouchers to say thank you. :money:

    4) I've been fancying a beefburger on and off for a couple of weeks, so tonight I gave in and had one, and it was .

    5) No more work this week, which is a great pleasure regardless of the outcome of the Great Cat Expedition tomorrow.
Back after a very long break!

VJsmum - love the cheese grater conversation!
Purple kitten - happy ferrets! Google probably a better tool for describing bannock. I have stocking things squirreled all over the place - come the 23rd, I'll sic a child to root them all out again...
Jevvers - hullo! *Why* do childern love things which are soo bad & dangerous for them?!
Chickenopolis - right with you - where possible, aspartame is no longer part of our lives. Chickens on "baby monitor"? Neat!
CCP - glad we don't know. Was afraid it was an English Binge Drinking thing. Love the cat summoning imperiously! Truly, they have Staff. Well done getting the OU prep done - now you can enjoy tomorrow with a clear conscience...
mhagster - thank you - my grip on geography is dire. Hope work restarts soon. Sleep off the headache?!
BoP - now with added butter!
Ampersand - don't leave us in the lurch like that, *please*?!
Broomstick - where are you bulk ordering from? (We go on epic family shop to Chinese Supermarket, & I shop while menfolk gawk at live crabs & lobsters. Can't help feeling somewhat left out...)

    OS Pleasures

Raincoat dried in the office after this morning's soaking - hurrah for dry neck & wrists!

Tom Lehrer earworm had me chuckling - "It Makes A Fellow Proud To Be A Soldier" - the 'box tops' line particularly appropriate as Mid Year Reviews ongoing...

Looking at clouds in puddles, & wishing I was wearing wellies - my Inner Toddler wants to jump!

Reading the order of service for the baby's christening & wondering if William remembers the composition for Harry's Christening at all. Lovely alert face in that robe.

Came home via kebab shop (moment of weakness - lads deserved treat) & there set the world to rights with the cook! No mobile phones for children in school/education - they have all day to study, talk to friends & play games. They come home to "face inwards" to the family, and do homework & listen to the wisdom if their elders. We enjoyed reinforcing each other's prejudices/opinions! (The lads fell on kebab like young wolves...)

Big hugs to all who need them!
  • CCP good luck for tomorrow can be heartbreaking when you cant take them all home x

DFV It's Summer Naturals. None of our local Chinese supermarkets seem to do anything in bulk other than salt (let alone lobsters!) :D

Just a quick few pleasures for me as I'm in bed as it seemed preferable to having to take smaller son back upstairs a million times...

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Boys happy at school and smaller son stayed out in the playground again for break and lunch.

    3) Brother came down as their water has been off for 4 days, electricity on and off for 2 days and their phone since last night!

    4) Cheese and beetroot sandwich for lunch.

    5) Took some of brother's chestnuts to the farm shop. He has picked about 50 lbs so far.

    6) Found a geocache by the farm shop while I was out that way.

    7) Tasty tea - gammon, roast potatoes, carrots, corn on the cob, gravy and HM crab apple jelly.

    8) Managed to splutter my way through Harry Potter tonight - the bit where he sees his parents' grave for the first time and Hermione magics a Christmas wreath for him to put on it. :-(

Smaller son's big meeting at school tomorrow. It is the annual statement review (will be odd as it has only been in place for a month!) and someone from his possible high school will be there and his base teacher has to "sell" him as a potential pupil. She has warned me she has to make him look as unsuitable for mainstream school as possible so that's something to look forward to!

    1. NSD

    2. Survived mad part of lesson, felt like a total failure but know it wasn't really........just, how long can it take 5 children to roll out small pieces of dough? (and, for a bonus point, who in their right mind would want to eat the finished biscuits??)

    3. Nice cake in the staffroom ;)

    4. Nice strong coffee as well!! :)

    5. DD :) She serenaded me after dinner on the keyboard, then thrashed me soundly at backgammon! Attagirl :)

    6. Lovely emails from chums :)

My pleasures are all food related today:)

    Made tablet.( Scottish sweet)

    Made meringues.

Made lemon curd using next door neighbours lemons , then made lemon meringue cupcakes. ....lemon cupcakes, filled with lemon curd and topped with meringue...very schlurpalicious!

Made rhubarb cupcakes, using the first of this seasons rhubarb from the garden. Stewed rhubarb, save 'juice' and reduce it further. Fruit goes in cupcake mix and reduced juice goes in butter icing mix...making it a beautiful pale pink colour....in the interests of quality control I had to have one of these as well. Very tasty.

Made chocolate crispy cakes with some scary rice crispies that have been lurking for ages and kids obviously don't like them.

Having a Halloween tea tomorrow for kids and their friends, so got the baking out of the way today. I enjoyed the company of the radio and ever so glad I have a dishwasher.

Managed to get washing dried in between showers of rain, another cold and wet day but after a very hot Sunday it has made me appreciate the colder days.....I don't do heat very well!

    Have a lovely day :)
  • Broomstick - that made me laugh ! If old foxy face walks up my path in daylight I will do a lot more than sing at him !

PK- DM got me three of the Mag*i packets rtc for 49p - one was balti. Very nice too.Too spicy for OH :rotfl:Fingers crossed re the interview . Hope it goes your way x

Have a lovely day all !

Right, it's cat day. Thanks for all your good wishes - I'll let you know tomorrow what happens.

Yep. There's a quote on the front page of the CPL website which says something like "we've got a cat for everyone - young or old, large or small, happy or sad..." - I just think "yes, please". ;)

I know exactly the bit you mean. smiley-sad015.gif There's a scene in the last book of the Hunger Games trilogy (if anyone else has read it), where her sister's cat comes home, which always has me sniffling like a pathetic sniffly thing, too. :o
Back after a very long break!
